There was no reaction of 7-iodobicyclo[4.1.0]heptane (7-iodonorcarane, 1) (exo-endo ratio of ca. 1) with acetophenone enolate ions 2 in DMSO at 25 degrees C; however, with the addition of SmI(2) or FeBr(2) and under the same experimental conditions, the substitution product 3 was obtained in 9% and 72% yields, respectively, with an exo-endo ratio of ca. 16 similar to the product ratio from photostimulated reactions. Thus, it seems that 7-norcaranyl radicals are intermediates of these reactions. With FeBr(2) at 60 degrees C the yield of 3 was as high as 90%. Reactions of 1 with the enolate ion of 2-naphthyl methyl ketone 4 induced by FeBr(2) gave substitution product 5 in 60% yield (96% of it the exo isomer). In competition experiments, 4 was 1.7 times more reactive than 2, and the anion of nitromethane (7) was 6.5 times more reactive than 2 toward 7-norcaranyl radicals. The reactions of 1-iodoadamantane (9) and neopentyl iodide (11) with carbanion 2 induced by FeBr(2) gave the substitution products in 85% and 92% yields, respectively. These observations indicate that all these reactions induced by FeBr(2) occur by the S(RN)1 mechanism.  相似文献

The reactivity of -SC(NH)NH2 (1), MeCOS- (2), and PhCOS- (3) toward 1-naphthyl radicals was studied in DMSO. The photostimulated reaction of anions 1, 2, and 3 with 1-bromonaphthalene (4) after quenching with MeI renders 1-(methylthio)naphthalene (6) as a main product together with bis(1-naphthyl) sulfide (7) and naphthalene (5). The thioacetate ion (2) and thiobenzoate ion (3) were unreactive toward 4 as electron-donor under photostimulation; however, in the presence of potassium tert-butoxide anion (entrainment conditions), they gave the mentioned products 5, 6, and 7, after the addition of MeI. Quenching of the triplet state of 4 was assigned as the photoinduced initiation step, with a rate constant value of (4.6+/-0.5)x10(8) M-1 s-1 for tert-butoxide anion and a rough estimated value of (8+/-7)x10(7) M-1 s-1 for anion 1. By using hydrogen abstraction from DMSO as the competitive reaction, the absolute rate constants for the addition of anions 1, 2, and 3 to 1-naphthyl radicals have been determined to be 1.0x10(9), 1.2x10(9), and 3.5x10(9) M-1 s-1, respectively. This reactivity order is in agreement with the stability of the resulting radical anions (ArNu)*- (10-12)*-. The inhibition experiments of the photoinduced substitution reaction in the presence of radical scavengers and the global quantum yield higher than the unity are evidence of a radical chain mechanism for these substitution reactions by anions 1 and 2. Anion 3 adds to the 1-naphthyl radical, but is neither able to initiate nor to keep the propagation cycle. Evaluation of the electron-transfer driving forces for the reaction between (ArNu)*- and 4 together with the absence of a chain reaction for the anion 3 indicate that the propagation in the proposed mechanism is given by an acid-base reaction between the radical .C(O)Me or .C(NH)NH2 (13) and a base.  相似文献

The fluorescent excited state of the 2-naphthoxide ion (1) is quenched by aliphatic and aromatic halides according to an electron-transfer mechanism, with generation of the corresponding alkyl and aryl radicals by a concerted or consecutive C-X bond fragmentation reaction. Whereas bromo- and iodobenzene follow a concerted ET mechanism (C-X, BDE control), 1-bromonaphthalene exhibits a stepwise process (pi LUMO control). The photoinduced reaction of anion 1 with 1-iodoadamantane (2) in DMSO affords substitution products on C3, C6, and C8, 1-adamantanol, 1-adamantyl 2-naphthyl ether, and adamantane (3.2, 13.2, 12.2, 2.8, 2.5, and 14.1% yields, respectively). A complex mixture is also observed in the photochemical reaction of neopentyl iodide (3) with anion 1, which renders substitution on C1, C3, C6, C8, and 2-naphthyl neopentyl ether (8.1, 1.3, 19.1, 31.1, and 2.8% yields, respectively). The absence of reaction in the dark and the inhibition of the photoinduced reaction by the presence of the radical traps di-tert-butylnitroxide (DTBN) and 1,4-cyclohexadiene are evidence of a radical chain mechanism for these substitutions. On the other hand, only coupling at C1 is achieved by the photostimulated reaction of anion 1 with iodobenzene (5), to afford 41.9% of 1-phenyl-2-naphthol and 5.4% of disubstitution product. The regiochemistry of these reactions can be ascribed to steric hindrance and activation parameters.  相似文献

