A set of analytical potential energy surfaces (PESs) for six singlet excited states of NOCl are constructed based on multireference configuration interaction calculations. The total absorption cross section at the energy range of 2-7 eV is calculated by quantum dynamics calculations with the present PESs and transition dipole moments. The calculated absorption spectrum agrees well with the experiment. It is also found that the A band with the absorption maximum at 6.3 eV is attributed to the transition to the 4 1A' state, though the excitations to the 3 1A' and 3 1A" states contribute to the spectrum at the energy range between 4 and 5 eV. The spin-forbidden transitions are concluded to be negligibly weak. The mechanism of photodissociation reaction at the energy region corresponding to the A band is examined. The nonadiabatic transition rates from the 4 1A' state to lower singlet and triplet states are estimated by Fermi's golden rule, and the transitions to the 1 1A' and 3 1A' states induced by vibronic coupling are found to be the predominant dissociation pathways. The experimentally observed energy dependence of the recoil anisotropy of the fragments is discussed based on the calculated nonadiabatic transition rates.  相似文献

The singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces (PESs) for the gas-phase bimolecular self-reaction of HOO*, a key reaction in atmospheric environments, have been investigated by means of quantum-mechanical electronic structure methods (CASSCF and CASPT2). All the reaction pathways on both PESs consist of a first step involving the barrierless formation of a prereactive doubly hydrogen-bonded complex, which is a diradical species lying about 8 kcal/mol below the energy of the reactants at 0 K. The lowest energy reaction pathway on both PESs is the degenerate double hydrogen exchange between the HOO* moieties of the prereactive complex via a double proton transfer mechanism involving an energy barrier of only 1.1 kcal/mol for the singlet and 3.3 kcal/mol for the triplet at 0 K. The single H-atom transfer between the two HOO* moieties of the prereactive complex (yielding HOOH + O2) through a pathway keeping a planar arrangement of the six atoms involves a conical intersection between either two singlet or two triplet states of A' and A" symmetries. Thus, the lowest energy reaction pathway occurs via a nonplanar cisoid transition structure with an energy barrier of 5.8 kcal/mol for the triplet and 17.5 kcal/mol for the singlet at 0 K. The simple addition between the terminal oxygen atoms of the two HOO* moieties of the prereactive complex, leading to the straight chain H2O4 intermediate on the singlet PES, involves an energy barrier of 7.3 kcal/mol at 0 K. Because the decomposition of such an intermediate into HOOH + O2 entails an energy barrier of 45.2 kcal/mol at 0 K, it is concluded that the single H-atom transfer on the triplet PES is the dominant pathway leading to HOOH + O2. Finally, the strong negative temperature dependence of the rate constant observed for this reaction is attributed to the reversible formation of the prereactive complex in the entrance channel rather than to a short-lived tetraoxide intermediate.  相似文献

The non-relativistic and relativistic potential energy surfaces (PESs) of the symmetric and asymmetric reaction paths of Si(100)-2×1 oxidations by atomic oxygen were theoretically explored. Although only the singlet PES turned out to exist as a major channel leading to "on-dimer" product, both the singlet and triplet PESs leading to "on-top" products are attractive. The singlet PESs leading to the two surface products were found to be the singlet combinations (open-shell singlet) of the low-lying triplet state of surface silicon dimer and the ground (3)P state of atomic oxygen. The triplet state of the "on-top" product can also be formed by the ground singlet state of the surface silicon dimer and the same (3)P oxygen. The attractive singlet PESs leading to the "on-dimer" and "on-top" products made neither the intersystem crossings from triplet to singlet PES nor high energy (1)D of atomic oxygen necessary. Rather, the low-lying triplet state of surface silicon dimer plays an important role in the initial oxidations of silicon surface.  相似文献

