Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) are known to have efficient antimicrobial properties, but the direct application of Ag NPs onto the surface of textiles has shown to be ineffective and raise environmental concerns because Ag NPs leach out during washing. In this study, non-leaching and stable Ag-cotton nanocomposite fiber was produced by the in situ formation of Ag NPs inside the cotton fiber. The reported method is to introduce a nanofluidic system in alkali-swollen cotton fiber. Sequential flows of [Ag(NH3)2]+ and reductant aqueous fluids into the opened microfibrillar channels yielded a self-assembly of Ag ions on the deprotonated cellulose and subsequent nucleation and particle growth on the microfibrils. Transmission electron and field emission scanning electron microscopy images showed Ag NPs evenly dispersed throughout the entire cross-section of the fiber and their fixation onto the isolated secondary cell wall, respectively. Despite the rapid reduction reaction and the absence of a stabilizing agent, the successful formation of monodispersed Ag NPs (12 ± 3 nm) was attributed to the self-controlled function of the highly organized microfibrillar substructures, which regulated the transport and mixing of reactants. Incorporation of Ag NPs into the internal structure of the cotton fiber did not significantly influence the cotton crystalline structure.  相似文献

Titanium oxide (TiO2) nanoparticles (NPs) in their two forms, anatase and rutile, were synthesized and deposited onto the surface of cotton fabrics by using ultrasonic irradiation. The structure and morphology of the nanoparticles were analyzed by using characterization methods such as XRD, TEM, STEM, and EDS. The antimicrobial activities of the TiO2–cotton composites were tested against Escherichia coli (Gram‐negative) and Staphylococcus aureus (Gram‐positive) strains, as well as against Candida albicans. Significant antimicrobial effect was observed, mainly against Staphylococcus aureus. In addition, the combination of visible light and TiO2 NPs showed enhanced antimicrobial activity.  相似文献

A green approach for forming silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on ecofriendly highly absorbent nonwoven fabrics was investigated. The fiber blending ratio of highly absorbent nonwoven fabrics was optimized by simulated body fluid (SBF) and water absorption. SBF and water absorption ratios reached 42 and 42.9 times after addition of 50 wt% highly absorbent fibers. The Ag NPs were characterized by UV-visible spectrometry (UV-Vis), X-ray diffraction (XRD) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). UV-Vis and XRD images confirmed the presence of Ag NPs. TEM observation revealed that Ag NPs were distributed at 5–10 nm. The results of antimicrobial activity showed that Ag NP dope is effective for producing antimicrobial nonwoven fabrics against E. coli and S. aureus.  相似文献

This study is aimed to highlight the possibility of engineering the multifunctional textile nanocomposite material based on the polyester (PES) fabric modified with colloidal Ag and TiO2 nanoparticles (NPs). The effects of concentration of NPs as well as the order of Ag and TiO2 NPs loading on antimicrobial, UV protective, and photocatalytic properties of PES fabrics were examined. The antimicrobial activity of differently modified PES fabrics was tested against Gram‐negative bacterium Escherichia coli, Gram‐positive bacterium Staphylococcus aureus, and fungus Candida albicans. The concentration of Ag colloid and the order of Ag and TiO2 NPs loading considerably affected the antimicrobial efficiency of PES fabrics. The fabrics provided maximum UV protection upon surface modification with Ag and TiO2 NPs. Ag NPs enhanced Ag NPs enhanced the photodegradation activity of TiO2 NPs and total photodegradation of methylene blue was achieved after 24 hr of UV illumination. The layer-by-layer (LbL) assembled thin films containing tetraamino-thiacalix[4]arenes (1) and tetraamino-calix[4]arenes (2) were used as nanoreactor to synthesize in situ Ag nanoparticles (Ag NPs). UV–vis spectra and AFM images demonstrate that Ag NPs are included in the (1/Ag NPs)n and (2/Ag NPs)n multilayer films. The silver ions are absorbed through cation–π interaction and calix[4]arene-metal ion coordination interaction and are reduced into Ag NPs by calix[4]arenes. TEM images indicated that Ag NPs within aminocalix[4]arene multilayers were highly dispersed and uniform. Moreover, the mean size of Ag NPs is smaller than 10 nm.  相似文献

