MoOx,a non-noble secondary catalyst instead of noble metal Ru,was dispersed on carbon nanotubes(CNT)andthen the primary catalyst Pt was electrodeposited on MoO_x/CNT/graphite electrode by potential-step method.CNTused was grown directly on graphite disk by chemical vapor deposition. The Pt-MoO_x/CNT/graphite electrode wascharacterized by scanning electron microscopy and energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy. The electrocatalyticproperty and the long-term cyclic stability of Pt-MoO_x/CNT/graphite electrode for ethanol oxidation have been in-vestigated in 1.0 mol/L CH_3CH_2OH 0.1 mol/L H_2SO_4 by cyclic voltammetry. On the other hand, the effect of theloading mass of MoO_x on specific activity of Pt-MoO_x/CNT/graphite electrode and the activation energy of ethanoloxidation were investigated. The Pt-MoO_x/CNT/graphite electrode shows good long-term cyclic stability.82%value of peak current density at the oxidation peak around 0.69 V(vs.SCE)remains after 500 cycles, which ishigher than those of Pt/CNT/graphite and Pt-Ru/CNT/graphite electrodes with the corresponding values of 55% and72%,respectively.  相似文献

Pt-Ru supported on carbon nanotubes (CNTs) (single-walled nanotubes, double-walled nanotubes (DWNTs), and multi-walled nanotubes) catalysts are prepared by an ethylene glycol reduction method. Pt-Ru nanoparticles with a diameter of 2-3 nm and narrow particle size distributions are uniformly deposited onto the CNTs. A simple and fast filtration method followed by a hot-press film transfer is employed to prepare the anode catalyst layer on a Nafion membrane. The Pt-Ru/DWNTs catalyst shows the highest specific activity for methanol oxidation reaction in rotating disk electrode experiments and the highest performance as an anode catalyst in direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) single cell tests. The DMFC single cell with Pt-Ru/DWNTs (50 wt %, 0.34 mg Pt-Ru/cm(2)) produces a 68% enhancement of power density, and at the same time, an 83% reduction of Pt-Ru electrode loading when compared to Pt-Ru/C (40 wt %, 2.0 mg Pt-Ru/cm(2)).  相似文献

Platinum/ruthenium nanoparticles were decorated on carbon nanotubes (CNT) in supercritical carbon dioxide, and the nanocomposites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). TEM images show that the particles size is in the range of 5-10 nm, and XRD patterns show a face-centered cubic crystal structure. Methanol electrooxidation in 1 M sulfuric acid electrolyte containing 2 M methanol were studied onPtRu/CNT (Pt, 4.1 wt%; Ru, 2.3 wt%; molar ratio approximately Pt/Ru = 45:55) catalysts using cyclic voltammetry, linear sweep voltammetry, chronoamperometry, and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. All the electrochemical results show that PtRu/CNT catalysts exhibit high activity for methanol oxidation which resulted from the high surface area of carbon nanotubes and the nanostructure of platinum/ruthenium particles. Compared with Pt/CNT, the onset potential is much lower and the ratio of forward anodic peak current to reverse anodic peak current is much higher for methanol oxidation, which indicates the higher catalytic activity of PtRu/CNT. The presence of Ru with Pt accelerates the rate of methanol oxidation. The results demonstrated the feasibility of processing bimetallic catalysts in supercritical carbon dioxide for fuel cell applications.  相似文献

Using multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) as templates, noble metal (Au, Ag, Pt or Pd) nanoparticles (NPs) were fabricated in situ by electrochemistry with a diameter of 40–60 nm. Further, catalytic behaviors of these composite materials were investigated. Experiments showed that such carbon nanotubes decorated with Pd NPs modified glassy carbon electrodes exhibited higher electrocatalytic ability to some molecules such as evolution of hydrogen, reduction of oxygen and oxidation of ascorbic acid. Atomic force microscopy, X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy and cyclic voltammetry were used to characterize the film formation and their properties.  相似文献

In present work, reduced graphene oxide nanosheets (rGO) decorated with trimetallic three‐dimensional (3D) Pt−Pd−Co porous nanostructures was fabricated on glassy carbon electrode (Pt−Pd−Co/rGO/GCE). First, GO suspension was drop‐casted on the electrode surface, then GO film reduction was carried out by cycling the potential in negative direction to form the rGO film modified GCE (rGO/GCE). Then, electrodeposition of the cobalt nanoparticles (CoNPs) as sacrificial seeds was performed onto the rGO/GCE by using cyclic voltammetry. Afterward, Pt−Pd−Co 3D porous nanostructures fabrication occurs through galvanic replacement (GR) method based on a spontaneous redox process between PtCl2, PdCl2, and CoNPs. The morphology and structure of the Pt−Pd−Co/rGO porous nanostructure film was characterized by scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction method. The performance of the prepared electrode was investigated by various electrochemical methods including, cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. The electrocatalytic activity of the as‐prepared modified electrode with high surface areas was evaluated in anodic oxidation of ethylene glycol. The study on electrocatalytic performances revealed that, in comparison to various metal combinations in modified electrodes, trimetallic Pt−Pd−Co/rGO/GCE exhibit a lower onset potential, significantly higher peak current density, high durability and stability for the anodic oxidation of ethylene glycol. The excellent performances are attributed to the rGO as catalysts support and resulting synergistic effects of the trimetallic and appropriate characteristics of the resulted 3D porous nanostructures. Moreover, the influence of various concentrations of ethylene glycol, the potential scan rate and switching potential on the electrode reaction, in addition, long‐term stability have been studied by chronoamperometric and cyclic voltammetric methods.  相似文献

