The rechargeable aluminium–sulfur (Al–S) battery is regarded as a potential alternative beyond lithium-ion battery system owing to its safety, promising energy density, and the high earth abundance of the constituent electrode materials, however, sluggish kinetic response and short life-span are the major issues that limit the battery development towards applications. In this article, we report CoII,III as an electrochemical catalyst in the sulfur cathode that renders a reduced discharge–charge voltage hysteresis and improved capacity retention and rate capability for Al–S batteries. The structural and electrochemical analysis suggest that the catalytic effect of CoII,III is closely associated with the formation of cobalt sulfides and the changes in the valence states of the CoII,III during the electrochemical reactions of the sulfur species, which lead to improved reaction kinetics and sulfur utilization in the cathode. The Al–S battery, assembled with the cathode consisting of CoII,III decorated carbon matrix, demonstrates a considerably reduced voltage hysteresis of 0.8 V, a reversible specific capacity of ≈500 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1 after 200 discharge–charge cycles and of ≈300 mAh g−1 at 3 A g−1.  相似文献

Lithium-sulfur batteries are promising secondary energy storage devices that are mainly limited by its unsatisfactory cyclability owing to inefficient reversible conversion of sulfur and lithium sulfide on the cathode during the discharge/charging process. In this study, nitrogen-doped three-dimensional porous carbon material loaded with CoSe2 nanoparticles (CoSe2-PNC) is developed as a cathode for lithium-sulfur battery. A combination of CoSe2 and nitrogen-doped porous carbon can efficiently improve the cathode activity and its conductivity, resulting in enhanced redox kinetics of the charge/discharge process. The obtained electrode exhibits a high discharge specific capacity of 1139.6 mAh g−1 at a current density of 0.2 C. After 100 cycles, its capacity remained at 865.7 mAh g−1 thus corresponding to a capacity retention of 75.97 %. In a long-term cycling test, discharge specific capacity of 546.7 mAh g−1 was observed after 300 cycles performed at a current density of 1 C.  相似文献

Selenium (Se) is an element in the same main group as sulfur and is characterized by high electrical conductivity and large capacity (675 mAh g−1). Herein, a novel ultra-high dispersion amorphous selenium graphene composite (a-Se/rGO) was synthesized and a selenium nanorods graphene composite (b-Se/rGO) was prepared by hydrothermal method as the cathode material for all solid-state lithium−selenium (Li−Se) batteries, hoping to improve the efficiency and utilization rate of active substances in all solid-state batteries. The all-solid-state batteries were assembled using a heated thawing electrolyte (2LiIHPN−LiI; HPN=3-hydroxypropionitrile). The utilization rate of a-Se/rGO was 103 % and the capacity was 697 mAh g−1, which remained at 281 mAh g−1 (41.6 % of the 675 mAh g−1) after 30 cycles under 0.5 C. Notably, a-Se/rGO showed excellent performance concerning its utilization rate, with a capacity of up to 610 mAh g−1 at 2 C, due to the high availability of amorphous Se and the special properties of the electrolytes. However, in the charge and discharge cycles, the second discharge capacity of a-Se/rGO was more significantly attenuated than that of the first discharge due to the formation of larger crystals of selenium during the charging process. The battery assembled using b-Se/rGO maintained a capacity of 270.58 mAh g−1 after 30 cycles (the retention rate of discharge capacity was 66.13 % compared with that in the first cycle). Through TEM and other relevant tests, it is speculated that amorphous selenium is conducive to capacity release, which, however, is affected by the formation of crystalline selenium after the first charge process.  相似文献

A new type of three-dimensional (3D) oxy-phosphate materials are explored for the application of Li and Na batteries. The molybdenum tungsten oxy phosphate, MoWO3(PO4)2, was synthesized by solid-state method and evaluated for Li/Na insertion/de-insertion electrode material for the first time. The cell at charged state (vs. Li+/Li) showed a discharge capacity of 786 mAh g−1 within the voltage window of 0.3 V with amorphization of crystalline MoWO3(PO4)2 as observed from ex-situ powder XRD analysis. The structural integrity was revealed in this material, even with nearly more than 5 Li+ ions into the lattice, leading to the discharge capacity of 250 mAh g−1. The reversible charge/discharge behavior with insertion/de-insertion of 2.4 Li+ ions in the voltage range of 1.65 − 3.5 V resulted in 110 and 95 mAh g−1 at C/10 and C/5 rates, respectively. On the other hand, poor cycling performance was noticed for Na ion insertion and desertion, with a discharge capacity of 250 mAh/g within the voltage range of 0.3 − 3.5 V (vs. Na+/Na).