In the developing nanotechnology world, numerous attempts have been made to prepare the nobel metallic nanoparticles (NPs), which can improve their applicability in diverse fields. In the present work, the biosynthesis of silver (Ag) NPs has been successfully achieved through the medicinal plant extract (PE) of G. resinifera and effectively used for the catalytic and antibacterial applications. The size dependant tuneable surface plasmon resonance (SPR) properties attained through altering precursor concentrations. The X-ray and selected area diffraction pattern for Ag NPs revealed the high crystalline nature of pure Ag NPs with dominant (111) phase. The high-resolution TEM images show the non-spherical shape of NPs shifting from spherical, hexagonal to triangular, with wide particle size distribution ranging from 13 to 44 nm. Accordingly, the dual-band SPR spectrum is situated in the UV–Vis spectra validating the non-spherical shape of Ag NPs. The functional group present on the Ag NPs surface was analysed by FT-IR confirms the capping and reducing ability of methanolic PE G. resinifera. Further, the mechanism of antimicrobial activity studied using electron microscope showed the morphological changes with destructed cell walls of E. coli NCIM 2931 and S. aureus NCIM 5021 cells, when they treated with Ag NPs. The Ag NPs were more effective against S. aureus and E. coli with MIC 128 μg/ml as compared to P. aeruginosa NCIM 5029 with MIC 256 μg/ml. Apart from this, the reduction of toxic organic pollutant 4-NP to 4-AP within 20 min reveals the excellent catalytic activity of Ag NPs with rate constant k = 15.69 s?1.  相似文献

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have been synthesized by greener method using chloroauric acid as precursor and extract of Acorus calamus rhizome as reducing agent. Formation of AuNP was confirmed by the presence of Surface Plasmon Resonance (SPR) peak in UV–Visible spectral analysis. XRD and FT-IR spectral analyses were performed for characterization. SEM images show spherical morphology and HR-TEM images reveal nanosize of AuNPs. The AuNPs were then coated on cotton fabric by pad-dry-cure method and characterized by SEM with EDAX technique. The results reveal the deposition of AuNPs on the surface of cotton fabric. Uncoated cotton, neat extract coated cotton and extract containing AuNPs coated cotton fabrics were then tested for antibacterial activity against Gram positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram negative (Escherichia coli) bacterial strains by AATCC 100 test method. It showed that the extract containing AuNPs coated cotton fabric had higher antibacterial activity than other test samples against E. coli. UV-DRS analysis performed on extract containing AuNPs coated cotton fabric showed improved UV-blocking property than uncoated cotton fabric and neat extract coated cotton fabric.  相似文献

