Lavandula stricta belongs to the Lamiaceae family and is considered as an endemic medicinal plant in southern Iran. Essential oil composition, total phenolic content and antioxidant activity from two different populations of L. stricta were studied for the first time. A GC and GC/MS analysis of essential oil isolated from the aerial part of L. stricta identified 31 constituents; the major constituents were α-pinene (58.34–63.52%), linalool (8.85–9.36%), 3-methyl butyl 2-methyl butanoate (7.45–7.70%), sabinene (2.84–3.56%), limonene (2.87–3.21%) and myrcene (2.25%). The total phenolic content of methanolic extracts was determined with the Folin–Ciocalteu reagent and the antioxidant activity of methanolic extract and essential oil were determined with the 2, 2-diphenyl-1-picryl hydrazyl free radical scavenging assay, respectively. Total phenols varied from 61.05 to 64.45 mg GAE/g dry weight, and IC50 values in the radical scavenging assay ranged from 334.11 to 395.23 μg/mL in methanolic extracts and 420–475 μg/mL in essential oil.  相似文献

Essential oils from the leaf of Cinnamomum perrottetii Meissn. collected from three distinct populations in the southern Western Ghats, India were analysed by GC–FID and GC–MS. A total of 56 volatile constituents representing 92.2–96.3% of the oils were identified. Variations in the chemical constituents of the oils were found. Only three major components namely, α-pinene (5.1–6.6%), tau-cadinol (8.7–20.5%) and α-cadinol (7.3–13%) out of 10 were found in all three samples. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the chemical compositions of leaf essential oil of C. perrottetii.  相似文献

The essential oil constituents of the leaves of Jasminum subtriplinerve (Oleaceae) and Vitex quinata (Verbanaceae) cultivated in Vietnam were analysed by gas chromatography – flame ionisation detector (GC–FID) and gas chromatography – mass spectrometry (GC–MS) techniques. The main constituents identified in J. subtriplinerve were mainly oxygenated monoterpenes represented by linalool (44.2%), α-terpineol (15.5%), geraniol (19.4%) and cis-linalool oxide (8.8%). The quantitative significant components of V. quinata were terpene hydrocarbons comprising of β-pinene (30.1%), β-caryophyllene (26.9%) and β-elemene (7.4%). The chemical compositions of the essential oils are being reported for the first time.  相似文献

The hydrodistilled oils from the aerial parts of Ferula latisecta and Mozaffariania insignis, which is endemic to Iran, were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. (Z)-Ocimenone (32.4%), (E)-ocimenone (20.3%), and cis-pinocarvone (11.4%) were the main components among the 22 constituents characterized in the oil of F. latisecta, representing 87.7% of the total components detected. Twenty-five compounds were identified in the oil of M. insignis, representing 99.0% of the total oil, with octyl acetate (41.1%), β-pinene (30.3%), and α-pinene (23.9%) as the main constituents. The essential oil obtained from Wedelia urticifolia growing in Hunan Province, China, was analyzed for the first time by capillary GC and GC-MS. A total of 67 constituents, representing 98.68% in essential oil were identified. The major constituents of the oil were: α-pinene (8.85%), limonene (6.38%), carvacrol (6.15%), caryophyllene (6.08%), spathulenol (5.49%), sabinene (5.36%), camphor (4.34%). Antimicrobial potential of oil against bacterial strains (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli and Bacillus subtilis, and Staphylococcus aureus), yeast strains (Hansenula anomala and Saccharomy cescerevisiae) and molds (Aspergillus niger, Chaetomium globosum, Mucor racemosus, and Monascus anka) was determined by disc diffusion method and broth micro dilution method, respectively. The oil exhibited promising antimicrobial effect as a diameter of zones of inhibition (16.8–24.9 mm). Minimum inhibitory concentration values of oil were ranged 62.5–1000 μg/mL.  相似文献

