A thorough computational exploration of the mechanistic intricacies of the intermolecular hydroamination (HA) of vinylarenes by a recently reported class of kinetically stabilised iminoanilide [{N^N}Ae{N(SiMe3)2} ? (THF)n] alkaline‐earth amido compounds (Ae=Ca, Sr, Ba) is presented. Two distinct mechanistic pathways for catalytic HA mediated by alkaline‐earth and rare‐earth compounds have emerged over the years that account equally well for the specific features of the process. On one hand, a concerted proton‐assisted pathway to deliver the amine product in a single step can be invoked and, on the other, a stepwise σ‐insertive pathway that comprises a rapid, reversible migratory olefin insertion step linked to a less facile, irreversible Ae?C alkyl bond aminolysis. The results of the study presented herein, which employed a heavily benchmarked and reliable DFT methodology, supports a stepwise σ‐insertive pathway that involves fast and reversible migratory C?C bond insertion into the polar Ae?N pyrrolido σ bond. This proceeds with strict 2,1 regioselectivity via a highly polarised four‐centre transition state (TS) structure, linked to irreversible intramolecular Ae?C bond aminolysis of the alkaline‐earth alkyl intermediate as the energetically favourable mechanism. Turnover‐limiting aminolysis is consistent with the significant KIE measured; the DFT‐derived effective barrier matches the Eyring parameter empirically determined for the best‐performing {N^N}Ba(NR2) catalyst gratifyingly well. It also predicts the observed trend in reactivity (Ca<Sr<Ba) correctly and the computationally estimated primary KIE is close to the observed values. Non‐competitive kinetic demands militate against the operation of the alternative concerted proton‐assisted pathway, which describes N?C bond formation triggered by concomitant amino proton transfer at the C?C linkage via a multi‐centre TS structure. A detailed comparison of {N^N}Ae(NR2) catalysts revealed that the variation in the Ae?pyrrolido bond strength together with the degree of protection of the alkaline earth by a sterically encumbering iminoanilide ligand scaffold not only profoundly influences the performance in HA catalysis, but also the likelihood of traversing rival mechanistic pathways.  相似文献

Double deprotonation of the diamine 1,1′‐(tBuCH2NH)‐ferrocene ( 1 ‐H2) by alkaline‐earth (Ae) or EuII metal reagents gave the complexes 1 ‐Ae (Ae=Mg, Ca, Sr, Ba) and 1 ‐Eu. 1 ‐Mg crystallized as a monomer while the heavier complexes crystallized as dimers. The Fe???Mg distance in 1 ‐Mg is too long for a bonding interaction, but short Fe???Ae distances in 1 ‐Ca, 1 ‐Sr, and 1 ‐Ba clearly support intramolecular Fe???Ae bonding. Further evidence for interactions is provided by a tilting of the Cp rings and the related 1H NMR chemical‐shift difference between the Cp α and β protons. While electrochemical studies are complicated by complex decomposition, UV/Vis spectral features of the complexes support Fe→Ae dative bonding. A comprehensive bonding analysis of all 1 ‐Ae complexes shows that the heavier species 1 ‐Ca, 1 ‐Sr, and 1 ‐Ba possess genuine Fe→Ae bonds which involve vacant d‐orbitals of the alkaline‐earth atoms and partially filled d‐orbitals on Fe. In 1 ‐Mg, a weak Fe→Mg donation into vacant p‐orbitals of the Mg atom is observed.  相似文献

