A series of well‐defined ABC 3‐Miktoarm star‐shaped terpolymers [Poly(styrene)‐Poly(ethylene oxide)‐Poly(ε‐caprolactone)](PS‐PEO‐PCL) with different molecular weight was synthesized by combination of the “living” anionic polymerization with the ring‐opening polymerization (ROP) using macro‐initiator strategy. Firstly, the “living” poly(styryl)lithium (PS?Li+) species were capped by 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether(EEGE) quantitatively and the PS‐EEGE with an active and an ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the same end was obtained. Then, using PS‐EEGE and diphenylmethylpotassium (DPMK) as coinitiator, the diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)p with the ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl group at the junction point were achieved by the ROP of EO and the subsequent termination with bromoethane. The diblock copolymers of (PS‐b‐PEO)d with the active hydroxyl group at the junction point were recovered via the cleavage of ethoxyethyl group on (PS‐b‐PEO)p by acidolysis and saponification successively. Finally, the copolymers (PS‐b‐PEO)d served as the macro‐initiator for ROP of ε‐CL in the presence of tin(II)‐bis(2‐ethylhexanoate)(Sn(Oct)2) and the star(PS‐PEO‐PCL) terpolymers were obtained. The target terpolymers and the intermediates were well characterized by 1H‐NMR, MALDI‐TOF MS, FTIR, and SEC. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Heteroarm H‐shaped terpolymers, (polystyrene)(poly(methyl methacrylate))‐ poly(tert‐butyl acrylate)‐(polystyrene)(poly(methyl methacrylate)), (PS)(PMMA)‐PtBA‐(PMMA)(PS), and, (PS)(PMMA)‐poly(ethylene glycol)(PEG)‐(PMMA)(PS), through click reaction strategy between PS‐PMMA copolymer (as side chains) with an alkyne functional group at the junction point and diazide end‐functionalized PtBA or PEG (as a main chain). PS‐PMMA with alkyne functional group was prepared by sequential living radical polymerizations such as the nitroxide mediated (NMP) and the metal mediated‐living radical polymerization (ATRP) routes. The obtained H‐shaped polymers were characterized by using 1H‐NMR, GPC, DSC, and AFM measurements. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 45: 1055–1065, 2007  相似文献

In this study, graft copolymers with regular graft points containing polystyrene (PS) backbone and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA), or poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) side chains were simply achieved by a sequential double polymer click reactions. The linear α‐alkyne‐ω‐azide PS with an anthracene pendant unit per chain was produced via atom transfer radical polymerization of styrene initiated by anthracen‐9‐ylmethyl 2‐((2‐bromo‐2‐methylpropanoyloxy)methyl)‐2‐methyl‐3‐oxo‐3‐(prop‐2‐ynyloxy) propyl succinate. Subsequently, the azide–alkyne click coupling of this PS to create the linear multiblock PS chain with pendant anthracene sites per PS block, followed by Diels–Alder click reaction with maleimide end‐functionalized PMMA, PtBA, or PEG yielded final PS‐g‐PMMA, PS‐g‐PtBA or PS‐g‐PEG copolymers with regular grafts, respectively. Well‐defined polymers were characterized by 1H NMR, gel permeation chromatography (GPC) and triple detection GPC. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2011  相似文献

H‐shaped quintopolymer containing different five blocks: poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL), polystyrene (PS), poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG), and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as side chains and poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA) as a main chain was simply prepared from a click reaction between azide end‐functionalized PCL‐PS‐PtBA 3‐miktoarm star terpolymer and PEG–PMMA‐block copolymer with alkyne at the junction point, using Cu(I)/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) as a catalyst in DMF at room temperature for 20 h. The H‐shaped quintopolymer was obtained with a number–average molecular weight (Mn) around 32,000 and low polydispersity index (Mw/Mn) 1.20 as determined by GPC analysis in THF using PS standards. The click reaction efficiency was calculated to have 60% from 1H NMR spectroscopy. © 2008 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem 46: 4459–4468, 2008  相似文献

Characterization of block size in poly(ethylene oxide)‐b‐poly(styrene) (PEO‐b‐PS) block copolymers could be achieved by matrix‐assisted laser desorption/ionization time‐of‐flight mass spectrometry (MALDI‐TOF‐MS) after scission of the macromolecules into their constituent blocks. The performed hydrolytic cleavage was demonstrated to specifically occur on the targeted ester function in the junction group, yielding two homopolymers consisting of the constitutive initial blocks. This approach allows the use of well‐established MALDI protocols for a complete copolymer characterization while circumventing difficulties inherent to amphiphilic macromolecule ionization. Although the labile end‐group in PS homopolymer was modified by the MALDI process, PS block size could be determined from MS data since polymer chains were shown to remain intact during ionization. This methodology has been validated for a PEO‐b‐PS sample series, with two PEO of number average molecular weight (Mn) of 2000 and 5000 g mol?1 and Mn(PS) ranging from 4000 to 21,000 g mol?1. Weight average molecular weight (Mw), and thus polydispersity index, could also be reached for each segment and were consistent with values obtained by size exclusion chromatography. This approach is particularly valuable in the case of amphiphilic copolymers for which Mn values as determined by liquid state nuclear magnetic resonance might be affected by micelle formation.

