This paper proposes an analytical method for simultaneous near-infrared (NIR) spectrometric determination of α-linolenic and linoleic acid in eight types of edible vegetable oils and their blending. For this purpose, a combination of spectral wavelength selection by wavelet transform (WT) and elimination of uninformative variables (UVE) was proposed to obtain simple partial least square (PLS) models based on a small subset of wavelengths. WT was firstly utilized to compress full NIR spectra which contain 1413 redundant variables, and 42 wavelet approximate coefficients were obtained. UVE was then carried out to further select the informative variables. Finally, 27 and 19 wavelet approximate coefficients were selected by UVE for α-linolenic and linoleic acid, respectively. The selected variables were used as inputs of PLS model. Due to original spectra were compressed, and irrelevant variables were eliminated, more parsimonious and efficient model based on WT-UVE was obtained compared with the conventional PLS model with full spectra data. The coefficient of determination (r2) and root mean square error prediction set (RMSEP) for prediction set were 0.9345 and 0.0123 for α-linolenic acid prediction by WT-UVE-PLS model. The r2 and RMSEP were 0.9054, 0.0437 for linoleic acid prediction. The good performance showed a potential application using WT-UVE to select NIR effective variables. WT-UVE can both speed up the calculation and improve the predicted results. The results indicated that it was feasible to fast determine α-linolenic acid and linoleic acid content in edible oils using NIR spectroscopy.  相似文献

Near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy, in combination with chemometrics, enable the analysis of raw materials without time-consuming sample preparation methods. The aim of our work was to estimate critical parameters in the analytical specification of oxytetracycline, and consequently the development of a method for quantification and qualification of these parameters by NIR spectroscopy. A Karl Fischer (K.F.) titration to determine the water content, a colorimetric assay method, and Fourier transform-infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy to identify the oxytetracycline base, were used as reference methods, respectively. Multivariate calibration was performed on NIR spectral data using principal component analysis (PCA), partial least-squares (PLS 1) and principal component regression (PCR) chemometric methods. Multivariate calibration models for NIR spectroscopy have been developed. Using PCA and the Soft Independent Modelling of Class Analogy (SIMCA) approach, we established the cluster model for the determination of sample identity. PLS 1 and PCR regression methods were applied to develop the calibration models for the determination of water content and the assay of the oxytetracycline base. Comparing the PLS and PCR regression methods we found out that the PLS is better established by NIR, especially as the spectroscopic data (NIR spectra) are highly collinear and there are many wavelengths due to non-selective wavelengths. The calibration models for NIR spectroscopy are convenient alternatives to the colorimetric method and to the K.F. method, as well as to FT-IR spectroscopy, in the routine control of incoming material.  相似文献

Cow milk adulteration involves the dilution of milk with a less-expensive component, such as water or whey. Near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) was employed to detect the adulterations of milk, non-destructively. Two adulteration types of cow milk with water and whey were prepared, respectively. NIR spectra of milk adulterations and natural milk samples in the region of 1100 - 2500 nm were collected. The classification of milk adulterations and natural milk were conducted by using discriminant partial least squares (DPLS) and soft independent modelling of class analogy (SIMCA) methods. PLS calibration models for the determination of water and whey contents in milk adulteration were also developed, individually. Comparisons of the classification methods, wavelength regions and data pretreatments were investigated, and are reported in this study. This study showed that NIR spectroscopy can be used to detect water or whey adulterants and their contents in milk samples.  相似文献

The elimination of wavelengths which contain useless or irrelevant information for calibration model is becoming one of the key steps in multicomponent spectral analysis even in situations where the partial least-squares (PLS) regression is applied. Because of the continuity of most kinds of spectral responses, the adaptive wavelength interval selection by modified particle swarm optimization (PSO) could be proposed in the present study. The proposed method was used for simultaneous spectrophotometric determination of caffeine, aspirin, and phenacetin and simultaneous differential pulse voltammetric determination of nitrophenol isomers. The method was eventually applied to commercial drugs. For comparison, a conventional full-spectrum PSO analysis was also performed. Experimental results demonstrate that the adaptive wavelength interval selection by modified PSO is capable of improving the future predictive ability of the model.  相似文献

Melamine (2,4,6-triamino-1,3,5-triazine) is a nitrogen-rich chemical implicated in the pet and human food recalls and in the global food safety scares involving milk products. Due to the serious health concerns associated with melamine consumption and the extensive scope of affected products, rapid and sensitive methods to detect melamine's presence are essential. We propose the use of spectroscopy data-produced by near-infrared (near-IR/NIR) and mid-infrared (mid-IR/MIR) spectroscopies, in particular—for melamine detection in complex dairy matrixes. None of the up-to-date reported IR-based methods for melamine detection has unambiguously shown its wide applicability to different dairy products as well as limit of detection (LOD) below 1 ppm on independent sample set. It was found that infrared spectroscopy is an effective tool to detect melamine in dairy products, such as infant formula, milk powder, or liquid milk. ALOD below 1 ppm (0.76 ± 0.11 ppm) can be reached if a correct spectrum preprocessing (pretreatment) technique and a correct multivariate (MDA) algorithm—partial least squares regression (PLS), polynomial PLS (Poly-PLS), artificial neural network (ANN), support vector regression (SVR), or least squares support vector machine (LS-SVM)—are used for spectrum analysis. The relationship between MIR/NIR spectrum of milk products and melamine content is nonlinear. Thus, nonlinear regression methods are needed to correctly predict the triazine-derivative content of milk products. It can be concluded that mid- and near-infrared spectroscopy can be regarded as a quick, sensitive, robust, and low-cost method for liquid milk, infant formula, and milk powder analysis.  相似文献