A comprehensive computational exploration of plausible alternative mechanistic pathways for the intramolecular hydroamination (HA) of aminoalkenes by a recently reported class of kinetically stabilised iminoanilide alkaline‐earth silylamido compounds [{N^N}Ae{N(SiMe3)2} ? (thf)n] ({N^N}=iminoanilide; Ae=Ca, Sr, Ba) is presented. On the one hand, a proton‐assisted concerted N?C/C?H bond‐forming pathway to afford the cycloamine in a single step can be invoked and on the other hand, a stepwise σ‐insertive pathway that involves a fast, reversible migratory olefin 1,2‐insertion step linked to a less rapid, irreversible metal?C azacycle tether σ‐bond aminolysis. Notably, these alternative mechanistic avenues are equally consistent with reported key experimental features. The present study, which employs a thoroughly benchmarked and reliable DFT methodology, supports the prevailing mechanism to be a stepwise σ‐insertive pathway that sees an initial conversion of the {N^N}Ae silylamido into the catalytically competent {N^N}Ae amidoalkene compound and involves thereafter facile and reversible insertive N?C bond‐forming ring closure, linked to irreversible intramolecular Ae?C tether σ‐bond aminolysis at the transient {N^N}Ae alkyl intermediate. Turnover‐limiting protonolysis accounts for the substantial primary kinetic isotope effect observed; its DFT‐derived barrier satisfactorily matches the empirically determined Eyring parameter and predicts the decrease in rate observed across the series Ca>Sr>Ba correctly. Non‐competitive kinetic demands militate against the operation of the concerted proton‐assisted pathway, which describes N?C bond‐forming ring closure triggered by concomitant amino proton delivery at the C?C linkage evolving through a multi‐centre TS structure. Valuable insights into the catalytic structure–activity relationships are unveiled by a detailed comparison of [{N^N}Ae(NHR)] catalysts. Moreover, the intriguingly opposite trends in reactivity observed in intramolecular (Ca>Sr>Ba) and intermolecular (Ca<Sr<Ba) HA catalysis for the studied family of iminoanilide alkaline‐earth amido catalysts are rationalised.  相似文献

An N‐heterocyclic carbene substituted by two expanded 9‐ethyl‐9‐fluorenyl groups was shown to bind an AuCl unit in an unusual manner, namely with the Au?X rod sitting out of the plane defined by the heterocyclic carbene unit. As shown by X‐ray studies and DFT calculations, the observed large pitch angle (21°) arises from an easy displacement of the gold(I) atom away from the carbene lone‐pair axis, combined with the stabilisation provided by weak CH???Au interactions involving aliphatic and aromatic H atoms of the NHC wingtips. Weak, intermolecular Cl???H bonds are likely to cooperate with the H???Au interactions to stabilise the out‐of‐plane conformation. A general belief until now was that tilt angles in NHC complexes arise mainly from steric effects within the first coordination sphere.  相似文献

The notion of weak attractive ligand–polymer interactions is introduced, and its potential application, importance, and conceptual links with “cooperative” ligand–substrate interactions are discussed. Synthetic models of weak attractive ligand–polymer interactions are described, in which intramolecular weak C? H???F? C interactions (the existence of which remains contentious) have been detected by NMR spectroscopy and neutron and X‐ray diffraction experiments. These C? H???F? C interactions carry important implications for the design of catalysts for olefin polymerization, because they provide support for the practical feasibility of ortho‐F???Hβ ligand–polymer contacts proposed for living Group 4 fluorinated phenoxyimine catalysts. The notion of weak attractive noncovalent interactions between an “active” ligand and the growing polymer chain is a novel concept in polyolefin catalysis.  相似文献

The thiourea S,S‐dioxide molecule is recognized as a zwitterion with a high dipole moment and an unusually long C? S bond. The molecule has a most interesting set of intermolecular interactions in the crystalline state—a relatively strong O???H? N hydrogen bond and very weak intermolecular C???S and N???O interactions. The molecule has Cs symmetry, and each oxygen atom is hydrogen‐bonded to two hydrogen atoms with O???H? N distances of 2.837 and 2.826 Å and angles of 176.61 and 158.38°. The electron density distribution is obtained both from Xray diffraction data at 110 K and from a periodic density functional theory (DFT) calculation. Bond characterization is made in terms of the analysis of topological properties. The covalent characters of the C? N, N? H, C? S, and S? O bonds are apparent, and the agreement on the topological properties between experiment and theory is adequate. The features of the Laplacian distributions, bond paths, and atomic domains are comparable. In a systematic approach, DFT calculations are performed based on a monomer, a dimer, a heptamer, and a crystal to see the effect on the electron density distribution due to the intermolecular interactions. The dipole moment of the molecule is enhanced in the solid state. The typical values of ρb and Hb of the hydrogen bonds and weak intermolecular C???S and N???O interactions are given. All the interactions are verified by the location of the bond critical point and its associated topological properties. The isovalue surface of Laplacian charge density and the detailed atomic graph around each atomic site reveal the shape of the valence‐shell charge concentration and provide a reasonable interpretation of the bonding of each atom.  相似文献

