We report a new approach to create metal‐binding site in a series of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), where tetratopic carboxylate linker, 4′,4′′,4′′′,4′′′′‐methanetetrayltetrabiphenyl‐4‐carboxylic acid, is partially replaced by a tritopic carboxylate linker, tris(4‐carboxybiphenyl)amine, in combination with monotopic linkers, formic acid, trifluoroacetic acid, benzoic acid, isonicotinic acid, 4‐chlorobenzoic acid, and 4‐nitrobenzoic acid, respectively. The distance between these paired‐up linkers can be precisely controlled, ranging from 5.4 to 10.8 Å, where a variety of metals, Mg2+, Al3+, Cr3+, Mn2+, Fe3+, Co2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Zn2+, Ag+, Cd2+ and Pb2+, can be placed in. The distribution of these metal‐binding sites across a single crystal is visualized by 3D tomography of laser scanning confocal microscopy with a resolution of 10 nm. The binding affinity between the metal and its binding‐site in MOF can be varied in a large range (observed binding constants, Kobs from 1.56×102 to 1.70×104 L mol?1), in aqueous solution. The fluorescence of these crystals can be used to detect biomarkers, such as cysteine, homocysteine and glutathione, with ultrahigh sensitivity and without the interference of urine, through the dissociation of metal ions from their binding sites.  相似文献

Linker desymmetrization has been witnessed as a powerful design strategy for the discovery of highly connected metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) with unprecedented topologies. Herein, we introduce molecular pivot‐hinge installation as a linker desymmetrization strategy to evolve the topology of highly connected rare‐earth (RE) MOFs, where a pivot group is placed in the center of a linker similar to a hinge. By tuning the composition of pivot groups and steric hindrances of the substituents on various linker rotamers, MOFs with various topologies can be obtained. The combination of L‐SO2 with C2v symmetry and 12‐connected RE9 clusters leads to the formation of a fascinating (4,12)‐c dfs new topology. Interestingly, when replacing L‐SO2 with a tetrahedra linker L‐O, the stacking behaviors of RE‐organic layers switch from an eclipsed mode to a staggered stacking mode, leading to the discovery of an intriguing hjz topology. Additionally, the combination of the RE cluster and a linker [(L‐(CH3)6)] with more bulky groups gives rise to a flu topology with a new 8‐c inorganic cluster. The diversity of these RE‐MOFs was further enhanced through post‐synthetic installation of linkers with various functional groups. Functionalization of each linker with acidic and basic units in the mesoporous RE‐based PCN‐905‐SO2 allows for efficient cascade catalytic transformation within the functionalized channels.  相似文献

Intriguing properties and functions are expected to implant into metal–organic layers (MOLs) to achieve tailored pore environments and multiple functionalities owing to the synergies among multiple components. Herein, we demonstrate a facile one‐pot synthetic strategy to incorporate multiple functionalities into stable zirconium MOLs via secondary ligand pillaring. Through the combination of Zr6‐BTB (BTB=benzene‐1,3,5‐tribenzoate) layers and diverse secondary ligands (including ditopic and tetratopic linkers), 31 MOFs with multi‐functionalities were systematically prepared. Notably, a metal–phthalocyanine fragment was successfully incorporated into this Zr‐MOL system, giving rise to an ideal platform for the selective oxidation of anthracene. The organic functionalization of two‐dimensional MOLs can generate tunable porous structures and environments, which may facilitate the excellent catalytic performance of as‐synthesized materials.  相似文献

Flexible metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are highly desirable in host–guest chemistry owing to their almost unlimited structural/functional diversities and stimuli‐responsive pore architectures. Herein, we designed a flexible Zr‐MOF system, namely PCN‐700 series, for the realization of switchable catalysis in cycloaddition reactions of CO2 with epoxides. Their breathing behaviors were studied by successive single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analyses. The breathing amplitudes of the PCN‐700 series were modulated through pre‐functionalization of organic linkers and post‐synthetic linker installation. Experiments and molecular simulations confirm that the catalytic activities of the PCN‐700 series can be switched on and off upon reversible structural transformation, which is reminiscent of sophisticated biological systems such as allosteric enzymes.  相似文献

