Two‐dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) provide a unique platform for the molecular design of electronic and optoelectronic materials. Here, the synthesis and characterization of an electroactive COF containing the well‐known tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) unit is reported. The TTF‐COF crystallizes into 2D sheets with an eclipsed AA stacking motif, and shows high thermal stability and permanent porosity. The presence of TTF units endows the TTF‐COF with electron‐donating ability, which is characterized by cyclic voltammetry. In addition, the open frameworks of TTF‐COF are amenable to doping with electron acceptors (e.g., iodine), and the conductivity of TTF‐COF bulk samples can be improved by doping. Our results open up a reliable route for the preparation of well‐ordered conjugated TTF polymers, which hold great potential for applications in fields from molecular electronics to energy storage.  相似文献

Hybrid 2D–2D materials composed of perpendicularly oriented covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and graphene were prepared and tested for energy storage applications. Diboronic acid molecules covalently attached to graphene oxide (GO) were used as nucleation sites for directing vertical growth of COF‐1 nanosheets (v‐COF‐GO). The hybrid material has a forest of COF‐1 nanosheets with a thickness of 3 to 15 nm in edge‐on orientation relative to GO. The reaction performed without molecular pillars resulted in uncontrollable growth of thick COF‐1 platelets parallel to the surface of GO. The v‐COF‐GO was converted into a conductive carbon material preserving the nanostructure of precursor with ultrathin porous carbon nanosheets grafted to graphene in edge‐on orientation. It was demonstrated as a high‐performance electrode material for supercapacitors. The molecular pillar approach can be used for preparation of many other 2D‐2D materials with control of their relative orientation.  相似文献

A highly‐ordered 3D covalent fullerene framework is presented with a structure based on octahedrally functionalized fullerene building blocks in which every fullerene is separated from the next by six functional groups and whose mesoporosity is controlled by cooperative self‐assembly with a liquid‐crystalline block copolymer. The new fullerene‐framework material was obtained in the form of supported films by spin coating the synthesis solution directly on glass or silicon substrates, followed by a heat treatment. The fullerene building blocks coassemble with a liquid‐crystalline block copolymer to produce a highly ordered covalent fullerene framework with orthorhombic Fmmm symmetry, accessible 7.5 nm pores, and high surface area, as revealed by gas adsorption, NMR spectroscopy, small‐angle X‐ray scattering (SAXS), and TEM. We also note that the 3D covalent fullerene framework exhibits a dielectric constant significantly lower than that of the nonporous precursor material.  相似文献

The combination of 2D materials opens a wide range of possibilities to create new-generation structures with multiple applications. Covalently cross-linked approaches are a ground-breaking strategy for the formation of homo or heterostructures made by design. However, the covalent assembly of transition metal dichalcogenides flakes is relatively underexplored. Here, a simple covalent cross-linking method to build 2H-MoS2–MoS2 homostructures is described, using commercially available bismaleimides. These assemblies are mainly connected vertically, basal plane to basal plane, creating specific molecular sized spaces between MoS2 sheets. Therefore, this straightforward approach gives access to the controlled connection of sulfide-based 2D materials.  相似文献

The construction of a new class of covalent TTF lattice by integrating TTF units into two‐dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) is reported. We explored a general strategy based on the C2+C2 topological diagram and applied to the synthesis of microporous and mesoporous TTF COFs. Structural resolutions revealed that both COFs consist of layered lattices with periodic TTF columns and tetragonal open nanochannels. The TTF columns offer predesigned pathways for high‐rate hole transport, predominate the HOMO and LUMO levels of the COFs, and are redox active to form organic salts that exhibit enhanced electric conductivity by several orders of magnitude. On the other hand, the linkers between the TTF units play a vital role in determining the carrier mobility and conductivity through the perturbation of 2D sheet conformation and interlayer distance. These results open a way towards designing a new type of TTF materials with stable and predesignable lattice structures for functional exploration.  相似文献

Featuring the art of covalent chemistry on 2D and 3D with molecular precision, covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have attracted immense interests from inorganic, organic, polymer, materials and energy chemistry. However, due to the synthetic challenge of “crystallization problem”, structural determination of COFs has been the bottle‐neck in speeding up their discovery and design, as well as building up their structure‐ property relation. Electron diffraction tomography (EDT) has been developed to determine crystal structures of COFs with only sub‐micrometer sized single crystals, which enabled the ab initio determination of crystal structure, molecular connectivity, pore metrics, and host‐guest interaction at the atomic level. In this review, we summarized the recent developments of EDT for addressing challenges in structure determinations of such e‐beam sensitive, organic porous crystals, covering comprehensively automatic data collection, low dose, cryogenic protocols, structural solution method, powder X‐ray diffraction refinement, and high‐resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) imaging techniques. We do believe the EDT will propel this field into the new era of COF chemistry with atomic precision, and we envision the wide application of artificial intelligence will promote the structural determination and particle analysis of COFs and related materials.  相似文献