Organic carbonyl electrode materials are widely employed for alkali metal-ion secondary batteries in terms of their sustainability, structure designability and abundant resources. As a typical redox-active organic electrode materials, pyrene-4, 5, 9, 10-tetraone (PT) shows high theoretical capacity due to the rich carbonyl active sites. But its electrochemical behavior in secondary batteries still needs further exploration. Herein, PT-based linear polymers (PPTS) is synthesized with thioether bond as bridging group and then employed as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) and sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). As expected, PPTS shows improved conductivity and insolubility in the non-aqueous electrolyte. When used as an anode material for LIBs, PPTS delivers a high reversible specific capacity of 697.1 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1 and good rate performance (335.4 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1). Moreover, a reversible specific capacity of 205.2 mAh g−1 at 0.05 A g−1 could be obtained as an anode material for SIBs.  相似文献

The high theoretical specific capacity, strong structural designability and relatively inexpensive manufacturing cost make the exploration of organic electrode materials more attractive in recent years. In this article, owing to the large π-conjugated structure, plenty of nitrogen heteroatoms and multiring aromatic system, polyazaacene analogue poly(1,6-dihydropyrazino[2,3 g]quinoxaline-2,3,8-triyl-7-(2H)-ylidene-7,8-dimethylidene) (PQL) was applied as the anode in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). PQL was almost insoluble in conventional liquid organic electrolyte (1 M NaClO4 in ethylene carbonate (EC)/dimethyl carbonate (DMC) (v:v=1 : 1) with 5 % fluoroethylene carbonate (FEC)), which strongly improved its cycle stability. The initial discharge capacity was obtained to be 1825 mAh g−1 at the current density of 100 mA g−1 and stabilized at 317 mAh g−1 after 400 cycles with the coulombic efficiency as high as 97 %. It not only showed good rate capability at high current densities (202, 183 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1 and 1.5 A g−1) but also had a superior energy density around 290 Wh kg−1.  相似文献

All-solid-state polymer lithium-ion batteries are ideal choice for the next generation of rechargeable lithium-ion batteries due to their high energy, safety and flexibility. Among all polymer electrolytes, PEO-based polymer electrolytes have attracted extensive attention because they can dissolve various lithium salts. However, the ionic conductivity of pure PEO-based polymer electrolytes is limited due to high crystallinity and poor segment motion. An inorganic filler SiO2 nanospheres and a plasticizer Succinonitrile (SN) are introduced into the PEO matrix to improve the crystallization of PEO, promote the formation of amorphous region, and thus improve the movement of PEO chain segment. Herein, a PEO18−LiTFSI−5 %SiO2−5 %SN composite solid polymer electrolyte (CSPE) was prepared by solution-casting. The high ionic conductivity of the electrolyte was demonstrated at 60 °C up to 3.3×10−4 S cm−1. Meanwhile, the electrochemical performance of LiFePO4/CSPE/Li all-solid-state battery was tested, with discharge capacity of 157.5 mAh g−1 at 0.5 C, and capacity retention rate of 99 % after 100 cycles at 60 °C. This system provides a feasible strategy for the development of efficient all-solid-state lithium-ion batteries.  相似文献

It is crucial to obtain a reliable electrolyte system that is used for replacing thermally unstable and the moisture sensitive LiPF6 salt in liquid electrolytes for developing excellent cycle stability lithium ion batteries with high safety. In this work, a kind of hybrid electrolytes, adding Ga–Bi co-doped Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) into LiTFSI based commercial electrolyte, was successfully prepared. The results shows that adding Ga–Bi co-doped LLZO ceramic particles is benefit for enhancing conductivity of LiTFSI based commercial electrolyte, which is 3.14 mS cm−1 from 3.02 mS cm−1. Furthermore, the LiFePO4| |Li cell assembling with LiTFSI based electrolyte with Ga–Bi co-doped LLZO ceramic particles shows good cycle performance and coulomb efficiency (100% except for the initial cycle value of 88%) due to a passivation multi-element film formed for preventing severe corrosion to the Al foil. The battery delivered a high first cycle discharge capacity of 144.2 mAh g−1 (85% of theoretical LiFePO4.) and a maximum value of 152.6 mAh g−1 after the 69th cycle. After the 300 stable cycle, the capacity of 130.8 mAh g−1 (85.7% of the maximum data) remained.  相似文献

