The effect of representing dielectric properties in terms of the complex polarizability c = – i is examined. Loss curves ( and tan ) are shifted towards higher frequencies, revealing the existence of new relaxations and allowing the clarifications of ones already known. We have calculated the shift ratios (at maximum or tan )/ (at maximum or tan ) from the more conventional empirical equations representing the dielectric behavior. Some examples are given.  相似文献

The permeability of styrene-butadiene block copolymer foils with different composition prepared by casting and pressing has been investigated for the gases Ar, CO2, and CH4 at pressure difference of 400 mbar and at the temperature range 298 T [K] 333.The permeation process can be described by the solution diffusion mechanism. The diffusion coefficients decrease in the sequence of the gases Ar, CO2, and CH4 and the solubility coefficients increase in the sequence Ar, CH4, CO2.The dependence of the permeability on the composition of the block copolymer can be interpreted by the help of percolation theory and the effective medium theory. It follows the critical volume fraction of the percolation of the transport phase PB c (= 0,23) and the coordination numberz (= 4) giving an information concerning the multiphase structure of the block copolymer.Presented in part at the 33rd Annual Meeting of the Colloid-Gesellschaft, Graz, Austria, September 14–16, 1987.  相似文献

The collective scattering function Scoll( ), which describes light (neutron-, x-ray) scattering under wavevector , is obtained from Monte Carlo simulations for a symmetrical polymer mixture. The polymers are modelled by self-avoiding walks ofN A=NB=N steps on a simple cubic lattice, where a fraction V of sites is left vacant, and an attractive energy occurs if two neighboring sites are taken by the same kind of monomer. Spinodal curves are estimated from linear extrapolation of S coll –1 (0) vs./k B T, whereT is the temperature. Also the single chain structure factor is obtained and the de Gennes random phase approximation (RPA) can thus be tested. Unexpectedly, strong deviations are found if one species is very dilute. The estimation of an effective Flory-Huggins-parameter from scattering data is also discussed.Contributed paper delivered at the Tagung der Deutschen Physikalischen Gesellschaft, Fachausschuß Polymerphysik, Hamburg, March 14–16, 1987.  相似文献

Intrinsic viscosity measurements were carried out on poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) and poly(vinyl alcohol) in various solvents and solvent mixtures. The values of, [] andk, the latter two being the fundamental terms in the equationC/ sp =1/kC, were utilized for the determination of the unperturbed dimensions in solution. The values of (¯r o 2 /M w )1/2 were calculated.  相似文献

