The crystal structures of three products of the reaction of 2‐phenylphenol and BCl3 have been determined. The structures show intriguing packing patterns and an interesting case of pseudosymmetry. In addition, one of the two polymorphs has a primitive monoclinic crystal system, but it is twinned and emulates an orthorhombic C‐centred structure. Tris(biphenyl‐2‐yl) borate, C36H27BO3, ( III ), crystallizes with only one molecule in the asymmetric unit. The dihedral angles between the planes of the aromatic rings in the biphenyl moieties are 50.47 (13), 44.95 (13) and 42.60 (13)°. The boron centre is in a trigonal planar coordination with two of the biphenyl residues on one side of the BO3 plane and the remaining biphenyl residue on the other side. One polymorph of 10‐oxa‐9‐boraphenanthren‐9‐ol, C12H9BO2, ( V a ), crystallizes with two almost identical molecules (r.m.s. deviation of all non‐H atoms = 0.039 Å) in the asymmetric unit. All non‐H atoms lie in a common plane (r.m.s. deviation = 0.015 Å for both molecules in the asymmetric unit). The two molecules in the asymmetric unit are connected into dimers via O—H...O hydrogen bonds. A second polymorph of 10‐oxa‐9‐boraphenanthren‐9‐ol, ( V b ), crystallizes as a pseudo‐merohedral twin with two almost identical molecules (r.m.s. deviation of all non‐H atoms = 0.035 Å) in the asymmetric unit. All non‐H atoms lie in a common plane (r.m.s. deviation = 0.012 Å for molecule 1 and 0.014 Å for molecule A). Each of the two molecules in the asymmetric unit is connected into a centrosymmetric dimer via O—H...O hydrogen bonds. The main difference between the two polymorphic structures is that in ( V a ) the two molecules in the asymmetric unit are hydrogen bonded to each other, whereas in ( V b ), each molecule in the asymmetric unit forms a hydrogen‐bonded dimer with its centrosymmetric equivalent. 9‐[(Biphenyl‐2‐yl)oxy]‐10‐oxa‐9‐boraphenanthrene, C24H17BO2, ( VI ), crystallizes with four molecules in the asymmetric unit. The main differences between them are the dihedral angles between the ring planes. Apart from the biphenyl moiety, all non‐H atoms lie in a common plane (r.m.s. deviations = 0.026, 0.0231, 0.019 and 0.033 Å for molecules 1, A, B and C, respectively). This structure shows pseudosymmetry; molecules 1 and A, as well as molecules B and C, are related by a pseudo‐translation of about in the direction of the b axis. Molecules 1 and B, as well as molecules A and C, are related by a pseudo‐inversion centre at ,,. Neither between molecules 1 and C nor between molecules A and B can pseudosymmetry be found.  相似文献

Alkanolamines have been known for their high CO2 absorption for over 60 years and are used widely in the natural gas industry for reversible CO2 capture. In an attempt to crystallize a salt of (RS)‐2‐(3‐benzoylphenyl)propionic acid with 2‐amino‐2‐methylpropan‐1‐ol, we obtained instead a polymorph (denoted polymorph II) of bis(1‐hydroxy‐2‐methylpropan‐2‐aminium) carbonate, 2C4H12NO+·CO32−, (I), suggesting that the amine group of the former compound captured CO2 from the atmosphere forming the aminium carbonate salt. This new polymorph was characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction analysis at low temperature (100 K). The salt crystallizes in the monoclinic system (space group C2/c, Z = 4), while a previously reported form of the same salt (denoted polymorph I) crystallizes in the triclinic system (space group P, Z = 2) [Barzagli et al. (2012). ChemSusChem, 5 , 1724–1731]. The asymmetric unit of polymorph II contains one 1‐hydroxy‐2‐methylpropan‐2‐aminium cation and half a carbonate anion, located on a twofold axis, while the asymmetric unit of polymorph I contains two cations and one anion. These polymorphs exhibit similar structural features in their three‐dimensional packing. Indeed, similar layers of an alternating cation–anion–cation neutral structure are observed in their molecular arrangements. Within each layer, carbonate anions and 1‐hydroxy‐2‐methylpropan‐2‐aminium cations form planes bound to each other through N—H…O and O—H…O hydrogen bonds. In both polymorphs, the layers are linked to each other via van der Waals interactions and C—H…O contacts. In polymorph II, a highly directional C—H…O contact (C—H…O = 156°) shows as a hydrogen‐bonding interaction. Periodic theoretical density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicate that both polymorphs present very similar stabilities.  相似文献

