Electrochemical reduction of carbon dioxide (CO2) to CO is regarded as an efficient method to utilize the greenhouse gas CO2, because the CO product can be further converted into high value‐added chemicals via the Fisher–Tropsch process. Among all electrocatalysts used for CO2‐to‐CO reduction, Au‐based catalysts have been demonstrated to possess high selectivity, but their precious price limits their future large‐scale applications. Thus, simultaneously achieving high selectivity and reasonable price is of great importance for the development of Au‐based catalysts. Here, we report Ag@Au core–shell nanowires as electrocatalyst for CO2 reduction, in which a nanometer‐thick Au film is uniformly deposited on the core Ag nanowire. Importantly, the Ag@Au catalyst with a relative low Au content can drive CO generation with nearly 100 % Faraday efficiency in 0.1 m KCl electrolyte at an overpotential of ca. ?1.0 V. This high selectivity of CO2 reduction could be attributed to a suitable adsorption strength for the key intermediate on Au film together with the synergistic effects between the Au shell and Ag core and the strong interaction between CO2 and Cl? ions in the electrolyte, which may further pave the way for the development of high‐efficiency electrocatalysts for CO2 reduction.  相似文献

The electrochemical reduction reaction of carbon dioxide (CO2RR) to carbon monoxide (CO) is the basis for the further synthesis of more complex carbon‐based fuels or attractive feedstock. Single‐atom catalysts have unique electronic and geometric structures with respect to their bulk counterparts, thus exhibiting unexpected catalytic activities. A nitrogen‐anchored Zn single‐atom catalyst is presented for CO formation from CO2RR with high catalytic activity (onset overpotential down to 24 mV), high selectivity (Faradaic efficiency for CO (FECO) up to 95 % at ?0.43 V), remarkable durability (>75 h without decay of FECO), and large turnover frequency (TOF, up to 9969 h?1). Further experimental and DFT results indicate that the four‐nitrogen‐anchored Zn single atom (Zn‐N4) is the main active site for CO2RR with low free energy barrier for the formation of *COOH as the rate‐limiting step.  相似文献

A conceptually new all‐solid‐state asymmetric supercapacitor based on atomically thin sheets is presented which offers the opportunity to optimize supercapacitor properties on an atomic level. As a prototype, β‐Co(OH)2 single layers with five‐atoms layer thickness were synthesized through an oriented‐attachment strategy. The increased density‐of‐states and 100 % exposed hydrogen atoms endow the β‐Co(OH)2 single‐layers‐based electrode with a large capacitance of 2028 F g?1. The corresponding all‐solid‐state asymmetric supercapacitor achieves a high cell voltage of 1.8 V and an exceptional energy density of 98.9 Wh kg?1 at an ultrahigh power density of 17 981 W kg?1. Also, this integrated nanodevice exhibits excellent cyclability with 93.2 % capacitance retention after 10 000 cycles, holding great promise for constructing high‐energy storage nanodevices.  相似文献

In this work, β‐Co(OH)2 nanosheets are explored as efficient pseudocapacitive materials for the fabrication of 1.6 V class high‐energy supercapacitors in asymmetric fashion. The as‐synthesized β‐Co(OH)2 nanosheets displayed an excellent electrochemical performance owing to their unique structure, morphology, and reversible reaction kinetics (fast faradic reaction) in both the three‐electrode and asymmetric configuration (with activated carbon, AC). For example, in the three‐electrode set‐up, β‐Co(OH)2 exhibits a high specific capacitance of ∼675 F g−1 at a scan rate of 1 mV s−1. In the asymmetric supercapacitor, the β‐Co(OH)2∥AC cell delivers a maximum energy density of 37.3 Wh kg−1 at a power density of 800 W kg−1. Even at harsh conditions (8 kW kg−1), an energy density of 15.64 Wh kg−1 is registered for the β‐Co(OH)2∥AC assembly. Such an impressive performance of β‐Co(OH)2 nanosheets in the asymmetric configuration reveals the emergence of pseudocapacitive electrodes towards the fabrication of high‐energy electrochemical charge storage systems.  相似文献