Conducting polymer composite films comprised of polypyrrole (PPy) and multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) [PPy–CNT] were synthesized by in situ polymerization of pyrrole on carbon nanotubes in 0.1 M HCl containing (NH4)S2O8 as oxidizing agent over a temperature range of 0–5 °C. Pt nanoparticles are deposited on PPy–CNT composite films by chemical reduction of H2PtCl6 using HCHO as reducing agent at pH = 11 [Pt/PPy–CNT]. The presence of MWCNTs leads to higher activity, which might be due to the increase of electrochemically accessible surface areas, electronic conductivity and easier charge-transfer at polymer/electrolyte interfaces allowing higher dispersion and utilization of the deposited Pt nanoparticles. A comparative investigation was carried out using Pt–Ru nanoparticles decorated PPy–CNT composites. Cyclic voltammetry demonstrated that the synthesized Pt–Ru/PPy–CNT catalysts exhibited higher catalytic activity for methanol oxidation than Pt/PPy–CNT catalyst. Such kinds of Pt and Pt–Ru particles deposited on PPy–CNT composite polymer films exhibit excellent catalytic activity and stability towards methanol oxidation, which indicates that the composite films is more promising support material for fuel cell applications.  相似文献

A simple one-step preparation of gold–platinum electrocatalysts supported on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) with high utilization is reported. A low Pt loading series of bimetallic AuPt/MWCNTs catalysts were prepared by the improved ethylene glycol reduction method, and then they were compared in terms of the electrocatalytic activity for methanol oxidation using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and chronoamperometry in alkaline solutions. The structure of AuPt/MWCNTs was characterized by the transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and energy-dispersive X-ray spectroscopy (EDS). The results showed high Pt utilization, uniform AuPt nanoparticles size and good electrocatalytic activity for methanol electro-oxidation. The effect of Au/Pt mass ratio on electrocatalytic activity was also investigated by CV and chronoamperometry. The highest peak current density, lowest onset potential and best anti-poisoning effect for methanol electro-oxidation appeared at the Au/Pt/MWCNTs mass ratio of 2:4:32.  相似文献

Electrooxidation of alcohols including methanol, ethanol, and isopropanol is studied on the modified solid glassy carbon electrodes with various amounts of platinum nanoparticles (PtNPs) immobilized on a composite of functionalized multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) and chitosan in an acidic solution. Here the chitosan is available as a binder to tightly anchor Pt nanoparticles onto the MWCNTs surfaces. MWCNTs/chitosan composite support can significantly improve the activity of the catalyst for alcohol oxidation and reduce the Pt catalyst loading. The calculated electrochemical active surface area is 379.2 m2/g Pt for PtNP–MWCNT/chitosan. Cyclic voltammetry and chronoamperometry techniques are employed for catalytic activity evaluation. The effects of operational parameters including platinum loading, concentration of the corresponding alcohol, concentration of the acid solution, scanning rate, and the final limit of anodic potential on the performance of the electrodes are also investigated.

Carbon nanotubes have been proposed as advanced metal catalyst support for electrocatalysis. In this work, different carbon support materials including single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs), multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTs) and XC-72 carbon black, were compared in terms of their electrochemical properties using cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS). The SWNTs is found to exhibit the highest accessible surface area in electrochemical reactions and the lowest charge transfer resistance at the SWNTs/electrolytes. These carbon materials are then loaded with varying amount of Pt by the electrodeposition technique to prepare carbon supported Pt catalysts. Electrochemical measurements of methanol oxidation reveal that the SWNTs supported Pt catalyst exhibits the highest mass activity (mA/mg-Pt). In comparison with Pt-XC-72 and Pt-MWNTs, the remarkably enhanced electrocatalytic activity of the Pt-SWNTs maybe attributed to a higher dispersion and utilization of the Pt particles, which are directly related to the electrochemical characteristics of SWNTs. The high concentration of oxygen-containing functional groups, high accessible surface area, low charge transfer resistance at the carbon/electrolyte interfaces can be important for the Pt dispersing and strong metal-support interaction in the Pt-SWNTs catalyst.  相似文献