To investigate the possibility of the carbyne radical CCN in removal of nitric oxide, a detailed computational study is performed at the Gaussian-3//B3LYP/6-31G(d) level on the CCN + NO reaction by constructing the singlet and triplet electronic state [C(2)N(2)O] potential energy surfaces (PESs). The barrierless formation of the chain-like isomers NCCNO (singlet at -106.5, triplet cis at -48.2 and triplet trans at -47.6 kcal/mol) is the most favorable entrance attack on both singlet and triplet PESs. Subsequently, the singlet NCCNO takes an O-transfer to form the branched intermediate singlet NCC(O)N (-85.6), which can lead to the fragments CN + NCO (-51.2) via the intermediate singlet NCOCN (-120.3). The simpler evolution of the triplet NCCNO is the direct N-O rupture to form the weakly bound complex triplet NCCN...O (-56.2) before the final fragmentation to NCCN + (3)O (-53.5). However, the lower lying products (3)NCN + CO (-105.6) and (3)CNN + CO (-74.6) are kinetically much less competitive. All the involved transition states for generation of CN + NCO and NCCN + (3)O lie much lower than the reactants. Thus, the novel reaction CCN + NO can proceed effectively even at low temperatures and is expected to play a role in both combustion and interstellar processes. Significant differences are found on the singlet PES between the CCN + NO and CH + NO reaction mechanisms.  相似文献

Full-dimensional, density functional theory (B3LYP/6-311g(d,p))-based potential energy surfaces (PESs) are reported and used in quasi-classical calculations of the reaction of C with C(2)H(2). For the triplet case, the PES spans the region of the reactants, the complex region (with numerous minima and saddle points) and the products, linear(l)-C(3)H+H, cyclic(c)-C(3)H+H and c-(3)C(3)+H(2). For the singlet case, the PES describes the complex region and products l-C(3)H+H, c-C(3)H+H and l-(1)C(3)+H(2). The PESs are invariant under permutation of like nuclei and are fit to tens of thousands of electronic energies. Energies and harmonic frequencies of the PESs agree well the DFT ones for all stationary points and for the reactant and the products. Dynamics calculations on the triplet PES find both l-C(3)H and c-C(3)H products, with l-C(3)H being dominant at the energies considered. Limited unimolecular reaction dynamics on the singlet PES find both products in comparable amounts as well as the C(3)+H(2) product.  相似文献

Electronic structure calculations at the CASSCF and UB3LYP levels of theory with the aug-cc-pVDZ basis set were used to characterize structures, vibrational frequencies, and energies for stationary points on the ground state triplet and singlet O(2)+C(2)H(4) potential energy surfaces (PESs). Spin-orbit couplings between the PESs were calculated using state averaged CASSCF wave functions. More accurate energies were obtained for the CASSCF structures with the MRMP2/aug-cc-pVDZ method. An important and necessary aspect of the calculations was the need to use different CASSCF active spaces for the different reaction paths on the investigated PESs. The CASSCF calculations focused on O(2)+C(2)H(4) addition to form the C(2)H(4)O(2) biradical on the triplet and singlet surfaces, and isomerization reaction paths ensuing from this biradical. The triplet and singlet C(2)H(4)O(2) biradicals are very similar in structure, primarily differing in their C-C-O-O dihedral angles. The MRMP2 values for the O(2)+C(2)H(4)→C(2)H(4)O(2) barrier to form the biradical are 33.8 and 6.1 kcal/mol, respectively, for the triplet and singlet surfaces. On the singlet surface, C(2)H(4)O(2) isomerizes to dioxetane and ethane-peroxide with MRMP2 barriers of 7.8 and 21.3 kcal/mol. A more exhaustive search of reaction paths was made for the singlet surface using the UB3LYP/aug-cc-pVDZ theory. The triplet and singlet surfaces cross between the structures for the O(2)+C(2)H(4) addition transition states and the biradical intermediates. Trapping in the triplet biradical intermediate, following (3)O(2)+C(2)H(4) addition, is expected to enhance triplet→singlet intersystem crossing.  相似文献