The reaction of [{Ir(cod)(μ‐Cl)}2] and K2CO3 or of [{Ir(cod)(μ‐OMe)}2] alone with the non‐natural tetrapyrrole 2,2′‐bidipyrrin (H2BDP) yields, depending on the stoichiometry, the mononuclear complex [Ir(cod)(HBDP)] or the homodinuclear complex [{Ir(cod)}2(BDP)]. Both complexes react readily with carbon monoxide to yield the species [Ir(CO)2(HBDP)] and [{Ir(CO)2}2(BDP)], respectively. The results from NMR spectroscopy and X‐ray diffraction reveal different conformations for the tetrapyrrolic ligand in both complexes. The reaction of [{Ir(coe)2(μ‐Cl)}2] with H2BDP proceeds differently and yields the macrocyclic [4e?,2H+]‐oxidized product [IrCl2(9‐Meic)] (9‐Meic = monoanion of 9‐methyl‐9,10‐isocorrole), which can be addressed as an iridium analog of cobalamin.  相似文献

The efficient and selective catalytic reduction of CO2 is a highly promising process for both of the storage of renewable energy as well as the production of valuable chemical feedstocks. In this work, we show that the addition of an ionic liquid, 1‐butyl‐3‐methylimidazolium tetrafluoroborate, in an aprotic electrolyte containing a proton source and FeTPP, promotes the in situ formation of the [Fe0TPP]2? homogeneous catalyst at a less negative potential, resulting in lower overpotentials for the CO2 reduction (670 mV) and increased kinetics of electron transfer. This co‐catalysis exhibits high Faradaic efficiency for CO production (93 %) and turnover number (2 740 000 after 4 hour electrolysis), with a four‐fold increase in turnover frequency (TOF) when compared with the standard system without the ionic liquid.  相似文献

We present herein a Cp*Co(III)‐half‐sandwich catalyst system for electrocatalytic CO2 reduction in aqueous acetonitrile solution. In addition to an electron‐donating Cp* ligand (Cp*=pentamethylcyclopentadienyl), the catalyst featured a proton‐responsive pyridyl‐benzimidazole‐based N,N‐bidentate ligand. Owing to the presence of a relatively electron‐rich Co center, the reduced Co(I)‐state was made prone to activate the electrophilic carbon center of CO2. At the same time, the proton‐responsive benzimidazole scaffold was susceptible to facilitate proton‐transfer during the subsequent reduction of CO2. The above factors rendered the present catalyst active toward producing CO as the major product over the other potential 2e/2H+ reduced product HCOOH, in contrast to the only known similar half‐sandwich CpCo(III)‐based CO2‐reduction catalysts which produced HCOOH selectively. The system exhibited a Faradaic efficiency (FE) of about 70% while the overpotential for CO production was found to be 0.78 V, as determined by controlled‐potential electrolysis.  相似文献

This work investigates the photoinduced energy transfer from poly(N‐vinylcarbazole) (PVK), as a donor material, to fac‐(2,2′‐bipyridyl)Re(CO)3Cl, as a catalyst acceptor, for its potential application towards CO2 reduction. Photoluminescence quenching experiments reveal dynamic quenching through resonance energy transfer in solid donor/acceptor mixtures and in solid/liquid systems. The bimolecular reaction rate constant at solution–film interfaces for the elementary reaction of the excited state with the quencher material could be determined as 8.8(±1.4)×1011 L mol?1 s?1 by using Stern–Volmer analysis. This work shows that PVK is an effective and cheap absorber material that can act efficiently as a redox photosensitizer in combination with fac‐(2,2′‐bipyridyl)Re(CO)3Cl as a catalyst acceptor, which might lead to possible applications in photocatalytic CO2 reduction.  相似文献

