We present a first-principles study of the geometrical and electronic structures of a hexagonal single-walled silicon nanotube with a monovacancy or a substitutional defect. The B, C, N, Al and P atoms are chosen as substitutional impurities. It is found that the defect such as a monovacancy or a substitutional impurity results in deformation of the hexagonal single-walled silicon nanotube. In both cases, a relatively localized unoccupied state near the Fermi level occurs due to this local deformation. The differences in geometrical and electronic properties of different substitutional impurities are discussed. 相似文献

The Er3+-Yb3+ codoped Al2O3 nanoparticles with an average particle size of about 50 nm have been synthesized by an arc discharge synthesis method. The
green and red up-conversion emissions centered at about 526, 547 and 677 nm, corresponding respectively to the 2H11/2→4I15/2, 4S3/2→4I15/2 and 4F9/2→4I15/2 transitions of Er3+, were detected by a 978-nm semiconductor laser diode excitation. The Annealing has evident effect on the up-conversion emissions
of the samples: The red up-conversion emission is noticeable before annealing; however, the green up-conversion emission becomes
predominant after annealing. The mixture of (Er,Yb)3Al5O12 and α-(Al,Er,Yb)2O3 phases is more favorable for green up-conversion emissions due to an enhancement of the ESA (I) of 4I11/2+a photon→4F7/2 and ET (III) of 2F5/2(Yb3+)+4I11/2(Er3+)→2F7/2(Yb3+)+4F7/2(Er3+) processes. The two-photon absorption up-conversion process is involved in the green and red up-conversion emissions. The
results have proved that arc discharge synthesis is a new promising preparation technology for optical materials.

The electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) parameters (g-factors g

⊥ and zero-field splitting D) of two tetragonal 3d3 impurity centers M3d-VMg and M3d-Li+ (where M3d = Cr3+ or Mn4+, VMg is the Mg2+ vacancy) in M3d-doped MgO crystals are calculated from the high-order perturbation formulas including both the crystal-field (CF) and the
charge-transfer (CT) mechanisms for 3d3 ions in the tetragonal symmetry. The calculated results are in reasonable agreement with the experimental values. From the
calculations, it can be found that the relative importance of the CT mechanism for EPR parameters increases with increasing
valence state of the 3d3 ion. So, for the high-valence 3d
n
ions in crystals, a reasonable explanation of EPR parameters should take into account both CF and CT mechanisms. The defect
structures (characterized by the displacement ΔR of O2− in the intervening M3d and VMg or Li+ at the Mg2+ site) for these tetragonal impurity centers are obtained from the calculations. The results are consistent with the expectations

Two complete diagonalization (of energy matrix) methods (CDM-I and CDM-II) are used to calculate the six optical spectral band positions and nine spin-Hamiltonian (SH) parameters (g factors gi and hyperfine structure constants 171Ai, 173Ai, where i=x, y, z) for Yb3+ ions in the rhombic dodecahedral sites of garnets Y3Al5O12, Lu3Al5O12 and Y3Ga5O12. In CDM-I, the Hamiltonian concerning energy matrix does not contain the Zeeman and hyperfine interaction terms, whereas in CDM-II, it does. So, in CDM-I, the SH parameters are obtained by first-order perturbation method or the equivalence between SH and Zeeman term (or hyperfine interaction term) and in CDM-II, the SH parameters and optical spectral band positions are calculated together. The results obtained from both methods are not only close to each other, but also in reasonable agreement with the observed values. So the second-order perturbation formulas of SH parameters developed recently are incorrect and unnecessary. 相似文献

In this paper, based on the thermal conduction equations and the steady-state rate equations, a theoretical and numerical analysis of thermal effects is investigated for a single end pumped Yb-doped double-clad fiber laser (YDDC). The distributions of signal power and temperature for different pump powers and fiber parameters are compared. According to the results, the parameters of the optical-cavity have been optimized and an effective method has been adopted to reduce the thermal effects in an experimental investigation. As a result, an output power of 621 W has been obtained with a slope efficiency of 78%. 相似文献