The structure-property relationships derived here permit the prediction of both the zero-shear viscosity 0, as well as the shear rate dependent viscosity . Using this molecular modeling it is now possible to predict over the whole concentration range, independently of the molecular weight, polymer concentration and imposed shear rate. However, the widely accepted concept: dilute — concentrated, is insufficient. Moreover it is necessary to take five distinct states of solution into account if the viscous behavior of polymeric liquids is to be described satisfactorily. For non-homogeneous, semi-dilute (moderately concentrated) solutions the slope in the linear region of the flow curve (= must be standardized against the overlap parameterc · []. As with the 0-M-c-relationship, a-M -c- relationship can now be formulated for the complete range of concentration and molecular weight. Furthermore, it is possible to predict the onset of shear induced degradation of polymeric liquids subjected to a laminar velocity field on the basis of molecular modeling. These theoretically obtained results lead to the previously made ad hoc conclusion (Kulicke, Porter [32]) that, experimentally, it is not possible to detect the second Newtonian region.Roman and Italian symbols a exponent of the Mark-Houwink relationship - b exponent of the third term of the 0-M -c relationship - c concentration /g · cm–3 - E number of entanglements per molecule - F(r) connector tension - f function - G i A shear modulus; A indicates that it /Pa has been evaluated by a transient shear flow experiment; i is the shear rate to whichG A refers to - G storage modulus /Pa - G p plateau modulus /Pa - H() relaxation spectrum /Pa - h shift factor (0/r) - K H Huggins constant - K b third constant of the 0-M -c relationship - K constant of the Mark-Houwink relationship - M molecular weight /g · mol–1 - M e molecular weight between two /g · mol–1 entanglement couplings - N number of segments per molecule - n slope in the power-law region of the flow curve - p p-th mode of the relaxation time spectrum - R gas constant /8.314 J·K–1·mol–1 - r direction vector - T temperature /K Greek symbols ß reduced shear rate - shear rate /s–1 - shear viscosity /Pa·s - s solvent viscosity /Pa·s - sp specific viscosity - 0 zero-shear viscosity /Pa·s - apparent viscosity at shear rate - reduced viscosity - viscosity of polymeric liquid in /Pa·s the second Newtonian region - [] intrinsic viscosity/cm3·g–1 - screening length/m - /g·cm –3 density - relaxation time/s - 0 experimentally derived relaxation time/s - angular frequency of oscillation Indices conc concentrated - corr slope corrected - cr critical - deg degradation - e entanglement - exp experimental - mod moderately concentrated/semi-dilute - n number average - p polymer - R Rouse - rep reptation - s solvent - sp specific - theo theoretical - weight average - relaxation time - o experimental or steady state - * critical - ** transition moderately conc. — conc. - + transition dilute — moderately cone. The electrostatic interaction pressure of charged surface layers is considered qualitatively and quantitatively. In the case of mutual penetration of the surface layers in addition to Maxwell stress and osmotic resp. hydrostatic pressure an isotropic stress on the fixed charges carrying molecules of the surface layers has to be taken into account. The derivation of the pressure-distance equations is given starting from both thermodynamic/electrostatic and hydrostatic/electrostatic principles. A possible biological significance of the additional stress is discussed emphasizing its role in modifying the structure of surface layer molecules.List of symbols e 0 elementary charge - k Boltzmann constant - n i concentration of theith ionic species in the bulk solution - P hydrostatic pressure - P hydrostatic pressure in the bulk volume (× ) - P h integration constant, independent on ×:P h =P(h) - T absolute temperature - Z i electrovalence of theith ionic species - thickness of the surface layer - , 0 relative and absolute permittivities - II(×) osmotic pressure at position × - II osmotic pressure in the bulk solution (× ) - osmotic pressure in the symmetry plane of interacting identical surface layers (electric field strength equals zero) - integration constant, independent on ×: - e h electrostatic component of the disjoining pressure e h = e (h) - (×) mobile charge density profile (cations and anions of the electrolyte) - (×) fixed charge density profile - t(x) total charge density profile ( t = +) - 1(x) fixed charge density profile of one of the two surface layers ( 1(×) 0 for 0×) - (×) electric potential profile  相似文献

The technique of small angle neutron scattering (SANS) has been used to study the conformation of polystyrene chains in dilute solution under a constant shear gradient. The experiments reveal a distinct anisotropy of the molecular dimensions with regard to the directions parallel and perpendicular to the flow direction on the 2D-multidetector. The deformation ratio of the single polymer chain (R 2/R iso 2 )–1 as a function of the reduced shear gradient=([] · · M w G)/RT shows a transition from the ideal 2-behaviour for dynamic infinitely flexible coils found at small gradients, to a behaviour with smaller increase at larger. These results are qualitatively consistent with the theory of Cerf for a polymer with finite internal viscosity in a shear gradient. At low(<1), a better agreement with the model of a free-draining coil (Rouse behaviour) than with the Zimm model is observed.  相似文献

The kinetics of oxidation of glycine and valine by chloramine-T in hydrochloric acid medium has been studied. The rate of disappearance of chloramine-T shows a first order dependence on both chloramine-T and the amino acid, and an inverse first order with respect to [H+]. The solvent isotope effect was studied using heavy water. The kinetic parameters,E a ,Arrhenius factorA, H and S and G have been calculated. A rate law in agreement with experimental results has been derived. A mechanism is proposed.

Differential-scanning-calorimetry, freeze-fracture electron microscopy, and31P-NMR spectroscopy were used to study the lyotropic and thermotropic properties of the system dihexadecylphosphatidylcholine/dihexadecylphosphatidic acid/water/ NaOH in dispersion with excess water at pH=14. The phase diagram showed that both phospholipids are demixed nearly completely in the gel phase. The coexistence of theP and theB -phase in the mixtures was pointed out in the freeze-fracture electron micrographs by the ripple structure (P -phase) and by the lamellar structure (B -phase).  相似文献

The title reaction is first order each in vanadium(V) and Os(VIII) and fractional order with respect to DMSO. The rate is found to decrease with increasing concentrations of sulfuric, perchloric and acetic acid, whereas the rate increases with the increasing concentrations of sodium bisulfate and sodium perchlorate. Thermodynamic parameters like Ea, H, S and G were evaluated. A suitable mechanism consistent with the observed kinetics is proposed.  相似文献