Green synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) has been achieved using oak fruit bark extract as a reducing, capping and stabilizing agent. The biosynthesized Ag NPs were characterized using various techniques. UV–visible spectrum of prepared silver colloidal solution showed absorption maximum at 433 nm. X‐ray diffraction and transmission electron microscopy analysis revealed that Ag NPs have a face‐centred cubic structure being spherical in shape with an average particle size of 20–25 nm. The toxicity of the Ag NPs was tested on bacterial species such as Staphylococcus aureus, Bacillus subtilis, Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Escherichia coli by comparison based on diameter of inhibition zone in disc diffusion tests and minimum inhibitory concentration and minimum bactericidal concentration of NPs dispersed in liquid cultures. The antimicrobial activity of Ag NPs was greater towards Gram‐positive bacteria (S. aureus and B. subtilis) compared to Gram‐negative bacteria as determined using standard Kirby–Bauer disc diffusion assay and serial dilution. Green chemistry-assisted biocompatible copper (Cu), silver (Ag), and iron oxide (Fe2O3) nanoparticles (NPs) synthesis along with surface modification using Koelreuteria apiculata is demonstrated in this research, for the first time. Appropriate analytical techniques were utilized to confirm the preparation, spherical morphology, and crystalline structure of each of the NPs. The antioxidant nature of synthesized NPs was evaluated using 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl (DPPH) radical scavenging. Besides, the antimicrobial activity was also performed using bacterial strains of Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli, and Salmonella typhi. Aspergillus sp. was designed as marker specie for the antifungal studies. The outcomes of NPs exposure, analyzed with reference to Chlorella sp. of the algal family exhibit the numerical values around 833% for AgNPs, 497% of CuNPs, and 456% for Fe2O3NPs. Phytotoxicity assay performed on the seeds of Vigna radiata and Cicer arietinum further validate the accordant nature of NPs towards vivacity. Allium cepa was also used as a test model to ascertain the genotoxic effects of the NPs wherein the mitotic index (MI) was calculated for AgNPs, CuNPs, and Fe2O3NPs as 42.1, 51.7, and 54.2% respectively. The outcomes of this research proved the suitability and affordability of our NPs developed using green synthesis for new industrial applications of in-situ reduction of carcinogenic compounds from water and soil.  相似文献

In this work, a novel single-stage process for in situ synthesis of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) using the layer-by-layer (LbL) technique is presented. The Ag NPs were formed into nanotextured coatings based on sequentially adsorbed poly(allylamine hydrochloride) (PAH) and SiO2 NPs. Such highly porous surfaces have been used in the fabrication of highly efficient ion release films for applications such as antibacterial coatings. In this approach, the amino groups of the PAH acted as reducing agent and made possible the in situ formation of the Ag NPs. This reduction reaction occurred during the LbL process as the coating was assembled, without any further step after the fabrication and stabilization of the multilayer film. Biamminesilver nitrate was used as the Ag+ ion source during the LbL process and it was successfully reduced to Ag NPs. All coatings were tested with gram-positive and gram-negative bacterial cultures of Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus, and Lactobacillus delbrueckii showing an excellent antimicrobial behavior against these types of bacteria (more than 99.9% of killing efficiency in all cases).  相似文献

Silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) were successfully synthesized using AgNO3 via an eco-friendly and simple green route using Abelmoschus esculentus (L.) pulp extract at room temperature. The phytochemicals present in A. esculentus (L.) pulp extract were used both as a reducing and a stabilizing agent for the synthesis of Ag NPs. The stabilization of Ag NPs with phytochemicals was justified using Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. The size of the as-synthesized Ag NPs was examined using dynamic light scattering and confirmed by transmission electron microscopy. The crystalline nature of Ag NPs had been identified using X-ray diffraction. The present study demonstrated the efficacy of Ag NPs against Jurkat cells in vitro. Our study also showed that the IC50 dose of Ag NPs leads to the increase in intracellular reactive oxygen species and significantly diminished mitochondrial membrane potential, indicating the effective involvement of apoptosis in cell death. The synthesized Ag NPs also exhibited good antimicrobial activity against different gram class bacteria.  相似文献

Two new tetrahydrofuran derivatives, mucorinic acids A (1) and B (2) as well as the three known secondary metabolites dehydroabietic acid (3), Δ8-dihydroabietic acid (4) and 8-pimarenic acid (5) were isolated from a solid culture of the fungus Mucor spp. isolated on insect Acalymma bivittula. The structure of these compounds was elucidated by analysis of NMR and MS spectroscopic data. Compounds were tested in antimicrobial and insecticidal assays. Dehydroabietic acid exhibited moderate larvicidal activity on Aedes aegypti larvae with 65% mortality at 10 ppm. Both new compounds 1 and 2 showed interesting antibacterial activity on Staphylococcus aureus and methicillin resistant S. aureus with MIC values in the 8–16 μg/ml.  相似文献

