Benzoxazolinones. II. Synthesis of 3-vinylbenzoxazolinones and 3-vinylbenzoxazolinethione

A method has been developed for obtaining 3-vinylbenzoxazolinones and 3-vinylbenzoxazolinethione. It has been shown that it is also possible to obtain 3-methylbenzoxazolinethione by this method in good yield (76%).     

Well‐posedness of initial boundary value problems on longitudinal impact on a composite linear viscoelastic bar

We investigate the correctness of the initial boundary value problem of longitudinal impact on a piecewise‐homogeneous semi‐infinite bar consisting of a semi‐infinite elastic part and finite length visco‐elastic part whose hereditary properties are described by linear integral relations with an arbitrary difference kernel. Introducing nonstationary regularization in boundary conditions and in the contact conditions, the well‐posedness of the considered problem is proved. Copyright © 2017 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.     

Low field magnetocaloric effect and heat capacity of A-site ordered NdBaMn2O6 manganite

The magnetocaloric effect (MCE) in the A-site ordered manganite NdBaMn₂O₆ is studied. The MCE in this compound has an anomalous behavior. In low magnetic fields, the abrupt transitions between the direct and inverse magnetocaloric effects are observed. In a relatively strong magnetic field , the direct and inverse effects are observed only at cooling, while the heating mode reveals only an inverse MCE. The value of the MCE ( and for  kOe) does not reach high values, but the proximity of the effects occurring at room temperatures expects the use of both effects in the magnetic cooling technology.     

Structural and dynamic microheterogeneity of rubber powder

Spin probe EPR spectroscopy was used to study the local dynamics of vulcanizates of an ethylenepropylene-diene elastomer and rubber powders prepared from them. It was revealed that the preparation of rubber powders is accompanied by the formation of a polymer network with an essentially nonuniform local structure.     

Density functional and spectroscopic studies of nitrogen inversion in substituted dizocilpines

While developing a synthesis towards tagged dizocilpine (MK‐801) analogues, we observed highly restricted inversion of a nitrogen centre in a number hydroxylamines obtained as key intermediates. These compounds are shown to possess some of the structural elements which are expected to significantly hinder the nitrogen inversion, potentially leading to hydroxylamines with a chiral nitrogen centre. Free energy barriers (ΔG^≠) of the nitrogen inversion were estimated to be ca. 22 kcal mol^?1 at temperatures near 420 K using variable temperature NMR measurements in DMSO‐d₆. Further density functional studies of a number model systems were undertaken in order to better rationalize the measured inversion barriers and follow the role of various structural factors in raising the barrier height of the nitrogen inversion process. Use of gas-liquid chromatography for analyzing products of carbonylation of certain pyridine bases

A method has been elaborated for the quantitative gas-chromatographic analysis of a mixture of piperidine, N-formylpiperidine, and pyridine on polyethylene glycol-4400 applied onto a chromosorb and NaCl, and apezon L, applied onto NaCl. The relative retentive volumes and heats of solution of the components of the mixture were calculated.
