A new superdeformed band, identified in data from the24Mg+173Yb reaction, is assigned to192Pb on the basis of excitation function and coincidence results. Properties of this band are discussed briefly, and compared to the superdeformed bands known in other Pb nuclei.  相似文献

Measurements of the reaction γp → pπ+π?π+π? are presented, in which π+π?π+π? systems with masses up to 3 GeV are produced from fragmentation of the incident photon. The reaction is dominated by production of the large peak of the ?′(1600) meson and, at higher masses ?2 GeV, y production of jet-like 4π systems. The ?′(1600) meson is produced by a predominantly s-channel helicity conserving mechanism. At higher masses there are also indications of peaks, of masses 1.3 GeV (the A2 meson) and 1.75 GeV, produced with a recoiling π meson by a mechanism consistent with the Deck effect.  相似文献

The nonrelativistic doubly differential cross section for electrons ejected from atoms by a massive beam of bare ions is derived in the binary encounter approximation. For cases already published the results sometimes differ by as much as a factor of 80 from those of Bonsen and Vriens, although the agreement should be exact. The case when the struck electron was initially very slow or stationary is also considered. Methods are presented for visualizing the kinematics including questions of minimum and maximum initial electron velocity for a given energy transfer. Also presented is a graphical means of visualizing the origin of the binary peak and of other effects for various atomic numbersZ of the target and various projectile velocities.  相似文献

Exclusive and inclusive pp photoproduction (with ? 2 accompanying charged particles) have been measured in the photon energy range 44–70 GeV. The exclusive process shows no prominent features; the inclusive process shows evidence for S(1936) production as a resonant-like structure with mass 1930 ± 2 MeV and width 12 ± 7 MeV.  相似文献

This work describes the synthesis and characterisation of a new series of polyphenylenes with up to four ferrocenyl moieties. The synthetic route involves the preparation of a number of novel precursors. Cyclopentadienones, generated from the two-fold Knoevenagel condensation of di-ferrocenyl propanones and diketones, are used in [2 + 4] Diels-Alder cycloadditions with appropriately substituted acetylenes. 13 is amongst the compounds isolated. It is the largest ferrocenyl-supported polyaromatic hydrocarbon (PAH) to date. Prepared via a Sonogashira cross-coupling reaction between ethynyl-Fc and iodo-HBC, it comprises a hexa-peri-hexabenzocoronene (HBC) core linked via acetylene to a ferrocenyl unit (Fc). The electrochemical and absorption properties of the ferrocenyl-polyphenylenes and the fully conjugated 13 are discussed. The NLO data for 13, determined by hyper Rayleigh scattering techniques, are compared to those of similar fulleryl-based compounds in the literature.  相似文献

Summary A hybrid life test procedure is discussed from the Bayesian viewpoint. A total ofn items is placed on test, failed items are either not replaced or are replaced, and the test is terminated either when a pre-chosen number,K, of items have failed, or when a pre-determined time on test has been reached. Posterior and predictive distributions are obtained under the assumption of an exponential failure distribution, and point and interval estimates are given for the mean life and the life of an untested item. Azimuthal correlations for large transverse momentum charged hadrons have been measured over a wide pseudorapidity range and full azimuth in Au+Au and p+p collisions at sqrt[s(NN)]=200 GeV. The small-angle correlations observed in p+p collisions and at all centralities of Au+Au collisions are characteristic of hard-scattering processes previously observed in high-energy collisions. A strong back-to-back correlation exists for p+p and peripheral Au+Au. In contrast, the back-to-back correlations are reduced considerably in the most central Au+Au collisions, indicating substantial interaction as the hard-scattered partons or their fragmentation products traverse the medium.  相似文献

We report a particle source imaging analysis based on two-pion correlations in high multiplicity Au+Au collisions at beam energies between 2A and 8A GeV. We apply the imaging technique introduced by Brown and Danielewicz, which allows a model-independent extraction of source functions with useful accuracy out to relative pion separations of about 20 fm. The extracted source functions have Gaussian shapes. Values of source functions at zero separation are almost constant across the energy range under study. Imaging results are found to be consistent with conventional source parameters obtained from a multidimensional Hanburg-Brown-Twiss analysis.  相似文献

Results are presented on inclusive φ photoproduction for incident energies between 25 and 70 GeV. Distributions in Feynman x, pT and decay angles are presented and interpreted in terms of quark fusion models. We demonstrate a similarity with the corresponding pion-induced reaction and obtain information on the hadronic nature of the photon.  相似文献
