When supercritical CO2 is dissolved in an ionic liquid, its partial molar volume is much smaller than that observed in most other solvents. In this article we explore in atomistic detail and explain in an intuitive way the peculiar volumetric behavior experimentally observed when supercritical CO2 is dissolved in 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium hexafluorophosphate ([Bmim+] [PF6(-)]). We also provide physical insight into the structure and dynamics occurring across the boundary of the CO2 ionic liquid interface. We find that the liquid structure of [Bmim+] [PF6(-)] in the presence of CO2 is nearly identical to that in the neat ionic liquid (IL) even at fairly large mole fractions of CO2. Our simulations indicate, in agreement with experiments, that partial miscibilities of one fluid into the other are very unsymmetrical, CO2 being highly soluble in the ionic liquid phase while the ionic liquid is highly insoluble in the CO2 phase. We interpret our results in terms of the size and shape of spontaneously forming cavities in the ionic liquid phase, and we propose that CO2 occupies extremely well-defined locations in the IL. Even though our accurate prediction of cavity sizes in the neat IL indicates that these cavities are small compared with the van der Waals radius of a single carbon or oxygen atom, CO2 appears to occupy a space that was for the most part a priori "empty".  相似文献

The sensitivity of Lepidium sativum L. germination to three imidazolium ionic liquids was investigated in solutions and soils artificially contaminated with mixtures of those compounds. In case of aquatic solutions, the toxic character of analyzed compounds is connected with their hydrophobicity. The seedling growth is increasing with the decrease in ionic liquid hydrophobicity. The novelty of those studies is the application of high-performance liquid chromatography, which was used for the determination of ionic liquid quantity absorbed by cress. There was almost linear relationship between decrease in root germination and amount of ionic liquid uptaken by cress. Furthermore, the systematic studies on the influence of total organic carbon content in soil on the toxicity of ionic liquids to cress were performed for the first time. Hazardous effects appeared to be closely connected with organic matter: with the decrease of total organic carbon quantity, the inhibition of plant growth was more significant. Ionic Liquids-New "Solutions" for Transition Metal Catalysis   总被引:2,自引:0,他引:2  
Ionic liquids are salts that are liquid at low temperature (<100 degrees C) which represent a new class of solvents with nonmolecular, ionic character. Even though the first representative has been known since 1914, ionic liquids have only been investigated as solvents for transition metal catalysis in the past ten years. Publications to date show that replacing an organic solvent by an ionic liquid can lead to remarkable improvements in well-known processes. Ionic liquids form biphasic systems with many organic product mixtures. This gives rise to the possibility of a multiphase reaction procedure with easy isolation and recovery of homogeneous catalysts. In addition, ionic liquids have practically no vapor pressure which facilitates product separation by distillation. There are also indications that switching from a normal organic solvent to an ionic liquid can lead to novel and unusual chemical reactivity. This opens up a wide field for future investigations into this new class of solvents in catalytic applications.  相似文献

We have recently established that highly regioselective Heck arylation of electron-rich olefins can be accomplished with aryl halides without using any halide scavengers in imidazolium ionic liquid solvents. The results presented in this paper show that the benchmark electron-rich olefins vinyl ethers can be readily arylated by aryl bromides in a molecular solvent-ionic liquid cocktail with no compromise on regioselectivity. By introducing a small amount of 1-butyl-3-methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate ([bmim][BF4]) to DMSO, the arylation reactions of the vinyl ethers 1a-d by the bromides 2a-j took place to afford essentially only the α arylated products. The enamide 1e underwent similar regioselective arylation in the solvent cocktail. In the absence of the ionic liquid, lower regioselectivities were observed. In comparison with the chemistry we have reported so far, the current method reduces considerably the reliance on the volume of ionic liquids used, providing a simpler and more practical synthetic pathway for preparing arylated vinyl ethers and aryl methyl ketones.  相似文献

Tetraethoxysilane reacted with silica nanoparticles in the presence of a variety of ionic liquids such as phosphonium-, ammonium-, and imidazolium-type ionic liquids under alkaline conditions to afford the corresponding ionic liquid/silica nanocomposites with a good dispersibility and stability in numerous solvents. It was demonstrated that these ionic liquid nanocomposites can be classified into the nanocomposites possessing no weight loss and weight loss characteristics after calcination at 800 °C, respectively, according to the ionic liquid structures in the composites. The ionic liquids except for 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium hydrogen sulfate were found to afford the corresponding ionic liquid/silica nanocomposites possessing no weight loss characteristic even after calcination at 800 °C.