In the present study novel derivatives of 4-thiazolidinone were prepared from biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid and evaluated for their in vitro antimicrobial activity against two Gram negative strains (Escherichia coli and Pseudomonas aeruginosa) and two Gram positive strains (Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus) and fungal strain Candida albicans and Aspergillus niger. The newly synthesized compounds were characterized by IR, 1H NMR and C, H, N analyses. The results revealed that all synthesized compounds have a significant biological activity against the tested microorganisms. Among the synthesized derivatives 4g (biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid [2-(3-bromophenyl)-5-(3-nitrobenzylidene)-4-oxo-thiazolidin-3-yl]-amide) and 4i (biphenyl-4-carboxylic acid [5-(3-bromobenzylidene)-2-(3-bromophenyl)-4-oxo-thiazolidin-3-yl]-amide) were found to be most effective antimicrobial compounds.  相似文献

Synthesis of nanomaterials is an emerging field due to their fascinating properties for applications in different field and green synthesis offers various advantages versus physical and chemical methods. Herein, green protocol has been adopted for the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) using seeds extract of strawberry. The Ag NPs were characterized using advanced techniques comprising UV/Vis, XRD, FTIR, SEM, DLS and EDX. The λmax for the Ag NPs was recorded at 405 nm. The functional groups present in the extract and involved in Ag ions reduction were determined using FTIR analysis. The SEM-EDX analysis confirmed the mono-dispersive nature of Ag NPs along with confirmation of elemental composition. The nanoparticles size distribution was recorded in 50-70 nm range. Bio-fabricated Ag NPs were appraised for antioxidant activity (DPPH with % inhibition 56.61 and ABTS with % inhibition 77.81) and antimicrobial activity, i.e., Escherichia coli, Salmonella typhimurium, Shigella sonnei, Halomonas halophile, Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus subtilis. It is concluded that these synthesized NPs could probably be applied as potent antibacterial and antioxidant materials.  相似文献

In the present work, silver-doped ZnO (Ag–ZnO NPs) with different concentrations of silver ions (0.3, 0.5, 1.0 and 1.5 mol %) were synthesized by using a simple co-precipitation method. The Ag–ZnO NPs were primarily characterized by XRD, FT-IR, SEM, EDS, TEM, UV–Vis. DRS, PL and BET surface area. The XRD analysis of Ag–ZnO NPs shows a wurtzite structure and optimized Ag–ZnO NPs (1.0 mol %) exhibit a lower crystallite size of 15.96 nm than that of bare ZnO (19.07 nm). Optical study shows a decrease in band gap from 3.13 to 2.97 eV as the concentration of Ag ions increases from 0.3 to 1.5 mol%. TEM images reveal the spherical shape particle with sizes ranging between 10 and 15 nm. From the multipoint BET plot, the surface area of Ag–ZnO NPs found 38.06 m2/gwhich is higher than the ZnO NPs (34.48 m2/g). The photocatalytic study demonstrated that the Ag–ZnO NPs (1.0 mol %) has an excellent photodegradation efficiency of Methyl Orange (96.74%)with a 26% increment as compared to bare ZnO (70.47%). Furthermore, the bactericidal activity of Ag–ZnO NPs (1.0 mol %) was investigated against four different bacterial strains. The results explored that the Gram-negative bacteria (E. coli and P. vulgaris) are more sensitive than Gram-positive (S. aureus and B. cereus) to Ag–ZnO NPs. Overall, the anticipated material is economical and reusable for photodegradation and antibacterial activity.  相似文献

