The surface of phenol-based activated carbon (AC) was fluorinated at room temperature with different F2:N2 gas mixtures for use as an electrode material in an electric double-layer capacitor (EDLC). The effect of surface fluorination on EDLC electrochemical performance was investigated. The specific capacitance of the fluorinated AC-based EDLC was measured in a 1 M H2SO4 electrolyte, in which it was observed that the specific capacitances increased from 375 and 145 F g−1 to 491 and 212 F g−1 with the scan rates of 2 and 50 mV s−1, respectively, in comparison to those of an unfluorinated AC-based EDLC when the fluorination process was optimized via 0.2 bar partial F2 gas pressure. This enhancement in capacitance can be attributed to the synergistic effect of increased polarization on the AC surface, specific surface area, and micro and mesopore volumes, all of which were induced by the fluorination process. The observed increase in polarization was derived from a highly electronegative fluorine functional group that emerged due to the fluorination process. The increased surface area and pore volume of the AC was derived from the physical function of the fluorine functional group. 相似文献

We compared genetic variations in the VP1 gene of foot-and-mouth disease viruses (FMDVs) isolated since 2000 from various region of the world. We analyzed relative synonymous codon usage (RSCU) and phylogenetic relationship between geographical regions, and calculated the genetic substitution patterns between Korean isolate and those from other countries. We calculated the ratios of synonymously substituted codons (SSC) to all observed substitutions and developed a new analytical parameter, EMC (the ratio of exact matching codons within each synonymous substitution group) to investigate more detailed substitution patterns within each synonymous codon group. We observed that FMDVs showed distinct RSCU patterns according to phylogenetic relationships in the same serotype (serotype O). Moreover, while the SSC and EMC values of FMDVs decreased according to phylogenetic distance, G + C composition at the third codon position was strictly conserved. Although there was little variation among the SSC values of 18 amino acids, more dynamic differences were observed in EMC values. The EMC values of 4- and 6-fold degenerate amino acids showed significantly lower values while most 2-fold degenerate amino acids showed no significant difference. Our findings suggest that different EMC patterns among the 18 amino acids might be an important factor in determining the direction of evolution in FMDV. 相似文献

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) contains growth factors that promote tissue regeneration. Previously, we showed that heparin-conjugated fibrin (HCF) exerts the sustained release of growth factors with affinity for heparin. Here, we hypothesize that treatment of skin wound with a mixture of PRP and HCF exerts sustained release of several growth factors contained in PRP and promotes skin wound healing. The release of fibroblast growth factor 2, platelet-derived growth factor-BB, and vascular endothelial growth factor contained in PRP from HCF was sustained for a longer period than those from PRP, calcium-activated PRP (C-PRP), or a mixture of fibrin and PRP (F-PRP). Treatment of full-thickness skin wounds in mice with HCF-PRP resulted in much faster wound closure as well as dermal and epidermal regeneration at day 12 compared to treatment with either C-PRP or F-PRP. Enhanced skin regeneration observed in HCF-PRP group may have been at least partially due to enhanced angiogenesis in the wound beds. Th-2-biased immune responses are known to play a key role in the pathogenesis of atopic dermatitis. In particular, the macrophage-derived chemokine CCL22 is directly implicated in Th-2-associated skin inflammatory reactions, and its levels are significantly elevated in serum and are correlated with disease severity in atopic dermatitis. In this study, we tested the development of genetic therapeutic options to treat atopic dermatitis using bacteria expressing miRNA. We constructed a recombinant strain of Salmonella typhimurium expressing CCL22 miRNA (ST-miRCCL22) for the in vivo knockdown of CCL22. The CCL22 gene was downregulated with CCL22 miRNA in activated lymphocytes. In mice with a cutaneous disease similar to atopic dermatitis, interleukin-4 was inhibited and interferon-g was induced after treatments with ST-miRCCL22. Furthermore, CCL22 levels were suppressed in the atopic mice treated with ST-miRCCL22. These results suggest that ST-miRCCL22 may be an effective genetic agent for treating atopic dermatitis. 相似文献