A new polymorph (denoted polymorph II) of 3‐acetyl‐4‐hydroxy‐2H‐chromen‐2‐one, C11H8O4, was obtained unexpectedly during an attempt to recrystallize the compound from salt–melted ice, and the structure is compared with that of the original polymorph (denoted polymorph I) [Lyssenko & Antipin (2001). Russ. Chem. Bull. 50 , 418–431]. Strong intramolecular O—H...O hydrogen bonds are observed equally in the two polymorphs [O...O = 2.4263 (13) Å in polymorph II and 2.442 (1) Å in polymorph I], with a slight delocalization of the hydroxy H atom towards the ketonic O atom in polymorph II [H...O = 1.32 (2) Å in polymorph II and 1.45 (3) Å in polymorph I]. In both crystal structures, the packing of the molecules is dominated and stabilized by weak intermolecular C—H...O hydrogen bonds. Additional π–π stacking interactions between the keto–enol hydrogen‐bonded rings stabilize polymorph I [the centres are separated by 3.28 (1) Å], while polymorph II is stabilized by interactions between α‐pyrone rings, which are parallel to one another and separated by 3.670 (5) Å.  相似文献

N,N′‐Diethyl‐4‐nitrobenzene‐1,3‐diamine, C10H15N3O2, (I), crystallizes with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit, both of which are nearly planar. The molecules differ in the conformation of the ethylamine group trans to the nitro group. Both molecules contain intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds between the adjacent amine and nitro groups and are linked into one‐dimensional chains by intermolecular N—H...O hydrogen bonds. The chains are organized in layers parallel to (101) with separations of ca 3.4 Å between adjacent sheets. The packing is quite different from what was observed in isomeric 1,3‐bis(ethylamino)‐2‐nitrobenzene. 2,6‐Bis(ethylamino)‐3‐nitrobenzonitrile, C11H14N4O2, (II), differs from (I) only in the presence of the nitrile functionality between the two ethylamine groups. Compound (II) crystallizes with one unique molecule in the asymmetric unit. In contrast with (I), one of the ethylamine groups, which is disordered over two sites with occupancies of 0.75 and 0.25, is positioned so that the methyl group is directed out of the plane of the ring by approximately 85°. This ethylamine group forms an intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond with the adjacent nitro group. The packing in (II) is very different from that in (I). Molecules of (II) are linked by both intermolecular amine–nitro N—H...O and amine–nitrile N—H...N hydrogen bonds into a two‐dimensional network in the (10) plane. Alternating molecules are approximately orthogonal to one another, indicating that π–π interactions are not a significant factor in the packing. Bis(4‐ethylamino‐3‐nitrophenyl) sulfone, C16H18N4O6S, (III), contains the same ortho nitro/ethylamine pairing as in (I), with the position para to the nitro group occupied by the sulfone instead of a second ethylamine group. Each 4‐ethylamino‐3‐nitrobenzene moiety is nearly planar and contains the typical intramolecular N—H...O hydrogen bond. Due to the tetrahedral geometry about the S atom, the molecules of (III) adopt an overall V shape. There are no intermolecular amine–nitro hydrogen bonds. Rather, each amine H atom has a long (H...O ca 2.8 Å) interaction with one of the sulfone O atoms. Molecules of (III) are thus linked by amine–sulfone N—H...O hydrogen bonds into zigzag double chains running along [001]. Taken together, these structures demonstrate that small changes in the functionalization of ethylamine–nitroarenes cause significant differences in the intermolecular interactions and packing.  相似文献