This study reports the use of a layered-type birnessite δ-MnO2 nano-flake cathode for eco-friendly zinc-ion battery (ZIB) applications. The present δ-MnO2 was prepared via the simple low temperature thermal decomposition of KMnO4. The X-ray diffraction (XRD) pattern of the samples was well indexed to the δ-MnO2 phase. Field emission SEM and TEM images of the δ-MnO2 revealed flake-like morphologies with an average diameter of 200 nm. The electrochemical properties, investigated by cyclic voltammetry and constant current charge-discharge measurements, revealed that the nano-flake cathode exhibited first discharge capacity of 122 mAh g 1 under a high current density of 83 mA g 1 versus zinc. The discharge capacity thereafter increased until it reached 252 mAh g 1 in the fourth cycle. On the hundredth cycle, the electrode registered a discharge capacity of 112 mAh g 1. Coulombic efficiencies of nearly 100% were maintained on prolonged cycling and thereby indicate the long cycle stability of the δ-MnO2. Besides, the realization of specific capacities of 92 and 30 mAh/g at high current densities of 666 and 1333 mA g−1, respectively, clearly demonstrates the decent rate capabilities of δ-MnO2 nano-flake cathode. These results may facilitate the utilization of layered-type birnessite δ-MnO2 in ZIB applications.  相似文献

Developing rechargeable Na–CO2 batteries is significant for energy conversion and utilization of CO2. However, the reported batteries in pure CO2 atmosphere are non‐rechargeable with limited discharge capacity of 200 mAh g?1. Herein, we realized the rechargeability of a Na–CO2 battery, with the proposed and demonstrated reversible reaction of 3 CO2+4 Na?2 Na2CO3+C. The battery consists of a Na anode, an ether‐based electrolyte, and a designed cathode with electrolyte‐treated multi‐wall carbon nanotubes, and shows reversible capacity of 60000 mAh g?1 at 1 A g?1 (≈1000 Wh kg?1) and runs for 200 cycles with controlled capacity of 2000 mAh g?1 at charge voltage <3.7 V. The porous structure, high electro‐conductivity, and good wettability of electrolyte to cathode lead to reduced electrochemical polarization of the battery and further result in high performance. Our work provides an alternative approach towards clean recycling and utilization of CO2.  相似文献

Electrodes based on organic matter operating in aqueous electrolytes enable new approaches and technologies for assembling and utilizing batteries that are difficult to achieve with traditional electrode materials. Here, we report how thiophene-based trimeric structures with naphthoquinone or hydroquinone redox-active pendent groups can be processed in solution, deposited, dried and subsequently polymerized in solid state to form conductive (redox) polymer layers without any additives. Such post-deposition polymerization offers efficient use of material, high mass loading (up to 10 mg cm−2) and good flexibility in the choice of substrate and coating method. By employing these materials as anode and cathode in an acidic aqueous electrolyte a rocking-chair proton battery is built. The battery shows good cycling stability (85 % after 500 cycles), withstands rapid charging, with full capacity (60 mAh g−1) reached within 100 seconds, allows for direct integration with photovoltaics, and retains its favorable characteristics even at −24 °C.  相似文献

Although, in the carbon family, graphite is the most thermodynamically stable allotrope, conversion of other carbon allotropes, even amorphous carbons, into graphite is extremely hard. We report a simple electrochemical route for the graphitization of amorphous carbons through cathodic polarization in molten CaCl2 at temperatures of about 1100 K, which generates porous graphite comprising petaloid nanoflakes. This nanostructured graphite allows fast and reversible intercalation/deintercalation of anions, promising a superior cathode material for batteries. In a Pyr14TFSI ionic liquid, it exhibits a specific discharge capacity of 65 and 116 mAh g−1 at a rate of 1800 mA g−1 when charged to 5.0 and 5.25 V vs. Li/Li+, respectively. The capacity remains fairly stable during cycling and decreases by only about 8 % when the charge/discharge rate is increased to 10000 mA g−1 during cycling between 2.25 and 5.0 V.  相似文献