A well‐defined linear ABC triblock copolymer of ethylene oxide (EO), methyl methacrylate (MMA), and styrene (St) was prepared by sequential living anionic and photo‐induced charge transfer polymerization (CTP) using p‐aminophenol as parent compound. In the first step, the diblock copolymer of PEO‐b‐PMMA with a protected aniline end group at PEO end was prepared by initiating of phenoxo‐anion the polymerization of EO and MMA successively, then the diblock copolymer of PEO‐b‐PMMA via deprotection of aniline at PEO end constituted a binary initiation system with benzophenone (BP) by charge transfer complex mechanism to initiate the polymerization of St under UV‐irradiation. The GPC and NMR measurements support that in copolymerization, either in the first or second step, neither homopolymer nor side reactions, such as chain transfer or chain termination, was found. The effect of the concentration of PEOab‐PMMA and St, and the polarity of solvent on the polymerization rate (Rp) of CTP is discussed. © 1999 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The tadpole‐shaped copolymers polystyrene (PS)‐b‐[cyclic poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO)] [PS‐b‐(c‐PEO)] contained linear tail chains of PS and cyclic head chains of PEO were synthesized by combination of Glaser coupling with living anionic polymerization (LAP) and ring‐opening polymerization (ROP). First, the functionalized polystyrene‐glycerol (PS‐Gly) with two active hydroxyl groups at ω end was synthesized by LAP of St and the subsequent capping with 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether and then deprotection of protected hydroxyl group in acid condition. Then, using PS‐Gly as macroinitiator, the ROP of EO was performed using diphenylmethylpotassium as cocatalyst for AB2 star‐shaped copolymers PS‐b‐(PEO‐OH)2, and the alkyne group was introduced onto PEO arm end for PS‐b‐(PEO‐Alkyne)2. Finally, the intramolecular cyclization was performed by Glaser coupling reaction in pyridine/Cu(I)Br/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine system under room temperature, and tadpole‐shaped PS‐b‐(c‐PEO) was formed. The target copolymers and their intermediates were well characterized by size‐exclusion chromatography, proton nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy, and fourier transform infrared spectroscopy in details. The thermal properties was also determined and compared to investigate the influence of architecture on properties. The results showed that tadpole‐shaped copolymers had lower Tm, Tc, and Xc than that of their precursors of AB2 star‐shaped copolymers. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Hydroxyl-, amine-, and lactone-end-functional poly(methyl methacrylate)s (PMMA) were prepared with controlled molecular weights and Mw/Mn = 1.06–1.19 via group transfer polymerization. This was achieved by the electrophilic termination of silyl ketene acetal ended PMMAs with benzaldehyde, N-trimethylsilyl benzaldimine, and 5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one, respectively. The number-average degree of functionalization, as determined by NMR/SEC, was in the range of 0.70–0.85. A Lewis acid was used for terminating silyl ketene acetal ended PMMA with N-trimethylsilyl benzaldimine, whereas tetra-n-butyl ammonium bibenzoate was used in the case of benzaldehyde and 5,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-2-one. MALDI-TOF MS analysis of the end-functional polymers indicated the competing formation of cyclic end groups due to a back-biting reaction along with end-functional PMMAs. