trans‐1,2,3‐Tris(1‐hydroxycyclo­propyl)cyclopropane

The central three‐membered ring in the title compound, trans‐1,1′,1′′‐cyclo­propane‐1,2,3‐triyl­tris­(cyclo­propanol), C₁₂H₁₈O₃, shows pronounced asymmetry of the bond lengths, which is induced by the different orientations of the substituents. A network of hydrogen bonds links the mol­ecules into sheets.     

An effective route for the synthesis of cationic palladium complexes of general formula [(Acac)PdLL]A

A series of palladium complexes of general formula [(Acac)PdL¹L²]⁺A⁻, where L¹, L² = phosphines and A = BF₄, CF₃SO₃, were synthesized. Preliminary studies show that the complexes are active in selective dimerization of styrene and addition polymerization of norbornene.     

Synthesis of chelating tertiary phosphine oxides via palladium-catalysed C–P bond formation

Bis(diphenylphosphine oxides) and bis(tert-butyl(phenyl)phosphine oxides) of 1,10-phenanthroline, 2,2′-bipyridine and pyridine were synthesised in good yields via the Pd(OAc)₂/dppf mediated cross-coupling reactions between 6,6′-dichloro-2,2′-bipyridine, 2,9-dichloro-1,10-phenanthroline, or 2,6-dichloropyridine and the corresponding secondary phosphine oxides. These compounds represent potential tetradentate chelating ligands for ions of f-block elements.     

The influence of the conditions of the anodic formation and the thickness of Ag(I) oxide nanofilm on its semiconductor properties

The anodic formation of Ag(I) oxide nanofilms on polycrystalline silver and Ag–Au alloys as well as on low-index single crystals of silver in 0.1?М KOH was examined. By the methods of photocurrent i _ph and photopotential E _ph measurements, the n-type conductivity of Ag₂O film was established. Since the film (6–120 nm) is thinner than the space charge region, the dependence of photocurrent and photopotential appears on the film thickness L: i _ph ~L and E _ph ~L ². The transition from polycrystalline silver to single crystals as well as the addition of a small amount of gold (X _Au?≤?4 at.%) into the silver lattice decreases the degree of deviation from the stoichiometric composition Ag₂O. The parameters of Ag₂O film (optical absorption coefficient α, donor defects concentration N _D, space charge region W, and Debye’s length of screening L _D) depend on the index of a crystal face of silver, volume concentration of gold X _Au in the alloy, and film-formation potential E. At Е?=?0.52 V, the sequences of variation of these parameters correlate with the reticular density sequence. The growth of the potential disturbs these sequences. The band gap in Ag₂O formed on Ag_poly, Ag_hkl, and Ag–Au is 2.32, 2.23, and 2.19 eV. Flat band potential in Ag(I) oxide, formed on Ag_poly in 0.5 M KOH is 0.37 V. The appearance of the clear dependence between the state of the oxide/metal interface and the structure-sensitive parameters of semiconductor Ag(I) oxide phase allows considering the anodic formation of Ag₂O on Ag as a result of the primary direct electrochemical reaction, not of the precipitation from the near-electrode layer.     

Redox electrodeposition polymers: adaptation of the redox potential of polymer-bound Os complexes for bioanalytical applications

The design of polymers carrying suitable ligands for coordinating Os complexes in ligand exchange reactions against labile chloro ligands is a strategy for the synthesis of redox polymers with bound Os centers which exhibit a wide variation in their redox potential. This strategy is applied to polymers with an additional variation of the properties of the polymer backbone with respect to pH-dependent solubility, monomer composition, hydrophilicity etc. A library of Os-complex-modified electrodeposition polymers was synthesized and initially tested with respect to their electron-transfer ability in combination with enzymes such as glucose oxidase, cellobiose dehydrogenase, and PQQ-dependent glucose dehydrogenase entrapped during the pH-induced deposition process. The different polymer-bound Os complexes in a library containing 50 different redox polymers allowed the statistical evaluation of the impact of an individual ligand to the overall redox potential of an Os complex. Using a simple linear regression algorithm prediction of the redox potential of Os complexes becomes feasible. Thus, a redox polymer can now be designed to optimally interact in electron-transfer reactions with a selected enzyme.     

On polygonal measures with vanishing harmonic moments

A polygonal measure is the sum of finitely many real constant density measures supported on triangles in ?. Given a finite set S ? ?, we study the existence of polygonal measures spanned by triangles with vertices in S, all of whose harmonic moments vanish. We show that for generic S, the dimension of the linear space of such measures is \(\left( {_2^{|S| - 3} } \right)\) . We also investigate the situation in which the density for such measure takes on only values 0 or ±1. This corresponds to pairs of polygons of unit density having the same logarithmic potential at ∞. We show that such (signed) measures do not exist for |S| ≤ 5, but that for each n ≥ 6 one can construct an S, with |S| = n, giving rise to such a measure.
