A series of directly mesomeso‐linked Pd–porphyrin oligomers (PdDTP‐M, PdDTP‐D, and PdDTP‐T) have been prepared. The absorption region and the light‐harvesting ability of the Pd–porphyrin oligomers are broadened and enhanced by increasing the number of Pd–porphyrin units. Triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA‐UC) systems were constructed by utilizing the Pd–porphyrin oligomers as the sensitizer and 9,10‐diphenylanthracene (DPA) as the acceptor in deaerated toluene and green‐to‐blue photon upconversion was observed upon excitation with a 532 nm laser. The triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion quantum efficiencies were found to be 6.2 %, 10.5 %, and 1.6 % for the [PdDTP‐M]/DPA, [PdDTP‐D]/DPA, and [PdDTP‐T]/DPA systems, respectively, under an excitation power density of 500 mW cm?2. The photophysical processes of the TTA‐UC systems have been investigated in detail. The higher triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion quantum efficiency observed in the [PdDTP‐D]/DPA system can be rationalized by the enhanced light‐harvesting ability of PdDTP‐D at 532 nm. Under the same experimental conditions, the [PdDTP‐D]/DPA system produces more 3DPA* than the other two TTA‐UC systems, benefiting the triplet–triplet annihilation process. This work provides a useful way to develop efficient TTA‐UC systems with broad spectral response by using Pd–porphyrin oligomers as sensitizers.  相似文献

Reversible emission color switching of triplet–triplet annihilation‐based photon upconversion (TTA‐UC) is achieved by employing an Os complex sensitizer with singlet‐to‐triplet (S‐T) absorption and an asymmetric luminescent cyclophane with switchable emission characteristics. The cyclophane contains the 9,10‐bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene unit as an emitter and can assemble into two different structures, a stable crystalline phase and a metastable supercooled nematic phase. The two structures exhibit green and yellow fluorescence, respectively, and can be accessed by distinct heating/cooling sequences. The hybridization of the cyclophane with the Os complex allows near‐infrared‐to‐visible TTA‐UC. The large anti‐Stokes shift is possible by the direct S‐T excitation, which dispenses with the use of a conventional sequence of singlet–singlet absorption and intersystem crossing. The TTA‐UC emission color is successfully switched between green and yellow by thermal stimulation.  相似文献

A heteroleptic bis(tributylphosphine) platinum(II)‐alkynyl complex ( Pt‐1 ) showing broadband visible‐light absorption was prepared. Two different visible‐light‐absorbing ligands, that is, ethynylated boron‐dipyrromethene (BODIPY) and a functionalized naphthalene diimide (NDI) were used in the molecule. Two reference complexes, Pt‐2 and Pt‐3 , which contain only the NDI or BODIPY ligand, respectively, were also prepared. The coordinated BODIPY ligand shows absorption at 503 nm and fluorescence at 516 nm, whereas the coordinated NDI ligand absorbs at 594 nm; the spectral overlap between the two ligands ensures intramolecular resonance energy transfer in Pt‐1 , with BODIPY as the singlet energy donor and NDI as the energy acceptor. The complex shows strong absorption in the region 450 nm–640 nm, with molar absorption coefficient up to 88 000 M ?1 cm?1. Long‐lived triplet excited states lifetimes were observed for Pt‐1 – Pt‐3 (36.9 μs, 28.3 μs, and 818.6 μs, respectively). Singlet and triplet energy transfer processes were studied by the fluorescence/phosphorescence excitation spectra, steady‐state and time‐resolved UV/Vis absorption and luminescence spectra, as well as nanosecond time‐resolved transient difference absorption spectra. A triplet‐state equilibrium was observed for Pt‐1 . The complexes were used as triplet photosensitizers for triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion, with upconversion quantum yields up to 18.4 % being observed for Pt‐1 .  相似文献