Aerial parts of Sideritis cilicica Boiss. & Bal. and Sideritis bilgerana P.H. Davis (Lamiaceae) were hydrodistilled to obtain essential oils that were then analyzed by GC and GC/MS. β-Pinene (39%), α-pinene (28%), and β-phellandrene (20%) were the main components in the oil of S. cilicica, while β-pinene (48%), and α-pinene (32%) were the major constituents in the oil of S. bilgerana. The antimicrobial activities of the oils were evaluated by using the microdilution broth method. Ferulago angulata (Schlecht) Boiss (Apiaceae) is a perennial herb distributed in the central parts of Iran. In this work, the essential oil of Ferulago angulat a aerial parts collected from the central parts of Iran was obtained by using hydrodistillation analysed by GC and GC–MS. Air-dried and powdered plant roots were extracted with n-hexane, dichloromethane and methanol, respectively, using a Soxhlet apparatus. The n-hexane extract was subjected to preparative thin-layer chromatography using chloroform–acetone (95:5) as solvent system to yield two linear furanocoumarins, prantschimgin and oxypeucedanin. The structure of theisolated compounds was elucidated by using spectroscopic data such as 1H NMR, 13C NMR, UV and IR. The results of GC–MS analyses showed that γ-terpinolene (11.97%), α-pinene (10.00%), sabinene (6.89%), linalool (5.56%) and cis-ocimene (4.41%) were the main components among 51 constituents characterised in the oil. Steam distilled oil from the shoots, separated leaves, and stem, as well as from the flower of laurel (Laurus nobilis), grown in Montenegro, were analyzed by GC and GC/MS. The yield of essential oil was as follow: 1.4% in young shoots, 1.5% in the separated leaves, and 0.7% in separated stems. The main constituents of all investigated oils were 1,8-cineole, methyleugenol, and α-terpinyl acetate. Besides, α-pinene, β-pinene, sabinene, and linalool were also present. It was interesting and important for commercial samples of laurel essential oil that there was no significant difference among the essential oil obtained from young shoots and those obtained from leaves and stem. The main constituents of the flower oil were 1,8-cineole (15.7%), β-caryophyllene (9.5%), γ-muurolene (7.1%), α-terpinyl acetate (6.5%), and methyleugenol (3.9%). This study reports the chemical composition, antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties of Anethum graveolens essential oil and its main compounds. The essential oil was obtained from the aerial parts of the plant by hydrodistillation and analysed by using GC/MS. α-Phellandrene (19.12%), limonene (26.34%), dill ether (15.23%), sabinene (11.34%), α-pinene (2%), n-tetracosane (1.54%), neophytadiene (1.43%), n-docosane (1.04), n-tricosane (1%), n-nonadecane (1%), n-eicosane (0.78%), n-heneicosane (0.67%), β-myrcene (0.23%) and α-tujene (0.21%) were found to be the major constituents of the oil. A. graveolens oil exhibit a higher activity in each antioxidant system with a special attention for β-carotene bleaching test (IC50: 15.3 μg/mL) and reducing power (EC50: 11.24 μg/mL). The TLC-bioautography screening and fractionation resulted in the separation of the main antioxidant compounds, which were identified as limonene (45%) and sabinene (32%). The essential oil and its main compounds exhibited a potent NO-scavenging effect and inhibited the expression of inducible NO synthase.  相似文献

Abstract

The present study investigated the chemical compositions and antimicrobial activities of essential oil from Pterocarya stenoptera. The essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from the dried leaves of P. stenoptera was analysed by GC–MS and 39 constituents accounting for the total 90.44% of the oil were identified. The main constituents were δ-cadinene (24.83%), caryophyllene oxide (9.10%), α-cadinol (7.48%) and β-elemene (6.24%). The antimicrobial activity of the oil was evaluated by disc diffusion and broth microdilution methods. The essential oil was found to show broad-spectrum antimicrobial activities against all the tested microorganisms. Bacillus subtilis was the most sensitive strain with the minimum inhibitory concentration of 0.23?mg/mL. The results suggested that the essential oil was a potential source of natural antimicrobials in food preservation and pharmaceutical industry.  相似文献

The chemical composition of the essential oil obtained from aerial parts of Nepeta graciliflora was analysed, for the first time, by GC–FID and GC–MS. A total of 27 compounds were identified, constituting over 91.44% of oil composition. The oil was strongly characterised by sesquiterpenes (86.72%), with β-sesquiphellandrene (28.75%), caryophyllene oxide (12.15%), α-bisabolol (8.97%), α-bergamotene (8.51%), β-bisabolene (6.33%) and β-Caryophyllene (5.34%) as the main constituents. The in vitro activity of the essential oil was determined against four micro-organisms in comparison with chloramphenicol by the agar well diffusion and broth dilution method. The composition of the essential oil obtained by hydrodistillation from the leaves of Stachys schtschegleevii Sosn. before the flowering stage was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Forty-five compounds representing 98.7% of the total oil were identified, of which α-pinene (36.4%), germacrene-D (18.6%), limonene (8.2%), and piperitone (6.2%) were the major constituents. Furthermore, antibacterial activity of the entire oil and its two main monoterpenes was evaluated against six Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The essential oil of Premna latifolia Roxb. was obtained by hydrodistillation of fresh leaves of the plant having an oil yield of 0.05%, both non-polar and essential oil were analysed by GC and GC-MS. Hexane fraction of the leaves of P. latifolia was transesterified and analysed by GC and GC-MS, 40 non-polar components were identified comprising 89.3%. The most abundant fatty acid constituents were hexadecanoic acid (25.04%), 8,11,14-docosatrienoic acid (13.62%), octadecanoic acid (6.82%), 9,12-octadecadienoic acid (4.19%) and 29 components were investigated in the essential oil which comprises 78.1%. The most abundant oil constituents were 1-octen-3-ol (35.69%), terpendiol II (7.19%), δ-guaiene (7.49%) 2-undecanone (4.80%) and α-pinene (3.27%). Different extracts were also tested against polyphagous crop pest Spodoptera litura for antifeedant activity. Essential oil showed maximum growth reduction of 56.83% followed by chloroform extract of 43.93%.  相似文献