Although a number of hydrocarbon radicals including the heavier C(3)-radicals C(3)H(3) and C(3)H(5) have been experimentally shown to deplete NO effectively, no theoretical or experimental attempts have been made on the reactivity of the simplest C(3)-radical towards NO. In this article, we report our detailed mechanistic study on the C(3)H+NO reaction at the Gussian-3//B3LYP/6-31G(d) level by constructing the singlet and triplet electronic state [H,C(3),N,O] potential energy surfaces (PESs). The l-C(3)H+NO reaction is shown to barrierlessly form the entrance isomer HCCCNO followed by the direct O-elimination leading to HCCCN+(3)O on triplet PES, or by successive O-transfer, N-insertion, and CN bond-rupture to generate the product (1)HCCN+CO on singlet PES. The possible singlet-triplet intersystem crossings are also discussed. Thus, the novel reaction l-C(3)H+NO can proceed effectively even at low temperatures and is expected to play an important role in both combustion and interstellar processes. For the c-C(3)H+NO reaction, the initially formed H-cCCC-NO can most favorably isomerize to HCCCNO, and further evolution follows that of the l-C(3)H+NO reaction. Quantitatively, the c-C(3)H+NO reaction can take place barrierlessly on singlet PES, yet it faces a small barrier 2.7 kcal/mol on triplet PES. The results will enrich our understanding of the chemistry of the simplest C(3)-radical in both combustion and interstellar processes, which to date have received little attention despite their importance and available abundant studies on its structural and spectroscopic properties.  相似文献

Quantum chemical calculations were carried out to study the reaction of carbon monoxide with molecular oxygen in the ground triplet and singlet delta states. Transition states and intermediates that connect the reactants with products of the reaction on the triplet and singlet potential energy surfaces were identified on the base of coupled-cluster method. The values of energy barriers were refined by using compound techniques such as CBS-Q, CBS-QB3, and G3. The calculations showed that there exists an intersection of triplet and singlet potential energy surfaces. This fact leads to the appearance of two channels for the triplet CO+O(2)(X(3)Σ(g)(-)) reaction, which produces atomic oxygen in the ground O((3)P) and excited O((1)D) states. The appropriate rate constants of all reaction paths were estimated on the base of nonvariational transition-state theory. It was found that the singlet reaction rate constant is much greater than the triplet one and that the reaction channel CO+O(2)(a(1)Δ(g)) should be taken into consideration to interpret the experimental data on the oxidation of CO by molecular oxygen.  相似文献

The intermediates [Si,O,C,O] of the Si + CO2 reaction have been studied in detail using high level ab iniitio methods. Both singlet and triplet [Si,O,C,O] species are characterized structurally and energetically. On the singlet potential energy surface (PES), the vdw‐OSi–CO isomer and in the triplet PES, the bent‐SiOCO isomer is found to be thermodynamically as well as kinetically most stable species. All possible isomerization transition states (TS) are located on both singlet and triplet potential surfaces. On the triplet surface, the stability of the trans‐OSiCO isomer is comparable with that of the bent‐SiOCO isomer. A non‐planar cis‐SiOCO isomer is located on the triplet PES, which is predicted for the first time. Heats of formation at 0 K (ΔfH°, 0 K) for all singlet and triplet species are computed using G3B3, G3MP2, and CBS‐Q theories. The discrepancy between G3B3 and the other two methods for the heat of formation value for triplet trans‐OSiCO is discussed. The PESs for singlet as well as triplet species with their dissociation asymptotes are explored at the CCSD(T)/6‐311G(d,p)//MP2/6‐311G(d,p) level of theory.