We transformed the hydrophilic metal–organic framework (MOF) UiO‐67 into hydrophobic UiO‐67‐R s (R=alkyl) by introducing alkyl chains into organic linkers, which not only protected hydrophilic Zr6O8 clusters to make the MOF interspace superoleophilic, but also led to a rough crystal surface beneficial for superhydrophobicity. The UiO‐67‐R s displayed high acid, base, and water stability, and long alkyl chains offered better hydrophobicity. Good hydrophobicity/oleophilicity were also possible with mixed‐ligand MOFs containing metal‐binding ligands. Thus, a (super)hydrophobic MOF catalyst loaded with Pd centers efficiently catalyzed Sonogashira reactions in water at ambient temperature. Studies of the hydrophobic effects of the coordination interspace and the outer surface suggest a simple de novo strategy for the synthesis of superhydrophobic MOFs that combine surface roughness and low surface energy. Such MOFs have potential for environmentally friendly catalysis and water purification.  相似文献

The secondary building units in metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are commonly well‐defined metal–oxo clusters or chains with very limited structural strain. Herein, the structurally deformable haloplumbate units that are often observed in organolead halide perovskites have been successfully incorporated into MOFs. The resultant materials are a rare class of isoreticular MOFs exhibiting large Stokes‐shifted broadband white‐light emission, which is probably induced by self‐trapped excitons from electron–phonon coupling in the deformable, zigzag [Pb2X3]+ (X=Cl, Br, or I) chains. In contrast, MOFs with highly symmetric, robust haloplumbate chains only exhibit narrow UV–blue photoemission. The designed MOF‐based intrinsic white‐light photoemitters have a number of advantages over hybrid inorganic–organic perovskites in terms of stability and tunability, including moisture resistance, facile functionalization of photoactive moieties onto the organic linkers, introduction of luminescent guests.  相似文献

Metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) are crystalline porous materials formed from bi‐ or multipodal organic linkers and transition‐metal nodes. Some MOFs have high structural stability, combined with large flexibility in design and post‐synthetic modification. MOFs can be photoresponsive through light absorption by the organic linker or the metal oxide nodes. Photoexcitation of the light absorbing units in MOFs often generates a ligand‐to‐metal charge‐separation state that can result in photocatalytic activity. In this Review we discuss the advantages and uniqueness that MOFs offer in photocatalysis. We present the best practices to determine photocatalytic activity in MOFs and for the deposition of co‐catalysts. In particular we give examples showing the photocatalytic activity of MOFs in H2 evolution, CO2 reduction, photooxygenation, and photoreduction.  相似文献

A new tetracarboxylate ligand having short and long arms formed 2D layer ZnII coordination polymer 1 with paddle‐wheel secondary building units under solvothermal conditions. The framework undergoes solvent‐specific single crystal‐to‐single crystal (SC‐SC) transmetalation to produce 1Cu . With a sterically encumbered dipyridyl linker, the same ligand forms non‐interpenetrated, 3D, pillared‐layer ZnII metal–organic framework (MOF) 2 , which takes part in SC‐SC linker‐exchange reactions to produce three daughter frameworks. The parent MOF 2 shows preferential incorporation of the longest linker in competitive linker‐exchange experiments. All the 3D MOFs undergo complete SC‐SC transmetalation with CuII, whereby metal exchange in different solvents and monitoring of X‐ray structures revealed that bulky solvated metal ions lead to ordering of the shortest linker in the framework, which confirms that the solvated metal ions enter through the pores along the linker axis.  相似文献