The title compound, C15H16NS+·C2H3O2, has been crystallized as both a pure enantiomer (1S,5R) and a racemate. The racemate crystallizes in the space group Cc, with molecules of opposite handedness related to each other by the action of the c‐glide. The enantiomer is essentially isostructural with the racemate, except that the glide symmetry is violated by interchange of CH and CH2 groups within the seven‐membered ring. The space‐group symmetry is reduced to P1 with two molecules in the asymmetric unit. The enantiomer structure shows disorder of the thiophene ring for one of the molecules in the asymmetric unit. The major component of the disorder has the thiophene ring in the same position as in the racemate, but generates a higher‐energy molecular conformation. The minor disorder component has different intermolecular interactions but retains a more stable molecular conformation.  相似文献

Two polymorphs of the title compound, C5H5NO, (I), have been obtained from ethanol. One polymorph crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/c [henceforth (I)‐M], while the other crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca [henceforth (I)‐O]. In the two forms, the lattice parameters, cell volume and packing motifs are very similar. There are also two independent molecules of 4‐pyridone in each asymmetric unit. The molecules are linked by N—H...O hydrogen bonds into one‐dimensional zigzag chains extending along the b axis in the (I)‐M polymorph and along the a axis in the (I)‐O polymorph, with the graph set C22(12). The structures are stabilized by weak C—H...O hydrogen bonds linking adjacent chains, thus forming a ring with the graph set R65(28). The significance of this study lies in the analysis of the hydrogen‐bond interactions occurring in these structures. Analyses of the crystal structures of the two polymorphs of 4‐pyridone are helpful in elucidating the mechanism of the generation of spectroscopic effects observed in the IR spectra of these polymorphs in the frequency range of the N—H stretching vibration band.  相似文献

The title compound, C17H13NO4, crystallizes in two polymorphic forms, each with two molecules in the asymmetric unit and in the monoclinic space group P21/c. All of the molecules have intramolecular hydrogen bonds involving the amide group. The amide N atoms act as donors to the carbonyl group of the pyrone and also to the methoxy group of the benzene ring. The carbonyl O atom of the amide group acts as an acceptor of the β and β′ C atoms belonging to the aromatic rings. These intramolecular hydrogen bonds have a profound effect on the molecular conformation. In one polymorph, the molecules in the asymmetric unit are linked to form dimers by weak C—H...O interactions. In the other, the molecules in the asymmetric unit are linked by a single weak C—H...O hydrogen bond. Two of these units are linked to form centrosymmetric tetramers by a second weak C—H...O interaction. Further interactions of this type link the molecules into chains, so forming a three‐dimensional network. These interactions in both polymorphs are supplemented by π–π interactions between the chromone rings and between the chromone and methoxyphenyl rings.  相似文献

Two polymorphs of 20‐desmethyl‐β‐carotene (systematic name: 20‐nor‐β,β‐carotene), C39H54, in monoclinic and triclinic space groups, were formed in the same vial by recrystallization from pyridine and water. Each polymorph crystallizes with the complete molecule as the asymmetric unit, and the two polymorphs show differing patterns of disorder. The β end rings of both polymorphs have the 6‐scis conformation, and are twisted out of the plane of the polyene chain by angles of −53.2 (8) and 47.3 (8)° for the monoclinic polymorph, and −43.6 (3) and 56.1 (3)° for the triclinic polymorph. The cyclohexene end groups are in the half‐chair conformation, but the triclinic polymorph shows disorder of one ring. Overlay of the molecules shows that they differ in the degree of nonplanarity of the polyene chains and the angles of twist of the end rings. The packing arrangements of the two polymorphs are quite different, with the monoclinic polymorph showing short intermolecular contacts of the disordered methyl groups with adjacent polyene chain atoms, and the triclinic polymorph showing π–π stacking interactions of the almost parallel polyene chains. The determination of the crystal structures of the two title polymorphs of 20‐desmethyl‐β‐carotene allows information to be gained regarding the structural effects on the polyene chain, as well as on the end groups, versus that of the parent compound β‐carotene. The absence of the methyl group is known to have an impact on various functions of the title compound.  相似文献