π‐Conjugated thienylene? phenylene oligomers with fluorinated and dialkoxylated phenylene fragments have been designed and prepared to understand the interactions in fragment orbitals, the influence of the substituents (F, OMe) on the HOMO–LUMO gap, and the role of intramolecular non‐covalent cumulative interactions in the construction of π‐conjugated nanostructures. Their strong conjugation was also evidenced in the gas phase by UV photoelectron spectroscopy and theoretical calculations. These results can be explained by the crucial role of the relative energetic positions of the π orbitals of the dimethoxyphenylene, which was used to model the dialkoxyphenylene entity, in determining the π/π* orbital levels of the fluorinated phenylene entity. Dialkoxyphenylenes raise the HOMO orbitals, whereas fluorinated phenylenes lower the LUMO orbitals in the oligomers. In addition, the presence of S???F and H???F interactions in the fluorinated phenylene? thienylene compounds add to the S???O interactions in the mixed targets and contribute to the full conjugation in the oligomer, inducing weak inter‐ring angles between the involved aromatic cycles. These results, which showed extended conjugation of the π system, were corroborated by a narrow HOMO–LUMO gap (according to DFT calculations) and by a relatively strong maximum wavelength (as obtained by TD‐DFT calculations and experimental UV/Vis measurements). The crystallographic data of two mixed thienylene? (fluorinated and dialkoxylated phenylene) five‐ring oligomers agree with the above results and show the formation of quasi‐planar conformations with non‐covalent S???O, H???F, and S???F interactions. These studies in the solid and gas phases show the relevance of associating dialkoxyphenylene and fluorinated phenylene fragments with thiophene to lead to oligomers with improved electronic delocalization for electronic or optoelectronic devices.  相似文献

The pentane σ‐complex [Rh{Cy2P(CH2CH2)PCy2}(η22‐C5H12)][BArF4] is synthesized by a solid/gas single‐crystal to single‐crystal transformation by addition of H2 to a precursor 1,3‐pentadiene complex. Characterization by low temperature single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction (150 K) and SSNMR spectroscopy (158 K) reveals coordination through two Rh???H?C interactions in the 2,4‐positions of the linear alkane. Periodic DFT calculations and molecular dynamics on the structure in the solid state provide insight into the experimentally observed Rh???H?C interaction, the extended environment in the crystal lattice and a temperature‐dependent pentane rearrangement implicated by the SSNMR data.  相似文献

Binding of novel biphene[n]arene hosts to antiaromatic 7,7,8,8‐tetracyanoquinodimethane (TCNQ) are investigated by DFT. Biphene[4]arene favors the inclusion complex through noncovalent interactions, such as hydrogen bonding, π–π stacking, C?H???π, and C?H???H?C dihydrogen bonding. Donor–acceptor complexation renders aromatic character to the guest through charge transfer. The formation of TCNQ anionic radicals through supramolecular π stacking significantly influences its chemical and photophysical behavior. Electron density reorganization consequent to encapsulation of TCNQ reflects in the shift of characteristic vibrations in the IR spectra. The accompanying aromaticities arising from the induced ring currents are analyzed by employing nucleus‐independent chemical shifts based profiles.  相似文献

Molecular recognition events in biological systems are driven by non‐covalent interactions between interacting species. Here, we have studied hydrogen bonds of the CH???Y type involving electron‐deficient CH donors using dispersion‐corrected density functional theory (DFT) calculations applied to acetylcholinesterase–ligand complexes. The strengths of CH???Y interactions activated by a proximal cation were considerably strong; comparable to or greater than those of classical hydrogen bonds. Significant differences in the energetic components compared to classical hydrogen bonds and non‐activated CH???Y interactions were observed. Comparison between DFT and molecular mechanics calculations showed that common force fields could not reproduce the interaction energy values of the studied hydrogen bonds. The presented results highlight the importance of considering CH???Y interactions when analysing protein–ligand complexes, call for a review of current force fields, and opens up possibilities for the development of improved design tools for drug discovery.  相似文献