In continuation of research to explore the applied potential of DMF‐like ionic liquid, the ionic liquid version of N,N‐dimethyliminiumchloride (Vilsmier reagent) has been synthesized from DMF‐like ionic liquid and tested effectively for its capacity to achieve more useful organic transformations. The results show that DMF‐like ionic liquid is world's first task specific ionic liquid which has catalyzed numerous diverse type of reaction and is multipurpose in its application. Thus a new term for this DMF‐like ionic liquid has been coined that is DMF‐like "multipurpose" ionic liquid.  相似文献

This paper reports on the highly ordered and tunable inner structure of poly(ionic liquid) nanoparticles, which formed spontaneously by precipitation polymerization from water. Without added stabilizer, these "latexes" are much smaller (20-40 nm in diameter) than usual polymer latexes and exhibit either multilamellar or unilamellar vesicular morphology, depending on the tail length of the quaternizing alkyl chains. The simplicity in the synthesis and composition and the high complexity of the ordered structures that resemble liposomes expand the classical profile of homopolymer self-assembly. In addition, unidirectional superassembly to a nanoworm mesostructure is found at elevated concentrations, indicating that the ionic liquid liposomes are apt to integrate into further hierarchical assembly schemes.  相似文献

An ionic liquid "reagent" bearing a succinimidyl activated ester is reported that can be used to synthesize a variety of small molecule and macromolecular ionic liquids. In addition, the ionic liquid reagent was used to modify lysozyme, and the protein retained its structure and function after modification. 两步法合成了吗啉阴离子型碱性离子液体1-丁基-3-甲基吗啉盐Im,经 1H-NMR和FT-IR分析确认了离子液体中间体的结构,并通过阴离子交换得到碱性离子液体,对该离子液体在酯交换制备生物柴油反应中的催化性能进行了研究。结果表明,该碱性离子液体Im具有较高的酯交换催化活性,在60 ℃、催化剂用量为3%、醇油物质的量比为6.5:1.0、反应2 h的条件下,产物脂肪酸甲酯(FAME)含量可达95.80%。而且该离子液体的催化稳定性较好,重复使用5次后仍有较高的催化活性。  相似文献

An ionic liquid was incorporated into the porous polymer monoliths to afford stationary phases with enhanced chromatographic performance for small molecules in reversed‐phase high‐performance liquid chromatography. The effect of the ionic liquid in the polymerization mixture on the performance of the monoliths was studied in detail. While monoliths without ionic liquid exhibited poor resolution and low efficiency, the addition of ionic liquid to the polymerization mixture provides highly increased resolution and high efficiency. The chromatographic performances of the monoliths were demonstrated by the separations of various small molecules including aromatic hydrocarbons, isomers, and homologues using a binary polar mobile phase. The present column efficiency reached 27 000 plates/m, which showed that the ionic liquid monoliths are alternative stationary phases in the separation of small molecules by high‐performance liquid chromatography  相似文献

Imidazole substituted with a polyfluoropolyether chain based on HFPO trimer combined with various polyfluoroalkyl triflates produced novel highly fluorous ionic liquids. Their metathesis with four different anions generated a final set of 20 fluorous ionic liquids of waxy or viscous liquid character, which are all soluble in perfluorinated solvents. Two model reactions using selected ionic liquid, the opening of a THF ring with benzoyl chloride under Friedel-Crafts conditions and substitution of benzyl chloride with sodium azide, led to decomposition of the ionic liquid. However, Diels-Alder reaction of 2,3-dimethylbuta-1,3-diene with dimethyl acetylenedicarboxylate in a fluorous ionic liquid resulted in a reasonable enhancing of the reaction rate with smooth recycle of the fluorous solvent. The fluorophilicity of these fluorous ionic liquids ranges from more than 10 for water, toluene or dichloromethane to less than 0.2 for acetonitrile or methanol.  相似文献