The reaction of mono-enolate anions with O2NCMe2X where X = Cl, NO2, p-MePhSO2 yield coupling (RCOCH(R′)(CMe2NO2) and enolate dimerization products (RCOCH(R′)CH(R′)COR) by free radical chain mechanisms involving bimolecular substitution or electron transfer reactions between the enolate anion and the intermediate nitro alkane radical anion (XCMe2NO2?).  相似文献

The tert-butoxide-induced substitution of alpha,p-dinitrocumene by 4-aminophenol unexpectedly afforded the N-coupled product, 2-(4-hydroxyanilino)-2-(4-nitrophenyl)propane. EPR observations revealed arylaminyl radical intermediates as well as coupled anion radicals, hence the normal S(RN)1 process may compete with an alternative nonchain reaction pathway.  相似文献

A combination of 2-aryl substituted 1,3-dimethyl-benzimidazolines (DMBIHs) and tris(2,2′-bipyridine)ruthenium(II) chloride, Ru(bpy)3Cl2 was used to promote photoinduced electron-transfer (PET) reactions of α-halomethyl-substituted benzocyclic 1-alkanones. This photo-reagent system stimulates free radical forming, cleavage of both carbon–bromine and carbon–chlorine bonds that are not activated by carbonyl groups. The resulting free radicals undergo 5-exo hexenyl cyclization as well as sequential cyclization and ring-expansion (Dowd–Beckwith) reactions to form radicals that abstract hydrogen atoms from the radical cation of DMBIH to yield the observed products. The results of a study of the effects of substituents located on the 2-aryl ring of DMBIH suggest that steric and hydrogen-bonding interactions influence the nature of the reaction pathways followed by the radical intermediates. PET reactions using an iridium complex and DMBIH were also investigated.  相似文献

The photostimulated reaction of the phthalimide anion (1) with 1-iodoadamantane (2) gave 3-(1-adamantyl) phthalimide (3) (12%) and 4-(1-adamantyl) phthalimide (4) (45%), together with the reduction product adamantane (AdH) (21%). The lack of reaction in the dark and inhibition of the photoinduced reaction by p-dinitrobenzene, 1,4-cyclohexadiene, and di-tert-butylnitroxide indicated that 1 reacts with 2 by an S(RN)1 mechanism. Formation of products 3 and 4 occurs with distonic radical anions as intermediates. The photoinduced reaction of anion 1 with tert-butylmercury chloride (10) affords 4-tert-butylphthalimide (11) as a unique product. By competition experiments toward 1, 1-iodoadamantane was found to be ca. 10 times more reactive than tert-butylmercury chloride.  相似文献

Reductive photoinduced electron transfer (PET) reactions have been performed with various bicyclic alpha-cyclopropyl-substituted ketones and tertiary amines. The reaction resulted in a regioselective cleavage of one cyclopropyl bond under formation of an exocyclic radical with an endocyclic enolate unit. In the case of bicyclic ketones with an unsaturated side chain, various bicyclic, spirocyclic, and tricyclic products are accessible via radical cyclization, depending on the position of the alkenyl substituent. In addition to triethylamine, N-silylated amines have also been used as electron donors, leading to a variety of compounds, among them are silylated fragmentation products, indicating that a proton is transferred from not only the amine radical cation but also the cationic silyl group. The intramolecular Paternó-Büchi reaction has also been studied for cyclopropane derivatives of the jasmone type leading to tetracyclic oxetanes. Finally, alpha-epoxy-substituted ketones have been investigated under PET conditions, yielding ring-opened products.  相似文献