A new series of 1,4-disubstituted 3-methylpyrazol-5(4H)-one derivatives were synthesized by reacting various substituted aromatic aldehydes with 3-methylpyrazol-5(4H)-one derivatives through Knoevenagel condensation by conventional as well as by exposure to microwave irradiations. After that newly synthesized compounds of 1,4-disubstituted 3-methyl-1H-pyrazol-5-ol were prepared from these derivatives by reduction reaction of sodium borohydride at 0–5 °C. Sixty-four heterocyclic compounds containing a pyrazole moiety were synthesized with good to excellent yields (51 to 91%). Compounds (3d, 3m, 4a, 4b, 4d, and 4g) showed potent antibacterial activity against MSSA (Methicillin-susceptible strains of Staphylococcus aureus) and MRSA (Methicillin-resistant strains of Staphylococcus aureus) with MIC (the minimum inhibitory concentration) ranging between 4 and 16 µg/mL as compared to ciprofloxacin (MIC = 8–16 µg/mL). Compounds (4a, 4h, 4i, and 4l) showed potent antifungal activity against Aspergillus niger with MIC ranging between 16 and 32 µg/mL as compared to fluconazole (MIC = 128 µg/mL). In particular, compound 4a exhibited the strongest activity among the synthesized compounds in both bacterial and fungal strains with MIC ranging between 4 and 16 µg/mL. Furthermore, the nine most active compounds showed a good ADMET (absorption, distribution, metabolism, excretion, and toxicity) profile in comparison to ciprofloxacin and fluconazole as reference drugs. Molecular docking predicted that DHFR (dihydrofolate reductase) protein from Staphylococcus aureus and NMT (N-myristoyl transferase) protein from Candida albicans are the most suitable targets for the antimicrobial activities of these potent compounds.  相似文献

Bio synthesis of nanoparticles using plant parts has gained considerable attention, given the fact that the method is green, environment friendly, cheaper, simple and involves no hazardous substances. The present study involves the green synthesis of copper oxide nanoparticles (CuO NPs) using chitosan and the aqueous leaf extract of Elsholtzia blanda, an aromatic medicinal herb. The synthesized E.blanda-chitosan mediated copper oxide nanoparticles (CPCE) and E. blanda mediated copper oxide nanoparticles (PCE) were subjected to different characterization techniques, Ultraviolet–visible (UV–Vis), Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR), X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy (FE-SEM), Energy Dispersive X-ray Analysis (EDAX), High Resolution Transmission Electron Microscopy (HRTEM) and Selected Area Electron Diffraction (SAED). The absorbance peaks in UV–Vis spectroscopy at 286 nm and 278 nm for CPCE and PCE respectively indicated the formation of nanoparticles. TEM and SEM employed for studying the surface morphology showed rod-like and spherical morphology bearing average size of 47.71 nm for CPCE and 36.07 nm for PCE. The antibacterial activities of the prepared nanoparticles were tested against Enterococcus faecalis, Staphylococcus aureus, Escherichia coli and Salmonella typhi by agar well diffusion method. The results indicate that CuO NPs possess effective antibacterial potential against all tested bacteria with a maximum zone of inhibition of 18 mm for Enterococcus faecalis. Antioxidant studies revealed the highest DPPH scavenging activity of 89% at 25 μg/mL concentration of the nanoparticles. The percentage of the photo catalytic degradation of Congo red was found to be 95% after 10 h.  相似文献

The present study reports the synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) from silver nitrate solution using leaf extracts of Commiphora caudata. The formation of Ag NPs in the colloidal solution is confirmed by UV–Vis spectroscopy analysis. The identification of biomolecules is analyzed through fourier transform infrared spectroscopy. X-ray diffraction pattern shows that an average particle size of the synthesized nanoparticles are in the range of 40–24 nm. Field emission scanning electron microscopy and transmission electron microscopy confirm the formation Ag NPs in spherical shape. The photoluminescence study of the synthesized Ag NPs interprets the influence of C caudata leaf concentrations on emission behavior. Zeta potential measurement is carried out to determine the stability of synthesized Ag NPs. GC–MS analysis revealed that the C. caudata contained 11 compounds, such as Stigmasterol (24.14 %), Hexacosanoic acid, methyl ester (15.13 %) and 2-bromophenyl morpholine-4-carboxylate (11.71 %). The antibacterial activity of Ag NPs shows that these bio capped Ag NPs have higher inhibitory action for Escherichia coli, Klebsiella pheumoniea, Micrococcus flavus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bacillus subtilis, Bacillus pumilus, Staphylococcus aureus.  相似文献
