Design and synthesis of two epoxide derivatives from 3-ethynylaniline

For several years ago, several epoxide derivatives have been prepared using different methods; however, some protocols use reagents which could be expensive and require specials conditions. The aim of this investigation was to prepare two new epoxide-derivatives from 3-ethynylaniline using some reactions such as oximation, acetylation, 2 + 2 addition, functionalized chloroamides, and epoxidation via Darzens reaction. The chemical characteristics of epoxide derivatives were determinate through a spectroscopic and spectrometric analysis. In conclusion, it is noteworthy that the reactions used in this study do not involve expensive reagents or special conditions for the synthesis of epoxide derivatives.     

On the Photophysical Properties of New Luminol Derivatives and their Synthetic Phthalimide Precursors

The photophysical properties of a series of structurally related 4-aminophthalimides and the corresponding 5-aminophthalic hydrazides (luminols) are reported. Absorption, steady-state, and time-resolved fluorescence spectra of luminols exhibited substitution, solvent, and pH dependence. Singlet lifetimes have been determined by time-resolved laser flash spectroscopy. UV spectra in gas phase and DMSO solution were calculated by TD-DFT which revealed the existence of two low-energy excited singlet states with strong pH-sensitivity.     

Synthesis and characterization of [Cu(Me2oxpn)Ni(NO2)(tmen)](ClO4): a single ferrimagnetic dinuclear CuII-NiII complex acting as weak molecule-based magnet

The new heterodinuclear complex [Cu(Me2oxpn)Ni(NO2)(tmen)](ClO4), that exhibits strong antiferromagnetic intramolecular coupling between CuII and NiII ions (ferrimagnetic behavior), shows ferromagnetic ordering at low temperature, due likely to a small canting phenomenon; it is one of the very few compounds made from isolated molecules that lead to cooperative magnetic behavior.     

Enantioselective synthesis of alkyl-branched alkanes. Synthesis Of the stereoisomers of 7,11-dimethylheptadecane and 7-methylheptadecane, components of the pheromone of lambdina species

The stereoisomers of 7,11-dimethylheptadecane and 7-methylheptadecane have been synthesized. The key step used has been the intramolecular hydride transfer from a secondary gamma-benzyloxy group with defined absolute stereochemistry to a cation generated by Lewis acid treatment of the suitable tertiary Co(2)(CO)(6)-complexed propargylic alcohol. The application of this method provided stereochemically defined alpha-alkyl-gamma-hydroxy-acetylenes that after hydrogenation and further reductive elimination of the hydroxyl group yielded sec-alkyl hydrocarbons.     

Using micelles for a new approach to fluorescent sensors for metal cations

A new approach based on self-assembly inside micelles has been individuated to prepare a system behaving as a water-operating selective fluorescent sensor for Cu2+ and Ni2+.
