In the context of solar-to-chemical energy conversion, inspired by natural photosynthesis, the synthesis, electrochemical properties and photoinduced electron-transfer processes of three novel zinc(II)-gold(III) bis(porphyrin) dyads [ZnII(P)–AuIII(P)]+ are presented (P: tetraaryl porphyrin). Time-resolved spectroscopic studies indicated ultrafast dynamics (k >1010 s−1) after visible-light excitation, which finally yielded a charge-shifted state [ZnII(P ⋅ +)–AuII(P)]+ featuring a gold(II) center. The lifetime of this excited state is quite long due to a comparably slow charge recombination (k ≈3×108 s−1). The [ZnII(P ⋅ +)–AuII(P)]+ charge-shifted state is reductively quenched by amines in bimolecular reactions, yielding the neutral zinc(II)–gold(II) bis(porphyrin) ZnII(P)–AuII(P). The electronic nature of this key gold(II) intermediate, prepared by chemical or photochemical reduction, is elucidated by UV/Vis, X-band EPR, gold L3-edge X-ray absorption near edge structure (XANES) and paramagnetic 1H NMR spectroscopy as well as by quantum chemical calculations. Finally, the gold(II) site in ZnII(P)–AuII(P) is thermodynamically and kinetically competent to reduce an aryl azide to the corresponding aryl amine, paving the way to catalytic applications of gold(III) porphyrins in photoredox catalysis involving the gold(III/II) redox couple.  相似文献

The question raised in the title of this progress report is answered point for point with an emphatic “yes”: Ranging from metallic gold, via clusters of gold atoms in low valence states, compounds of AuI, AuII, AuIII, and AuV, organogold derivatives, ylide and carbene complexes, to the catalytic activity of gold it embraces a long-neglected area of chemistry holding promise of many a discovery.  相似文献

This article reviews progress in the research of transition metal–lanthanide (d–f) bimetallic complexes. Through efficient energy transfer, sensitized luminescence of lanthanide ions from the visible range (EuIII) to the near-infrared region (NdIII, YbIII, ErIII and PrIII) is obtained in these bimetallic assembles. The d-block in d–f bimetallic complexes mainly contributes to the improvement of lanthanide emission efficiency and the extension of the excitation window for the lanthanide complexes. Examples are catalogued by various transition metals, such as RuII, OsII (FeII), PtII (AuI), PdII, ReI, CrIII, CoIII, ZnII and IrIII. The relevant synthetic procedures, crystal structures and photophysical properties of these d–f complexes are briefly described. Additionally, the molecular properties responsible for the performance of certain d–f systems, such as energy levels, nuclear distances and coordination environments, will be discussed.  相似文献

Details of the reaction sequence used for the fluorimetric detection of phosphates by disassembly of transition metal Schiff base complexes were investigated for [FeIII(salen)(H2O)]+, [ZnII(salen)], [MnII(salen)(H2O)2], and [MnIII(salen)(H2O)]+. The reactivity of these compounds towards phosphorus oxoanions of differing charge, number of donor atoms and steric hindrance was detected by UV/Vis and fluorescence spectroscopy in both aprotic organic and aqueous media. Selectivity of [FeIII(salen)(H2O)]+ towards pyrophosphate over all other tested phosphorus-containing analytes was strongly supported. [ZnII(salen)] showed a faster reactivity but was much less selective. In contrast, [MnIII(salen)(H2O)]+ proved to be more stable than the iron complex but generally showed little reactivity towards phosphorus oxoanions. The influence of the charge of the central atom was investigated using the MnII analogue [MnII(salen)(H2O)2]. As expected, the reduced charge resulted in a reactivity comparable to the ZnII complex in organic solution but lead to hydrolysis of the complex in water. Finally, the reaction products of [FeIII(salen)(H2O)]+ with phosphates were characterized by IR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry, providing further insights into the reaction mechanism of the disassembly process.  相似文献

Complexes of type [LAuCl] (L=phosphine, phosphite, NHC and others) are widely employed in homogeneous catalysis, however, they are usually inactive as such and must be used jointly with a halide scavenger. To date, this role has mostly been entrusted to silver salts (AgSbF6, AgPF6, AgBF4, AgOTf, etc.). However, silver salts can be the source of deactivation processes or side reactions, so it is sometimes advisable to use silver‐free cationic gold complexes, which can be difficult to synthesize and to handle compared with the more robust chloride. We show in this study that various Lewis acids of the transition and main group metal families are expedient substitutes to silver salts. We have tested CuI, CuII, ZnII, InIII, SiIV, BiIII, and other salts in a variety of typical AuI‐catalyzed transformations, and the results have revealed that [LAuCl] can form active species in their presence.  相似文献

