This paper describes the use of a dental amalgam electrode (DAE) to evaluate the electrochemical behaviour and to develop an electroanalytical procedure for determination of diquat herbicide in natural water and potato samples. The work was based on the square wave voltammetry responses of diquat, which presented two well-defined and reversible reduction peaks, at −0.56 V (peak 1) and −1.00 V (peak 2). The experimental and voltammetric parameters were optimised, and the analytical curves were constructed and compared to similar curves performed by high performance liquid chromatography coupled to ultraviolet-visible spectrophotometric detector (HPLC/UV-vis). The responses were directly proportional to diquat concentration in a large interval of concentration, and the calculated detection limits were very similar, around 10 μg L−1 (10 ppb) for voltammetric and chromatographic experiments. These values were lower than the maximum residue limit established for natural water by the Brazilian Environmental Agency. The recovery percentages in pure electrolyte, natural water and potato samples showed values from 70% to 130%, demonstrating that the voltammetric methodology proposed is suitable for determining any contamination by diquat in different samples, minimising the toxic residues due to the use of liquid mercury or the adsorptive process relative to use of other solid surfaces.  相似文献

This study examines the application of solid-phase microextraction coupled with high performance liquid chromatography combined with post-column photochemically induced fluorimetry derivatization and fluorescence detection (SPME-HPLC-PIF-FD) for the determination of four phenylurea herbicides (monolinuron, diuron, linuron and neburon) and propanil in groundwater. Direct immersion (DI) SPME was applied using a 60 μm polydimethylsiloxane/divinylbenzene (PDMS/DVB) fiber for the extraction of the pesticides from groundwater samples. An AQUASIL C18 column (150 mm × 4.6 mm i.d., 5 μm) was used for separation and determination in HPLC. The method was evaluated with respect to the limits of detection (LODs) and the limits of quantification (LOQs) according to IUPAC. The limits of detection varied between 0.019 μg L−1 and 0.034 μg L−1. Limits of quantification ranged between 0.051 μg L−1 and 0.088 μg L−1. These values meet the recommended limits for individual pesticides in groundwater (0.1 μg L−1) established by the EU. Recoveries ranged between 86% and 105% and relative standard deviation values between 2% and 8%.  相似文献

A simple electrochemical method was developed for the single and simultaneous determination of butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA) and butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT) in food samples using square-wave voltammetry (SWV). A carbon composite electrode modified (MCCE) with copper (II) phosphate immobilized in a polyester resin was proposed. The modified electrode allowed the detection of BHA and BHT at potentials lower than those observed at unmodified electrodes. A separation of about 430 mV between the peak oxidation potentials of BHA and BHT in binary mixtures was obtained. The calibration curves for the simultaneous determination of BHA and BHT demonstrated an excellent linear response in the range from 3.4 × 10−7 to 4.1 × 10−5 mol L−1 for both compounds. The detection limits for the simultaneous determination of BHA and BHT were 7.2 × 10−8 and 9.3 × 10−8 mol L−1, respectively. In addition, the stability and repeatability of the electrode were determined. The proposed method was successfully applied in the simultaneous determination of BHA and BHT in several food samples, and the results obtained were found to be similar to those obtained using the high performance liquid chromatography method with agreement at 95% confidence level.  相似文献

A sensitive preconcentration methodology for Cd determination at trace levels in water samples was developed in this work. 1-Butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([C4MIM][PF6]) room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL) was successfully used for Cd preconcentration, as cadmium-2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol complex [Cd-5-Br-PADAP]. Subsequently, Cd was back-extracted from the RTIL phase with 500 μL of 0.5 mol L−1 nitric acid and determined by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (ETAAS). A preconcentration factor of 40 was achieved with 20 mL of sample. The limit of detection (LOD) obtained under optimum conditions was 3 ng L−1 and the relative standard deviation (R.S.D.) for 10 replicates at 1 μg L−1 Cd2+ concentration level was 3.5%, calculated at peak heights. The calibration graph was linear from concentration levels near the detection limits up to at least 5 μg L−1. A correlation coefficient of 0.9997 was achieved. Validation of the methodology was performed by standard addition method and analysis of certified reference material (CRM). The method was successfully applied to the determination of Cd in river and tap water samples.  相似文献