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. We report an efficient way, sequential double click reactions, for the preparation of brush copolymers with AB block‐brush architectures containing polyoxanorbornene (poly (ONB)) backbone and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL), poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA) side chains: poly(ONB‐g‐PMMA)‐b‐poly(ONB‐g‐PCL) and poly(ONB‐g‐PtBA)‐b‐poly(ONB‐g‐PCL). The living ROMP of ONB affords the synthesis of well‐defined poly(ONB‐anthracene)20b‐poly (ONB‐azide)5 block copolymer with anthryl and azide pendant groups. Subsequently, well‐defined linear alkyne end‐functionalized PCL (PCL‐alkyne), maleimide end‐functionalized PMMA (PMMA‐MI) and PtBA‐MI were introduced onto the block copolymer via sequential azide‐alkyne and Diels‐Alder click reactions, thus yielding block‐brush copolymers. The molecular weight of block‐brush copolymers was measured via triple detection GPC (TD‐GPC) introducing the experimentally calculated dn/dc values to the software. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Poly(methylphenylsiloxane)–poly(methyl methacrylate) graft copolymers (PSXE-g-PMMA) were prepared by condensation reaction of poly(methylphenylsiloxane)-containing epoxy resin (PSXE) with carboxyl-terminated poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA), and they were characterized by gel permeation chromatography (GPC), infrared (IR), and 29Si and 13C nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR). The microstructure of the PSXE-g-PMMA graft copolymer was investigated by proton spin–spin relaxation T2 measurements. The thermal stability and apparent activation energy for thermal degradation of these copolymers were studied by thermogravimetry and compared with unmodified PMMA. The incorporation of poly(methylphenylsiloxane) segments in graft copolymers improved thermal stability of PMMA and enhanced the activation energy for thermal degradation of PMMA. © 1998 John Wiley & Sons, Inc. The dendrimer‐like copolymers [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]n (n ≥ 2) based on the star[Polystyrene‐Poly(ethylene oxide)‐Poly(ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether)] [star(PS‐PEO‐(PEEGE‐OH))] terpolymers were synthesized by click chemistry. First, the star‐shaped copolymers star[PS‐PEO‐(PEEGE‐Alkyne)] (also termed as [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]1) were synthesized by the reaction of hydroxyl end group at PEEGE arm (on star[PS‐PEO‐(PEEGE‐OH)]) with propargyl bromide. Then, the small molecule 1,4‐diazidobutane (DAB) with two azide groups and pentaerythritol tetrakis (2‐azidoisobutyrate) (PTAB) with four azide groups were synthesized and reacted with [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]1 by the click chemistry for dendrimer‐like [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]2 and [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]4, respectively. However, in the latter case, only the [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]3 was formed as the main product because of the steric effect. The final dendrimer‐like [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]n copolymers were characterized by SEC and 1H‐NMR in detail. Comparing with the SEC of their precursor [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]1, the curves of [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]2 was shifted to the shorter elution time, while that of [PEEGE‐(PS/PEO)]n (n ≥ 3) was shifted to the longer elution time, which was attributed to the different hydrodynamic volume derived from their separate structures and compositions in THF solution. © 2009 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. A novel method for synthesis of amphiphilic macrocyclic graft copolymers with multi‐polystyrene lateral chains is suggested, by combination of anionic ring‐open polymerization (AROP) with atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP). The anionic ring‐opening copolymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) and ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether (EEGE) was carried out first using triethylene glycol and diphenylmethylpotassium (DPMK) as coinitiators; the monomer reactivity ratio of them are r1(EO) = 1.20 ± 0.01 and r2(EEGE) = 0.76 ± 0.02 respectively. The obtained linear well‐defined α,ω‐dihydroxyl poly(ethylene oxide) with pendant protected hydroxylmethyls (l‐poly(EO‐co‐EEGE)) was cyclized by reaction with tosyl chloride (TsCl) in the presence of solid KOH. The crude cyclized product containing the extended linear chain polymer was hydrolyzed and then purified by treat with α‐CD. The pure cyclic copolymer with multipendant hydroxymethyls [c‐poly(EO‐co‐Gly)] was esterified by reaction with 2‐bromoisobutyryl bromide, and then used as macroinitiators to initiate polymerization of styrene (St), and a series of amphiphilic macrocyclic grafted copolymers composed of a hydrophilic PEO as ring and hydrophobic polystyrene as side chains (c‐PEO‐g‐PS) were obtained. The intermediates and final products were characterized by GPC, NMR and MALDI‐TOF in detail. The experimental results confirmed that c‐PEO‐g‐PS shows stronger conjugation ability with the dyes than the corresponding comb‐PEO‐g‐PS. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. The twin‐tail tadpole‐shaped (cyclic polystyrene)‐block‐[linear poly (tert‐butyl acrylate)]2 [(c‐PS)‐b‐(l‐PtBA)2] was synthesized by combination of Glaser coupling reaction with atom transfer radical polymerization (ATRP) and living anionic polymerization (LAP). First, the telechelic PS with an active and an ethoxyethyl‐protected hydroxyl groups at both ends was prepared by LAP of St monomers using lithium naphthalenide as initiator and terminated by 1‐ethoxyethyl glycidyl ether. And the alkyne groups were introduced onto each PS end by selectively reaction of active hydroxy group with propargyl bromide in NaH/tetrahydrofuran (THF) system. Then, the intramolecular cyclization was carried out by Glaser coupling reaction in pyridine/Cu(I)Br system in air atmosphere. Finally, the macroinitiator of c‐PS with two bromine groups at the junction point was synthesized via the cleavage of ethoxyethyl group and the subsequent esterification of the deprotected hydroxyl groups with 2‐bromoisobutyryl bromide. The copolymer of (c‐PS)‐b‐(l‐PtBA)2 was obtained by ATRP of tBA monomers, and the PtBA segment was also hydrolyzed for (cyclic polystyrene)‐block‐(linear polyacrylic acid)2 [(c‐PS)‐b‐(l‐PAA)2]. The target copolymers and all intermediates were well characterized by GPC, MALDI‐TOF MS, and 1H NMR in detail. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. J Polym Sci Part A: Polym Chem, 2012  相似文献

3‐Arm star‐block copolymers, (polystyrene‐b‐poly(methyl methacrylate))3, (PS‐b‐PMMA)3, and (polystyrene‐b‐poly(ethylene glycol))3, (PS‐b‐PEG)3, are prepared using double‐click reactions: Huisgen and Diels–Alder, with a one‐pot technique. PS and PMMA blocks with α‐anthracene‐ω‐azide‐ and α‐maleimide‐end‐groups, respectively, are achieved using suitable initiators in ATRP of styrene and MMA, respectively. However, PEG obtained from a commercial source is reacted with 3‐acetyl‐N‐(2‐hydroxyethyl)‐7‐oxabicyclo[2.2.1]hept‐5‐ene‐2‐carboxamide (7) to give furan‐protected maleimide‐end‐functionalized PEG. Finally, PS/PMMA and PS/PEG blocks are linked efficiently with trialkyne functional linking agent 1,1,1‐tris[4‐(2‐propynyloxy)phenyl]‐ethane 2 in the presence of CuBr/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine (PMDETA) at 120 °C for 48 h to give two samples of 3‐arm star‐block copolymers. The results of the peak splitting using a Gaussian deconvolution of the obtained GPC traces for (PS‐b‐PMMA)3 and (PS‐b‐PEG)3 displayed that the yields of target 3‐arm star‐block copolymers were found to be 88 and 82%, respectively. © Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Two samples of ABCD 4‐miktoarm star quarterpolymer with A = polystyrene (PS), B = poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL), C = poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) or poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) (PtBA), and D = poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) were prepared using click reaction strategy (Cu(I)‐catalyzed Huisgen [3 + 2] reaction). Thus, first, predefined block copolymers of different polymerization routes, PS‐b‐PCL with azide and PMMA‐b‐PEG and PtBA‐b‐PEG copolymers with alkyne functionality, were synthesized and then these blocks were combined