The layered cathode materials of LiV3O8 were successfully prepared for the lithium rechargeable battery via a wet-chemistry synthesis method. The as-synthesized materials were characterized by XRD (powder X-ray diffraction), SEM (scanning electron microscope) and galvanostatic charge-discharge test. The results indicate that this soft-synthesis technique offers reduced calcinations temperature, preferred surface morphology and better electrochemical performance. Among the thus-prepared materials, the material obtained at 350 °C demonstrates the first discharge capacity as high as 308 mAh g-1 in the range of 4.0 ~1.7 V at a current rate of 30 mA g-1 and remains at a stable discharge capacity of 250 mAh g-1 within 30 cycles.  相似文献

To solve the problems such as the dissolution and the poor conductivity of organic small molecule electrode materials, we construct π-d conjugated coordination polymer Ni-DHBQ with multiple redox-active centers as lithium storage materials. It exhibits an ultra-high capacity of 9-electron transfers, while the π-d conjugation and the laminar structure inside the crystal ensure fast electron transport and lithium ion diffusion, resulting in excellent rate performance (505.6 mAh g−1 at 1 A g−1 after 300 cycles). The interaction of Ni-DHBQ with the binder CMC synergistically inhibits its dissolution and anchors the Ni atoms, thus exhibiting excellent cycling stability (650.7 mAh g−1 at 0.1 A g−1 after 100 cycles). This work provides insight into the mechanism of lithium storage in π-d conjugated coordination polymers and the synergistic effect of CMC, which will contribute to the molecular design and commercial application of organic electrode materials.  相似文献

Conversion-type batteries apply the principle that more charge transfer is preferable. The underutilized electron transfer mode within two undermines the electrochemical performance of halogen batteries. Here, we realised a three-electron transfer lithium-halogen battery based on I/I+ and Cl/Cl0 couples by using a common commercial electrolyte saturated with Cl anions. The resulting Li||tetrabutylammonium triiodide (TBAI3) cell exhibits three distinct discharging plateaus at 2.97, 3.40, and 3.85 V. Moreover, it has a high capacity of 631 mAh g−1I (265 mAh g−1electrode, based on entire mass loading) and record-high energy density of up to 2013 Wh kg−1I (845 Wh kg−1electrode). To support these findings, experimental characterisations and density functional theory calculations were conducted to elucidate the redox chemistry involved in this novel interhalogen strategy. We believe our paradigm presented here has a foreseeable inspiring effect on other halogen batteries for high-energy-density pursuit.  相似文献

Aqueous organic redox flow batteries (AORFBs) have received increasing attention as an emergent battery technology for grid-scale renewable energy storage. However, physicochemical properties of redox-active organic electrolytes remain fine refinement to maximize their performance in RFBs. Herein, we report a carboxylate functionalized viologen derivative, N,N′-dibutyrate-4,4′-bipyridinium, (CBu)2V , as a highly stable, high capacity anolyte material under near pH neutral conditions. (CBu)2V can achieve solubility of 2.1 M and display a reversible, kinetically fast reduction at −0.43 V vs NHE at pH 9. DFT studies revealed that the high solubility of (CBu)2V is attributed to its high molecular polarity while its negative reduction potential is benefitted from electron-donating carboxylate groups. A 0.89 V ( CBu)2V /(NH)4Fe(CN)6 AORFB demonstrated exceptional energy storage performance, specifically, 100 % capacity retention with a discharge energy density of 9.5 Wh L−1 for 1000 cycles, power densities of up to 85 mW cm−2, and an energy efficiency of 70 % at 60 mA cm−2. (CBu)2V not only represents the most capacity dense viologen with pendant ionic groups and also exhibits the longest (1200 hours or 50 days) and the most stable flow battery performance to date.  相似文献