The photochemistry of ortho, meta and para-carboxypyridines (pK(a)(1)= 1.0-2.1 and pK(a)(2)= 4.7-5.3) in aqueous medium was studied by laser-flash photolysis and product studies. At pH < pK(a)(1), hydroxylated compounds are produced with low quantum yields. Within the pH range 4-7, ortho and meta isomers undergo dimerization together with decarboxylation with a quantum yield showing a very sharp maximum around pK(a)(2)([small phi](max)= 0.09 and 0.01, respectively) while the para isomer is photostable. End-of-pulse transients assigned to triplet states were detected by laser-flash photolysis at pH < pK(a)(1) and pH > 4. Additionally, the carboxypyridinyl radicals were detected as secondary intermediates at pH < pK(a)(1) and 4 < pH < 7 and the OH-adduct radicals at pH < pK(a)(1). This is in favour of an electron transfer reaction between triplet and starting compound producing a charge transfer species. The radical anion would escape as carboxypyridinyl radical while the radical cation may add water at pH < pK(a)(1) yielding the OH-adduct radical or may undergo decarboxylation at pH > 4. The high quantum yield of phototransformation of the ortho isomer at pH > 4 is due to an easy decarboxylation process. A reaction scheme is proposed accounting for the dependences of [small phi] on both the pH and the carboxypyridines concentration. This study points out the distinct pattern of reactivity of carboxypyridines depending on the ionisation state of starting compounds and isomeric substitution.  相似文献

Laser flash photolysis and an external magnetic field have been used for the study of the interaction of 4-nitroquinoline-1-oxide (4NQO) with some indole derivatives, amino acids, tyrosine and tryptophan, and model proteins, lysozyme and bovine serum albumin. In an aprotic medium, photoinduced electron transfer (PET) from indoles to 4NQO is accompanied by proton transfer from the indole moieties irrespective of the substitution at the N-1 position. For 1,2-dimethylindole, however, proton abstraction is hindered possibly due to steric effects. In a protic medium, obviously proton transfer is possible from the medium and is the dominating reaction following PET. The effect of an external magnetic field is very small for all the systems studied. This is attributed to a competition between geminate proton abstraction by the 4NQO radical anion from the partner radical cation and escape of the 4NQO radical anion to the medium followed by proton transfer. The latter process is more predominant, and the former one, which produces a small population of geminate spin-correlated radical pairs, leads to a minor field effect. Another interesting observation is the affinity of 4NQO toward the tryptophan residues in a protein environment. It is seen that PET takes place preferably from the tryptophan residues rather than from the tyrosine residues.  相似文献

The reaction of nitrous acid with hydrogen peroxide leads to nitric acid as the only stable product. In the course of this reaction, peroxynitrous acid (ONOOH) and, in the presence of CO(2), a peroxynitrite-CO(2) adduct (ONOOCO(2)(-)) are intermediately formed. Both intermediates decompose to yield highly oxidizing radicals, which subsequently react with excess hydrogen peroxide to yield peroxynitric acid (O(2)NOOH) as a further intermediate. During these reactions, (15)N chemically induced dynamic nuclear polarization (CIDNP) effects are observed, the analysis of the pH dependency of which allows the elucidation of mechanistic details. The formation and decay of peroxynitric acid via free radicals NO(2)(*) and HOO(*) is demonstrated by the appearance of (15)N CIDNP leading to emission (E) in the (15)N NMR signal of O(2)NOOH during its formation and to enhanced absorption (A) during its decay reaction. Additionally, the (15)N NMR signal of the nitrate ion (NO(3)(-)) appears in emission at pH approximately 4.5. These observations are explained by proposing the intermediate formation of short-lived radical anions O(2)NOOH(*)(-) probably generated by electron transfer between peroxynitric acid and peroxynitrate anion, followed by decomposition of O(2)NOOH(*)(-) into NO(3)(-) and HO(*) and NO(2)(-) and HOO(*) radicals, respectively. The feasibility of such reactions is supported by quantum-chemical calculations at the CBS-Q level of theory including PCM solvation model corrections for aqueous solution. The release of free HO(*) radicals during decomposition of O(2)NOOH is supported by (13)C and (1)H NMR product studies of the reaction of preformed peroxynitric acid with [(13)C(2)]DMSO (to yield the typical "HO(*) products" methanesulfonic acid, methanol, and nitromethane) and by ESR spectroscopic detection of the HO(*) and CH(3)(*) radical adducts to the spin trap compound POBN in the absence and presence of isotopically labeled DMSO, respectively.  相似文献