Multireference complete active space self-consistent-field CASSCF(10,12)/ANO and second-order perturbation theory MS-CASPT2 calculations were performed to determine the vertical low-lying singlet and triplet states of aniline. The sequence of the seven lower lying triplet states is T1(1(3)A'), T2(1(3)A' '), T3(2(3)A'), T4(3(3)A'), T5(2(3)A' '), T6(4(3)A'), and T7(3(3)A' '). The 3(3)A', 4(3)A', and 3(3)A' ' states are assigned as 3s, 3py, and 3pz Rydberg states, respectively, while other states correspond to pi <-- pi excitations. Both the T1 and T2 states are found to be below at the lowest-lying singlet S1 (1(1)A' ') state. Geometry, vibrational modes, and electron distribution of the lowest lying T1 state were determined using UB3LYP calculations. The vertical and adiabatic singlet-triplet energy gaps DeltaE(S0-T1) amount to 3.7 and 3.5 +/- 0.2 eV, respectively. In clear contrast with the S0 state, the triplet aniline is no longer aromatic, and its protonation occurs preferentially at the ring meta-carbon site, with a proton affinity PA = 243 +/- 3 kcal/mol.  相似文献

The reaction N+NO-->N(2)+O was studied by means of the time-dependent real wave-packet (WP) method and the J-shifting approximation. We consider the ground 1 (3)A(") and first excited 1 (3)A(') triplet states, which correlate with both reactants and products, using analytical potential energy surfaces (PESs) recently developed in our group. This work extends our previous quantum dynamics study, and probabilities, cross sections, and rate constants were calculated and interpreted on the basis of the different shapes of the PESs (barrierless 1 (3)A(") and with barrier 1 (3)A(') surfaces, respectively). The WP rate constant (k(1)) shows a weak dependence on T(200-2500 K), as the dominant contribution to reactivity is provided by the barrierless ground PES. There is a good agreement of WP k(1) with the measurements and variational transition state theory (VTST) data, and also between the WP and VTST k(1)(1 (3)A(")) results. Nevertheless, there is a large discrepancy between the WP and VTST k(1)(1 (3)A(')) results. Product state distributions were also calculated for the much more reactive 1 (3)A(") PES. There is an excellent agreement with the experimental average fraction of vibrational energy in N(2)(25+/-3%), the only measured dynamics property of this reaction.  相似文献

The thermal decomposition of anthranil diluted in argon was studied behind reflected shock waves in a 2 in. i.d. pressurized driver single-pulse shock tube over the temperature range 825-1000 K and overall densities of approximately 3 x 10(-5) mol/cm(3). Two major products: aniline and cyclopentadiene carbonitrile (accompanied by carbon monoxide) and four minor products resulting from the decomposition were found in the postshock samples. They were, in order of decreasing abundance, pyridine, CH(2)=CHCN, HCN and CHC-CN, and comprised only a few percents of the overall product distribution. Quantum chemical calculations were carried out to determine the sequence of the unimolecular reactions that lead to the formation of cyclopentadiene carbonitrile and of phenylnitrene/phenylimine that are the precursors of aniline. They form aniline by reactions with traces of water impurities. To produce cyclopentadiene carbonitrile, two main processes must take place: CO elimination and ring contraction from a six- to a five-membered ring. It was shown that this can occur via two parallel pathways where CO elimination takes place prior to or following ring contraction. Singlet potential energy surfaces for all the elementary reactions that lead to the formation of cyclopentadiene carbonitrile and phenylnitrene/phenylimine were obtained. Their rate constants were calculated on the basis of the results of the quantum chemical calculations using transition-state theory. A kinetic scheme containing these reactions was constructed and multiwell calculations were performed to evaluate the mole percent of the products as a function of temperature. A very serious disagreement between the experimental results and the results of calculations showed that the singlet PESs could not account for the observed experimental rates. No other singlet PESs that lead to the formation of these products could be found. In view of this observation, attempts to find pathways that lead to the formation of cyclopentadiene carbonitrile and phenylnitrene/phenylimine on triplet surfaces were made. Such surfaces were found, and singlet <--> triplet intersystem crossing probabilities and crossing rate constants were calculated as well as the rate constants of all the elementary steps on the triplet surfaces. A reaction scheme was constructed and multiwell calculations were performed, including also the pathways on the singlet surfaces, to evaluate the mole percent of the products as a function of temperature. The agreement between the experimental results and these calculations was quite satisfactory.  相似文献