A quantitative immunochemical rapid test for sensitive determination of benzo[a]pyrene (BAP) as a model analyte was developed making use of a handheld reader for results evaluation. The covalent immobilization of antibodies to different Sepharose gels, i.e., CNBr-activated Sepharose 4B and CNBr-activated Sepharose 4 Fast Flow was compared with adsorption to a polyethylene support. The lowest limits of detection (LOD) were 4 ng L−1 and 40 ng L−1, respectively, using optimized assay conditions. The developed test was applied to food supplements (garlic, black radish and maca), including a pretreatment procedure. LOD of 9 ng kg−1 and linear range of 13-80 ng kg−1 were obtained. Results of BAP determination in naturally contaminated samples were confirmed by high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to fluorescence detection and a good correlation was achieved. We suggest that the developed test format can be used to quantitative detection of the low molecular weight analytes, such as mycotoxins, pesticides, other pollutants in food and environmental samples.  相似文献

Solid-phase extraction (SPE) followed by derivatization and gas chromatography-atomic emission detection (GC-AED) was evaluated for the determination of five chlorophenols (CPs) in water samples. The derivatization was based on the esterification of phenolic compounds with ferrocenecarboxylic acid. The determination of the derivatized phenols was performed by GC-AED in the iron selective detection mode at 302 nm. The described method was tested on spiked water samples. The overall method gave detection limits of 1.6-3.7 ng L−1 and recoveries of 90.9-104.5% for the examined mono- to trichlorophenols in 10 mL water samples. The CPs extracted from a 10 mL water sample with SPE were concentrated into 100 μL of organic solvent, a preconcentration factor of 100. The method was applied to lake and tap water samples, and CP contents between 6 and 51 ng L−1 in lake water and between below the detection limit and 8 ng L−1 in tap water were found for different CPs. The method is quick, simple and gives excellent recoveries, limits of detection and standard deviations.  相似文献

A highly efficient single-drop microextraction (SDME) procedure using a low-cost room temperature ionic liquid (RTIL), i.e., tetradecyl(trihexyl)phosphonium chloride (CYPHOS® IL 101), for Pb determination at trace levels in real water samples was developed. Lead was chelated with 2-(5-bromo-2-pyridylazo)-5-diethylaminophenol (5-Br-PADAP) reagent and extracted into a 4 μL microdrop of CYPHOS® IL 101. The RTIL drop was directly injected into the graphite furnace of the electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometer (ETAAS). Under optimal microextraction conditions, a preconcentration factor of 32 was achieved with only 1.5 mL of sample resulting in a phase-volume ratio of 375. The limit of detection (LOD) obtained was 3.2 ng L−1 and the relative standard deviation (RSD) for 10 replicates at 0.5 μg L−1 Pb2+ concentration level was 4.9%, calculated at peak heights. The calibration graph was linear from concentration levels near the detection limits up to at least 4.5 μg L−1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9996. The accuracy of the methodology was evaluated by analysis of a certified reference material (CRM). The method was successfully applied to the determination of Pb in tap, mineral, well and river water samples.  相似文献

A laser induced breakdown spectrometry hyphenated with on-line continuous flow hydride generation sample introduction system, HG-LIBS, has been used for the determination of arsenic, antimony, lead and germanium in aqueous environments. Optimum chemical and instrumental parameters governing chemical hydride generation, laser plasma formation and detection were investigated for each element under argon and nitrogen atmosphere. Arsenic, antimony and germanium have presented strong enhancement in signal strength under argon atmosphere while lead has shown no sensitivity to ambient gas type. Detection limits of 1.1 mg L−1, 1.0 mg L−1, 1.3 mg L−1 and 0.2 mg L−1 were obtained for As, Sb, Pb and Ge, respectively. Up to 77 times enhancement in detection limit of Pb were obtained, compared to the result obtained from the direct analysis of liquids by LIBS. Applicability of the technique to real water samples was tested through spiking experiments and recoveries higher than 80% were obtained. Results demonstrate that, HG-LIBS approach is suitable for quantitative analysis of toxic elements and sufficiently fast for real time continuous monitoring in aqueous environments.  相似文献