For real‐world applications of photon upconversion based on the triplet–triplet annihilation (TTA‐UC), it is imperative to develop solid‐state TTA‐UC systems that work effectively under low excitation power comparable to solar irradiance. As an approach in this direction, aromatic crystals showing high triplet diffusivity are expected to serve as a useful platform. However, donor molecules inevitably tend to segregate from the host acceptor crystals, and this inhomogeneity results in the disappointing performance of crystalline state TTA‐UC. In this work, a series of cast‐film‐forming acceptors was developed, which provide both regular acceptor alignment and soft domains of alkyl chains that accommodate donor molecules without segregation. A typical triplet sensitizer, PtII octaethylporphyrin (PtOEP), was dispersed in these acceptor crystals without aggregation. As a result, efficient triplet energy transfer from the donor to the acceptor and diffusion of triplet excitons among regularly aligned anthracene chromophores occurred. It resulted in TTA‐UC emission at low excitation intensities, comparable to solar irradiance.  相似文献

Photosensitization mechanisms in photopolymer coating film containing an aminochalcone‐type dye sensitizer and a radical generating reagent, sensitizer dyes, (E)‐3‐(9‐julolidinyl)‐1‐phenyl‐2‐propen‐1‐one (A), (E)‐2‐(9‐julolidinyl)‐methylene‐1‐indanone (B), 9‐benzoyl‐2,3,6,7‐tetrahydro‐1H,5H‐benzo[i,j]‐furano‐[3,2‐g]quinolizine (C), 4‐(dimethylamino) chalcone (D) and a radical‐generating reagent, 2,4,6‐tris (trichloromethyl)‐1,3,5‐triazine (TCT), were investigated by laser flash photolysis using a total reflection cell. Weak fluorescence and strong broad triplet absorption were detected. The fluorescence was statically quenched by TCT at quenching distances (Rf) of 15, 14, 20 and 14 Å for A, B, C and D as well as the triplet initial absorption, at quenching distances (Rt) of 16, 16, 16 and 14 for A, B, C and D, similar to the fluorescence quenching distances. The triplet decay time of the dyes was inefficiently quenched by TCT with the rate constants (k q) of 1.9, 3.1, 0.7 and 1.0×105 mol−1/dm3/s for A, B, C and D. The sensitivity of photopolymers containing a sensitizer dye and a TCT was obtained at an excitation of 488 nm corresponding to the emission peaks of argon ion laser of 1.1, 0.2, 0.54 and 9.1 mJ cm2 for A, B, C and D. The results indicated that the static sensitization process from the fluorescent singlet excited state of the dyes to the ground state of TCT was predominant, and the high sensitivity for A and B was caused by the high absorbance at 488 nm and that for C by the high fluorescent quenching distance. In the present study, the red-light absorbing platinum(II) tetraphenyltetrabenzoporphyrin (PtTPBP) was used as a triplet sensitizer in conjunction with two distinct iodophenyl-bearing BODIPY derivatives independently serving as triplet acceptors/annihilators poised for photon upconversion based on triplet-triplet annihilation. In deaerated benzene solutions, extremely stable and high quantum efficiency green (Phi(UC) = 0.0313 +/- 0.0005) and yellow (Phi(UC) = 0.0753 +/- 0.0036) upconverted emissions were observed from selective red excitation of the PtTPBP sensitizer at 635 +/- 5 nm. The current systems represent the first examples of photon upconversion where aromatic hydrocarbons do not serve the role of triplet acceptor/annihilator. Notably, the nature of the current chromophore compositions permitted highly reproducible upconversion quantum efficiency determinations while permitting the evaluation of the triplet-triplet annihilation quantum yields in both instances.  相似文献

Triplet-triplet annihilation (TTA) based upconversions are attractive as a result of their readily tunable excitation/emission wavelength, low excitation power density, and high upconversion quantum yield. For TTA upconversion, triplet sensitizers and acceptors are combined to harvest the irradiation energy and to acquire emission at higher energy through triplet-triplet energy transfer (TTET) and TTA processes. Currently the triplet sensitizers are limited to the phosphorescent transition metal complexes, for which the tuning of UV-vis absorption and T(1) excited state energy level is difficult. Herein for the first time we proposed a library of organic triplet sensitizers based on a single chromophore of boron-dipyrromethene (BODIPY). The organic sensitizers show intense UV-vis absorptions at 510-629 nm (ε up to 180,000 M(-1) cm(-1)). Long-lived triplet excited state (τ(T) up to 66.3 μs) is populated upon excitation of the sensitizers, proved by nanosecond time-resolved transient difference absorption spectra and DFT calculations. With perylene or 1-chloro-9,10-bis(phenylethynyl)anthracene (1CBPEA) as the triplet acceptors, significant upconversion (Φ(UC) up to 6.1%) was observed for solution samples and polymer films, and the anti-Stokes shift was up to 0.56 eV. Our results pave the way for the design of organic triplet sensitizers and their applications in photovoltaics and upconversions, etc.  相似文献