Preparing efficient and robust water oxidation catalyst (WOC) with inexpensive materials remains a crucial challenge in artificial photosynthesis and for renewable energy. Existing heterogeneous WOCs are mostly metal oxides/hydroxides immobilized on solid supports. Herein we report a newly synthesized and structurally characterized metal–organic hybrid compound [{Co33‐OH)(BTB)2(dpe)2} {Co(H2O)4(DMF)2}0.5]n?n H2O ( Co‐WOC‐1 ) as an effective and stable water‐oxidation electrocatalyst in an alkaline medium. In the crystal structure of Co‐WOC‐1 , a mononuclear CoII complex {Co(H2O)4(DMF)2}2+ is encapsulated in the void space of a 3D framework structure and this translationally rigid complex cation is responsible for a remarkable electrocatalytic WO activity, with a catalytic turnover frequency (TOF) of 0.05 s?1 at an overpotential of 390 mV (vs. NHE) in 0.1 m KOH along with prolonged stability. This host–guest system can be described as a “ship‐in‐a‐bottle”, and is a new class of heterogeneous WOC.  相似文献

In the present study, we report the synthesis of a high‐quality, single‐crystal hexagonal β‐Co(OH)2 nanosheet, exhibiting a thickness down to ten atomic layers and an aspect ratio exceeding 900, by using graphene oxide (GO) as an exfoliant of β‐Co(OH)2 nanoflowers. Unlike conventional approaches using ionic precursors in which morphological control is realized by structure‐directing molecules, the β‐Co(OH)2 flower‐like superstructures were first grown by a nanoparticle‐mediated crystallization process, which results in large 3D superstructure consisting of ultrathin nanosheets interspaced by polydimethoxyaniline (PDMA). Thereafter, β‐Co(OH)2 nanoflowers were chemically exfoliated by surface‐active GO under hydrothermal conditions into unilamellar single‐crystal nanosheets. In this reaction, GO acts as a two‐dimensional (2D) amphiphile to facilitate the exfoliation process through tailored interactions between organic and inorganic molecules. Meanwhile, the on‐site conjugation of GO and Co(OH)2 promotes the thermodynamic stability of freestanding ultrathin nanosheets and restrains further growth through Oswald ripening. The unique 2D structure combined with functionalities of the hybrid ultrathin Co(OH)2 nanosheets on rGO resulted in a remarkably enhanced lithium‐ion storage performance as anode materials, maintaining a reversible capacity of 860 mA h g?1 for as many as 30 cycles. Since mesocrystals are ubiquitous and rich in morphological diversity, the strategy of the GO‐assisted exfoliation of mesocrystals developed here provides an opportunity for the synthesis of new functional nanostructures that could bear importance in clean renewable energy, catalysis, photoelectronics, and photonics.  相似文献

Investigations on the reactivity of atomic clusters have led to the identification of the elementary steps involved in catalytic CO oxidation, a prototypical reaction in heterogeneous catalysis. The atomic oxygen species O.? and O2? bonded to early‐transition‐metal oxide clusters have been shown to oxidize CO. This study reports that when an Au2 dimer is incorporated within the cluster, the molecular oxygen species O22? bonded to vanadium can be activated to oxidize CO under thermal collision conditions. The gold dimer was doped into Au2VO4? cluster ions which then reacted with CO in an ion‐trap reactor to produce Au2VO3? and then Au2VO2?. The dynamic nature of gold in terms of electron storage and release promotes CO oxidation and O? O bond reduction. The oxidation of CO by atomic clusters in this study parallels similar behavior reported for the oxidation of CO by supported gold catalysts.  相似文献

Electrochemical CO2 reduction relies on the availability of highly efficient and selective catalysts. Herein, we report a general strategy to boost the activity of metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) towards CO2 reduction via ligand doping. A strong electron‐donating molecule of 1,10‐phenanthroline was doped into Zn‐based MOFs of zeolitic imidazolate framework‐8 (ZIF‐8) as CO2 reduction electrocatalyst. Experimental and theoretical evidences reveal that the electron‐donating nature of phenanthroline enables a charge transfer, which induces adjacent active sites at the sp2 C atoms in the imidazole ligand possessing more electrons, and facilitates the generation of *COOH, hence leading to improved activity and Faradaic efficiency towards CO production.  相似文献