The synthesis, reactivity, and potential of well‐defined dinuclear gold complexes as precursors for dual gold catalysis are explored. Using the preorganizing abilities of the ditopic PNHPiPr ( LH ) ligand, dinuclear AuI–AuI complex 1 and mixed‐valent AuI–AuIII complex 2 provide access to structurally characterized chlorido‐bridged cationic species 3 and 4 upon halide abstraction. For 2 , this transformation involves unprecedented two‐electron oxidation of the redox‐active ligand, generating a highly rigidified environment for the Au2 core. Facile reaction with phenylacetylene affords the σ,π‐activated phenylacetylide complex 5 . When applied in the dual gold heterocycloaddition of a urea‐functionalized alkyne, well‐defined precatalyst 3 provides high regioselectivities for the anti‐Markovnikov product, even at low catalyst loadings, and outperforms common mononuclear AuI systems. This proof‐of‐concept demonstrates the benefit of preorganization of two gold centers to enforce selective non‐classical σ,π‐activation with bifunctional substrates.  相似文献

In the last decade, major advances have been made in homogeneous gold catalysis. However, AuI/AuIII catalytic cycle remains much less explored due to the reluctance of AuI to undergo oxidative addition and the stability of the AuIII intermediate. Herein, we report activation of aryl halides at gold(I) enabled by NHC (NHC=N-heterocyclic carbene) ligands through the development of a new class of L-shaped heterobidentate ImPy (ImPy=imidazo[1,5-a]pyridin-3-ylidene) N,C ligands that feature hemilabile character of the amino group in combination with strong σ-donation of the carbene center in a rigid conformation, imposed by the ligand architecture. Detailed characterization and control studies reveal key ligand features for AuI/AuIII redox cycle, wherein the hemilabile nitrogen is placed at the coordinating position of a rigid framework. Given the tremendous significance of homogeneous gold catalysis, we anticipate that this ligand platform will find widespread application.  相似文献

First-in-class CuII and AuIII metaled phosphorus dendrons were synthesized and showed significant antiproliferative activity against several aggressive breast cancer cell lines. The data suggest that the cytotoxicity increases with reducing length of the alkyl chains, whereas the replacement of CuII with AuIII considerably increases the antiproliferative activity of metaled phosphorus dendrons. Very interestingly, we found that the cell death pathway is related to the nature of the metal complexed by the plain dendrons. CuII metaled dendrons showed a potent caspase-independent cell death pathway, whereas AuIII metaled dendrons displayed a caspase-dependent apoptotic pathway. The complexation of plain dendrons with AuIII increased the cellular lethality versus dendrons with CuII and promoted the translocation of Bax into the mitochondria and the release of Cytochrome C (Cyto C).  相似文献

Herein, we disclose the gold‐catalyzed 1,2‐diarylation of alkenes through the interplay of ligand‐enabled AuI/AuIII catalysis with the idiosyncratic π‐activation mode of gold complexes. Unlike the classical migratory‐insertion‐based approach to 1,2‐diarylation, the present approach not only circumvents the formation of direct Ar?Ar′ coupling and Heck‐type side products but more intriguingly demonstrates reactivity and selectivity complementary to those of previously known metal catalysis (Pd, Ni, or Cu). Detailed investigations to underpin the mechanistic scenario revealed oxidative addition of aryl iodides to an AuI complex to be the rate‐limiting step owing to the non‐innocent nature of the aryl alkene.  相似文献

Due to the high oxidation potential between AuI and AuIII, gold redox catalysis requires at least stoichiometric amounts of a strong oxidant. We herein report the first example of an electrochemical approach in promoting gold‐catalyzed oxidative coupling of terminal alkynes. Oxidation of AuI to AuIII was successfully achieved through anode oxidation, which enabled facile access to either symmetrical or unsymmetrical conjugated diynes through homo‐coupling or cross‐coupling. This report extends the reaction scope of this transformation to substrates that are not compatible with strong chemical oxidants and potentiates the versatility of gold redox chemistry through the utilization of electrochemical oxidative conditions.  相似文献