In this work, we have demonstrated a family of diamondoid metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) based on functionalized molecular building blocks and length‐adjustable organic linkers by using a stepwise synthesis strategy. We have successfully achieved not only “design” and “control” to synthesize MOFs, but also the functionalization of both secondary building units (SBUs) and organic linkers in the same MOF for the first time. Furthermore, the results of N2 and H2 adsorption show that their surface areas and hydrogen uptake capacities are determined by the most optimal combination of functional groups from SBUs and organic linkers, interpenetration, and free volume in this system. A member of this series, DMOF‐6 exhibits the highest surface area and H2 adsorption capacity among this family of MOFs.  相似文献

Whilst many metal–organic frameworks possess the chemical stability needed to be used as functional materials, they often lack the physical strength required for industrial applications. Herein, we have investigated the mechanical properties of two UiO‐topology Zr‐MOFs, the planar UiO‐67 ([Zr6O4(OH)4(bpdc)6], bpdc: 4,4′‐biphenyl dicarboxylate) and UiO‐abdc ([Zr6O4(OH)4(abdc)6], abdc: 4,4′‐azobenzene dicarboxylate) by single‐crystal nanoindentation, high‐pressure X‐ray diffraction, density functional theory calculations, and first‐principles molecular dynamics. On increasing pressure, both UiO‐67 and UiO‐abdc were found to be incompressible when filled with methanol molecules within a diamond anvil cell. Stabilization in both cases is attributed to dynamical linker disorder. The diazo‐linker of UiO‐abdc possesses local site disorder, which, in conjunction with its longer nature, also decreases the capacity of the framework to compress and stabilizes it against direct compression, compared to UiO‐67, characterized by a large elastic modulus. The use of non‐linear linkers in the synthesis of UiO‐MOFs therefore creates MOFs that have more rigid mechanical properties over a larger pressure range.  相似文献

Heterometallic metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) allow the precise placement of various metals at atomic precision within a porous framework. This new level of control by MOFs promises fascinating advances in basic science and application. However, the rational design and synthesis of heterometallic MOFs remains a challenge due to the complexity of the heterometallic systems. Herein, we show that bimetallic MOFs with MX2(INA)4 moieties (INA=isonicotinate; M=Co2+ or Fe2+; X=OH?, Cl?, Br?, I?, NCS?, or NCSe?) can be generated by the sequential modification of a Zr‐based MOF. This multi‐step modification not only replaced the linear organic linker with a square planar MX2(INA)4 unit, but also altered the symmetry, unit cell, and topology of the parent structure. Single‐crystal to single‐crystal transformation is realized so that snapshots for transition process were captured by successive single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Furthermore, the installation of Co(NCS)2(INA)4 endows field‐induced slow magnetic relaxation property to the diamagnetic Zr‐MOF.  相似文献

A new family of porous metal–organic frameworks (MOFs), namely alkali phosphonate MOFs, is reported. [Na2Cu(H4TPPA)] ⋅ (NH2(CH3)2)2 ( GTUB-1 ) was synthesized using the tetratopic 5,10,15,20-tetrakis[p-phenylphosphonic acid] porphyrin ( H8-TPPA ) linker with planar X-shaped geometrical core. GTUB-1 is composed of rectangular void channels with BET surface area of 697 m2 g−1. GTUB-1 exhibits exceptional thermal stability. The toxicity analysis of the ( H8-TPPA ) linker indicates that it is well tolerated by an intestinal cell line, suggesting its suitability for creating phosphonate MOFs for biological applications.  相似文献

The construction of highly stable metal–porphyrinic frameworks (MPFs) is appealing as these materials offer great opportunities for applications in artificial light‐harvesting systems, gas storage, heterogeneous catalysis, etc. Herein, we report the synthesis of a novel mesoporous metal–porphyrinic framework (denoted as NUPF‐1) and its catalytic properties. NUPF‐1 is constructed from a new porphyrin linker and a Zr6O8 structural building unit, possessing an unprecedented doubly interpenetrating scu net. The structure exhibits not only remarkable chemical and thermal stabilities, but also a distinct structural flexibility, which is seldom seen in metal–organic framework (MOF) materials. By the merit of high chemical stability, NUPF‐1 could be easily post‐metallized with [Ru3(CO)12], and the resulting {NUPF‐1–RuCO} is catalytically active as a heterogeneous catalyst for intermolecular C(sp3)?H amination. Excellent yields and good recyclability for amination of small substrates with various organic azides have been achieved.  相似文献

