A simple closed form formula for the estimation of π-mode stopband in an azimuthally asymmetric helical slow-wave structure (SWS) was developed following coupled-mode analysis
of multiple reflections of the degenerate space-harmonic modes from the support rod discontinuities. The method incorporates
the effects of circuit loss, and accrues the accuracy of 3D electromagnetic analysis by allowing the use of dispersion characteristics
obtainable from any standard electromagnetic modeling. The formula is simple and amenable to easy computation, even using
a scientific calculator, and without resorting to exhaustive and time-intensive numerical computation, and at the same time,
without sacrificing the accuracy in results. The analysis was benchmarked against published results and excellent agreement
observed. The analysis was further used for demonstrating the stopband phenomenon for a typical millimeter-wave helical slow-wave
structure. Compared to low frequency structures, the stopband phenomenon for a millimeter-wave structure was found to be more
pronounced, and an interesting inference was drawn as to how asymmetry induced stopband might be made to advantage in combating
π-mode instabilities in a millimeter-wave traveling-wave tube. 相似文献

We present detailed study of structure and interface morphology of an electrodeposited Cu/Ni film using X-ray diffraction, X-ray reflectivity, neutron reflectivity and atomic force microscopy (AFM) techniques. The crystalline structure of the film has been determined by X-ray diffraction, which suggest polycrystalline growth of the film. The depth profile of density in the sample has been obtained from specular X-ray and neutron reflectivity measurements. AFM image of the air-film interface shows that the surface is covered by globular islands of different sizes. The AFM height distribution of the surface clearly shows two peaks and the relief structure (islands) on the surface in the film, which can be treated as a quasi-two-level random rough surface structure. We have demonstrated that the detailed morphology of air-film interfaces, the quasi-two-level surface structure as well as morphology of the buried interfaces can be obtained from off-specular neutron reflectivity data. AFM and off-specular neutron reflectivity measurements also show that the morphologies of electrodeposited surface is distinctively different as compared to that of sputter-deposited surfaces in the sample. 相似文献

The phase diagram for a t-J bilayer as a function of interplanar
hopping, t⊥ and hole concentration, x is presented for a few different
values of interplanar exchange, J⊥ using variational Monte Carlo
calculations. The phase diagram shows rich features, such as a coexistence of
antiferromagnetism and superconductivity at underdoping, planar (d-wave) and
interplanar (dz-wave) superconducting correlations for small and large
J⊥, respectively at optimal and overdoping.
Another unusual feature appears in the form of a dome shaped structure in the phase
diagram where the superconducting correlations
are initially assisted as interplanar hopping is enhanced for small
t⊥, while larger t⊥ is found to be detrimental to

Herein, we report the construction of intracellular logic operations using luminescent histidine stabilized gold nanoclusters (His Au NCs). The luminescence intensity of His Au NCs was found to be significantly enhanced following interaction with zinc ions, owing to “Crystallization induced emission enhancement”. Further, the luminescence intensity of His Au NCs was found to be effectively quenched in presence of sulphide ions, owing to transformation of emissive His Au NCs to non-emissive gold nanoparticles. Thus, the collective and individual effects of zinc ions and sulphide ions causing significant variation in the luminescence intensity of His Au NCs, were used as input parameters for construction of intracellular logic operations such as Tri state buffer, “on-off” switch and INHIBIT gate within mammalian cells. 相似文献

Electrostatic potential, energies, and forces affect virtually any process in molecular biology, however, computing these quantities is a difficult task due to irregularly shaped macromolecules and the presence of water. Here, we report a new edition of the popular software package DelPhi along with describing its functionalities. The new DelPhi is a C++ object-oriented package supporting various levels of multiprocessing and memory distribution. It is demonstrated that multiprocessing results in significant improvement of computational time. Furthermore, for computations requiring large grid size (large macromolecular assemblages), the approach of memory distribution is shown to reduce the requirement of RAM and thus permitting large-scale modeling to be done on Linux clusters with moderate architecture. Preferential accumulation and agglomeration kinetics of nanoparticles suspended in an acoustically levitated water droplet
under radiative heating has been studied. Particle image velocimetry performed to map the internal flow field shows a single
cell recirculation with increasing strength for decreasing viscosities. Infrared thermography and high speed imaging show
details of the heating process for various concentrations of nanosilica droplets. Initial stage of heating is marked by fast
vaporization of liquid and sharp temperature rise. Following this stage, aggregation of nanoparticles is seen resulting in
various structure formations. At low concentrations, a bowl structure of the droplet is dominant, maintained at a constant
temperature. At high concentrations, viscosity of the solution increases, leading to rotation about the levitator axis due
to the dominance of centrifugal motion. Such complex fluid motion inside the droplet due to acoustic streaming eventually
results in the formation of a ring structure. This horizontal ring eventually reorients itself due to an imbalance of acoustic
forces on the ring, exposing larger area for laser absorption and subsequent sharp temperature rise. 相似文献

Summary: A new route was employed to produce composite polymer nanoparticles. First, a model polymer (a low molecular-weight polyisobutene) was dissolved in a model monomer (styrene) and then the solution was emulsified in water containing a pair of nonionic surfactants via a transitional phase inversion route. After phase inversion, which produced an oil-in-water miniemulsion, polymerisation of the vinyl monomer gave composite polymer particles. Low temperature emulsification was not practical because the inverted oil-in-water emulsions reinverted to water-in-oil emulsions upon raising the temperature to the reaction temperature. Miniemulsions prepared at the reaction temperature with low monomer content in the oil phase showed good stabilty in the course of polymerisation and produced latexes with a particle size similar to the size of drops in the initial miniemulsions. 相似文献