The effect of illumination on transport of sulfonated bisazo direct dyes, CI Direct Yellow 12, and CI Direct Yellow 4, into a cellulose membrane has been studied at various temperatures. Transport of CI Direct Yellow 12, which exhibits photoinduced reversible trans-cis isomerism in aqueous solution into a cellulose membrane, was influenced by illumination. It is likely that the transport was influenced by transisomerization of the photoisomeric dye and the diffusivity was controlled by surface diffusion rather than by pore diffusion under both light and dark conditions.Notations C Concentration of dye in the pores (mol/dm3) - C E Concentration of electrolyte in the bulk solution (mol/dm3) - C o Concentration of dye in the bulk solution (mol/dm3) - D p Pore diffusivity (m2/s) - D s Surface diffusivity (m2/s) - [M] Mean concentration of dye in membrane (mol/dm3) - [M] L Local concentration of dye in membrane (=q+ p C) (mol/dm3) - [M] Mean concentration of dye in membrane (mol/kg) - [M] L Local concentration of dye in membrane (=q/V+ p C) (mol/dm3) - F Fractional attainment of equilibrium - l Thickness of membrane (m) - q Concentration of dye adsorbed on pore wall (mol/dm3) - q o Adsorbed concentration of dye in equilibrium withC o (mol/dm3) - q Concentration of dye adsorbed on pore wall (mol/kg) - q o Adsorbed concentration of dye in equilibrium withC o (mol/kg) - t Time (s) - V Volume of membrane swollen with water per unit dry cellulose (dm3/kg) - x C/C o - y q/q o - z Distance that the dye diffused in the membrane (m) - q o / o C o - D s /D p - Coefficient of the Freundlich isotherm - p Pore void fraction - z/l - p D p t/l 2 - s D s t/l 2  相似文献

Isobaric expansibilities P and isothermal compressibilities T have been determined at 25 and 45°C for binary mixtures of ethylbenzene + n-tetradecane and + n-hexadecane and the corresponding excess functions (V E /T)P and (V E /P)T have also been obtained. With these data and supplementary literature values, the following second order mixing properties are also reported at 25°C: S E , (V E /P)T, CV and (VT). All mixing quantities have been compared with the results obtained at 25°C by using the Prigogine-Flory-Patterson theory of liquid mixtures. The predicted values suggest that the ability of ethylbenzene as a breaker of the pure n-Cn orientations is similar to what we found for toluene and higher than for p-xylene.  相似文献

Surface free energy of various carbon fibers was determined by tensiometric method in three different procedures. The dispersive s d and the nondispersive s p components were separately determined by contact angle measurements in two-phase system, formamide-n-alkanes. The s p increased by oxidation and decreased by hydrogen reduction, while the s d remained almost constant. The s p value determined from contact angle of water/ethyleneglycol solution tended to become higher. The critical surface free energy was in harmony with the total free energy determined from formamide-n-alkanes system as long as liquids were properly selected. The formation of oxygen-containing functional groups was evidenced by ESCA, and the surface [O]/[C] ratio was related linearly to the surface polarity defined by s p [ s d + s p ] Oxidation in liquid phase resulted in the formation of both hydroxyls and carboxyls, while only hydroxyls were formed in gas phase. The interfacial shear strength of the fiber-epoxy resin could be closely correlated with thermodynamical work of adhesion calculated on the basis of surface free energy and its component.  相似文献

Bidimensional miscibility between alpha and beta conformations of polypeptides was investigated at the water-air interface in the 15°–30°C temperature range. The polypeptides were poly--methyl-L-glutamate (PGMG), poly--benzyl-L-glutamate (PGBG) and poly--benzyl-L-aspartate (PBBA). The polypeptide conformations, alpha or beta, were checked by IR spectroscopy using the MIR technique. The spreading isotherms for mixed monolayers alpha-PGMG/alpha-PGBG and beta-PGMG/beta-PBBA showed bidimensional miscibility both for alpha-alpha and beta-beta mixtures. For the alpha-alpha system, attractive interactions among the polypeptide alphahelices were found (Gmix<0) and the driving factor appeared to be the entropic one (packing). Compressibility moduli and surface potential measurements showed a fluidification effect of alpha-PGBG on mixed monolayers. In the case of beta-beta mixed monolayers, ideal behaviour was observed and no fluidification effect detected.Scanning electron micrographs made on collapsed monolayers showed hexagonal structures for alpha-alpha mixtures and no well-defined or characterized features for the beta-beta system.  相似文献