Synchronous 2D correlation spectroscopy was first proposed to select informational spectral intervals in PLS calibration. The proposed method could extract the spectral intervals related to analyte. The results of its application to NIR/PLS determination of quercetin in extract of Ginkgo biloba leaves showed that the proposed method could find out an optimized region with which one could improve the performance of the corresponding PLS model, in terms of low prediction error, root mean square error of prediction (RMSEP), and comparing with the result obtained using whole spectra and interval PLS.  相似文献

Near infrared (NIR) spectroscopy based on effective wavelengths (EWs) and chemometrics was proposed to discriminate the varieties of fruit vinegars including aloe, apple, lemon and peach vinegars. One hundred eighty samples (45 for each variety) were selected randomly for the calibration set, and 60 samples (15 for each variety) for the validation set, whereas 24 samples (6 for each variety) for the independent set. Partial least squares discriminant analysis (PLS-DA) and least squares-support vector machine (LS-SVM) were implemented for calibration models. Different input data matrices of LS-SVM were determined by latent variables (LVs) selected by explained variance, and EWs selected by x-loading weights, regression coefficients, modeling power and independent component analysis (ICA). Then the LS-SVM models were developed with a grid search technique and RBF kernel function. All LS-SVM models outperformed PLS-DA model, and the optimal LS-SVM model was achieved with EWs (4021, 4058, 4264, 4400, 4853, 5070 and 5273 cm−1) selected by regression coefficients. The determination coefficient (R2), RMSEP and total recognition ratio with cutoff value ±0.1 in validation set were 1.000, 0.025 and 100%, respectively. The overall results indicted that the regression coefficients was an effective way for the selection of effective wavelengths. NIR spectroscopy combined with LS-SVM models had the capability to discriminate the varieties of fruit vinegars with high accuracy.  相似文献

In this paper, we proposed a wavelength selection method based on random decision particle swarm optimization with attractor for near‐infrared (NIR) spectra quantitative analysis. The proposed method was incorporated with partial least square (PLS) to construct a prediction model. The proposed method chooses the current own optimal or the current global optimal to calculate the attractor. Then the particle updates its flight velocity by the attractor, and the particle state is updated by the random decision with the new velocity. Moreover, the root‐mean‐square error of cross‐validation is adopted as the fitness function for the proposed method. In order to demonstrate the usefulness of the proposed method, PLS with all wavelengths, uninformative variable elimination by PLS, elastic net, genetic algorithm combined with PLS, the discrete particle swarm optimization combined with PLS, the modified particle swarm optimization combined with PLS, the neighboring particle swarm optimization combined with PLS, and the proposed method are used for building the components quantitative analysis models of NIR spectral datasets, and the effectiveness of these models is compared. Two application studies are presented, which involve NIR data obtained from an experiment of meat content determination using NIR and a combustion procedure. Results verify that the proposed method has higher predictive ability for NIR spectral data and the number of selected wavelengths is less. The proposed method has faster convergence speed and could overcome the premature convergence problem. Furthermore, although improving the prediction precision may sacrifice the model complexity under a certain extent, the proposed method is overfitted slightly. Near-infrared (NIR) spectra in the region of 5000-4000 cm−1 with a chemometric method called searching combination moving window partial least squares (SCMWPLS) were employed to determine the concentrations of human serum albumin (HSA), γ-globulin, and glucose contained in the control serum IIB (CS IIB) solutions with various concentrations. SCMWPLS is proposed to search for the optimized combinations of informative regions, which are spectral intervals, considered containing useful information for building partial least squares (PLS) models. The informative regions can easily be found by moving window partial least squares regression (MWPLSR) method. PLS calibration models using the regions obtained by SCMWPLS were developed for HSA, γ-globulin, and glucose. These models showed good prediction with the smallest root mean square error of predictions (RMSEP), the relatively small number of PLS factors, and the highest correlation coefficients among the results achieved by using whole region and MWPLSR methods. The RMSEP values of HSA, γ-globulin, and glucose yielded by SCMWPLS were 0.0303, 0.0327, and 0.0195 g/dl, respectively. These results prove that SCMWPLS can be successfully applied to determine simultaneously the concentrations of HSA, γ-globulin, and glucose in complicated biological fluids such as CS IIB solutions by using NIR spectroscopy.  相似文献

This study investigated the content of macronutrients (Ca, K, Mg, Na, P, and S), trace elements (Ba, Be, Co, Cr, Cu, Fe, Ga, Li, Mn, Ni, Rb, Se, Sr, V, and Zn), and trace toxic elements (As, Cd, In, Pb, and Tl) in chili powder from Korea, China, and Vietnam. For the analyses, inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry (ICP-MS) and inductively coupled plasma-optical emission spectroscopy (ICP-OES) were used. In addition, near-infrared (NIR) spectroscopy was used to differentiate functional groups based on the chemical constituents. For the validation of the applied analytical methods, good linearity (coefficients of determination, 0.9443–0.99997), and relative standard deviations below 4% were obtained. The contents of the toxic elements were below the provisional tolerable weekly intake values. Linear discriminant analysis using elemental contents and NIR data was performed to establish and authenticate the geographical origin of chili powder, which confirmed the reliability of the obtained results.  相似文献
