ESR spectra and optical absorption spectra of γ-irradiated poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) at 77°K and the photo- and thermal bleaching behavior have been studied. γ-Irradiation of PMMA yields a singles spectrum with a line width of 6 G which is bleachable with visible light. This species is assigned to the polymer cation. The unbleached species consists mainly of a four-line spectrum and is assigned to a polymer radical having a different CH2 conformation from the usual nine-line spectrum. On subsequent warming to room temperature, the spectrum changes into the nine-line spectrum. γ-Irradiation of PMMA containing biphenyl as an additive at 77°K gives biphenyl cation. Yield of polymer radical is reduced by the addition of biphenyl and 2-methyltetrahydrofuran. A mechanism is proposed which is consistent with the experimental results. 相似文献

A quantitative analysis of the retention of benzoic acid derivatives in reversed-phase liquid chromatography was achieved using a molecular mechanics calculation in the CAChe program. Interaction energy values were calculated for both molecular and ionic forms. The predicted retention factors of partially ionized acids obtained using a combination of dissociation constants well correlated with the values measured by reversed-phase liquid chromatography with pH-controlled eluents. A microwave-induced plasma emission spectrophotometric detector (MIPD) was used as an element-specific detector for capillary column gas chromatography. The atmospheric pressure microwave helium plasma generated with an original device called a SURFATRON was used as an atomization and excitation source. Combining a photodiode array spectrophotometer with the above system made the emission spectrophotometric detector very powerful. A wide range of spectra could be instantly monitored without any mechanical device. However, the spectrum of atmospheric helium emission plasma was complicated by the presence of air around the plasma discharge. Atomic correlation between adjacent graphene layers was elucidated for double-wall carbon nanotubes (DWNTs) through a chiral index assignment of two nested nanotubes by high-resolution transmission electron microscopy. Our analysis provides a rather constant diameter difference close to 0.75 nm but no chiral angle correlation between the constituent nanotubes in the concentric DWNTs. The local atomic correlation as a commensurate graphene stacking was repeatedly found in eccentric DWNTs and circumscribed nanotubes, which should lead to elastic deformation and bundling of nanotubes. 相似文献

A novel diffractive optical element was constructed by means of gel electrophoresis. Five capillaries were filled with a methylene blue solution and inserted into a slab gel. An electrical potential was then applied to the slab gel. Methylene Blue in the capillaries underwent electrophoretic migration, forming clear blue bands in the gel. The bands functioned as a transmission grating, and diffracted a laser beam. The intensity of the diffracted light increased with increasing the concentration of methylene blue. 相似文献