Temperature dependences of 1H NMR spin–spin relaxation were studied for the non-freezing water at the surface of carbon matrices modified with proteins (human serum albumin (HSA) and mouse immunoglobulin (MIG)) in the presence of water-soluble carbodiimide. The entropy, S , and enthalpy, H , values characterizing molecular mobility in non-freezing water were estimated. The compensation effect was observed for all modified samples, which is well approximated by the linear dependence of the type H = T 0S + H 0. The compensation temperature T 0 = 231 ± 33 corresponds to such a state of non-freezing water, when the effect of modifying additives on the isobaric potential of molecular mobility activation in the non-freezing water, G , is minimal. The G has approximately constant value equal to H 0 = 24.2 ± 0.5 kJ/mol. Modification of the base carbon matrix with MIG protein results in higher structurization of the non-freezing water, whereas HSA reduces this structurization. The observed effects are explained in terms of the hydration of modifying agents and also by the peculiarities of their location on the surface of carbon adsorbent.  相似文献

Two-dimensional magic-angle-spinning (2D-MAS) NMR has been used to measure the orientation parameter, P2, of the diphenylene propane unit in bisphenol-A polycarbonate oriented by stretching to various extension ratios,, atT=295K andT= 403 K.P 2 is proportional to the birefringencen, with a maximum birefringencen 0= 0.189. There is some evidence that the order parameterP 2 of the DPP units with respect to the chain axis deviates from unity.n 0 is therefore expected to be different from the birefringence,n 0 , of perfectly aligned chains of polycarbonate. The experimental results obtained forP 2() are compared to those predicted by the aggregate model.  相似文献

Viscosity measurements were made in the temperature range of 10 °–40 °C. The equation= o exp(B/(T-T o )) was used with the parameterT 0 as structure indicator, which is called the limiting temperature. For instance, hydrocarbons, as liquids with quasifree molecules, haveT 0=O; water as a highly structured liquid hasT 0= 140–150 K.The polymer investigated was ovalbumin in aqueous solution in a concentration comparable to that of blood. Acetylsalicylic acid produces a protein conformation which breaks the water structure in solution at a pH of within the in vivo region. The question of whether only the acidity determines the water structure breaking properties of the protein is investigated by acidifying albumin-water solutions with hydrochloric acid, lysine chloride and ascorbic acid. All these acids exhibit similar effects. A stronger influence is observed for ammonium chloride. Its interaction with ovalbumin produces a strong structure-breaking effect. The most powerful water structure breaker in albumin-water solutions is dextrane. In a concentration of 10 % it changes the polymer conformation so that the water structure is broken to such an extent that the solution behaves as an almost quasifree liquid withT 0=O.  相似文献

Data published by La Mantia et al. [1] on dielectric dispersion and loss in polyethylene/nylon 6 blends are analyzed in terms of dielectric mixture formulae. It is shown that an ohmic interfacial polarization process can not be responsible for the unexpected increase of and values observed in these blends at high temperatures. The observed phenomena are tentatively attributed to space charge processes at the electrodes or to other defects dipole mechanisms.  相似文献

Polymer microspheres composed of various compositions of styrene and 2-hydroxyethyl methacrylate (HEMA) were produced by batch emulsifier-free emulsion polymerization. The HEMA content at the surface, [HEMA] s , of the microspheres powdered by freeze-drying was determined by both quantitativeC 1s /O 1s analysis andC 1s peak shape analysis of the x-ray photoelectron spectroscopic spectra. When the HEMA content in the microsphere, [HEMA] p , was less than about 5 mole%, the [HEMA] s values determined by the two different methods showed good agreement. At [HEMA]p above 5 mole %, [HEMA]s values determined by the first method were about 15 mole % greater than those determined by the second. They both showed a similar tendency with the [HEMA] s being higher than the [HEMA] p , e.g., when [HEMA] p was 1 mole %, [HEMA] s was 11 mole %. The intensity of the satellite peak due to the * transition of the benzene ring of the styrene component decreased with an increase in [HEMA] p , to zero at 5 mole % of [HEMA] p . These results indicate that the HEMA component is localized at the surface.Part CVIII of the series Studies on Suspension and Emulsion.  相似文献

The power-time curves of bacterial growth at different temperatures were determined by using the 2277 Thermal Activity Monitor (Sweden). From these curves, the growth rate constant () and activation energy (E a) were calculated. According to the transition state theory of reaction dynamics, the activation entropy (S), activation Gibbs free energy (G) and equilibrium constant (K ) of the activation state could be calculated. These results permitted thermodynamic analysis of the bacterial growth metabolism.Supported by the Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province.  相似文献