A new photoreaction mechanism of “Three‐state molecular switch” fluorescence sensor based on ON1‐OFF‐ON2 sequence was achieved by anthracene‐diurea compound, which was designed using two phenylurea groups and one anthracene, 9,10BtDSPUA. Photochemical properties of 9,10BtDSPUA and interaction between 9,10BtDSPUA and anion were investigated in detail by absorption, 1H NMR, fluorescence, and fluorescence decay measurements. While the fluorescence of 9,10BtDSPUA in DMSO (ON1) was quenched in the presence of low concentration of acetate anion (OFF), fluorescence enhancement occurred by the addition of high concentration of acetate anion (ON2). This compound forms complex with acetate anion through hydrogen bonding interaction in the ground state resulted in tautomer formation by excited state intermolecular proton transfer (ESIPT) on irradiation. Whereas single coordination of acetate anion to anthracene‐diurea compound may cause fluorescence quenching, full coordination may cause fluorescence enhancement due to suppressing ESIPT. This suppressing ESIPT was occurred by electron‐donating resonance effect between two urea moieties. This study is the first example of ON1‐OFF‐ON2 fluorescence sensor for concentration detection of acetate anion.  相似文献

A new class of lanthanide‐doped upconversion nanoparticles are presented that are without Yb3+ or Nd3+ sensitizers in the host lattice. In erbium‐enriched core–shell NaErF4:Tm (0.5 mol %)@NaYF4 nanoparticles, a high degree of energy migration between Er3+ ions occurs to suppress the effect of concentration quenching upon surface coating. Unlike the conventional Yb3+‐Er3+ system, the Er3+ ion can serve as both the sensitizer and activator to enable an effective upconversion process. Importantly, an appropriate doping of Tm3+ has been demonstrated to further enhance upconversion luminescence through energy trapping. This endows the resultant nanoparticles with bright red (about 700‐fold enhancement) and near‐infrared luminescence that is achievable under multiple excitation wavelengths. This is a fundamental new pathway to mitigate the concentration quenching effect, thus offering a convenient method for red‐emitting upconversion nanoprobes for biological applications.  相似文献

We report the synthesis, thermal, one‐ and two‐photon properties of poly(2,6‐bis(p‐dihexylaminostyryl)anthracene‐9,10‐diyl‐altN‐octylcarbazole‐3,6‐/2,7‐diyl) ( P1/P2 ). The as‐synthesized polymers exhibit number‐average molecular weights of 1.7 × 104 for P1 and 2.1 × 104 g/mol for P2 . They emit strong one‐ and two‐photon excitation fluorescence with the peak around 502 nm, and the fluorescence quantum yields around 0.76 in chloroform. In film state, P1 and P2 show different red‐shift emission with the peaks at 512 nm and 523 nm, respectively. The DSC measurement reveals that as‐synthesized polymers are all amorphous aggregates with the glass transition temperatures of 131 °C for P1 and 152 °C for P2 . The solution two‐photon absorption (TPA) properties of P1 and P2 in chloroform are measured by the two‐photon‐induced fluorescence method using femtosecond laser pulses (120 fs). The TPA cross sections (δ) are measured over the range of 700–900 nm. The maximal δ of P1 and P2 all appear at ~800 nm and are 1010 GM and 940 GM per repeating unit, respectively. This suggests that no notable interactions among structure units that impair their fluorescence and TPA properties, and the polymers with large δ can be obtained by using the high TPA‐active units as building blocks. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Geometric isomerizations of olefins following photoinduced electron transfer (PET) are classified according to the relative energetic positions of the radical‐ion pairs and the reactant triplets. Each class exhibits characteristic CIDNP (chemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization) effects, for which typical examples are presented. Time‐resolved CIDNP experiments on the system triphenylamine/fumarodinitrile (= (2E)‐but‐2‐enedinitrile), where formation of the olefin triplet is impossible, show that there is also no isomerization of the olefin radical anion. With triisopropylamine or fumarodinitrile as the reaction partner for 4,4′‐dimethoxystilbene (= 1,1′‐[(1E)‐ethane‐1,2‐diyl]bis[4‐methoxybenzene]), both oxidative and reductive quenching give almost mirror‐image CIDNP spectra because of the pairing theorem; reverse electron transfer of the triplet radical‐ion pairs populates the stilbene triplet only, which then isomerizes. With anethole (= 1‐methoxy‐4‐(prop‐1‐enyl)benzene; M), the competition between electron return of triplet pairs to give either M + 3X or 3M + X was studied by using a second isomerizable olefin (diethyl fumarate (= diethyl (2E)‐but‐2‐enedioate) or cinnamonitrile (= (2E)‐3‐phenylprop‐2‐enenitrile)) as the reaction partner X. Classes can be changed by employing PET sensitization. With ACN (anthracene‐9‐carbonitrile) as the sensitizer, anethole does not produce any directly observable polarizations, but a substitution of ACN.? by the radical anion of 1,4‐benzoquinone (= cyclohexa‐2,5‐diene‐1,4‐dione) or fumarodinitrile within the lifetime of the spin‐correlated radical‐ion pairs leads to very strong CIDNP signals that reflect the effects of both pairs.  相似文献