A simple and highly selective electrochemical method was developed for the single or simultaneous determination of paracetamol (N-acetyl-p-aminophenol, acetaminophen) and caffeine (3,7-dihydro-1,3,7-trimethyl-1H-purine-2,6-dione) in aqueous media (acetate buffer, pH 4.5) on a boron-doped diamond (BDD) electrode using square wave voltammetry (SWV) or differential pulse voltammetry (DPV). Using DPV with the cathodically pre-treated BDD electrode, a separation of about 550 mV between the peak oxidation potentials of paracetamol and caffeine present in binary mixtures was obtained. The calibration curves for the simultaneous determination of paracetamol and caffeine showed an excellent linear response, ranging from 5.0 × 10−7 mol L−1 to 8.3 × 10−5 mol L−1 for both compounds. The detection limits for the simultaneous determination of paracetamol and caffeine were 4.9 × 10−7 mol L−1 and 3.5 × 10−8 mol L−1, respectively. The proposed method was successfully applied in the simultaneous determination of paracetamol and caffeine in several pharmaceutical formulations (tablets), with results similar to those obtained using a high-performance liquid chromatography method (at 95% confidence level).  相似文献

This work exploits a multi-syringe injection analysis (MSFIA) system coupled with a long liquid waveguide capillary cell for the spectrophotometric determination of zinc and copper in waters. A liquid waveguide capillary cell (1.0 m pathlength, 550 μm i.d. and 250 μL internal volume) was used to enhance the sensitivity of the detection. The determination for both ions is based on a colorimetric reaction with zincon at different pH values. The developed methodology compares favourably with other previously described procedures, as it allows to reach low detection limits for both cations (LODs of 0.1 and 2 μg L−1, for copper and zinc, respectively), without the need for any pre-concentration step. The system also provided a linear response up to 100 μg L−1 with a high throughput (43 h−1) and low reagent consumption and effluent production. The developed work was applied to natural waters and three certified reference water samples.  相似文献

A simple and fast sample preparation method for the determination of nonylphenol (NP) and octylphenol (OP) in aqueous samples by simultaneous derivatization and dispersive liquid–liquid microextraction (DLLME) was investigated using gas chromatography–mass spectrometry (GC/MS). In this method, a combined dispersant/derivatization catalyst (methanol/pyridine mixture) was firstly added to an aqueous sample, following which a derivatization reagent/extraction solvent (methyl chloroformate/chloroform) was rapidly injected to combine in situ derivatization and extraction in a single step. After centrifuging, the sedimented phase containing the analytes was injected into the GC port by autosampler for analysis. Several parameters, such as extraction solvent, dispersant solvent, amount of derivatization reagent, derivatization and extraction time, pH, and ionic strength were optimized to obtain higher sensitivity for the detection of NP and OP. Under the optimized conditions, good linearity was observed in the range of 0.1–1000 μg L−1 and 0.01–100 μg L−1 with the limits of detection (LOD) of 0.03 μg L−1 and 0.002 μg L−1 for NP and OP, respectively. Water samples collected from the Pearl River were analyzed with the proposed method, the concentrations of NP and OP were found to be 2.40 ± 0.16 μg L−1 and 0.037 ± 0.001 μg L−1, respectively. The relative recoveries of the water samples spiked with different concentrations of NP and OP were in the range of 88.3–106.7%. Compared with SPME and SPE, the proposed method can be successfully applied to the rapid and convenient determination of NP and OP in aqueous samples.  相似文献