Electrolyzers combining CO2 reduction (CO2R) with organic substrate oxidation can produce fuel and chemical feedstocks with a relatively low energy requirement when compared to systems that source electrons from water oxidation. Here, we report an anodic hybrid assembly based on a (2,2,6,6‐tetramethylpiperidin‐1‐yl)oxyl (TEMPO) electrocatalyst modified with a silatrane‐anchor ( STEMPO ), which is covalently immobilized on a mesoporous indium tin oxide (mesoITO) scaffold for efficient alcohol oxidation (AlcOx). This molecular anode was subsequently combined with a cathode consisting of a polymeric cobalt phthalocyanine on carbon nanotubes to construct a hybrid, precious‐metal‐free coupled AlcOx–CO2R electrolyzer. After three‐hour electrolysis, glycerol is selectively oxidized to glyceraldehyde with a turnover number (TON) of ≈1000 and Faradaic efficiency (FE) of 83 %. The cathode generated a stoichiometric amount of syngas with a CO:H2 ratio of 1.25±0.25 and an overall cobalt‐based TON of 894 with a FE of 82 %. This prototype device inspires the design and implementation of nonconventional strategies for coupling CO2R to less energy demanding, and value‐added, oxidative chemistry.  相似文献

The design of active, selective, and stable CO2 reduction electrocatalysts is still challenging. A series of atomically dispersed Co catalysts with different nitrogen coordination numbers were prepared and their CO2 electroreduction catalytic performance was explored. The best catalyst, atomically dispersed Co with two‐coordinate nitrogen atoms, achieves both high selectivity and superior activity with 94 % CO formation Faradaic efficiency and a current density of 18.1 mA cm?2 at an overpotential of 520 mV. The CO formation turnover frequency reaches a record value of 18 200 h?1, surpassing most reported metal‐based catalysts under comparable conditions. Our experimental and theoretical results demonstrate that lower a coordination number facilitates activation of CO2 to the CO2.? intermediate and hence enhances CO2 electroreduction activity.  相似文献

A strategy to covalently connect crystalline covalent organic frameworks (COFs) with semiconductors to create stable organic–inorganic Z‐scheme heterojunctions for artificial photosynthesis is presented. A series of COF–semiconductor Z‐scheme photocatalysts combining water‐oxidation semiconductors (TiO2, Bi2WO6, and α‐Fe2O3) with CO2 reduction COFs (COF‐316/318) was synthesized and exhibited high photocatalytic CO2‐to‐CO conversion efficiencies (up to 69.67 μmol g?1 h?1), with H2O as the electron donor in the gas–solid CO2 reduction, without additional photosensitizers and sacrificial agents. This is the first report of covalently bonded COF/inorganic‐semiconductor systems utilizing the Z‐scheme applied for artificial photosynthesis. Experiments and calculations confirmed efficient semiconductor‐to‐COF electron transfer by covalent coupling, resulting in electron accumulation in the cyano/pyridine moieties of the COF for CO2 reduction and holes in the semiconductor for H2O oxidation, thus mimicking natural photosynthesis.  相似文献

The photophysical and photochemical properties of (OC‐6‐33)‐(2,2′‐bipyridine‐κN1,κN1′)tricarbonyl(9,10‐dihydro‐9,10‐dioxoanthracene‐2‐carboxylato‐κO)rhenium (fac‐[ReI(aq‐2‐CO2)(2,2′‐bipy)(CO)3]) were investigated and compared to those of the free ligand 9,10‐dihydro‐9,10‐dioxoanthracene‐2‐carboxylate (=anthraquinone‐2‐carboxylate) and other carboxylato complexes containing the (2,2′‐bipyridine)tricarbonylrhenium ([Re(2,2′‐bipy)(CO)3]) moiety. Flash and steady‐state irradiations of the anthraquinone‐derived ligand (λexc 337 or 351 nm) and of its complex reveal that the photophysics of the latter is dominated by processes initiated in the Re‐to‐(2,2′‐bipyridine) charge‐transfer excited state and 2,2′‐bipyridine‐ and (anthraquinone‐2‐carboxylato)‐centered intraligand excited states. In the reductive quenching by N,N‐diethylethanamine (TEA) or 2,2′,2″‐nitrilotris[ethanol] TEOA, the reactive states are the 2,2′‐bipyridine‐centered and/or the charge‐transfer excited states. The species with a reduced anthraquinone moiety is formed by the following intramolecular electron transfer, after the redox quenching of the excited state: [ReI(aq−2−CO2)(2,2′‐bipy.)(CO)3]⇌[ReI(aq−2−CO2.)(2,2′‐bipy)(CO)3] The photophysics, particularly the absence of a ReI‐to‐anthraquinone charge‐transfer excited state photochemistry, is discussed in terms of the electrochemical and photochemical results.  相似文献