“Chemistry‐on‐the‐complex” synthetic methods have allowed the selective addition of 1‐ethynylpyrene appendages to the 3‐, 5‐, 3,8‐ and 5,6‐positions of IrIII‐coordinated 1,10‐phenanthroline via Sonogashira cross‐coupling. The resulting suite of complexes has given rise to the first rationalization of their absorption and emission properties as a function of the number and position of the pyrene moieties. Strong absorption in the visible region (e.g. 3,8‐substituted Ir‐3 : λabs=481 nm, ?=52 400 m ?1 cm?1) and long‐lived triplet excited states (e.g. 5‐substituted Ir‐2 : τT=367.7 μs) were observed for the complexes in deaerated CH2Cl2. On testing the series as triplet sensitizers for triplet–triplet annihilation upconversion, those IrIII complexes bearing pyrenyl appendages at the 3‐ and 3,8‐positions ( Ir‐1 , Ir‐3 ) were found to give optimal upconversion quantum yields (30.2 % and 31.6 % respectively).  相似文献

Cyclometalated IrIII complexes with acetylide ppy and bpy ligands were prepared (ppy=2‐phenylpyridine, bpy=2,2′‐bipyridine) in which naphthal ( Ir‐2 ) and naphthalimide (NI) were attached onto the ppy ( Ir‐3 ) and bpy ligands ( Ir‐4 ) through acetylide bonds. [Ir(ppy)3] ( Ir‐1 ) was also prepared as a model complex. Room‐temperature phosphorescence was observed for the complexes; both neutral and cationic complexes Ir‐3 and Ir‐4 showed strong absorption in the visible range (ε=39600 M ?1 cm?1 at 402 nm and ε=25100 M ?1 cm?1 at 404 nm, respectively), long‐lived triplet excited states (τT=9.30 μs and 16.45 μs) and room‐temperature red emission (λem=640 nm, Φp=1.4 % and λem=627 nm, Φp=0.3 %; cf. Ir‐1 : ε=16600 M ?1 cm?1 at 382 nm, τem=1.16 μs, Φp=72.6 %). Ir‐3 was strongly phosphorescent in non‐polar solvent (i.e., toluene), but the emission was completely quenched in polar solvents (MeCN). Ir‐4 gave an opposite response to the solvent polarity, that is, stronger phosphorescence in polar solvents than in non‐polar solvents. Emission of Ir‐1 and Ir‐2 was not solvent‐polarity‐dependent. The T1 excited states of Ir‐2 , Ir‐3 , and Ir‐4 were identified as mainly intraligand triplet excited states (3IL) by their small thermally induced Stokes shifts (ΔEs), nanosecond time‐resolved transient difference absorption spectroscopy, and spin‐density analysis. The complexes were used as triplet photosensitizers for triplet‐triplet annihilation (TTA) upconversion and quantum yields of 7.1 % and 14.4 % were observed for Ir‐2 and Ir‐3 , respectively, whereas the upconversion was negligible for Ir‐1 and Ir‐4 . These results will be useful for designing visible‐light‐harvesting transition‐metal complexes and for their applications as triplet photosensitizers for photocatalysis, photovoltaics, TTA upconversion, etc.  相似文献