together in the presence of Cu(I)/N,N,N′,N″,N″‐pentamethyldiethylenetriamine as a catalyst in DMF at room temperature to give the target 4‐miktoarm star quarterpolymers. Heteroarm H‐shaped terpolymers (PS)(PtBA)–PEO–(PtBA)(PS) and (PS)(PtBA)–PPO–(PtBA)(PS) [where PS is polystyrene, PtBA is poly(tert‐butyl acrylate), PEO is poly(ethylene oxide), and PPO is poly(propylene oxide)], containing PEO or PPO as a backbone and PS and PtBA as side arms, were prepared via the combination of the Diels–Alder reaction and atom transfer radical and nitroxide‐mediated radical polymerization routes. Commercially available PEO or PPO containing bismaleimide end groups was reacted with a compound having an anthracene functionality, succinic acid anthracen‐9‐yl methyl ester 3‐(2‐bromo‐2‐methylpropionyloxy)‐2‐methyl‐2‐[2‐phenyl‐2‐(2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidin‐1‐yloxy)ethoxycarbonyl]propyl ester, with a Diels–Alder reaction strategy. The obtained macroinitiator with tertiary bromide and 2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidin‐1‐oxy functional end groups was used subsequently in the atom transfer radical polymerization of tert‐butyl acrylate and in the nitroxide‐mediated free‐radical polymerization of styrene to produce heteroarm H‐shaped terpolymers with moderately low molecular weight distributions (<1.31). The polymers were characterized with 1H NMR, ultraviolet, gel permeation chromatography, and differential scanning calorimetry. © 2006 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Dendritic 2‐ and 4‐arm PMMA‐based star polymers with furan‐protected maleimide at their focal point, (PMMA)2n‐MI and (PMMA)4n‐MI were efficiently clicked with the peripheral anthracene functionalized multiarm star polymer, (α‐anthryl functionalized‐polystyrene)m‐poly(divinyl benzene) ((α‐anthryl‐PS)m‐polyDVB) through the Diels–Alder reaction resulting in corresponding multiarm star block copolymers: (PMMA)2n‐(PS)m‐polyDVB and (PMMA)4n‐(PS)m‐polyDVB, respectively. Molecular weights (Mw,TDGPC), hydrodynamic radius (Rh), and intrinsic viscosity (η) of the multiarm star polymers were determined using three‐detection GPC (TD‐GPC). The high efficiency of this methodology to obtain such sterically demanding macromolecular constructs was deduced using 1H‐NMR and UV–vis spectroscopy. © 2010 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Structurally well‐defined end functionalized isotactic polypropylene (iPP) is prepared by conducting a selective chain transfer reaction during the isospecific polymerization of propylene in the presence of norbornadiene (NBD) and hydrogen using rac‐Me2Si(2‐Me‐4‐Ph‐Ind)2 ZrCl2/MAO as the catalyst. The production of NBD‐capped iPP involves a unique consecutive chain transfer reaction, first to NBD and then to hydrogen, for situating the incorporated NBD at the iPP chain end. The NBD end group of NBD‐capped iPP can be converted into other reactive functional group through functional group transformation reactions. The resulting functional group end‐capped iPP can be used for the construction of stereoregular block copolymers (e.g., iPP‐b‐PMMA and iPP‐b‐PS) through postpolymeriztion reactions. © 2011 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Diels–Alder click reaction was successfully applied for the preparation of 3‐arm star polymers (A3) using furan protected maleimide end‐functionalized polymers and trianthracene functional linking agent (2) at reflux temperature of toluene for 48 h. Well‐defined furan protected maleimide end‐functionalized polymers, poly (ethylene glycol), poly(methyl methacrylate), and poly(tert‐butyl acrylate) were obtained by esterification or atom transfer radical polymerization. Obtained star polymers were characterized via NMR and GPC (refractive index and triple detector detection). Splitting of GPC traces of the resulting polymer mixture notably displayed that Diels–Alder click reaction was a versatile and a reliable route for the preparation of A3 star polymer. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
