The effect of gas entry point on the plasma chemistry, ion energy distributions and resulting alumina thin film growth have been investigated for a d.c. cathodic arc with an aluminum cathode operated in an oxygen/argon atmosphere. Ions of aluminum, oxygen and argon, as well as ions originating from the residual gas are investigated, and measurements for gas entry at both the cathode and close to the substrate are compared. The latter was shown to result in higher ion flux, lower levels of ionised residual gas, and lower ion energies, as compared to gas inlet at the cathode. These plasma conditions that apply when gas entry at the substrate is used result in a higher film deposition rate, less residual gas incorporation, and more stoichiometric alumina films. The results show that the choice of gas entry point is a crucial parameter in thin film growth using reactive PVD processes such as reactive cathodic arc deposition.  相似文献

The authors report molecular dynamics simulations of alumina (Al2O3) during crystallization from the melt. Using liquid quench methods, they investigate the effect of cooling rate on the structural evolution of the alpha, kappa, and the bixbyite phases. A critical temperature window is identified, where the time spent in this window is crucial in determining the extent to which the systems approach crystallinity. A strong dependence is observed between the final structure and the quench rate, which is most pronounced for the alpha phase and to lesser extent for the other phases. The results show that the different phases have different tendencies to crystallize that are determined by energetics, complexity of crystal structure, and the number of metastable states.  相似文献

CZE and CIEF were so far applied to the analysis of tobacco mosaic virus, Semliki forest virus, human rhinovirus, adenovirus, norovirus and the bacteriophages T5 and MS2. The concentration of viral or subviral particles, of capsid proteins and viral genomes were determined, their electrophoretic mobilities and pI values were measured and bioaffinity reactions between viruses and antibodies, antibody fragments and receptor fragments were assessed. The role of detergents added to the BGE to obtain reproducible electrophoretic conditions was elucidated. The analytes were detected via their UV-absorbance or via fluorescence after derivatization of the viral capsid, the nucleic acid, or both. A new dimension to the detection is added by the possibility of making use of the viral infectivity. At least in theory, this allows for the unequivocal identification of a single infectious virus particle after collection at the capillary outlet. This review summarizes the 25 papers so far published on this topic.  相似文献

Zusammenfassung Ein Verfahren zur Gewinnung von reinen Radiozuckern sehr hoher Aktivität ohne Verwendung inaktiver Träger wird beschrieben. Grüne Blätter werden zur Assimilation von Radiokohlensäure veranlaßt. Sodann werden die Blätter mit Alkohol und Wasser extrahiert. Der alkoholische Extrakt wird mit Äther und Wasser geschieden, der wäßrige Extrakt hydrolysiert. Darauf werden beide Extrakte mit Ionenaustauschern gereinigt und papierchromatographisch auf reine Glukose und Fruktose aufgearbeitet. Die spezifische Aktivität der derart gereinigten Glukose beträgt bis zu 63·106, der Fruktose bis zu 30·106 Zerfälle/Min. mg. Dies dürften bei weitem die höchstaktiven Zucker sein, deren Darstellung in der Literatur beschrieben worden ist.Mit 2 Abbildungen.  相似文献

Horseradish peroxidase (HRP) was immobilized onto both plasticized and unplasticized polyvinylchloride (PVC) and ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE). Plasma immersion ion implantation (PIII) in a nitrogen plasma with 20 kV bias was used to facilitate covalent immobilization and to improve the wettability of the surfaces. The surfaces and immobilized protein were studied using attenuated total reflection infrared (ATR-IR) spectroscopy and water contact angle measurements. Protein elution on exposure to repeated sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) washing was used to assess the strength of HRP immobilization. The presence of low molecular weight components (plasticizer, additives in solvent, unreacted monomers, adsorbed molecules on surface) was found to have a major influence on the strength of immobilization and the conformation of the protein on the samples not exposed to the PIII treatment. A phenomenological model considering interactions between the low molecular weight components, the protein molecule, and the surface is developed to explain these observations.  相似文献

Filtering of plasmas by curved solenoidal ducts is well established as a method of removing macroparticles. By analyzing the interactions of planar probes with the drifting plasma of the cathodic arc, new insights have been obtained into the operation of these ducts. Theoretical modeling of these interactions suggests, and experiment confirms, that the use of a separate biased electrode on the inside of the duct gives enhanced transmission without drawing excessive electron current. Theoretical modeling of a negatively biased planar electrode lying parallel to the drift velocity as well as experiment both show that ions are captured effectively onto the electrode producing a macroparticle free film at good deposition rates. The application of pulsed high voltage to the substrate placed at the exit of the duct is treated theoretically, and a model is proposed which gives a good agreement with the experimental concentration profile for a silicon surface coated and simultaneously implanted with titanium  相似文献

The objective of this study was to determine if topical anesthesia to the larynx and pharynx affects vocal fold motion during dynamic voice evaluation with transnasal flexible endoscopy. Transnasal dynamic laryngeal examinations of 10 patients with no voice complaints were evaluated by five blinded fellowship-trained laryngologists. Each patient was examined before and after application of topical anesthetic. Reviewers rated briskness of right and left vocal fold movement and longitudinal tension on a visual analogue scale. Statistical comparisons were made between individual subject scores before and after anesthetic application. Inter-rater reliability was also assessed. No statistical difference was observed between subject scores before and after anesthetic application. Average intraclass correlation coefficients were 0.643 and 0.591 for pre- and postanesthesia scores, respectively. Application of topical anesthesia to the larynx and pharynx does not affect vocal fold motion.  相似文献

The different electrophoretic behavior of the members of two groups of proteins with respect to the absence or presence of detergent additives in the BGE was explored. Recombinant soluble concatemers of repeat 3 of the very low density lipoprotein (VLDL)-receptor fused at their N-terminus to maltose-binding protein (MBP) exhibited different electrophoretic mobilities in borate buffer (pH 8.3) in the absence and in the presence of dodecyl-PEG ether (D-PEG). This enabled the separation of the receptor fragments from MBP after enzymatic cleavage. In the presence of SDS, the mobilities of all proteins approached the same values with increase in detergent concentrations. In contrast, viral capsid proteins of a human rhinovirus (HRV) exhibited different migration in the presence of the additive. For the receptor proteins, extreme apparent high plate numbers were observed when the SDS concentration in the sample and the separation buffer differed. This effect might be erroneously interpreted as a high efficiency. However, it is due to the conductivity boundaries caused by the sample and leads to a total loss of separation.  相似文献
