Novel ultracompact wavelength division demultiplexer based on photonic band gap

We propose ultra-compact wavelength division demultiplexer based on photonic band gap in two dimensional photonic crystals. The structure consists of two different types of lattice, which can separate two communication wavelengths, 1310 and 1490 nm. In addition, it also can be used to separate the wavelengths of 1310 and 1550 nm if we change the structural parameters. The total size of the present structure is only 12.5 μm × 12.5 μm. The transmission efficiency is above 97%, and the good performance is verified with plane wave expansion and finite-difference time-domain simulation.     

Synthesis and nonlinear optical properties of polyacetylenes containing oxadiazole and thiophene pendant groups with high thermal stability

A series of random copolymers poly(3‐ethynylthiophene)‐copoly(2‐(4‐decyloxyphenyl)‐5‐(4‐ethynylphenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole) with different oxadiazole content ( P2 – P4 ) and homopolymer poly(3‐ethynylthiophene) ( P1 ) as well as poly(2‐(4‐decyloxyphenyl)‐5‐(4‐ethynylphenyl)‐1,3,4‐oxadiazole) ( P5 ) were prepared. The copolymers ( P2 – P4 ) are completely soluble in common organic solvents. The structures and properties of all polymers were characterized and evaluated by FTIR, ¹H NMR, ¹³C NMR, TGA, UV, PL, GPC, and nonlinear optical (NLO) analyses. The incorporation of diaryl‐oxadiazole into polyacetylene‐containing thiophene significantly endows copolymers with higher thermal stability, which may origin from the synergetic effect of the “jacket effect” of diaryl‐oxadiazole units and the effect of retarding or eliminating a few 6π‐electrocycliaztion proceeds of oxadiazole‐containing polyacetylene due to the hindrance of thiophene units. When the copolymer ( P3 ) posses more regular alternating thiophene pendants and oxadiazole pendants arrangement along the polymer backbone, it shows good thermal stability (T_d up to 388 °C) and larger third‐order nonlinear optical susceptibility (χ(3) up to 11.0 × 10^?11 esu). © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. On the convexity coefficient of Musielak–Orlicz function spaces equipped with the Orlicz norm

In Hudzik and Landes, the convexity coefficient of Musielak–Orlicz function spaces over a non-atomic measure space equipped with the Luxemburg norm is computed whenever the Musielak–Orlicz functions are strictly convex see [6]. In this paper, we extend this result to the case of Musielak–Orlicz spaces equipped with the Orlicz norm. Also, a characterization of uniformly convex Musielak–Orlicz function spaces as well as k-uniformly convex Musielak–Orlicz spaces equipped with the Orlicz norm is given.     

微波消解–ICP–OES法测定难分解不锈钢和中低合金钢中7种元素

以微波消解–ICP–OES法测定难分解不锈钢和中低合金钢中Cr,Ni,Mn,V,Ti,Cu,Mo的含量。样品经6 m L稀王水和0.5 mL HF微波消解处理后,用带有耐HF进样系统的ICP–OES仪测定试样中多种元素。在优化仪器分析参数和消除基体及共存元素的干扰后,各待测元素的检出限为0.000 9%~0.009 9%,校准工作曲线的线性相关系数均大于0.999,相对标准偏差为0.27%~1.50%(n=6)。该方法适用于难分解不锈钢和中低合金钢中7种元素含量的日常检测。     

Preharvest UVB Application Increases Glucosinolate Contents and Enhances Postharvest Quality of Broccoli Microgreens

Broccoli microgreens have shown potential health benefits due to their high glucosinolate (GL) levels. Previously, we observed that postharvest UVB treatment did not have much effect on increasing GLs in broccoli microgreens. In this study, we investigated the influence of preharvest UVB irradiation on GL levels in broccoli microgreens. UHPLC-ESI/ITMS analysis showed that preharvest UVB treatments with UVB 0.09 and 0.27 Wh/m² significantly increased the glucoraphanin (GLR), glucoerucin (GLE), and total aliphatic GL levels by 13.7 and 16.9%, respectively, in broccoli microgreens when measured on harvest day. The nutritional qualities of UVB-treated microgreens were stable during 21-day storage, with only small changes in their GL levels. Broccoli microgreens treated before harvest with UVB 0.27 Wh/m² and 10 mM CaCl₂ spray maintained their overall quality, and had the lowest tissue electrolyte leakage and off-odor values during the storage. Furthermore, preharvest UVB 0.27 Wh/m² treatment significantly increased GL biosynthesis genes when evaluated before harvest, and reduced the expression level of myrosinase, a gene responsible for GL breakdown during postharvest storage. Overall, preharvest UVB treatment, together with calcium chloride spray, can increase and maintain health-beneficial compound levels such as GLs and prolong the postharvest quality of broccoli microgreens.     

Self-imaging effect in photonic crystal multimode waveguides exhibiting no band gaps

The properties of the propagating field in multimode photonic crystal waveguides (PCWs) exhibiting no photonic band gaps (PBGs) are investigated. The transmission spectrum shows that the input field can be guided with high efficiency, and resemble index-guided modes owing to the combination of total internal reflection (TIR) and distributed Bragg reflection (DBR). Self-imaging effect happens and the filling fraction determines the beating lengths. The rows of air holes decide DBR coming from the mirrors on both sides of the guiding region, which governs the transmission spectrum. It provides a new way to realize the components for both polarizations by combining PBG and TIR effects in PCWs.

本文简要介绍了旋转、弯曲、扩散流道中,液—固两相流数值计算结果,进而从理论上分析了泵叶轮压力面遭受磨损和输送两相流时扬程降低的原因。     

RP-LC with Fluorescence Detection of Amino Acids in Rat Brain Synaptosomes

For the first time, a simple and validated reversed-phase liquid chromatography (RP-LC) with fluorescence detection has been developed for the simultaneous analysis of glutamate (Glu), γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA), glycine (Gly) and taurine (Tau) in Wistar and tremor rats brain synaptosomes. The samples were separated on a C18 analytical column with gradient elution of methanol and 0.1 mol L^?1 potassium acetate at a flow rate of 1 mL min^?1. Total run time was approximately 25 min. All calibration curves exhibited good linearity (r ² > 0.999) within test ranges. The reproducibility was estimated by intra-and inter-day assays and RSD values were less than 2.48%. The recoveries were between 96.32 and 105.21%. The method was successfully applied to the quantification of amino acids in Wistar and tremor rats brain synaptosomes. Through this developed protocol, the levels of Glu in hippocampal and prefrontal cortical synaptosomes of tremor rats were both significantly elevated than those of adult Wistar rats whereas significantly decreased concentrations of GABA and Gly were observed in the hippocampal region of tremor rats without evident difference in the prefrontal cortex between experimental and control groups. In addition, our studies also showed a marked elevation of Tau in tremor rats hippocampal synaptosomes although there was no pronounced difference in the prefrontal cortical region of Wistar and tremor rats.     

The complexation of ferrocene derivatives by a water-soluble calix[6]arene

The complexation of several ferrocene derivatives by the water-soluble hostp-sulfonato-calix[6]arene was investigated using electrochemical and¹H-NMR spectroscopic techniques. The electrochemical results indicate that both oxidation states of the guests are bound to the calixarene host, although the oxidized (ferrocenium) forms are complexed more strongly than the reduced (ferrocene) species.¹H-NMR spectroscopic data indicate that the complexation phenomena involves the inclusion of the guest's ferrocene moiety into the flexible calixarene cavity.This paper is dedicated to the commemorative issue on the 50th anniversary of calixarenes.