The mechanism of VO2+ + H2 reaction in the gas phase was investigated by using density functional theory (DFT) at the CCSD//B3LYP/6-311G(2d, p) level. According to our calculation results, the different reaction mechanisms were found for the singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces (PESs). Especially, the crossing points (CPs) among different PESs were located by means of the intrinsic reaction coordinate (IRC) approach presented by Yoshizawa et al., and the structures and energies of the corresponding minimum energy crossing points (MECPs) were obtained by the mathematical algorithm proposed by Harvey et al. Finally, the frontier molecular orbital (FMO) interaction analyses about MECP1 and MECP2 were used to prove our calculation results.  相似文献

The role of triplet states in the UV photodissociation of N(2)O is investigated by means of quantum mechanical wave packet calculations. Global potential energy surfaces are calculated for the lowest two (3)A' and the lowest two (3)A' states at the multi-reference configuration interaction level of electronic structure theory using the augmented valence quadruple zeta atomic basis set. Because of extremely small transition dipole moments with the ground electronic state, excitation of the triplet states has only a marginal effect on the far red tail of the absorption cross section. The calculations do not show any hint of an increased absorption around 280 nm as claimed by early experimental studies. The peak observed in several electron energy loss spectra at 5.4 eV is unambiguously attributed to the lowest triplet state 1(3)A'. Excitation of the 2(1)A' state and subsequent transition to the repulsive branch of the 2(3)A' state at intermediate NN-O separations, promoted by spin-orbit coupling, is identified as the main pathway to the N(2)((1)Σ(g)(+))+O((3)P) triplet channel. The yield, determined in two-state wave packet calculations employing calculated spin-orbit matrix elements, is 0.002 as compared to 0.005 ± 0.002 measured by Nishida et al. [J. Phys. Chem. A 108, 2451 (2004)].  相似文献

The potential energy surface for the CF3O2 + OH reaction has been theoretically investigated using the DFT (B3LYP/6-311G(d,p)) level of theory. Both singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces are investigated. The reaction mechanism on the triplet surface is simple. However, the reaction mechanism on the singlet surface is more complicated. It is revealed that the formation of CF3O + HO2 is the dominant channel on the triplet surface. The potential energy surface (PES) for this reaction has been given according to the relative energies calculated at the DFT/B3LYP/6-311G(d,p) level. Because this reaction involves both triplet and singlet states, triplet–singlet intersystem crossing (ISC) crossing also have been investigated in this paper.

The mechanism for the reaction of the cyanogen radical (CN) with the cyanomidyl radical (HNCN) has been investigated theoretically. The electronic structure information of the singlet and triplet potential energy surfaces (PESs) is obtained at the B3LYP/6-311+G(3df,2p) level, and the single-point energies are refined at the CCSD(T)/6-311+G(3df,2p) level as well as by multilevel MCG3-MPWB method. The calculations show that the C atom of CN additions to middle- and end-N atoms of HNCN are two barrierless association processes leading to the energy-rich intermediates IM1 HN(CN)CN and IM2 HNCNCN, respectively, on the singlet PES. The higher barriers of the subsequent isomerization and dissociation channels from IM1 and IM2 indicate that these two intermediates, which have considerably thermodynamic and kinetic stability, are the dominant product at high pressure. While at low pressure, the most favorable product is P(2) H + NCNCN, which will be formed from both IM1 and IM2 via direct dissociation processes by the H-N bond rupture, and the secondary feasible product is P(4) HCN + (1) NCN, while P(5) HCCN + N(2) and P(6) HCNC + N(2) are the least competitive products. On the triplet PES, P(14) NCNC + HN may be a comparable competitive product at high temperature. In addition, the comparison between the mechanisms of the CN + HNCN and OH + HNCN reactions is made. The present results will enrich our understanding of the chemistry of the HNCN radical in combustion processes and interstellar space.  相似文献
