The uranyl tellurite mineral moctezumite, Pb(UO2)(TeO3)2, was studied by Raman spectroscopy and complemented with infrared spectroscopy. The presence of the stretching and bending vibrations of uranyl (UO2)2+ and tellurite (TeO3)2− ions was inferred, and the observed bands were assigned to uranyl and tellurite units vibrations. U O bond lengths calculated from the spectra with two empirical relations are close to those inferred from the X‐ray single‐crystal structure of moctezumite. Surface spline interpolation when the domain is all of Rd isknown to converge much faster to the data function f than inthe case when the domain is the unit ball. This difference isunderstood to be due to boundary effects which, as will be shown,also affect the size of the surface spline's coefficients. Wepropose a modified form of surface spline interpolation which,to a great extent, overcomes these boundary effects. Raman spectroscopy complemented with infrared spectroscopy has been used to study a series of selected natural halogenated carbonates from different origins, including bastnasite, parisite and northupite. The position of CO32− symmetric stretching vibration varies with the mineral composition. An additional band for northupite at 1107 cm−1 is observed. Raman spectra of bastnasite, parisite and northupite show single bands at 1433, 1420 and 1554 cm−1, respectively, assigned to the ν3 (CO3)2− asymmetric stretching mode. The observation of additional Raman bands for the ν3 modes for some halogenated carbonates is significant in that it shows distortion of the CaO6 octahedron. No ν2 Raman bending modes are observed for these minerals. The band is observed in the infrared spectra, and multiple ν2 modes at 844 and 867 cm−1 are observed for parisite. A single intense infrared band is found at 879 cm−1 for northupite. Raman bands are observed forthe carbonate ν4 in‐phase bending modes at 722 cm−1 for bastnasite, 736 and 684 cm−1 for parisite and 714 cm−1 for northupite. Multiple bands are observed in the OH stretching region for selected bastansites and parisites, indicating the presence of water and OH units in the mineral structure. Background
Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) is an age-dependent neurodegenerative disease that causes motor neuron degeneration, paralysis and death. Mutations in Cu, Zn superoxide dismutase (SOD1) are one cause for the familial form of this disease. Transgenic mice expressing mutant SOD1 develop age-dependent motor neuron degeneration, skeletal muscle weakness, paralysis and death similar to humans. The mechanism whereby mutant SOD1 induces motor neuron degeneration is not understood but widespread mitochondrial vacuolation has been observed during early phases of motor neuron degeneration. How this vacuolation develops is not clear, but could involve autophagic vacuolation, mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) or uncharacterized mechanisms. To determine which of these possibilities are true, we examined the vacuolar patterns in detail in transgenic mice expressing mutant SOD1G93A. 相似文献18.

In contrast to the terminal phosphinidene complex PhPW(CO)(5) (2), which adds to [5]metacyclophane (1) in a 1,4-fashion, dichlorocarbene preferentially adds in a 1,2-fashion to the formal "anti-Bredt" type double bond of the aromatic ring of 1 to afford the norcaradiene 11b, which immediately rearranges to the bridged cycloheptatriene 12b and further by a [1,5] sigmatropic chlorine migration to the isomeric 13b as the first observable product. More slowly, the latter isomerizes via a dissociative mechanism to give 15b. A computational study supports the notion that the [1,5] chlorine migration in the rearrangement 12b --> 13b, for which an activation barrier of 70.2 kJ mol(-)(1) was calculated, is essentially concerted with minor charge separation. In contrast, the analogous [1,5] chlorine migration in the flat model compound 7,7-dichlorocycloheptatriene (12a) displays features of a dissociative pathway. 相似文献

The Raman spectra of shortite and barytocalcite complimented with infrared spectra have been used to characterise the structure of these carbonate minerals. The Raman spectrum of barytocalcite shows a single band at 1086cm(-1) attributed to the (CO(3))(2-) symmetric stretching mode, in contrast to shortite where two bands are observed. The observation of two bands for shortite confirms the concept of more than one crystallographically distinct carbonate unit in the unit cell. Multiple bands are observed for the antisymmetric stretching and bending region for these minerals proving that the carbonate unit is distorted in the structure of both shortite and barytocalcite. 相似文献