To characterize fullerenes (C(60) and C(70)) as photosensitizers in biological systems, the generation of active oxygen species, through energy transfer (singlet oxygen (1)O(2)) and electron transfer (reduced active oxygen radicals such as superoxide anion radical O(2)(-)* and hydroxyl radical *OH), was studied by a combination of methods, including biochemical (DNA-cleavage assay in the presence of various scavengers of active oxygen species), physicochemical (EPR radical trapping and near-infrared spectrometry), and chemical methods (nitro blue tetrazolium (NBT) method). Whereas (1)O(2) was generated effectively by photoexcited C(60) in nonpolar solvents such as benzene and benzonitrile, we found that O(2)(-)* and *OH were produced instead of (1)O(2) in polar solvents such as water, especially in the presence of a physiological concentration of reductants including NADH. The above results, together with those of a DNA cleavage assay in the presence of various scavengers of specific active oxygen species, indicate that the active oxygen species primarily responsible for photoinduced DNA cleavage by C(60) under physiological conditions are reduced species such as O(2)(-)* and *OH.  相似文献

The first direct generation of synthetically useful alpha-phosphonovinyl radicals was achieved by treatment of alpha-phosphonovinyl halides with a tributyltin radical. The alpha-phosphonovinyl radicals 2a-d were trapped with electron-rich olefins and an electron-deficient olefin to produce alpha-functionalized vinylphosphonates 3a-f in 16-55% yields. The alpha-phosphonovinyl radicals 7e-g containing the YCH2CH=CH2 (Y = O, CH2, S) substituent at the beta-position afforded mixtures of 5-exo and 6-endo cyclization products, 5e-g and 6e-g, in good yields. The 5-exo/6-endo product ratios increase in the following order of the beta-substituent: OCH2CH=CH2 > CH2CH2CH=CH2 > SCH2CH=CH2. The effects of the beta-substituents upon the cyclization reaction were discussed. Radical cyclization of alpha-phosphonovinyl radicals bearing functional groups such as geranyloxy, geranylthio, and (2-cyclohexen-1-yl)thio groups at the beta-position afforded 5-exo, 5-exo and 6-endo, and cis-fused-5,6-ring cyclization products incorporating an alpha,beta-unsaturated phosphonate unit within the ring, respectively, in good yields. The alpha-phosphonovinyl radical 20 underwent tandem radical cyclization-radical cyclization to produce a mixture of two isomeric bicyclo[4.3.0]nonenes including a vinylphosphonate moiety in high yield.  相似文献

The chemical dynamics of the reaction of allyl radicals, C(3)H(5)(X(2)A(2)), with two C(3)H(4) isomers, methylacetylene (CH(3)CCH(X(1)A(1))) and allene (H(2)CCCH(2)(X(1)A(1))) together with their (partially) deuterated counterparts, were unraveled under single-collision conditions at collision energies of about 125 kJ mol(-1) utilizing a crossed molecular beam setup. The experiments indicate that the reactions are indirect via complex formation and proceed via an addition of the allyl radical with its terminal carbon atom to the terminal carbon atom of the allene and of methylacetylene (alpha-carbon atom) to form the intermediates H(2)CCHCH(2)CH(2)CCH(2) and H(2)CCHCH(2)CHCCH(3), respectively. The lifetimes of these intermediates are similar to their rotational periods but too short for a complete energy randomization to occur. Experiments with D4-allene and D4-methylacetylene verify explicitly that the allyl group stays intact: no hydrogen emission was observed but only the release of deuterium atoms from the perdeuterated reactants. Further isotopic substitution experiments with D3-methylacetylene combined with the nonstatistical nature of the reaction suggest that the intermediates decompose via hydrogen atom elimination to 1,3,5-hexatriene, H(2)CCHCH(2)CHCCH(2), and 1-hexen-4-yne, H(2)CCHCH(2)CCCH(3), respectively, via tight exit transition states located about 10-15 kJ mol(-1) above the separated products. The overall reactions were found to be endoergic by 98 +/- 4 kJ mol(-1) and have characteristic threshold energies to reaction between 105 and 110 kJ mol(-1). Implications of these findings to combustion and interstellar chemistry are discussed.  相似文献