This paper discusses discrete-time single server Geo/G/1 queues that are subject to failure due to a disaster arrival. Upon a disaster arrival, all present customers leave the system. At a failure epoch, the server is turned off and the repair period immediately begins. The repair times are commonly distributed random variables. Organic and inorganic polymeric thin films have numerous applications, including solar cells, biodetection, and nanocomposites. Improving our understanding of the fundamental material behavior is critical to designing polymers with ideal behavior and increased lifetime. However, there are limited nondestructive characterization methods that are able to perform these high-resolution measurements. In this Letter, we demonstrate a method that is able to detect temperature-induced changes in the refractive index of polystyrene polymer thin films as small as 10(-7). A fluidic lens with double-sided polydimethylsiloxane membranes of different thicknesses that complement each other to reduce spherical aberration was fabricated. It is operated with magnetic repulsion induced by the current in the voice coil. The optical power of the proposed lens was observed to be considerably higher compared to that of a typical convex glass lens. The focal lengths of rays passing through the optical axis and the edge of the lens was measured and compared with the simulation data. The spherical aberration of the proposed lens was observed to be negligibly small compared to that of a plano-convex lens. 相似文献

In order to improve the phosphor efficiency of yellow emission of the phosphor-converted white light emitting diode (pcW-LED), the Ba2+ Mg2+ co-doped Sr2SiO4:Eu phosphors were synthesized and were coated with thin and uniform TiO2. The TiO2 layer with 20 nm was uniformly coated over the phosphor surface. The photoluminescence (PL) properties of the TiO2-coated phosphors showed improved yellow-emission intensity compared to the pristine phosphors. The temperature dependence of photoluminescence was measured from 25 to 150 °C. The TiO2-coated phosphors showed superior thermal quenching property compared to pristine phosphors. We concluded that the TiO2-coated surface of the phosphor is an effective way to improve the phosphor efficiency and enhance the thermal quenching stability. 相似文献

We have improved the electro‐optical properties of a bistable cholesteric liquid crystal display (Ch‐LCD) that is driven by a 3+2 dynamic driving scheme (3+2 DDS). The best contrast ratio is achieved at the selection period of 1.2–1.5 ms/line and the temperature range 26–30°C. The suitable preparation period and evolution period for contrast ratio are 40 times and 20 times the selection time, respectively. In the 3+2 DDS, rubbing the homeotropic alignment layer increases reflectivity of the ON state and keeps the reflectivity of the OFF state at the same level, so reflectivity and contrast ratio alike increase as a result. However, in a delayed homeotropic reset driving method, when the homeotropic alignment layer is rubbed, the reflectivity of both the ON and OFF states increases, thus the contrast ratio decreases. The combination of driving method and aligned surface morphology influences the relaxation mechanism in the cholesteric texture. By optimizing panel condition, we have demonstrated an 8.4″ foldable VGA Ch‐LCD that exhibits high reflectivity and contrast ratio with an addressing speed of around 1.2 ms/line. 相似文献

Six kinds of organoclays were prepared through three kinds of polyols (PTMG, PEA and PCL) to investigate the effects of molecular weight and the chemical structure of organifiers. PTMG based organoclays showed higher ion-exchanged fraction than other organoclays and long chain organifier showed better efficiency in ion-exchanged fraction in the case of PTMG based organifiers. From WAXD and TEM analysis, it was confirmed that PTMG based organoclays formed partially exfoliated or fully exfoliated silicate layer structures. PDLA/clay nanocomposites were prepared by in-situ ring-opening polymerization of D-lactide with PTMG based organoclays as macro-initiators in the presence of equimolar Sn(Oct)2/PPh3 complex catalysts. The molecular weight of PDLA/clay nanocomposite decreased as increasing the feeding amount of organoclay because organoclay had hydroxyl terminal groups which can initiate the ring-opening polymerization of D-lactide. From TGA analysis, thermal stabilities of PDLA/clay nanocomposites improved with increasing organoclay content. From WAXD and TEM analysis, organoclay which was prepared by high molecular weight of PTMG based organifier was effective on the exfoliation of silicate layers in the in-situ polymerized PDLA/clay nanocomposite. 相似文献
