The hydrothermally synthesized 1D homochiral nickel aspartate oxide [Ni2O(l-Asp)(H2O)2].4H2O is based on infinite helical chains of edge- and corner-sharing nickel octahedra. It represents the first example of a chiral one-dimensional compound with an extended helical TM-O-TM subnetwork synthesized as an optically pure product. Its structure was determined ab initio by real-space methods from laboratory powder diffraction data.  相似文献

We have studied the optical transitions in artificial atoms consisting of one to ten electrons occupying the conduction levels in ZnO nanocrystals. We analyzed near IR absorption spectra of assemblies of weakly coupled ZnO nanocrystals for a gradually increasing electron number and found four allowed dipole transitions with oscillator strengths in quantitative agreement with tight-binding theory. Furthermore, this spectroscopy provides the single-particle energy separation between the conduction levels of the ZnO quantum dots.  相似文献

We study the quasiparticle gap in semiconductor nanostructures versus dimensionality and compare it to the value obtained in the local density approximation. We first develop general arguments based on the GW approach which we then substantiate numerically by a tight binding version of this theory. We show that the gap correction is dominated by a macroscopic surface self-polarization term and point out its nonmonotonic behavior versus dimensionality.  相似文献

Motivated by recent measurements of electron paramagnetic resonance spectra in modulation-doped CdMnTe quantum wells [Phys. Rev. Lett. 91, 077201 (2003)]], we develop a theory of collective spin excitations in quasi-two-dimensional diluted magnetic semiconductors. Our theory explains the anomalously large Knight shift found in these experiments as a consequence of collective coupling between Mn-ion local moments and itinerant-electron spins. We use this theory to discuss the physics of ferromagnetism in (II,Mn)VI quantum wells and to speculate on the temperature at which it is likely to be observed in n-type modulation-doped systems.  相似文献

We examined whether cerebral activation due to secondary hyperalgesia resulting from intrajoint capsaicin injection could be detected using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) in alpha-chloralose anesthetized rats. We also examined whether we could detect analgesic changes in the central nervous system response to pain as a result of physiotherapy joint manipulation. Robust activation of areas of the brain known to be associated with the processing of pain, namely the anterior cingulate (bilateral), frontal cortex (bilateral) and sensory motor cortex (contralateral), was found in all animals following injection of 25 microl of capsaicin (128 microg/ml in 7.5% DMSO) into the plantar surface of the rat hindpaw (n = 7) and 75 microL into the ankle joint (n = 13). Significantly greater activation was observed when capsaicin was injected into the plantar surface of the hindpaw compared to the ankle joint. Mechanical allodynia and secondary hyperalgesia following capsaicin injection into the ankle joint also resulted in activation of the same brain regions. Trends toward decreased areas of activation in brain regions associated with pain in animals following physiotherapy joint mobilization were observed.  相似文献

We describe an MR-compatible ventilator that is computer controlled to generate a variety of breathing patterns, to minimize image degrading effects of breathing motion, and to support delivery of gas anesthesia and experimental inhalational gases. A key feature of this ventilator is the breathing valve that attaches directly to the endotracheal tube to reduce dead volume and allows independent control of inspiratory and expiratory phases of ventilation. This ventilator has been used in a wide variety of MR and x-ray microscopy studies of small animals, especially for MR imaging the lungs with hyperpolarized gases ((3)He & (129)Xe).  相似文献

Let be a finite field, the degree extension of , and the general linear group with entries in . This paper studies the ``generalized Steinberg" (GS) representations of and proves the equivalence of several different characterizations for this class of representations. As our main result we show that the union of the class of cuspidal and GS representations of is in natural one-one correspondence with the set of Galois orbits of characters of , the regular orbits of course corresponding to the cuspidal representations. Besides using Green's character formulas to define GS representations, we characterize GS representations by associating to them idempotents in certain commuting algebras corresponding to parabolic inductions and by showing that GS representations are the sole components of these induced representations which are ``generic" (have Whittaker vectors).

The core level electron spectra of CO2, CS2 and COS excited by Mg Kα radiation have been studied to identify shake-up satellite lines associated with ionization from these levels. A number of such lines have been seen and possible assignments have been suggested using the excited states of the molecule as a guide. The valence spectra have also been recorded and they too were found to be rich in shake-up structure. The observed variation of the valence line intensities is discussed and compared with predictions made from an intensity model. The validity of distinguishing between π and σ symmetries in linear molecules in applying the intensity model is confirmed.  相似文献

Some complexes of the thiocyanates, chlorides, bromides, iodides, nitrates and sulphates of cobalt(II) with 2-, 3-, 4-cyanopyridines have been prepared. The stereochemical configurations of the complexes were deduced using spectral and magnetic properties. The decomposition of the complexes was studied by thermogravimetry and differential thermal analysis.  相似文献