The simple and rapid preconcentration technique using cloud point extraction (CPE) was applied for the determination of As(V) and total inorganic arsenic (As(V) plus As(III)) in water samples by means of FAAS. As(V) has formed an ion-pairing complex with Pyronine B in the presence of cetyl pyridinium chloride (CPC) at pH 8.0 and extracted into the non-ionic surfactant Triton X-114, after centrifugation the surfactant-rich phase was separated and diluted with 1.0 mol L−1 HNO3 in methanol. The proposed method is very versatile and economic because it exclusively used conventional FAAS. After optimization of the CPE conditions, a preconcentration factor of 120, the detection and quantification limits of 1.67 and 5.06 μg L−1 with a correlation coefficient of 0.9978 were obtained from the calibration curve constructed in the range of 5.0-2200 μg L−1. The relative standard deviation, RSD as a measure of precision was less than 4.1% and the recoveries were in the range of 98.2-102.4%, 97.4-101.2% and 97.8-101.1% for As(V), As(III) and total As, respectively. The method was validated by the analysis of standard reference materials, TMDA-53.3 and NIST 1643e and applied to the determination of As(III) and As(V) in some real samples including natural drinking water and tap water samples with satisfactory results. The results obtained (34.70 ± 1.08 μg L−1 and 60.25 ± 1.07 μg L−1) were in good agreement with the certified values (34.20 ± 1.38 μg L−1 and 60.45 ± 1.78 μg L−1).  相似文献

This work describes an analytical procedure for vanadium determination in human hair slurries by electrothermal AAS using longitudinal heating (LHGA) and transversal heating (THGA) graphite furnace atomizers. The samples were powdered using cryogenic grinding and the hair slurries containing 0.2% (m/v) were prepared in three different media for determination of vanadium: 0.14 mol L−1 HNO3, 0.1% (v/v) Triton X-100 and 0.1% (v/v) water soluble tertiary amines (CFA-C, pH 8). The limits of detection (LOD), limits of quantification (LOQ), and characteristic masses obtained were 0.28, 0.95 μg L−1 and 35 pg (LHGA) and 0.34, 1.13 μg L−1 and 78 pg (THGA), respectively. The accuracy of the analytical results obtained by the proposed procedure in both equipments was confirmed by a paired t-test at the 95% confidence level and compared with a conventional procedure based on acid digestion.  相似文献

Solid-phase extraction (SPE) combined with liquid chromatography electrospray mass spectrometry (LC-(ESI)MS) was used to determine 16 non-ionic and anionic surfactants in different environmental water samples at ng L−1 levels. The proposed method is sensitive and simple and has good linear range and detection limits (less than 50 ng L−1) for most compound classes. The effect of ion suppression was studied in aqueous matrices from several treatment plants—including urban and industrial wastewater treatment plants (WWTPs), drinking-water treatment plants (DWTPs) and seawater desalination plants (SWDPs)—and it was considered when quantifying our samples. In addition, conventional treatments and tertiary treatments that use advanced membrane technologies, such as ultrafiltration (UF) and reverse osmosis (RO) were evaluated in order to determine their efficiency in eliminating these compounds. The concentrations of non-ionic surfactants in the raw waters studied ranged from 0.2 to 100 μg L−1. In effluents, the concentrations ranged from 0.1 to 5 μg L−1, which reflects consistent elimination. Anionic surfactants were present in all waters studied at higher levels. Levels up to 3900 μg L−1 of linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LASs) and 32,000 μg L−1 of alkyl ethoxysulfates (AESs) were detected in urban WWTP influents, while levels up to 25 μg L−1 of LASs and 114 μg L−1 of AESs were found in drinking-water and desalination treatment plants. The results indicate that conventional processes alone are not sufficient to completely remove the studied surfactants from waste streams. Tertiary treatments that use advanced membrane technologies such as UF and RO can further reduce the amount of target compounds in the effluent water.  相似文献