The electrochemical CO2 reduction reaction (CO2RR) to yield synthesis gas (syngas, CO and H2) has been considered as a promising method to realize the net reduction in CO2 emission. However, it is challenging to balance the CO2RR activity and the CO/H2 ratio. To address this issue, nitrogen‐doped carbon supported single‐atom catalysts are designed as electrocatalysts to produce syngas from CO2RR. While Co and Ni single‐atom catalysts are selective in producing H2 and CO, respectively, electrocatalysts containing both Co and Ni show a high syngas evolution (total current >74 mA cm?2) with CO/H2 ratios (0.23–2.26) that are suitable for typical downstream thermochemical reactions. Density functional theory calculations provide insights into the key intermediates on Co and Ni single‐atom configurations for the H2 and CO evolution. The results present a useful case on how non‐precious transition metal species can maintain high CO2RR activity with tunable CO/H2 ratios.  相似文献

Reduction of CO2 by direct one‐electron activation is extraordinarily difficult because of the ?1.9 V reduction potential of CO2. Demonstrated herein is reduction of aqueous CO2 to CO with greater than 90 % product selectivity by direct one‐electron reduction to CO2.? by solvated electrons. Illumination of inexpensive diamond substrates with UV light leads to the emission of electrons directly into water, where they form solvated electrons and induce reduction of CO2 to CO2.?. Studies using diamond were supported by studies using aqueous iodide ion (I?), a chemical source of solvated electrons. Both sources produced CO with high selectivity and minimal formation of H2. The ability to initiate reduction reactions by emitting electrons directly into solution without surface adsorption enables new pathways which are not accessible using conventional electrochemical or photochemical processes.  相似文献

Immobilization of planar CoII‐2,3‐naphthalocyanine (NapCo) complexes onto doped graphene resulted in a heterogeneous molecular Co electrocatalyst that was active and selective to reduce CO2 into CO in aqueous solution. A systematic study revealed that graphitic sulfoxide and carboxyl dopants of graphene were the efficient binding sites for the immobilization of NapCo through axial coordination and resulted in active Co sites for CO2 reduction. Compared to carboxyl dopants, the sulfoxide dopants further improved the electron communication between NapCo and graphene, which led to the increase of turnover frequency of the Co sites by about 3 times for CO production with a Faradic efficiency up to 97 %. Pristine NapCo in the absence of a graphene support did not display efficient electron communication with the electrode and thus failed to serve as the electrochemical active site for CO2 reduction under the identical conditions.  相似文献

High‐level ab initio and Born–Oppenheimer molecular dynamic calculations have been carried out on a series of hydroperoxyalkyl (α‐QOOH) radicals with the aim of investigating the stability and unimolecular decomposition mechanism into QO+OH of these species. Dissociation was shown to take place through rotation of the C?O(OH) bond rather than through elongation of the CO?OH bond. Through the C?O(OH) rotation, the unpaired electron of the radical overlaps with the electron density on the O?OH bond, and from this overlap the C=O π bond forms and the O?OH bond breaks spontaneously. The CH2OOH, CH(CH3)OOH, CH(OH)OOH, and α‐hydroperoxycycloheptadienyl radical were found to decompose spontaneously, but the CH(CHO)OOH has a decomposition energy barrier of 5.95 kcal mol?1 owing to its steric and electronic features. The systems studied in this work provide the first insights into how structural and electronic effects govern the stabilizing influence on elusive α‐QOOH radicals.  相似文献