It remains highly desired but a great challenge to achieve atomically dispersed metals in high loadings for efficient catalysis. Now porphyrinic metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been synthesized based on a novel mixed‐ligand strategy to afford high‐content (1.76 wt %) single‐atom (SA) iron‐implanted N‐doped porous carbon (FeSA‐N‐C) via pyrolysis. Thanks to the single‐atom Fe sites, hierarchical pores, oriented mesochannels and high conductivity, the optimized FeSA‐N‐C exhibits excellent oxygen reduction activity and stability, surpassing almost all non‐noble‐metal catalysts and state‐of‐the‐art Pt/C, in both alkaline and more challenging acidic media. More far‐reaching, this MOF‐based mixed‐ligand strategy opens a novel avenue to the precise fabrication of efficient single‐atom catalysts.  相似文献

MOFs (metal‐organic frameworks) have developed into an important class of materials. This is due to their potential application in the fields of catalysis, gas storage, nanoreactors, or drug release. MOFs are comprised of isolated metal ions or metal‐oxygen clusters, chains or layers, which are connected via organic linkers to form three‐dimensional frameworks of outstanding porosity. Owing to their modular assembly, the pores of MOFs can be tailored using functionalized linkers, following the principle of reticular chemistry.  相似文献

A tetra(carboxylated) PCP pincer ligand has been synthesized as a building block for porous coordination polymers (PCPs). The air‐ and moisture‐stable PCP metalloligands are rigid tetratopic linkers that are geometrically akin to ligands used in the synthesis of robust metal–organic frameworks (MOFs). Here, the design principle is demonstrated by cyclometalation with PdIICl and subsequent use of the metalloligand to prepare a crystalline 3D MOF by direct reaction with CoII ions and structural resolution by single crystal X‐ray diffraction. The Pd?Cl groups inside the pores are accessible to post‐synthetic modifications that facilitate chemical reactions previously unobserved in MOFs: a Pd?CH3 activated material undergoes rapid insertion of CO2 gas to give Pd?OC(O)CH3 at 1 atm and 298 K. However, since the material is highly selective for the adsorption of CO2 over CO, a Pd?N3 modified version resists CO insertion under the same conditions.  相似文献

Given the unique structural and electronic properties of C60, metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) containing C60 linkers are expected to exhibit interesting characteristics. A new hexakisfullerene derivative possessing two pairs of phenyl pyridine groups attached to two methano‐carbon atoms located at the trans‐1 positions was designed and synthesized. The four pyridyl nitrogen atoms define a perfectly planar rectangle. This new C60 derivative was used to assemble the first fullerene‐linked two‐dimensional MOF by coordination with Cd2+.  相似文献

Theoretical investigations of CO2 sorption are performed in four members of the highly tunable rht‐metal–organic framework (MOF) platform. rht‐MOFs contain two Cu2+ ions that comprise the metal paddlewheels and both are in chemically distinct environments. Indeed, one type of Cu2+ ion faces toward the center of the linker whereas the other type faces away from the center of the linker. Electronic structure calculations on the series of rht‐MOFs demonstrate that one of the Cu2+ ions has a consistently higher charge magnitude relative to the other. As a consequence, the Cu2+ ion with the higher partial positive charge acts as the favored sorbate binding site at initial loading as revealed by grand canonical Monte Carlo (GCMC) simulations that include many‐body polarization. It was found that the charge distribution about the copper paddlewheels is dependent on the type of functional groups present on the linker. This study demonstrates how the binding site about the metal paddlewheels in the rht‐MOF platform can be controlled by changing the functionality on the organic ligand.  相似文献