The essential oil of Nepeta involucrata (Bunge) Bornm. (Lamiaceae) obtained by hydrodistillation from the aerial parts during the flowering stage was analyzed by GC and GC-MS. Forty-eight compounds representing 97.2% of total oil were identified. The main compounds of the oil were 1,8-cineol (23.1%), germacrene-D (15.1%), and β-pinene (12.2%). The essential oil composition of aerial parts of Santolina etrusca Marchi & D’Amato from Italy was analyzed by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-nine compounds of oil were identified representing 97.1% of the oil. The most abundant compounds were viridiflorol (17.9%), terpinen-4-ol (14.4%), myrcene (11.8%), β-pinene (9.9%), and cis-muurola-4(14),5-diene (9.9%). To the best of our knowledge, this is the first report on the GC/MS determination of the essential oil composition of S. etrusca. The essential oil of aerial parts of Stachys acerosa, which belongs to the Lamiaceae family and grows in central Iran, was obtained by a hydrodistileation method and analyzed by GC and GC-MS apparatus. Fourteen compounds representing 98.8% of the oil were identified. Among them N-methylisatin (30%), α-pinene (25%), sabinene (12.3%), and 2-hydroxyacetophenone (11.2%) were the major constituents of the oil, which was obtained in 0.1% yield. Reinvestigation of essential oil constituents of Blumea malcolmii Hook. F. (Asteraceae) was carried out after 100 years using gas chromatography equipped with flame ionisation detector (GC-FID) and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC/MS). Eighteen constituents, representing 99.2% of the total oil, were identified. The major compound was identified by GC/MS and NMR (1H and 13C) as carvotanacetone (92.1%). The minor compounds of essential oil have also been identified for the first time in B. malcolmii. The oil was found to be rich in oxygenated monoterpene-type constituents (95.0%).  相似文献

A reliable analytical method was developed, which is based on Headspace Solid Phase Microextraction (HS-SPME) and Gas Chromatography–Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) for the detection of volatile components of the gum and the essential oil of Pistacia lentiscus var. chia, commonly known as mastic gum and mastic oil respectively. The conditions of the HS-SPME were optimized and aqueous-ethanolic extracts of mastic gum and solutions of mastic oil in ethanol-water were analyzed by GC-MS. Almost 26 volatile components in mastic gum and 34 in mastic oil were identified in the gum and the oil respectively. The major constituents of the mastic gum and the mastic oil were α-pinene (63% and 76%, respectively), β-myrcene (15% and 14%), β-pinene (4% and 4%), limonene (2.5% and 1.5%), and caryophyllene (5% and 1%). The quantitative determination of six of the aforementioned substances in multi-analyte standard solutions was achieved with good performance features. The repeatability (RSD%) was <4.2% and the limits of detection were 1.2 µg/L for α-pinene, 0.09 µg/L for β-pinene, 0.7 µg/L for β-myrcene, 0.02 µg/L for camphene, 0.02 µg/L for p-cymene, and 0.07 µg/L for α-terpineol. The HS-SPME/GC-MS procedure was successfully applied to samples of human urine samples after dietetic use of various mastic products such as mastic gum, mastic oil and Greek traditional highly viscous white mastic sweet. Traces of several constituents of mastic, such as α-pinene, β-myrcene, limonene, p-methyl anisole, terpinene, carveol, myrtenol, caryophyllene, α-caryophyllene, and so forth, were detected in the collected urine samples.  相似文献

The composition of the essential oil obtained from the resin of Canarium album (Lour.) Raeusch, Burseraceae, growing in Vietnam, was studied by GC and GC/MS. Twenty-nine compounds representing 95.2% of the oil were identified. Monoterpenoids made up 93.2% of the oil, with β-pinene (33.3%), α-terpinene (19.4%), γ-terpinene (14.1%), and terpinen-4-ol (11.9%) as the main components. Sesquiterpenoids made up 2.0% of the oil, and the content of each individual was below 0.5% of the oil. The component composition of essential oils produced by steam distillation from flower heads, leaves, and stems of Salvia anatolica (Lamiaceae), a recently described new species endemic from Turkey, was studied by GC/FID and GC/MS. A total of 127 volatile components representing 96% of the oil was identified in essential oil from flower heads and leaves. It was found that the principal oil components of flower heads and leaves were α-pinene (10.9%), β-pinene (6.7%), α-copaene (6.3%), heptacosane (6.2%), and hexadecanoic acid (5.0%). A total of 109 volatile compounds representing 87.9% of the oil was characterized in essential oil isolated from stems.