Thioxanthone–anthracene‐9‐carboxylic acid (TX‐ANCA) namely 14‐oxo‐14H‐naphthol [2,3‐b]thioxanten‐12‐carboxylic acid, is synthesized and characterized as part of our continuing interest for syntheses of polyaromatic initiators. Photoinitiator, TX‐ANCA have good absorption properties in the UV and visible region of the electromagnetic spectrum (ɛ370: 9080 M−1cm−1, ɛ430: 6151 M−1 cm−1). The fluorescence quantum yield is calculated as 0.1 which is slightly higher than of the parent thioxanthone compound (φf: 0.07). The phosphorescence lifetime is found to be 39 ms. The possible initiating mechanism of TX‐ANCA is based on photoexcitation of TX‐ANCA and quenching of triplet excited states of TX‐ANCA by molecular oxygen generates singlet oxygen. Singlet oxygen reacts with the anthracene moiety of TX‐ANCA possibly forms an endoperoxide. The endoperoxides undergoes photochemical or thermal decomposition to form radicals which are able to initiate free radical polymerization. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J. Polym. New PdII and PtII complexes with a highly electron‐deficient ligand (H2PcF64) were conveniently prepared in a three‐step synthesis. This is the first time that the phosphorescence of phthalocyanines with a H2PcF64 framework has been measured. Based on these measurements, the triplet‐state energies (ET) were directly determined. Transient absorption experiments revealed broad T1→Tn absorption spanning from ca. 350 to ca. 1000 nm and allowed determination of the triplet‐state lifetimes. Removal of the Pd or Pt from the perfluoro‐phthalocyanine resulted in a significant increase of the triplet lifetime for H2PcF64. The very efficient intersystem crossing observed for both PdPcF64 and PtPcF64 leads to residual fluorescence and suppresses the fluorescence lifetimes to less than 50 ps. The absence of Pd and Pt in the perfluoro‐phthalocyanine ligand, viz. H2PcF64, led to a recovery of fluorescence. Cyclic voltamperometry studies pointed to complete resistance of PdPcF64 and PtPcF64 to oxidation and very strong electron affinity, which rendered these materials very good electron acceptors (n‐type materials). The presence of d‐orbital metals such as PdII and PtII in the phthalocyanine ring stabilizes their reduced forms, as indicated by the spectroelectrochemical experiments. PdPcF64 and PtPcF64 easily sensitize singlet oxygen production with very high quantum yields. Both phthalocyanines presented resistance to photodegradation in the solid state under aerobic conditions and under intense irradiation.  相似文献

The mechanism of eosin-sensitized photoreduction of benzil with 1-benzyl-1,4-dihydronicotinamide — a model compound of NAD(P)H and the behavior of the excited states of eosin have been investigated. The effect of anthracene as a diffusion-controlled quencher of the photoreaction indicates that both excited triplet state and an unquenchable excited singlet state of eosin participated in the sensitized photoreaction. From the Stern-Volmer plot of quantum yield vs. anthracene concentration, the triplet reaction rate constant has been calculated to be 0.78 × 108 L M?1S?1 while the singlet reaction rate constant determined from quenching of eosin fluorescence by benzil is equal to 7.2 × 109 L M?1S?1. The singlet and triplet quantum yields are also determined to be 0.09 and 0.18 respectively. Since both the singlet and triplet energies of eosin are lower than that of benzil, energy transfer sensitization is not feasible. It is proposed that electron transfer from the excited eosin to benzil is responsible for the initiation.  相似文献