In recent years interest in the development of protocols that facilitate the oxidative addition of gold to access mild cross-coupling processes mediated by this metal has increased. In this context, we report herein that ascorbic acid, a natural and readily accessible antioxidant, can be used to accelerate the oxidative addition of aryldiazonium chlorides onto AuI. The aryl–AuIII species generated in this way, has been used to prepare 3-arylindoles in a one-pot protocol starting from anilines and para-, meta-, and ortho- substituted aryldiazonium chlorides. The mechanism underlying the oxidative addition has been examined in detail based on EPR analyses, cyclic voltammetry, and DFT calculations. Interestingly, we have found that in this protocol, the chloride atom induces the AuII/AuIII oxidation step.  相似文献

With the aim of exploiting the use of organometallic species for the efficient modification of proteins through C-atom transfer, the gold-mediated cysteine arylation through a reductive elimination process occurring from the reaction of cyclometalated AuIII C^N complexes with a zinc finger peptide (Cys2His2 type) is here reported. Among the four selected AuIII cyclometalated compounds, the [Au(CCON)Cl2] complex featuring the 2-benzoylpyridine (CCON) scaffold was identified as the most prone to reductive elimination and Cys arylation in buffered aqueous solution (pH 7.4) at 37 °C by high-resolution LC electrospray ionization mass spectrometry. DFT and quantum mechanics/molecular mechanics (QM/MM) studies permitted to propose a mechanism for the title reaction that is in line with the experimental results. Overall, the results provide new insights into the reactivity of cytotoxic organogold compounds with biologically important zinc finger domains and identify initial structure–activity relationships to enable AuIII-catalyzed reductive elimination in aqueous media.  相似文献

Summary: Coinage metal salts (e.g. AuIII, AgI and CuII salts) readily react with thiols to give the corresponding metal(I) thiolates. These thiolate species are known to either self-assemble into insoluble polymeric species or to form soluble oligomers, depending on the nature of the thiol ligand. Here we demonstrate that this self-assembling ability can be applied to create supramolecular hydrogels. Glutathione (GSH), a naturally occurring tripeptide, has been used in combination with AuIII, AgI and CuII salts to obtain pH responsive hydrogels that are able to gelate 100 times their weight in water.  相似文献

The photophysical properties of a series of T-shaped coinage d10 metal complexes, supported by a bis(mesoionic carbene)carbazolide (CNC) pincer ligand, are explored. The series includes a rare new example of a tridentate T-shaped AgI complex. Post-complexation modification of the AuI complex provides access to a linear cationic AuI complex following ligand alkylation, or the first example of a cationic square planar AuIII−F complex from electrophilic attack on the metal centre. Emissions ranging from blue (CuI) to orange (AgI) are obtained, with variable contributions of thermally-dependent fluorescence and phosphorescence to the observed photoluminescence. Green emissions are observed for all three gold complexes (neutral T-shaped AuI, cationic linear AuI and square planar cationic AuIII). The higher quantum yield and longer decay lifetime of the linear gold(I) complex are indicative of increased phosphorescence contribution.  相似文献

The synthesis and characterization of hitherto hypothetical AuIII π‐alkyne complexes is reported. Bonding and stability depend strongly on the trans effect and steric factors. Bonding characteristics shed light on the reasons for the very different stabilities between the classical alkyne complexes of PtII and their drastically more reactive AuIII congeners. Lack of back‐bonding facilitates alkyne slippage, which is energetically less costly for gold than for platinum and explains the propensity of gold to facilitate C−C bond formation. Cycloaddition followed by aryl migration and reductive deprotonation is presented as a new reaction sequence in gold chemistry.  相似文献

The effect of the nature of organic electron transfer agents and of PtII, PdII, RhII, CoII, NiII, CuII, CrIII, MnII, TiIII, VIII, ZnII, and AgI metal ions on the kinetics of the homogeneous reduction ofgem-dichlorocyclopropanes has been studied. PtII, PdII, RhIII, CoII, and NiII ions accelerate this process, VIII and AgI ions exert practically no effect on the reduction rate, and the rest of the metal ions exhibit inhibitor properties.Translated fromIzvestiya Akademii Nauk.
