Synthesis and test of palladium-based nanostructured anodic electrocatalysts for hydrogen fuel cells with solid polymer electrolyte

Palladium-based nanostructured electrocatalysts on the Vulcan XC-72 carbon support for fuel cells with solid polymer electrolyte are synthesized and studied. In particular, electrochemical studies of the synthesized catalysts are carried out and membrane-electrode assemblies are assembled on their basis and tested. The test results indicate that platinum can be replaced with palladium in the hydrogen electrode of the fuel cells.     

Broadening of a two-photon resonance in a zinc atom in collisions with CO<Subscript>2</Subscript>, CO,and NO molecules

The broadening of a two-photon resonance is studied experimentally at the 4s¹S₀?6s³S₁ transition in a zinc atom upon absorption of two waves with a small detuning from an intermediate state in collisions with CO₂, CO, and NO molecules. The measured absolute values of broadening cross sections greatly exceed gas-kinetic cross sections and are (9.4±2.4, 6.5±1.6, and 3.9±1.0)×10^{? 14}cm² for CO², CO, and NO, respectively. Anomalously large rate constants and cross sections obtained in experiments are explained by the efficient resonance quenching of the excited states of zinc atoms in collisions with molecules accompanied by transfer of the energy of excited atoms to vibrational-rotational degrees of freedom of molecules.

Static conductivity of a binary alloy in the traveling-cluster approximation

A study is made of the problem of finding the static electrical conductivity of a binary alloy in the tight-binding model with offdiagonal disorder in the presence of short-range order in the system. A general scheme is proposed for constructing selfconsistent approximations for averaged products of two Green's functions in order to determine the kinetic properties of disordered alloys. The approach corresponds to the traveling-cluster approximation used to find the electron spectra of binary alloys. Operational Impedance of an Li–CFxCell

An operational-impedance approach to functional testing of lithium cells during their service is discussed. Operational-impedance spectra for a lithium cell discharged to different levels are taken. Parameters of its equivalent circuit are determined. The dependence of the cell's electrolyte resistance on the depth of discharge may be used for estimating the cell's efficiency long before a total discharge.