A new polymorph (form II) is reported for the 1:1 dimethyl sulfoxide solvate of 2,3,5,6‐tetrafluoro‐1,4‐diiodobenzene (TFDIB·DMSO or C6F4I2·C2H6SO). The structure is similar to that of a previously reported polymorph (form I) [Britton (2003). Acta Cryst. E 59 , o1332–o1333], containing layers of TFDIB molecules with DMSO molecules between, accepting I…O halogen bonds from two TFDIB molecules. Re‐examination of form I over the temperature range 300–120 K shows that it undergoes a phase transformation around 220 K, where the DMSO molecules undergo re‐orientation and become ordered. The unit cell expands by ca 0.5 Å along the c axis and contracts by ca 1.0 Å along the a axis, and the space‐group symmetry is reduced from Pnma to P212121. Refinement of form I against data collected at 220 K captures the (average) structure of the crystal prior to the phase transformation, with the DMSO molecules showing four distinct disorder components, corresponding to an overlay of the 297 and 120 K structures. Assessment of the intermolecular interaction energies using the PIXEL method indicates that the various orientations of the DMSO molecules have very similar total interaction energies with the molecules of the TFDIB framework. The phase transformation is driven by interactions between DMSO molecules, whereby re‐orientation at lower temperature yields significantly closer and more stabilizing interactions between neighbouring DMSO molecules, which lock in an ordered arrangement along the shortened a axis.  相似文献

In the monoclinic δ polymorph of d ‐mannitol, C6H14O6, both the molecule and the packing have approximate twofold rotational symmetry. The P21 structure thus approximates space group C2221, and the α′ polymorph, previously reported in that space group, is almost certainly identical to the δ polymorph. However, torsion angles along the main backbone of the molecule deviate from twofold symmetry by as much as 7.4 (3)° and the hydrogen‐bonding pattern does not conform to the higher symmetry. The α polymorph reported here is identical to the previously reported κ polymorph, and the low‐temperature structure of the β polymorph agrees well with previously reported room‐temperature determinations. The range of C—O bond lengths over the three polymorphs is 1.428 (2)–1.437 (4) Å, and the range of C—C distances is 1.515 (4)–1.5406 (19) Å. The δ polymorph has the highest density of the three, both at room temperature and at 100 K.  相似文献

This study characterizes a new polymorph of the title compound, [CuCl(C18H15P)3], and analyses the influence of the extensive network of weak hydrogen‐bonding interactions in the generation of this different crystal structure. The compound crystallizes in the centrosymmetric space group C2/c with two crystallographically independent molecules per asymmetric unit, in contrast with the previously determined polymorph which crystallizes in the noncentrosymmetric space group P3 with three crystallographically independent molecules in the asymmetric unit, each with crystallographically imposed C3 symmetry [Gill, Mayerle, Welcker, Lewis, Ucko, Barton, Stowens & Lippard (1976). Inorg. Chem. 15 , 1155–1168]. The geometries of the two molecules of the title compound are very similar, with each having an approximately tetrahedral coordination around the central Cu atom and approximate Cs molecular symmetry. The molecules pack in chains parallel to the crystallographic b axis, connected by C—H...Cl and C—H...π(phenyl) hydrogen bonds.  相似文献

The title compound, 6‐methylsulfanyl‐1‐(3‐phenylpropyl)‐4,5‐dihydro‐1H‐pyrazolo[3,4‐d]pyrimidin‐4‐one, C15H16N4OS, crystallizes in space group Pbca, with two molecules of similar structure in the asymmetric unit. The molecular structure shows the absence of intramolecular stacking in the crystalline state, as indicated by earlier 1H NMR analysis in solution. In addition, the crystal packing reveals the formation of a layered structure, due mainly to intermolecular N—H?O=C hydrogen bonding and arene–arene interactions.  相似文献