A novel chemical method based on ultrasonic assisted polyol synthesis for the fabrication of highly dispersed Pt nanoparticles on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) was developed. The simple and green method took only about 10 min at ambient temperature. The structure and chemical nature of the resulting Pt/MWCNT composites were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and energy dispersive X-ray spectrometry (EDS). The results showed that the prepared Pt nanoparticles were uniformly dispersed on the MWCNT surface. The mean size of Pt nanoparticles was about 2.8 nm. Electrochemical properties of Pt/MWCNT electrode for methanol oxidation were examined by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and excellent electrocatalytic activities could be observed. The possible formation mechanism of Pt/MWCNTs was also discussed.  相似文献

A new catalyst support, polyoxometalate-modified carbon nanotubes, is presented in this paper through the chemisorption between polyoxometalate and carbon. Pt and Pt-Ru nanoparticles were electrochemically deposited on polyoxometalate-modified carbon nanotubes electrodes, and their electrocatalytic properties for methanol electro-oxidation are investigated in detail. Due to the unique electrical properties of carbon nanotubes and the excellent redox properties and the high protonic conductivity of polyoxometalate, for the similar deposition charge of Pt and Pt-Ru catalysts, 1.4 times larger exchange current density, 1.5 times higher specific activity, and better cycle stabilities can be obtained at polyoxometalate-modified carbon nanotube electrodes as compared to the electrodes without polyoxometalate modification. These results show that polyoxometalate-modified carbon nanotubes as a new catalyst support have good potential application in direct methanol fuel cells.  相似文献

A simple method is devised to deposit well-dispersed Pd nanoparticles on multi-walled carbon nanotubes (CNTs). Pd nanoparticles (1–3 nm) prepared in ethanol were transferred to toluene solution and modified by organic molecule benzyl mercaptan which acts as a cross linker between Pd nanoparticles and CNTs. The morphology and structure of the resulting Pd/CNT nanocomposite were characterized by transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and X-ray diffraction (XRD). The results show that Pd nanoparticles were highly dispersed and effectively anchored on CNTs. The excellent electrocatalytic activity of the Pd/CNT nanocomposite for the oxidation of hydrazine was demonstrated by cyclic voltammetry.  相似文献

A series of nanocatalysts consisting of acid treated carbon nanotubes (CNTs) with different diameters (8-15, 20-30, 30-50, >50 nm) supporting platinum (Pt) nanoparticles (Pt/CNTs) were synthesized via a microwave-assisted ethylene glycol method. The as-synthesized catalysts were characterized by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), X-ray diffraction (XRD), thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Their catalytic performances in the oxygen reduction reaction (ORR) were evaluated by cyclic voltammetry (CV) and linear sweep voltammetry (LSV). The experimental results showed that the diameter of the CNTs influences the particle size, loading, and dispersion of Pt NPs. Furthermore, the Pt/CNTs having different CNT diameters displayed different catalytic activities in the ORR. The catalyst Pt/CNT8, which was prepared by using CNTs with diameters ranging between 8-15 nm as the support, exhibited the highest Pt loading, catalytic activity, and stability in the ORR. The mass activity of Pt/CNT8 was determined to be 0.188 A·mg-1 at 0.9 V, which is folds higher than that of the commercially available JM Pt/C catalyst. After testing the stability for 5000 potential cycles, the negative shift (~7 mV) of the half-wave potential for Pt/CNT8 was found to be significantly lesser than that for the JM Pt/C catalyst (~32 mV), indicating superior catalytic stability.  相似文献

We report a novel process to prepare well-dispersed Pt nanoparticles on CNTs. Pt nanoparticles, which were modified by the organic molecule triphenylphosphine, were deposited on multiwalled carbon nanotubes by the organic molecule, which acts as a cross linker. By manipulating the relative ratio of Pt nanoparticles and multiwalled carbon nanotubes in solution, Pt/CNT composites with different Pt content were achieved. The so-prepared Pt/CNT composite materials show higher electrocatalytic activity and better tolerance to poisoning species in methanol oxidation than the commercial E-TEK catalyst, which can be ascribed to the high dispersion of Pt nanoparticles on the multiwalled carbon nanotube surface.  相似文献

Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) are employed to investigate methanol oxidation reactions on single-walled carbon nanotube-supported platinum (Pt) and platinum–ruthenium (Pt-Ru) nanoparticles. EIS and CV measurements show consistent results: Pt catalyst supported on single-walled carbon nanotubes possesses higher catalytic activity for methanol oxidation than that on carbon black. Additionally, semicircles in the second quadrant of the Nyquist diagrams are observed for methanol oxidation on all types of catalytic nanoparticles when applying an electrical potential of 600 mV, which indicates the occurrence of negative resistance during electrocatalytic methanol oxidations. However, all impedance spectra show positive resistance at other electrode potentials (e.g., 300, 400, and 800 mV). Electrocatalytic characteristics of all catalysts are further analyzed by equivalent circuit simulations. We propose that intermediate coverage on the catalyst surface and subsequently the oscillation of nonlinear electrochemical methanol oxidations lead to the occurrence of negative resistance at 600 mV.  相似文献
