A relatively new class of scheduling problems consists of multiple agents who compete on the use of a common processor. We focus in this paper on a two-agent setting. Each of the agents has a set of jobs to be processed on the same processor, and each of the agents wants to minimize a measure which depends on the completion times of its own jobs. The goal is to schedule the jobs such that the combined schedule performs well with respect to the measures of both agents. We consider measures of minmax and minsum earliness. Specifically, we focus on minimizing maximum earliness cost or total (weighted) earliness cost of one agent, subject to an upper bound on the maximum earliness cost of the other agent. We introduce a polynomial-time solution for the minmax problem, and prove NP-hardness for the weighted minsum case. The unweighted minsum problem is shown to have a polynomial-time solution. 相似文献

The classical Lawler’s Algorithm provides an optimal solution to the single-machine scheduling problem, where the objective is minimizing maximum cost, given general non-decreasing, job-dependent cost functions, and general precedence constraints. First, we extend this algorithm to allow job rejection, where the scheduler may decide to process only a subset of the jobs. A newly isolated indigenous strain BN10 identified as Pseudomonas aeruginosa was found to produce glycolipid (i.e., rhamnolipid-type) biosurfactants. Two representative rhamnolipidic fractions, RL-1 and RL-2, were separated on silica gel columns and their chemical structure was elucidated by a combination of nuclear magnetic resonance and mass spectroscopy. Subsequently, their cytotoxic effect on cancer cell lines HL-60, BV-173, SKW-3, and JMSU-1 was investigated. RL-1 was superior in terms of potency, causing 50 % inhibition of cellular viability at lower concentrations, as compared to RL-2. Furthermore, the results from fluorescent staining analysis demonstrated that RL-1 inhibited proliferation of BV-173 pre-B human leukemia cells by induction of apoptotic cell death. These findings suggest that RL-1 could be of potential for application in biomedicine as a new and promising therapeutic agent. 相似文献

We discuss the structure of the momentum transfer distributions for the diffractive dissociation processes p → nπ+, p → Δ++π? and . In the near-threshold mass region a clear break of slope is found around t′KK ~ 0.25 GeV2 for the two baryonic channels, whereas no comparable structure is seen for the mesonic system. The differential cross section exhibits a nearly exponential behaviour up to t′pp ~ 0.6 GeV2, falling over three orders of magnitude. The slope variations and breaks are strongly correlated both to the mass region considered and to the decay angle of the fragmentation system. 相似文献