The title compound, C7H4N2O6, (I), crystallizes in P with Z′ = 4, but with no approximate or pseudosymmetry. The crystals were nonmerohedrally twinned, with at least four twin components related to the major moiety by 180° rotations around the real b and c axes, and by 180° rotation around the a* axis. The excessive twinning is not caused by a phase change from an untwinned room‐temperature higher‐symmetry polymorph. The molecules are planar chiral and, owing to the tilt angle of the nitro groups and the position of protonation, there are altogether eight conformers possible. Six of these theoretically possible eight conformers are realized in the solid‐state structure of (I). Packing analysis and force‐field calculations indicate that the largest part of the packing interactions does not originate from the hydrogen‐bonding interactions, as one might initially be tempted to assume; π–π stacking and Onitro...π interactions between neighboring molecules of (I) seem to be the dominant factor that determines the packing observed in the structure of this nitro‐substituted benzoic acid derivative.  相似文献

Thalassemia is a genetic blood disorder requiring life‐long blood transfusions. This process often results in iron overload and can be treated by an iron‐chelating agent, like deferiprone (3‐hydroxy‐1,2‐dimethylpyridin‐4‐one), C7H9NO2, in an oral formulation. The first crystal structure of deferiprone, (Ia), was reported in 1988 [Nelson et al. (1988). Can. J. Chem. 66 , 123–131]. In the present study, two novel polymorphic forms, (Ib) and (Ic), of deferiprone were identified concomitantly with polymorph (Ia) during the crystallization experiments. Polymorph (Ia) was redetermined at low temperature for comparison of the structural features and lattice energy values with polymorphs (Ib) and (Ic). Polymorph (Ia) crystallized in the orthorhombic space group Pbca, whereas both polymorphs (Ib) and (Ic) crystallized in the monoclinic space group P21/c. The asymmetric units of (Ia) and (Ib) contain one deferiprone molecule, while polymorph (Ic) has three crystallographically independent molecules (A, B and C). All three polymorphs have similar hydrogen‐bonding features, such as an R22(10) dimer formed by O—H…O hydrogen bonds, an R43(20) tetramer formed by C—H…O hydrogen bonds and π–π interactions, but the polymorphs differ in their molecular arrangements in the solid state and are classified as packing polymorphs. O—H…O and C—H…O hydrogen bonds lead to the formation of two‐dimensional hydrogen‐bonded parallel sheets which are interlinked by π–π stacking interactions. In the three‐dimensional crystal packing, the deferiprone molecules were aggregated as corrugated sheets in polymorphs (Ia) and (Ic), whereas in polymorph (Ib), they were aggregated as a square‐grid network. The characteristic crystalline peaks of polymorphs (Ia), (Ib) and (Ic) were established through powder X‐ray diffraction analysis. The Rietveld analysis was also performed to estimate the contribution of the polymorphs to the bulk material.  相似文献

6‐Bromoindigo (MBI) [systematic name: 6‐bromo‐2‐(3‐oxo‐2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐indol‐2‐ylidene)‐2,3‐dihydro‐1H‐indol‐3‐one], C16H9BrN2O2, crystallizes with one disordered molecule in the asymmetric unit about a pseudo‐inversion center, as shown by the Br‐atom disorder of 0.682 (3):0.318 (3). The 18 indigo ring atoms occupy two sites which are displaced by 0.34 Å from each other as a result of this packing disorder. This difference in occupancy factors results in each atom in the reported model used to represent the two disordered sites being 0.08 Å from the higher‐occupancy site and 0.26 Å from the lower‐occupancy site. Thus, as a result of the disorder, the C—Br bond lengths in the disordered components are 0.08 and 0.26 Å shorter than those found in 6,6′‐dibromoindigo (DBI) [Süsse & Krampe (1979). Naturwissenschaften, 66 , 110], although the distances within the indigo ring are similar to those found in DBI. The crystals are also twinned by merohedry. Stacking interactions and hydrogen bonds are similar to those found in the structures of indigo and DBI. In MBI, an interaction of the type C—Br...C replaces the C—Br...Br interactions found in DBI. The interactions in MBI were calculated quantum mechanically using density functional theory and the quantum theory of atoms in molecules.  相似文献