The design and synthesis of 3D covalent organic frameworks (COFs) have been considered a challenge, and the demonstrated applications of 3D COFs have so far been limited to gas adsorption. Herein we describe the design and synthesis of two new 3D microporous base‐functionalized COFs, termed BF‐COF‐1 and BF‐COF‐2, by the use of a tetrahedral alkyl amine, 1,3,5,7‐tetraaminoadamantane (TAA), combined with 1,3,5‐triformylbenzene (TFB) or triformylphloroglucinol (TFP). As catalysts, both BF‐COFs showed remarkable conversion (96 % for BF‐COF‐1 and 98 % for BF‐COF‐2), high size selectivity, and good recyclability in base‐catalyzed Knoevenagel condensation reactions. This study suggests that porous functionalized 3D COFs could be a promising new class of shape‐selective catalysts.  相似文献

The design of smart nonviral vectors for gene delivery is of prime importance for the successful implementation of gene therapies. In particular, degradable analogues of macromolecules represent promising targets as they would combine the multivalent presentation of multiple binding units that is necessary for achieving effective complexation of therapeutic oligonucleotides with the controlled degradation of the vector that would in turn trigger drug release. Toward this end, we have designed and synthesized hybrid polyacylhydrazone‐based dynamic materials that combine bis‐functionalized cationic monomers with ethylene oxide containing monomers. Polymer formation was characterized by 1H and DOSY NMR spectroscopy and was found to take place at high concentration, whereas macrocycles were predominantly formed at low concentration. HPLC monitoring of solutions of these materials in aqueous buffers at pH values ranging from 5.0 to 7.0 revealed their acid‐catalyzed degradation. An ethidium bromide displacement assay and gel electrophoresis clearly demonstrated that, despite being dynamic, these materials are capable of effectively complexing dsDNA in aqueous buffer and biological serum at N/P ratios comparable to polyethyleneimine polymers. The self‐assembly of dynamic covalent polymers through the incorporation of a reversible covalent bond within their main chain is therefore a promising strategy for generating degradable materials that are capable of establishing multivalent interactions and effectively complexing dsDNA in biological media.  相似文献

The electrochromic materials have received immense attention for the fabrication of smart optoelectronic devices. The alteration of the redox states of the electroactive functionalities results in the color change in response to electrochemical potential. Even though transition metal oxides, redox-active small organic molecules, conducting polymers, and metallopolymers are known for electrochromism, advanced materials demonstrating multicolor switching with fast response time and high durability are of increasing demand. Recently, two-dimensional covalent organic frameworks (2D COFs) have been demonstrated as electrochromic materials due to their tunable redox functionalities with highly ordered structure and large specific surface area facilitating fast ion transport. Herein, we have discussed the mechanistic insights of electrochromism in 2D COFs and their structure-property relationship in electrochromic performance. Furthermore, the state-of-the-art knowledge for developing the electrochromic 2D COFs and their potential application in next-generation display devices are highlighted.  相似文献

Ordered π‐columnar structures found in covalent organic frameworks (COFs) render them attractive as smart materials. However, external‐stimuli‐responsive COFs have not been explored. Here we report the design and synthesis of a photoresponsive COF with anthracene units as the photoresponsive π‐building blocks. The COF is switchable upon photoirradiation to yield a concavo‐convex polygon skeleton through the interlayer [4π+4π] cycloaddition of anthracene units stacked in the π‐columns. This cycloaddition reaction is thermally reversible; heating resets the anthracene layers and regenerates the COF. These external‐stimuli‐induced structural transformations are accompanied by profound changes in properties, including gas adsorption, π‐electronic function, and luminescence. The results suggest that COFs are useful for designing smart porous materials with properties that are controllable by external stimuli.  相似文献