A novel organic conjugated polymer based on star-shaped triazine-functional triphenylamine framework poly[1,3,5-tris(4-diphenylamino-phenyl)triazine] (PTDAPTz) is designed and synthesized successfully by FeCl3-catalysted chemical oxidative polymerization. The polymer PTDAPTz powder exhibits a compactly packed pleated skirt shape-like morphology with a high surface area (~930 m2 g−1) and a bimodal pore size distribution ranging from micropores (~0.55 nm) to small diameter mesopores (~2–6 nm). As explored as the cathode material, the obtained PTDAPTz presents the double charge–discharge process characteristics of both the free radical redox of triphenylamine unit and the bipolar redox of triazine unit in the polymer and a well-defined multistage charge/discharge voltage plateau (~3.8 V for p-doped and ~2.0 V for n-doped) during the charge–discharge process. Also, the PTDAPTz demonstrates an improved capacity (stabilized at 123 mA h g−1 until 50th cycle) and the enhanced rate performance compared to polytriphenylamine (PTPAn). Specially, the discharge curve for the part of triphenylamine unit presents an obviously improved discharge plateau (~3.8 V for PTDAPTz compared to ~3.6 V for PTPAn) due to the electron-withdrawing effect of the triazine unit to triphenylamine. The elaborate structural design and created micro-/mesoporous morphology with the double charge–discharge process make PTDAPTz a potential candidate as the performance-improved cathode of Li-organic battery. © 2018 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Dual-ion batteries (DIBs) have attracted much attention owing to their low cost, high voltage, and environmental friendliness. As the source of active ions during the charging/discharging process, the electrolyte plays a critical role in the performance of DIBs, including capacity, energy density, and cycling life. However, most used electrolyte systems based on the LiPF6 salt demonstrate unsatisfactory performance in DIBs. We have successfully developed a 7.5 mol kg−1 lithium bis(fluorosulfonyl)imide (LiFSI) in a carbonate electrolyte system. Compared with diluted electrolytes, this highly concentrated electrolyte exhibits several advantages: 1) enhanced intercalation capacity and cycling stability of the graphite cathode, 2) optimized structural stability of the Al anode, and 3) significantly increased battery energy density. A proof-of-concept DIB based on this concentrated electrolyte exhibits a discharge capacity of 94.0 mAh g−1 at 200 mA g−1 and 96.8 % capacity retention after 500 cycles. By counting both the electrode materials and electrolyte, the energy density of this DIB reaches up to ≈180 Wh kg−1, which is among the best performances of DIBs reported to date.  相似文献

Although sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) are considered as alternatives to lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), the electrochemical performances, in particular the energy density, are much lower than LIBs. A metal–organic compound, cuprous 7,7,8,8-tetracyanoquinodimethane (CuTCNQ), is presented as a new kind of cathode material for SIBs. It consists of both cationic (CuII↔CuI) and anionic (TCNQ0↔TCNQ↔ TCNQ2−) reversible redox reactions, delivering a discharge capacity as high as 255 mAh g−1 at a current density of 20 mA g−1. The synergistic effect of both redox-active metal cations and organic anions brings an electrochemical transfer of multiple electrons. The transformation of cupric ions to cuprous ions occurs at near 3.80 V vs. Na+/Na, while the full reduction of TCNQ0 to TCNQ happens at 3.00–3.30 V. The remarkably high voltage is attributed to the strong inductive effect of the four cyano groups.  相似文献

Quick capacity loss due to the polysulfide shuttle effects and poor rate performance caused by low conductivity of sulfur have always been obstacles to the commercial application of lithium sulfur batteries. Herein, an in-situ doped hierarchical porous biochar materials with high electron-ion conductivity and adjustable three-dimensional (3D) macro-meso-micropore is prepared successfully. Due to its unique physical structure, the resulting material has a specific surface area of 2124.9 m2 g−1 and a cumulative pore volume of 1.19 cm3 g−1. The presence of micropores can effectively physically adsorb polysulfides and mesopores ensure the accessibility of lithium ions and active sites and give the porous carbon material a high specific surface area. The large pores provide channels for the storage of electrolyte and the transmission of ions on the surface of the substrate. The combined effect of these three kinds of pores and the N doping formed in-situ can effectively promote the cycle and rate performance of the battery. Therefore, prepared cathode can still reach a reversible discharge capacity of 616 mAh g−1 at a rate of 5 C. After 400 charge–discharge cycles at 1 C, the reversible capacity is maintained at 510.0 mAh g−1. This new strategy has provided a new approach to the research and industrial-scale production of adjustable hierarchical porous biochar materials.  相似文献