The present paper describes a direct procedure for the determination of catechin and epicatechin concentrations in red wines employing reverse-phase high performance liquid chromatography (RP HPLC) and detection by fluorescence. The method was performed using a sample volume of 10 µL without dilution. The separation process employed a Chromolith performance RP-18e (100 mm × 4.6 mm) column, and the mobile phase was composed of solvent A: methanol-acetic acid-water (90:8:2) and solvent B: water-acetic acid-methanol (10:2:88) at a flow rate of 1.0 mL min− 1. Linearity was observed in the range of 1 to 30 mg L− 1, with limits of detection and quantification of 0.27 and 0.89 mg L− 1, respectively, for catechin and 0.33 and 1.01 mg L− 1, respectively, for epicatechin. The precisions estimated by the relative standard deviation were 3.34 and 1.09% for catechin concentrations of 0.5 and 20 mg L− 1 respectively and 2.82 and 0.49% for epicatechin concentrations of 0.5 and 20 mg L− 1, respectively. The evaluation of the accuracy was done using an addition/recovery assay. Four wine samples were used, and the recoveries varied from 105 to 108% for catechin and from 97 to 119% for epicatechin. The method was applied to the analysis of red wine samples collected from the São Francisco region, Bahia State, Brazil. Nine samples were analyzed, and the catechin and epicatechin concentrations varied from 7.51 to 73.20 and from 5.08 to 43.32 mg L− 1, respectively. The concentrations found agree with data reported in the literature.  相似文献

An analytical method for the simultaneous determination of nine β-blockers (sotalol atenolol, nadolol, pindolol, metoprolol, timolol, bisoprolol, propanolol and betaxolol) and two analgesics (paracetamol and phenazone) in river water by liquid chromatography and diode array detection is reported. The method involves a modified precolumn switching methodology replacing the small precolumn with a short C18 liquid chromatography column (50 mm × 4.6 mm, 5 μm particle size), thus allowing the preconcentration of large water sample volumes whereas interferences eluting at the first of the chromatogram were discarded to waste. This approach allowed to preconcentrate 30 mL river water samples, modified with 0.4% MeOH, achieving univariate method detection and determination limits ranged between 0.03 and 0.16 μg L−1 and between 0.2 and 0.5 μg L−1, respectively, with precision values lower than 9.4% for spiking levels at the quantitation limits of each analyte and lower than 4.0%, except bisoprolol (8.3%), for higher spiking levels (1.0 μg L−1 of all analytes). Matrix background was reduced in three way data by a baseline correction following the Eilers methodology, whereas multivariate curve resolution and alternating least squares in combination with the standard addition calibration method, applied to these data, coped with overlapping peak, systematic (additive) and proportional (matrix effect) errors. The method was successfully applied for the determination of the target pharmaceuticals in river water from three places in a river stream with acceptable recoveries and precision values, taking into account the complexity of the analytical problem. The joint statistical test for the slope and the intercept of the linear regression between the nominal concentration values versus those predicted, showed that the region computed contained the theoretically expected values (0) for the intercept and (1) for the slope (at a confidence level of 95%), which indicates the absence of both constant and proportional errors in the predicted concentrations.  相似文献

In this work, a new stir cake sorptive extraction (SCSE) using polymeric ionic liquid monolith as sorbent was prepared. The sorbent was obtained by in situ copolymerization of an ionic liquid, 1-allyl-3-methylimidazolium bis[(trifluoro methyl)sulfonyl]imide (AMII) and divinylbenzene (DB) in the presence of N,N-dimethylformamide. The influence of the content of ionic liquid and the porogen in the polymerization mixture on extraction performance was studied thoroughly. The physicochemical properties of the polymeric ionic liquid were characterized by infrared spectroscopy, elemental analysis, scanning electron microscopy and mercury intrusion porosimetry. The usefulness of SCSE–AMIIDB was demonstrated by the enrichment of trace benzimidazole anthelmintics. Several parameters affecting the extraction efficiency were investigated, and under the optimized conditions, a simple and effective method for the determination of trace benzimidazoles residues in water, milk and honey samples was established by coupling SCSE–AMIIDB with high performance liquid chromatography/diode array detection (SCSE–AMIIDB–HPLC/DAD). Results indicated that the limits of detection (S/N = 3) for target compounds were 0.020–0.072 μg L−1, 0.035–0.10 μg L−1 and 0.026–0.076 μg L−1 in water, milk and honey samples, respectively. In addition, an acceptable reproducibility was achieved by evaluating the repeatability and intermediate precision with relative standard deviations (RSD) of less than 9% and 11%, respectively. Finally, the established AMII–SCSE–HPLC/DAD method was successfully applied for the determination of benzimidazoles residues in milk, honey and environmental water samples. Recoveries obtained for the determination of benzimidazole anthelmintics in spiking samples ranged from 70.2% to 117.6%, with RSD below 12% in all cases.  相似文献