An ionic liquid material containing small size cation was synthesized and its composition and structure was determined by FT-IR, 1H NMR, 13C NMR and element analysis. However, its physical properties such as melting point, viscosity, conductivity, etc. were measured and the results show that the novel ionic liquid is composed of small cation with highly symmetry and larger anion which is very rare among the reported ionic liquid family.  相似文献

The ability of low molecular weight amides to support amphiphile self-assembly is shown to be a general feature for this class of solvents. This report extends the number of known polar solvents which can support amphiphile self-assembly by five new amides; more than doubling the number of known amides able to serve as amphiphile self-assembly media. The formation of lyotropic liquid crystalline phases by cationic and non-ionic surfactants in these liquid amides is reported. The ability of a solvent to promote amphiphile self-assembly is governed by the "solvophobic effect" and is linked to the solvent cohesiveness. The Gordon parameter which is a measure of the solvent cohesiveness was found to provide a guide to an amides capacity to support lyotropic liquid crystalline phase diversity and thermal stability ranges of those phases. The "solvophobic effect" and steric hindrance factors were compared between amide's and protic ionic liquids possessing analogous chemical structures and also being able to promote amphiphile self-assembly.  相似文献

We report on a carbon ionic liquid electrode modified with a composite made from Nafion, graphene oxide and ionic liquid, and its application to the sensitive determination of rutin. The modified electrode was characterized by cyclic voltammetry and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. It shows excellent cyclic voltammetric and differential pulse voltammetric performance due to the presence of nanoscale graphene oxide and the ionic liquid, and their interaction. A pair of well-defined redox peaks of rutin appears at pH 3.0, and the reduction peak current is linearly related to its concentration in the range from 0.08 μM to 0.1 mM with a detection limit of 0.016 μM (at 3σ). The modified electrode displays excellent selectivity and good stability, and was successfully applied to the determination of rutin in tablets with good recovery.

A new chiral stationary phase based on molecularly imprinted polymers (MIP) was prepared in ionic liquid by use of the metal pivot concept. Imprinted monoliths were synthesized by use of a mixture of R-mandelic acid (template), 4-vinylpyridine, ethylene glycol dimethacrylate, and several metal ions as pivot between the template and functional monomer. A ternary mixture of dimethyl sulfoxide–dimethylformamide–[BMIM]BF4 containing metal ions was used as the porogenic system. Separation of the enantiomers of rac-mandelic acid was successfully achieved on the MIP thus obtained, with resolution of 1.87, whereas no enantiomer separation was observed on the imprinted monolithic column in the absence of metal ions. The effects of polymerization conditions, including the nature of the metal ion and the ratios of template to metal ions and template to functional monomer, on the chiral separation of mandelic acid were investigated. The results reveal that use of metal ions as a pivot, in combination with ionic liquid, is an effective method for preparation of a highly efficient MIP stationary phase for chiral separation.

Four poly((1,2-butadiene)- block-ethylene oxide) (PB-PEO) diblock copolymers were shown to self-assemble into micelles with PB cores and PEO coronas (including spheres, cylinders, and vesicles) in the ionic liquid, 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium bis(trifluoromethylsulfonyl)imide ([EMIM][TFSI]). All four systems exhibited the "micelle shuttle" (He, Y.; Lodge, T. P. J. Am. Chem. Soc. 2006, 128, 12666-12667), whereby PB-PEO micelles transferred, reversibly and with preservation of micelle structure, from an aqueous phase at room temperature to a hydrophobic ionic liquid at high temperature. The micelle size (both mean and distribution) depends on whether it was initially dissolved in water or in the ionic liquid, but the initial micelle structures in the ionic liquid were shown by dynamic light scattering to be preserved during the transfer and persist essentially unchanged for months in both the ionic liquid and water. The transfer was shown to be driven by the deteriorating solvent quality of water for PEO at high temperature, while the ionic liquid remains a good solvent. The transfer temperature could be tuned by adding ionic or nonionic additives to the aqueous phase to change the solvent quality of water for PEO, and by using ionic liquids with different polarity.  相似文献