The crystal structure of the title compound, [Cr(C5H7O2)3], has been determined at 290 and 110 K to provide information on thermal vibrations and disorder. The α polymorph at room temperature has been reported [Morosin (1965). Acta Cryst. 19 , 131–137]. The reinvestigation of this structure, presented here, indicates the presence of weak uninterpretable supercell reflections together with disorder streaks. The discussed structure can thus be considered as an average structure. After cooling to 110 K, a new δ polymorph was found, which is a superstructure of the α polymorph. The space group remains P21/c and the phase transition can therefore be considered as klassengleich. The unit‐cell volume increases by a factor of six, resulting in six independent molecules in the asymmetric unit.  相似文献

The title compounds, 3,5,7‐triphenyl‐1,2‐diazacyclohepta‐1(7),2‐diene, C23H20N2, (I), and 3,7‐bis(2‐hydroxyphenyl)‐5‐phenyl‐1,2‐diazacyclohepta‐1(7),2‐diene, C23H20N2O2, (II), constitute the first structurally characterized examples of seven‐membered heterocycles with 1,2‐diaza ring N atoms. Compound (I) crystallizes in the space group P, with two independent molecules in the asymmetric unit that differ in the conformation of one of the phenyl rings, while (II) crystallizes in the space group C2/c. The C5N2 ring in each of (I) and (II) adopts a twist‐boat conformation. Compound (I) exhibits neither C—H...π interactions nor π–π stacking interactions, whereas (II) shows both intramolecular O—H...N hydrogen bonds and a C—H...π interaction that joins the molecules into an infinite chain in the [010] direction.  相似文献

5‐Methylsulfanyl‐1H‐tetrazole, C2H4N4S, crystallizes in dimorphic forms; the α‐form crystallizes at room temperature in the monoclinic crystal system, space group P21/m, and the β‐form crystallizes by sublimation at 423 K in the orthorhombic crystal system, space group Pbcm. In both forms, the molecules occupy crystallographic mirror planes and are connected to one another via N—H⋯N hydrogen bonds, the amino H atoms being disordered. The two forms differ from one another in their packing; there are polar layers in the α‐form and non‐polar layers in the β‐form.  相似文献

The title achiral compound, C35H34O7, crystallizes in the chiral monoclinic space group P21. The molecules are densely packed to form a helical assembly along the crystallographic twofold screw axis via C—H...O and C—H...π interactions. Interestingly, the unit‐translated helical chains are loosely connected via a rather uncommon edge‐to‐edge Ph—H...H—Ph short contact (H...H = 2.33 Å).  相似文献

Two different forms of meso‐3,3′‐[2,2‐dimethylpropane‐1,3‐diylbis(azanediyl)]dibutan‐2‐one dioxime, commonly called meso‐hexamethyl propylene amine oxime (HMPAO), C13H28N4O2, designated α and β, were isolated by fractional crystallization and their crystal structures were determined by powder X‐ray diffraction using the direct‐space method with the parallel tempering algorithm. The α form was first crystallized from acetonitrile solution, while the β form was obtained by recrystallization of the α phase from diethyl ether. The α form crystallizes in the triclinic system (space group P), with one molecule in the asymmetric unit, while the crystal of the β form is monoclinic (space group P21/n), with one molecule in the asymmetric unit. In both phases, the molecules have similar conformations and RS/EE geometric isomerism. The crystal packing of the two phases is dominated by intermolecular hydrogen‐bonding interactions between the two O—H oxime groups of an individual molecule and the amine N atoms of two different adjacent molecules, which lead to segregation of extended poly(meso‐HMPAO) one‐dimensional chains along the c direction. The structures of the two phases are primarily different due to the different orientations of the molecules in the chains.  相似文献