Dimethyl‐3,6‐dichloro‐2,5‐dihydroxyterephthalate (MCHT) is known to exist in three differently packed crystals having three different colors, namely yellow (Y), light yellow (LY), and white (W). Apart from the difference in their color, the molecules in the crystals also differ in their intramolecular O?H???O and O?H???Cl hydrogen bonds. Time‐dependent DFT calculations reveal the role of the various types of hydrogen bonds in controlling the color of the polymorphs. Mechanistic pathways that lead to such transformations in the crystal are elucidated by solid‐state dispersion‐corrected DFT studies. Relative stabilities of the various polymorphs rationalize the experimentally observed transformations between them. Calculations reveal that the minimum‐energy pathway for the conversion of the Y form to a W form is through stepwise disrotatory motion of the two ?OH groups through a hybrid intermediate having one intramolecular O?H???O and one O?H???Cl bond. The LY form is shown to exist on the higher‐energy pathway involving a concerted Y→W transformation.  相似文献

A novel metal‐induced template for the self‐assembly of two independent phosphane ligands by means of unprecedented multiple noncovalent interactions (classical hydrogen bond, weak hydrogen bond, metal coordination, π‐stacking interaction) was developed and investigated. Our results address the importance and capability of weak hydrogen bonds (WHBs) as important attractive interactions in self‐assembling processes based on molecular recognition. Together with a classical hydrogen bond, WHBs may serve as promoters for the specific self‐assembly of complementary monomeric phosphane ligands into supramolecular hybrid structures. The formation of an intermolecular C? H???N hydrogen bond and its persistence in the solid state and in solution was studied by X‐ray crystal analysis, mass spectrometry and NMR spectroscopy analysis. Further evidence was demonstrated by DFT calculations, which gave specific geometric parameters for the proposed conformations and allowed us to estimate the energy involved in the hydrogen bonds that are responsible for the molecular recognition process. The presented template can be regarded as a new type of self‐assembled β‐turn mimic or supramolecular pseudo amino acid for the nucleation of β‐sheet structures when attached to oligopeptides.  相似文献

The reaction of the N‐thiophosphorylated thiourea (HOCH2)(Me)2CNHC(S)NHP(S)(OiPr)2 (HL), deprotonated by the thiophosphorylamide group, with NiCl2 leads to green needles of the pseudotetrahedral complex [Ni(L‐1,5‐S,S′)2] ? 0.5 (n‐C6H14) or pale green blocks of the trans square‐planar complex trans‐[Ni(L‐1,5‐S,S′)2]. The former complex is stabilized by homopolar dihydrogen C?H???H?C interactions formed by n‐hexane solvent molecules with the [Ni(L‐1,5‐S,S′)2] unit. Furthermore, the dispersion‐dominated C?H??? H?C interactions are, together with other noncovalent interactions (C?H???N, C?H???Ni, C?H???S), responsible for pseudotetrahedral coordination around the NiII center in [Ni(L ‐1,5‐S,S′)2] ? 0.5 (n‐C6H14).  相似文献

Alkyl-substituted η(5) -pentadienyl half-sandwich complexes of cobalt have been reported to undergo [5+2] cycloaddition reactions with alkynes to provide η(2) ,η(3) -cycloheptadienyl complexes under kinetic control. DFT studies have been used to elucidate the mechanism of the cyclization reaction as well as that of the subsequent isomerization to the final η(5) -cycloheptadienyl product. The initial cyclization is a stepwise process of olefin decoordination/alkyne capture, C?C bond formation, olefin arm capture, and a second C?C bond formation; the initial decoordination/capture step is rate-limiting. Once the η(2) ,η(3) -cycloheptadienyl complex has been formed, isomerization to η(5) -cycloheptadienyl again involves several steps: olefin decoordination, β-hydride elimination, reinsertion, and olefin coordination; also here the initial decoordination step is rate limiting. Substituents strongly affect the ease of reaction. Pentadienyl substituents in the 1- and 5-positions assist pentadienyl opening and hence accelerate the reaction, while substituents at the 3-position have a strongly retarding effect on the same step. Substituents at the alkyne (2-butyne vs. ethyne) result in much faster isomerization due to easier olefin decoordination. Paths involving triplet states do not appear to be competitive.  相似文献

