In this work we propose and evaluate two variational data assimilation techniques for the estimation of low order surrogate experimental dynamical models for fluid flows. Both methods are built from optimal control recipes and rely on proper orthogonal decomposition and a Galerkin projection of the Navier Stokes equation. The techniques proposed differ in the control variables they involve. The first one introduces a weak dynamical model defined only up to an additional uncertainty time-dependent function whereas the second one, handles a strong dynamical constraint in which the dynamical system’s coefficients constitute the control variables. Both choices correspond to different approximations of the relation between the reduced basis on which is expressed the motion field and the basis components that have been neglected in the reduced order model construction. The deposition of preformed clusters on surfaces has been established as a new way for growing nano-suctures on surfaces.
It has been shown that supported island morphology relies on the dynamics of clusters, during the growth, giving rise to shapes
from compact to ramified types. This paper identifies and discusses, in the case of antimony cluster deposits, several processes
responsible for the non-equilibrium island shapes: limited kinetic cluster aggregation, size dependent coalescence, “wetting-like
behavior” of antimony clusters on antimony islands. Using successive predetermined cluster sizes during the deposition process
to synthesize polymorphic structure involves the interplay of those mechanisms.

Summary. We describe an algorithm to approximate the minimizer of an elliptic functional in the form on the set of convex functions u in an appropriate functional space X. Such problems arise for instance in mathematical economics [4]. A special case gives the convex envelope of a given function . Let be any quasiuniform sequence of meshes whose diameter goes to zero, and the corresponding affine interpolation operators. We prove that the minimizer over is the limit of the sequence , where minimizes the functional over . We give an implementable characterization of . Then the finite dimensional problem turns out to be a minimization problem with linear constraints.

Bee venom (BV) is one of the most remarkable natural products that has been a subject of studies since ancient times. Recent studies have shown that Apis mellifera syriaca venom possesses antibacterial as well as cytotoxic effects on cancer cell lines. The venom contains a variety of bioactive molecules—mainly melittin (MEL) and phospholipase A2 (PLA2), as well as other compounds that are not well characterized. In this work, we continue the biological characterization of A. mellifera syriaca venom by testing its anticoagulant effect on human plasma using the prothrombin time (PT) test, as well as assessing its proteolytic activity. In addition, the cytotoxicity of the crude venom—and of its two main components, MEL and PLA2—was tested on HeLa cancer cell lines for the first time. The results obtained showed the capacity of A. mellifera syriaca venom to increase clotting time, thereby proving its anticoagulant effect. Moreover, the venom did not demonstrate a significant proteolytic activity unless administrated at concentrations ≥ 5 mg/mL. Finally, we showed that crude A. mellifera syriaca venom, along with MEL, exhibit a strong in vitro cytotoxic effect on HeLa cancer cell lines, even at low concentrations. In summary, our findings could serve as a basis for the development of new natural-based drug candidates in the therapeutic field. 相似文献

The plant Psychotria kirkii hosts an obligatory bacterial symbiont, Candidatus Burkholderia kirkii, in nodules on their leaves. Recently, a glucosylated derivative of (+)-streptol, (+)-streptol glucoside, was isolated from the nodulated leaves and was found to possess a plant growth inhibitory activity. To establish a structure–activity relationship study, a convergent strategy was developed to obtain several pseudosugars from a single synthetic precursor. Furthermore, the glucosylation of streptol was investigated in detail and conditions affording specifically the α or β glucosidic anomer were identified. Although (+)-streptol was the most active compound, its concentration in P. kirkii plant leaves extract was approximately ten-fold lower than that of (+)-streptol glucoside. These results provide compelling evidence that the glucosylation of (+)-streptol protects the plant host against the growth inhibitory effect of the compound, which might constitute a molecular cornerstone for this successful plant-bacteria symbiosis. 相似文献

Neutral antimony clusters produced by a gas aggregation source have been deposited at room temperature on thin films of amorphous carbon and cleavage surfaces (0001) of graphite. Antimony islands generated from different mean size distributions of preformed clusters Sbn(n = 4, 90, 150, 250, 600, 2000) have been investigated by transmission electron microscopy. Only compact islands have been observed on amorphous carbon, whereas an evolution from compact to dendritic shapes occurs on graphite substrate as the mean size of the deposited clusters increases. For clusters containing more than 150 atoms the dendritic islands exhibit a fractal character whose dimensional analysis yields a fractal dimension of 1.63 ± 0.07. The different models for island growth are discussed in the light of these results. 相似文献

The cyclic depsipeptide FR900359 (FR), isolated from the tropical plant Ardisia crenata, is a strong and selective inhibitor of Gq proteins, making it an indispensable pharmacological tool to study Gq‐related processes, as well as a promising drug candidate. Gq inhibition is a novel mode of action for defense chemicals and crucial for the ecological function of FR, as shown by in vivo experiments in mice, its affinity to insect Gq proteins, and insect toxicity studies. The uncultured endosymbiont of A. crenata was sequenced, revealing the FR nonribosomal peptide synthetase (frs) gene cluster. We here provide a detailed model of FR biosynthesis, supported by in vitro enzymatic and bioinformatic studies, and the novel analogue AC‐1, which demonstrates the flexibility of the FR starter condensation domains. Finally, expression of the frs genes in E. coli led to heterologous FR production in a cultivable, bacterial host for the first time. 相似文献

The synthetic approaches towards crown-ether annelated dithiadiazafulvalenes (DTDAF) are described. As evidenced by electrochemistry, the reaction of N,N′-bridged-bisthiazolium salts in basic medium favors the formation of the DTDAF via an intramolecular coupling while the reaction of N,N′-bridged-bisthiazoline selone with trivalent phosphorus derivative leads to the donor core via an intermolecular coupling. The complexation of various metal cations on these crown-ether annelated DTDAF is investigated by electrochemistry. 相似文献