An alternative method for gas chromatographic determination of haloacetic acids (HAAs) in water using direct derivatization followed by hollow fiber membrane liquid-phase microextraction (HF-LPME) has been developed. The method has improved the sample preparation step according to the conventional US EPA Method 552.2 by combining the derivatization and the extraction into one step prior to determination by gas chromatography electron captured detector (GC-ECD). The HAAs were derivatized with acidic methanol into their methyl esters and simultaneously extracted with supported liquid hollow fiber membrane in headspace mode. The derivatization was attempted directly in water sample without sample evaporation. The HF-LPME was performed using 1-octanol as the extracting solvent at 55 °C for 60 min with 20% Na2SO4. The linear calibration curves were observed for the concentrations ranging from 1 to 300 μg L−1 with the correlation coefficients (R2) being greater than 0.99. The method detection limits of most analytes were below 1 μg L−1 except DCAA and MCAA that were 2 and 18 μg L−1, respectively. The recoveries from spiked concentration ranged from 97 to 109% with %R.S.D. less than 12%. The method was applied for determination of HAAs in drinking water and tap water samples. The method offers an easy one step high sample throughput sample preparation for gas chromatographic determination of haloacetic acids as well as other contaminants in water.  相似文献

A laboratory-built automated instrument is reported for on-line, near real-time monitoring of nine haloacetic acids species (HAA9) in drinking water. The device uses anion-exchange chromatography to separate the HAA9 species, followed by post-column reaction with nicotinamide in basic solution with fluorescence detection. Method detection limits for HAA9 species ranged from 0.6 to 10.1 μg L−1, mean % recovery values ranged from 58 to 161%, and % relative standard deviation ranged from 3.5 to 32% while operating within a factor of 2.5-5 of the method detection limit. The bias between the proposed method and United States Environmental Protection Agency Method 552.3 was measured during two separate on-line studies and using grab samples collected from different distribution systems. In general, the two methods showed good agreement with biases for HAA9 of less than 10 μg L−1.  相似文献

A trace element preconcentration procedure is described utilizing a minicolumn of yeast (Yamadazyma spartinae) immobilized TiO2 nanoparticles for determination of Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni and Zn from water samples by inductively coupled plasma atomic emission spectrometry. The elements were quantitatively retained on the column between pH 6 and 8. Elution was made with 5% (v/v) HNO3 solution. Recoveries ranged from 98 ± 2 (Cr) to 100 ± 4 (Zn) for preconcentration of 50 mL multielement solution (50 μg L−1). The column made up of 100 mg sorbent (yeast immobilized TiO2 NP) offers a capacity to preconcentrate up to 500 mL of sample solution to achieve an enrichment factor of 250 with 2 mL of 5% (v/v) HNO3 eluent. The detection limits obtained from preconcentration of 50 mL blank solutions (5%, v/v, HNO3, n = 11) were 0.17, 0.45, 0.25, 0.15, 0.33 and 0.10 μg L−1 for Cr, Cu, Fe, Mn, Ni and Zn, respectively. Relative standard deviation (RSD) for five replicate analyses was better than 5%. The retention of the elements was not affected from up to 500 μg L−1 Na+ and K+ (as chlorides), 100 μg L−1 Ca2+ (as nitrate) and 50 μg L−1 Mg2+ (as sulfate). The method was validated by analysis of freshwater standard reference material (SRM 1643e) and applied to the determination of the elements from tap water and lake water samples.  相似文献