A family of 16 isomolecular salts (3‐XpyH)2[MX′4] (3‐XpyH=3‐halopyridinium; M=Co, Zn; X=(F), Cl, Br, (I); X′=Cl, Br, I) each containing rigid organic cations and tetrahedral halometallate anions has been prepared and characterized by X‐ray single crystal and/or powder diffraction. Their crystal structures reflect the competition and cooperation between non‐covalent interactions: N? H???X′? M hydrogen bonds, C? X???X′? M halogen bonds and π–π stacking. The latter are essentially unchanged in strength across the series, but both halogen bonds and hydrogen bonds are modified in strength upon changing the halogens involved. Changing the organic halogen (X) from F to I strengthens the C? X???X′? M halogen bonds, whereas an analogous change of the inorganic halogen (X′) weakens both halogen bonds and N? H???X′? M hydrogen bonds. By so tuning the strength of the putative halogen bonds from repulsive to weak to moderately strong attractive interactions, the hierarchy of the interactions has been modified rationally leading to systematic changes in crystal packing. Three classes of crystal structure are obtained. In type A (C? F???X′? M) halogen bonds are absent. The structure is directed by N? H???X′? M hydrogen bonds and π‐stacking interactions. In type B structures, involving small organic halogens (X) and large inorganic halogens (X′), long (weak) C? X???X′? M interactions are observed with type I halogen–halogen interaction geometries (C? X???X′ ≈ X???X′? M ≈155°), but hydrogen bonds still dominate. Thus, minor but quite significant perturbations from the type A structure arise. In type C, involving larger organic halogens (X) and smaller inorganic halogens (X′), stronger halogen bonds are formed with a type II halogen–halogen interaction geometry (C? X???X′ ≈180°; X???X′? M ≈110°) that is electrostatically attractive. The halogen bonds play a major role alongside hydrogen bonds in directing the type C structures, which as a result are quite different from type A and B.  相似文献

The base‐controlled mechanisms for N‐heterocyclic carbene (NHC)‐catalyzed divergent [3+3] and [3+2] annulation reactions were examined by using the DFT method. The reaction initiates with the complexation of NHC and enal to give the Breslow intermediate, which diverges afterward. Then, the azomethine imine can either react with the Breslow intermediate to give the six‐membered ring product or the β‐carbon protonation occurs for forming the enolate intermediate controlled by different bases. The formed enolate intermediate reacts with azomethine imine to afford the five‐membered ring product. The calculated results show that only the base K2CO3 can facilitate the structural transformation between homoenolate and enolate to switch the chemoselectivity; therefore, the [3+3] annulation happens preferentially in the presence of base DBU while the other situation occurs with K2CO3 as base. The NCI analysis results reveal that the stereoselectivity is predominately determined by the π???π, C?H???O, and C?H???N interactions. The obtained mechanistic insights should provide valuable clues for the rational design of these kinds of divergent reactions.  相似文献

A study of the strong N?X????O?N+ (X=I, Br) halogen bonding interactions reports 2×27 donor×acceptor complexes of N‐halosaccharins and pyridine N‐oxides (PyNO). DFT calculations were used to investigate the X???O halogen bond (XB) interaction energies in 54 complexes. A simplified computationally fast electrostatic model was developed for predicting the X???O XBs. The XB interaction energies vary from ?47.5 to ?120.3 kJ mol?1; the strongest N?I????O?N+ XBs approaching those of 3‐center‐4‐electron [N?I?N]+ halogen‐bonded systems (ca. 160 kJ mol?1). 1H NMR association constants (KXB) determined in CDCl3 and [D6]acetone vary from 2.0×100 to >108 m ?1 and correlate well with the calculated donor×acceptor complexation enthalpies found between ?38.4 and ?77.5 kJ mol?1. In X‐ray crystal structures, the N‐iodosaccharin‐PyNO complexes manifest short interaction ratios (RXB) between 0.65–0.67 for the N?I????O?N+ halogen bond.  相似文献