Herein, 9,10‐dihydro‐9,9‐dimethylacridine (Ac) or phenoxazine (PXZ)‐substituted isonicotinonitrile (INN) derivatives, denoted as 2AcINN , 26AcINN , and 26PXZINN , were developed as a series of thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) emitters. These emitters showed reasonably high photoluminescence quantum yields of 71–79 % in the host films and high power efficiency organic light‐emitting diodes (OLEDs). Sky‐blue emitter 26AcINN exhibited a low turn‐on voltage of 2.9 V, a high external quantum efficiency (η ext) of 22 %, and a high power efficiency (η p) of 66 lm W−1 with Commission Internationale de l′Eclairage (CIE) chromaticity coordinates of (0.22, 0.45), whereas green emitter 26PXZINN exhibited a low turn‐on voltage of 2.2 V, a high η ext of 22 %, and a high η p of 99 lm W−1 with CIE chromaticity coordinates of (0.37, 0.58). These performances are among the best for TADF OLEDs to date.  相似文献

Anthracene was used to form an inclusion complex with methylated-β-cyclodextrin (Me-β-CD) in water. In aqueous Me-β-CD solution, typical fluorescence emission of anthracene was observed. Benesi–Hildebrand's method was used to obtain the stoichiometry of the anthracene–Me-β-CD complex. The Stern–Volmer quenching constants, Ksv, and fluorescence quantum yields were calculated according to changes in the fluorescence emission intensity of anthracene–Me-β-CD inclusion complexes by adding various amounts of Pb2+ and Cd2+ salts in water. The Ksv values and fluorescence quantum yields indicate that Pb2+ salts quench the anthracene–Me-β-CD inclusion complexes more efficiently than Cd2+ salts.  相似文献

RuII–bis‐pyridine complexes typically absorb below 450 nm in the UV spectrum and their molar extinction coefficients are only moderate (ε<16 000 M ?1 cm?1). Thus, RuII–polyimine complexes that show intense visible‐light absorptions are of great interest. However, no effective light‐harvesting ruthenium(II)/organic chromophore arrays have been reported. Herein, we report the first visible‐light‐harvesting RuII–coumarin arrays, which absorb at 475 nm (ε up to 63 300 M ?1 cm?1, 4‐fold higher than typical RuII–polyimine complexes). The donor excited state in these arrays is efficiently converted into an acceptor excited state (i.e., efficient energy‐transfer) without losses in the phosphorescence quantum yield of the acceptor. Based on steady‐state and time‐resolved spectroscopy and DFT calculations, we proposed a general rule for the design of RuII–polypyridine–chromophore light‐harvesting arrays, which states that the 1IL energy level of the ligand must be close to the respective energy level of the metal‐to‐ligand charge‐transfer (M LCT) states. Lower energy levels of 1IL/3IL than the corresponding 1M LCT/3M LCT states frustrate the cascade energy‐transfer process and, as a result, the harvested light energy cannot be efficiently transferred to the acceptor. We have also demonstrated that the light‐harvesting effect can be used to improve the upconversion quantum yield to 15.2 % (with 9,10‐diphenylanthracene as a triplet‐acceptor/annihilator), compared to the parent complex without the coumarin subunit, which showed an upconversion quantum yield of only 0.95 %.  相似文献

The facile synthesis of Group 9 RhIII porphyrin‐aza‐BODIPY conjugates that are linked through an orthogonal Rh?C(aryl) bond is reported. The conjugates combine the advantages of the near‐IR (NIR) absorption and intense fluorescence of aza‐BODIPY dyes with the long‐lived triplet states of transition metal rhodium porphyrins. Only one emission peak centered at about 720 nm is observed, irrespective of the excitation wavelength, demonstrating that the conjugates act as unique molecules rather than as dyads. The generation of a locally excited (LE) state with intramolecular charge‐transfer (ICT) character has been demonstrated by solvatochromic effects in the photophysical properties, singlet oxygen quantum yields in polar solvents, and by the results of density functional theory (DFT) calculations. In nonpolar solvents, the RhIII conjugates exhibit strong aza‐BODIPY‐centered fluorescence at around 720 nm (ΦF=17–34 %), and negligible singlet oxygen generation. In polar solvents, enhancements of the singlet‐oxygen quantum yield (ΦΔ=19–27 %, λex=690 nm) have been observed. Nanosecond pulsed time‐resolved absorption spectroscopy confirms that relatively long‐lived triplet excited states are formed. The synthetic methodology outlined herein provides a useful strategy for the assembly of functional materials that are highly desirable for a wide range of applications in material science and biomedical fields.  相似文献
