Nanocomposites of Ag/TiO(2) nanowires with enhanced photoelectrochemical performance have been prepared by a facile solvothermal synthesis of TiO(2) nanowires and subsequent photoreduction of Ag(+) ions to Ag nanoparticles (AgNPs) on the TiO(2) nanowires. The as-prepared nanocomposites exhibited significantly improved cathodic photocurrent responses under visible-light illumination, which is attributed to the local electric field enhancement of plasmon resonance effect near the TiO(2) surface rather than by the direct transfer of charge between the two materials. The visible-light-driven photocatalytic performance of these nanocomposites in the degradation of methylene blue dye was also studied, and the observed improvement in photocatalytic activity is associated with the extended light absorption range and efficient charge separation due to surface plasmon resonance effect of AgNPs.  相似文献

Zika virus (ZIKV) represents a re-emerging threat to global health due to its association with congenital birth defects. ZIKV NS2B-NS3 protease is crucial for virus replication by cleaving viral polyprotein at various junctions to release viral proteins and cause cytotoxic effects in ZIKV-infected cells. This study characterized the inhibitory effects of doxycycline against ZIKV NS2B-NS3 protease and viral replication in human skin cells. The in silico data showed that doxycycline binds to the active site of ZIKV protease at a low docking energy (−7.8 Kcal/mol) via four hydrogen bonds with the protease residues TYR1130, SER1135, GLY1151, and ASP83. Doxycycline efficiently inhibited viral NS2B-NS3 protease at average human temperature (37 °C) and human temperature with a high fever during virus infection (40 °C). Interestingly, doxycycline showed a higher inhibitory effect at 40 °C (IC50 = 5.3 µM) compared to 37 °C (9.9 µM). The virus replication was considerably reduced by increasing the concentration of doxycycline. An approximately 50% reduction in virus replication was observed at 20 µM of doxycycline. Treatment with 20 µM of doxycycline reduced the cytopathic effects (CPE), and the 40 µM of doxycycline almost eliminated the CPE of human skin cells. This study showed that doxycycline binds to the ZIKV protease and inhibits its catalytic activity at a low micro-molecular concentration range. Treatment of human skin fibroblast with doxycycline eliminated ZIKV infection and protected the cells against the cytopathic effects of the infection.  相似文献

Herein we report on the study of the interactions between alkanediyl-α,ω-type cationic dimeric (gemini) surfactant and the nonionic Triton X-100 in aqueous medium. The critical micelle concentrations of binary mixtures were determined by fluorometric study. Using the regular solution theory for the analysis of the experimental data, the attractive nature of interactions and synergistic behavior of gemini surfactant and Triton X-100 mixture were demonstrated. The micelle aggregation number was measured using steady state fluorescence quenching method. The micropolarity, binding constant and dielectric constant of mixed systems were determined from the ratio of peak’s intensity (I 1/I 3) in the pyrene fluorescence emission spectrum.  相似文献

A conformational search of 5,12-dihydro-5,12-ethanonaphthacene-13-carbaldehyde predicted the presence of twelve conformations. The geometry of the twelve conformations established at the B3LYP/6-31G* level showed only six unique ones. Vibrational frequencies were calculated at the B3LYP/6-31G* level. The calculated vibrational frequencies enabled us to interpret the appearance of two bands corresponding to the C=O stretching mode of 5,12-dihydro-5,12-ethanonaphthacene-13-carbaldehyde. The first band corresponded to the 5,12-dihydro-5,12-ethanonaphthacene-13-carbaldehyde structure where the aldehyde group O atom was above the benzene or naphthalene ring. The other band was due to the O atom of the aldehyde group pointing out of the benzene or naphthalene ring.  相似文献

The zebrafish embryo is a small, cheap, whole-animal model which may replace rodents in some areas of research. Unfortunately, zebrafish embryos are commonly cultured in microtitre plates using cell-culture protocols with static buffer replacement. Such protocols are highly invasive, consume large quantities of reagents and do not readily permit high-quality imaging. Zebrafish and rodent embryos have previously been cultured in static microfluidic drops, and zebrafish embryos have also been raised in a prototype polydimethylsiloxane setup in a Petri dish. Other than this, no animal embryo has ever been shown to undergo embryonic development in a microfluidic flow-through system. We have developed and prototyped a specialized lab-on-a-chip made from bonded layers of borosilicate glass. We find that zebrafish embryos can develop in the chip for 5 days, with continuous buffer flow at pressures of 0.005-0.04 MPa. Phenotypic effects were seen, but these were scored subjectively as 'minor'. Survival rates of 100% could be reached with buffer flows of 2 μL per well per min. High-quality imaging was possible. An acute ethanol exposure test in the chip replicated the same assay performed in microtitre plates. More than 100 embryos could be cultured in an area, excluding infrastructure, smaller than a credit card. We discuss how biochip technology, coupled with zebrafish larvae, could allow biological research to be conducted in massive, parallel experiments, at high speed and low cost.  相似文献

Multiple-quantum well InGaAs laser structures emitting at 2  \(\upmu \) m with different barriers are modeled using commercial software that combines gain calculation with 2-D simulations of carrier transport and waveguiding. The model is calibrated using experimental results. The simulated results show a non-uniform distribution of carriers in different quantum wells with InGaAlAs barriers which affects their contribution to the gain. The carrier uniformity and a reduction in threshold current density are observed when we use an InGaAs barrier material. The quantum well number was varied from 2 to 4 in both structures and a comparison of the threshold current and its variation with temperature were investigated.  相似文献

With an aim to develop more effective and affordable anticancer agents possessing a unique mechanism of action, we designed and synthesized derivatives of spirooxindole-pyrrolidine heterocyclic hybrids in good yields through a one-pot three-component (3+2) cycloaddition strategy. The synthesized compounds were characterized thoroughly for the physicochemical properties by making use of FT-IR, NMR spectroscopy, and mass spectrometry. Further, these compounds have been evaluated for the influence of anticancer activity against HepG2 cells up to 200 µg/mL concentration. The highly active molecular scaffold was tested for the in-depth mechanistic studies, and it was found that the major pathway of cell death is apoptosis which occurs through the induction of reactive oxygen species followed by the involvement of caspases.  相似文献

Three different long‐chain branch (LCB) formation mechanisms for ethylene polymerization with metallocenes in solution polymerization semi‐batch and continuous stirred‐tank reactors are modeled to predict the microstructure of the resulting polymer. The three mechanisms are terminal branching, C–H bond activation, and intramolecular random incorporation. Selected polymerization parameters are varied to observe how each mechanism affects polymer microstructure. Increasing the ethylene concentration during semi‐batch polymerization reduces the LCB frequency of polymers made with the terminal branching and intramolecular mechanisms, but has no effect on those made with the C–H bond activation mechanism, which disagrees with most previous data published in the literature. The intramolecular mechanism predicts that LCB frequencies hardly depend on polymerization time or ethylene conversion, which also disagrees with the published experimental data for these systems. For continuous polymerization reactors, experimental data relating polydispersity to LCB frequency can be well described with the terminal branching mechanism, but both C–H bond activation and intramolecular models fail to describe this experimental relationship. Therefore, detailed simulations confirm that the terminal branching mechanism is indeed the most likely mechanism for LCB formation when ethylene is polymerized with single‐site coordination catalysts such as metallocenes in solution polymerization reactors.  相似文献