Water‐soluble three‐dimensional (3D) polymers are structurally ideal for the construction of ordered porous materials for in‐situ and tunable loading and release of guests. For many years, studies on ordered porous materials have been confined to crystalline solids. Since 2014, self‐assembly has been developed as a robust strategy for the preparation of water‐soluble 3D polymers that possess defined and intrinsic porosity. Through the encapsulation of cucurbit[8]uril for aromatic dimers, ordered diamondoid supramolecular organic frameworks can be assembled from tetrahedral monomers. With [Ru(bipy)3]2+‐derived octahedral complexes as precursors, cubic supramolecular metal‐organic frameworks have been assembled. One supramolecular organic framework has also been utilized to prepare the first homogeneous covalent organic framework through the [2+2] alkene cycloaddition, whereas the quantitative formation of the hydrazone bonds can be utilized to synthesize flexible porous organic frameworks. The new water‐soluble ordered and flexible polymeric frameworks are able to include drugs and biomacromolecules to accomplish in situ loading and intracellular delivery and to enrich photosensitizers and catalysts to enhance discrete visible light‐induced reactions. This review highlights the advances.  相似文献

Chemical reactions are classically controlled by the judicious choice of functional groups as well as external factors such as temperature and catalysts. However, the use of light‐induced reactions not only offers precise temporal and spatial control, but critically allows highly specific reaction channels to be selectively addressed through wavelength and intensity, thereby enabling targeted covalent bonds to be made and broken. Photoreversible cycloadditions are the most promising candidates to seize the outlined potential upon selective cyclization and cycloreversion, but are today still far from fulfilling these expectations. The current Minireview critically explores the current challenges in the application of photoreversible cycloadditions and discusses the steps necessary to realize their potential in molecular biology, biomimetic systems, 3D laser lithographic processes, and advanced soft matter materials with reprogrammable and self‐healing properties.  相似文献

Layered double hydroxides (LDHs) are a class of 2D anionic materials exhibiting wide chemical versatility and promising applications in different fields, ranging from catalysis to energy storage and conversion. However, the covalent chemistry of this kind of 2D materials is still barely explored. Herein, the covalent functionalization with silanes of a magnetic NiFe-LDH is reported. The synthetic route consists of a topochemical approach followed by anion exchange reaction with surfactant molecules prior to covalent functionalization with the (3-aminopropyl)triethoxysilane (APTES) molecules. The functionalized NiFe-APTES was fully characterized by X-ray diffraction, infrared spectroscopy, electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis coupled with mass spectrometry and 29Si solid-state nuclear magnetic resonance, among others. The effect on the electronic properties of the functionalized LDH was investigated by a magnetic study in combination with Mössbauer spectroscopy. Moreover, the reversibility of the silane-functionalization at basic pH was demonstrated, and the quality of the resulting LDH was proven by studying the electrochemical performance in the oxygen evolution reaction in basic media. Furthermore, the anion exchange capability for the NiFe-APTES was tested employing CrVI, resulting in an increase of 200 % of the anion retention. This report allows for a new degree of tunability of LDHs, opening the door to the synthesis of new hybrid architectures and materials.  相似文献

Porous organic materials are an emerging class of functional nanostructures with unprecedented properties. Dynamic covalent assembly of small organic building blocks under thermodynamic control is utilized for the intriguingly simple formation of complex molecular architectures in one‐pot procedures. In this Review, we aim to analyze the basic design principles that govern the formation of either covalent organic frameworks as crystalline porous polymers or covalent organic cage compounds as shape‐persistent molecular objects. Common synthetic procedures and characterization techniques will be discussed as well as more advanced strategies such as postsynthetic modification or self‐sorting. When appropriate, comparisons are drawn between polymeric frameworks and discrete organic cages in terms of their underlying properties. Furthermore, we highlight the potential of these materials for applications ranging from gas storage to catalysis and organic electronics.  相似文献

Layered covalent organic frameworks (2D‐COFs), composed of reversible imine linkages and accessible pores, offer versatility for chemical modifications towards the development of catalytic materials. Nitrogen‐enriched COFs are good candidates for binding Pd species. Understanding the local structure of reacting Pd sites bonded to the COF pores is key to rationalize interactions between active sites and porous surfaces. By combining advanced synchrotron characterization methods with periodic computational DFT modeling, the precise atomic structure of catalytic Pd sites attached to local defects is resolved within an archetypical imine‐linked 2D‐COF. This material was synthesized using an in situ method as a gel, under which imine hydrolysis and metalation reactions are coupled. Local defects formed in situ within imine‐linked 2D‐COF materials are highly reactive towards Pd metalation, resulting in active materials for Suzuki–Miyaura cross‐coupling reactions.  相似文献