Charge transport in organic semiconductors is strongly dependent on their molecular packing modes in the solid state. Therefore, understanding the relationship between molecular packing and charge transport is imperative, both experimentally and theoretically. However, so far, the fundamental effects of solid‐state packing and molecular interactions (e.g. N? H ??? π) on charge transport need further elucidation. Herein, indolo[3,2‐b]carbazole (ICZ) and a derivative thereof are used as examples to approach this scientific target. An interesting insight obtained thereby is that N? H ??? π interactions among ICZ molecules facilitate charge transport for higher mobility. Subtle changes in the of N? H ??? π interactions can significantly influence both the molecular packing and the charge‐transport properties. Therefore, a method for exploiting intermolecular N? H ??? π interactions would yield novel molecular systems with designable characteristics.  相似文献

The intramolecular hydrogen‐bonding interactions and properties of a series of nitroamino[1,3,5]triazine‐based guanidinium salts were studied by using the dispersion‐corrected density functional theory method (DFT‐D). Results show that there are evident LP(N or O; LP=lone pair)→σ*(N? H) orbital interactions related to O???H? N or N???H? N hydrogen bonds. Quantum theory of atoms in molecules (QTAIM) was applied to characterize the intramolecular hydrogen bonds. For the guanidinium salts studied, the intramolecular hydrogen bonds are associated with a seven‐ or eight‐membered pseudo‐ring. The guanylurea cation is more helpful for improving the thermal stabilities of the ionic salts than other guanidinium cations. The contributions of different substituents on the triazine ring to the thermal stability increase in the order of ? NO223 (? ONO2)2. Energy decomposition analysis shows that the salts are stable owing to electrostatic and orbital interactions between the ions, whereas the dispersion energy has very small contributions. Moreover, the salts exhibit relatively high densities in the range of 1.62–1.89 g cm?3. The detonation velocities and pressures lie in the range of 6.49–8.85 km s?1 and 17.79–35.59 GPa, respectively, which makes most of them promising explosives.  相似文献

Combined density functional and ab initio calculations are performed on two isomorphous tetranuclear {Ni3IIILnIII} star‐type complexes [Ln=Gd ( 1 ), Dy ( 2 )] to shed light on the mechanism of magnetic exchange in 1 and the origin of the slow magnetization relaxation in complex 2 . DFT calculations correctly reproduce the sign and magnitude of the J values compared to the experiments for complex 1 . Acute ?Ni?O?Gd bond angles present in 1 instigate a significant interaction between the 4fxyz orbital of the GdIII ion and 3d orbital of the NiII ions, leading to rare and strong antiferromagnetic Ni???Gd interactions. Calculations reveal the presence of a strong next‐nearest‐neighbour Ni???Ni antiferromagnetic interaction in complex 1 leading to spin frustration behavior. CASSCF+RASSI‐SO calculations performed on complex 2 suggest that the octahedral environment around the DyIII ion is neither strong enough to stabilize the mJ |±15/2〉 as the ground state nor able to achieve a large ground‐state–first‐excited‐state gap. The ground‐state Kramers doublet for the DyIII ion is found to be the mJ |±13/2〉 state with a significant transverse anisotropy, leading to very strong quantum tunneling of magnetization (QTM). Using the POLY_ANISO program, we have extracted the JNiDy interaction as ?1.45 cm?1. The strong Ni???Dy and next‐nearest‐neighbour Ni???Ni interactions are found to quench the QTM to a certain extent, resulting in zero‐field SMM behavior for complex 2 . The absence of any ac signals at zero field for the structurally similar [Dy(AlMe4)3] highlights the importance of both the Ni???Dy and the Ni???Ni interactions in the magnetization relaxation of complex 2 . To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time that the roles of both the Ni???Dy and Ni???Ni interactions in magnetization relaxation of a {3d–4f} molecular magnet have been established.  相似文献