Most air-stable 2D materials are relatively inert, which makes their chemical modification difficult. In particular, in the case of MoS2, the semiconducting 2 H-MoS2 is much less reactive than its metallic counterpart, 1T-MoS2. As a consequence, there are hardly any reliable methods for the covalent modification of 2 H-MoS2. An ideal method for the chemical functionalization of such materials should be both mild, not requiring the introduction of a large number of defects, and versatile, allowing for the decoration with as many different functional groups as possible. Herein, a comprehensive study on the covalent functionalization of 2 H-MoS2 with maleimides is presented. The use of a base (Et3N) leads to the in situ formation of a succinimide polymer layer, covalently connected to MoS2. In contrast, in the absence of base, functionalization stops at the molecular level. Moreover, the functionalization protocol is mild (occurs at room temperature), fast (nearly complete in 1 h), and very flexible (11 different solvents and 10 different maleimides tested). In practical terms, the procedures described here allow for the chemist to manipulate 2 H-MoS2 in a very flexible way, decorating it with polymers or molecules, and with a wide range of functional groups for subsequent modification. Conceptually, the spurious formation of an organic polymer might be general to other methods of functionalization of 2D materials, where a large excess of molecular reagents is typically used.  相似文献

Designing structural order in electronically active organic solids remains a great challenge in the field of materials chemistry. Now, 2D poly(arylene vinylene)s prepared as highly crystalline covalent organic frameworks (COFs) by base‐catalyzed aldol condensation of trimethyltriazine with aromatic dialdehydes are reported. The synthesized polymers are highly emissive (quantum yield of up to 50 %), as commonly observed in their 1D analogues poly(phenylene vinylene)s. The inherent well‐defined porosity (surface area ca. 1000 m2 g?1, pore diameter ca. 11 Å for the terephthaldehyde derived COF‐1) and 2D structure of these COFs also present a new set of properties and are likely responsible for the emission color, which is sensitive to the environment. COF‐1 is highly hydrophilic and reveals a dramatic macroscopic structural reorganization that has not been previously observed in framework materials.  相似文献

Herein, we reported the designed synthesis of three isostructural three‐dimensional covalent organic frameworks (3D COFs) with ‐H, ‐Me, or ‐F substituents, which have similar crystallinity and topology. Their crystal structures were determined by continuous rotation electron diffraction (cRED), and all three 3D COFs were found to adopt a fivefold interpenetrated pts topology. More importantly, the resolution of these cRED datasets reached up to 0.9–1.0 Å, enabling the localization of all non‐hydrogen atomic positions in a COF framework directly by 3D ED techniques for the first time. In addition, the precise control of the pore environments through the use of different functional groups led to different selectivities for CO2 over N2. We have thus confirmed that polycrystalline COFs can be definitely studied to the atomic level as other materials, and this study should also inspire the design and synthesis of 3D COFs with tailored pore environments for interesting applications.  相似文献

Within the last two decades, dynamic covalent chemistry (DCC) has emerged as an efficient and versatile strategy for the design and synthesis of complex molecular systems in solution. While early examples of supramolecularly assisted covalent synthesis at surfaces relied strongly on kinetically controlled reactions for post‐assembly covalent modification, the DCC method takes advantage of the reversible nature of bond formation and allows the generation of the new covalently bonded structures under thermodynamic control. These structurally complex architectures obtained by means of DCC protocols offer a wealth of solutions and opportunities in the generation of new complex materials that possess sophisticated properties. In this focus review we examine the formation of covalently bonded imine‐based discrete nanostructures as well as one‐dimensional (1D) polymers and two‐dimensional (2D) covalent organic frameworks (COFs) physisorbed on solid substrates under various experimental conditions, for example, under ultra‐high vacuum (UHV) or at the solid–liquid interface. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) was used to gain insight, with a sub‐nanometer resolution, into the structure and properties of those complex nanopatterns.  相似文献

The ground‐ and excited‐state properties of benzene‐linked bisphenalenyl (B‐LBP), naphthaline‐linked bisphenalenyl (N‐LBP), and anthracene‐linked bisphenalenyl (A‐LBP) Kekulé molecules and their respective one‐dimensional (1D) stacks are investigated using time‐dependent density functional theory (TD‐DFT) and a range of extensive multidimensional visualization techniques. The results reveal a covalent π–π bonding interaction between overlapping phenalenyl radicals whose bond length is shorter than the van der Waals distance between carbon atoms. Increasing the linker length and/or number of molecules involved in the 1D stack decreases the HOMO–LUMO energy gap and increases the wavelength of the systems. The charge‐transfer mechanism and electron coherence both differ with changes in the linker length and/or number of molecules involved in the 1D stack.  相似文献