1-Phenylcyclopentadiene fused with two homoadamantene units at the 2,3- and 4,5-positions (4) was deprotonated with KH to lead to the quantitative formation of the corresponding cyclopentadienyl (Cp) anion 3(-). This anion was oxidized by AgCl to afford an orange crystalline solid consisting of Cp radical 3(?) and cyclopentadiene 4. The ESR spectrum in hexane exhibited approximately 15 lines, demonstrating that the two homoadamantene frameworks were equivalent and that the C1-C2(Ph)-C3 moiety of the five-membered ring formed a symmetrical allyl-like radical in agreement with the prediction by DFT calculation. The reaction of the Cp radical 3(?) with an oxygen molecule in the presence of Ag(+)SbF(6)(-) afforded the SbF(6)(-) salt of a phenylpyrylium ion annelated with two homoadamantene frameworks (8(+)SbF(6)(-)).  相似文献

Cyclo-bis-(urea-3,6-dichlorocarbazole) (1) forms a 1 : 2 complex with CH(3)CO(2)(-) and H(2)PO(4)(-) through hydrogen bonding with the two urea moieties, resulting in fluorescence enhancement via a combined photoinduced electron transfer (PET) and energy transfer mechanism. The binding mechanism involves a conformational change of the two urea receptors to a trans orientation after binding of the first anion, which facilitates the second interaction.  相似文献

The magnetic field effect (MFE) on the photoinduced electron transfer (PET) reaction between the [Cu(phen)2]2+ complex and DNA has been studied in homogeneous buffer medium and in reverse micelles. The copper complex on photoexcitation can oxidize DNA in a deoxygenated environment. A prominent MFE is found even in a homogeneous aqueous medium for the triplet born radicals. The process of partial intercalation of [Cu(phen)2]2+ complex within DNA is responsible for such a rare observation. In reverse micelles, the MFE is not very much prominent because of the large separation distance between the component radicals of the geminate radical ion pairs generated through PET.  相似文献

cis-[RuIV(bpy)2(py)(O)]2+ oxidizes cumene (2-phenylpropane) in acetonitrile solution primarily to cumyl alcohol (2-phenyl-2-propanol), alpha-methylstyrene, and acetophenone. Contrary to a prior report, the rate of the reaction is not accelerated by added nucleophiles. There is thus no evidence for the hydride transfer mechanism originally proposed. Instead, the results are consistent with a mechanism of initial hydrogen atom transfer from cumene to the ruthenium oxo group. This is indicated by the correlation of rate with C-H bond strength and by the various products observed. The formation of acetophenone, with one carbon less than cumene, is suggested to occur via a multistep pathway involving decarbonylation of the acyl radical from 2-phenylpropanal. An alternative mechanism involving beta-scission of cumyloxyl radical is deemed unlikely because of the difficulty of generating alkoxyl radicals under anaerobic conditions and the lack of rearranged products in the oxidation of triphenylmethane by cis-[RuIV(bpy)2(py)(O)]2+.  相似文献

We have accomplished the total synthesis of sculponin U, a polycyclic C-20-oxygenated kaurane diterpenoid featuring a 7,20-lactone-hemiketal bridge, through a radical cascade cyclization triggered by photoinduced electron transfer (PET) of a silyl enolate to form the cyclohexanone-fused bicyclo[3.2.1]octane skeleton. Other key points in our synthetic strategy encompass a Diels–Alder reaction to construct the middle six-membered ring of sculponin U, and an intramolecular radical cyclization induced by iron-catalyzed hydrogen atom transfer to close the western cyclohexane ring. Successful preparation of the enantiopure silyl enolate as the PET precursor enables the asymmetric total synthesis of sculponin U, opening a new avenue for divergent syntheses of structurally related C-20-oxygenated kaurane congeners and pharmaceutical derivatives thereof.  相似文献

Studies on the photoinduced electron transfer (PET) reactions of isobutylene (2-methylpropene, 1) in the absence of methanol have identified a new photochemical nucleophile-olefin combination, aromatic substitution (photo-NOCAS) reaction. Under these conditions acetonitrile was found to act as the nucleophile and to combine with the alkene radical cation. The resulting distonic radical cation then adds to the radical anion of 1,4-dicyanobenzene (2(-*)). The final product (6) results from cyclization into the ortho postion of the phenyl group. This product formation is rationalized on the basis of the relatively high oxidation potential of the alkene (i.e., one-electron oxidation yields a reactive radical cation), the fact that addition of the nucleophile (acetonitrile) to the radical cation is relatively unhindered, and the relatively low acidity of the radical cation due to the low radical stability of the allylic radical formed upon deprotonation. High-level ab initio molecular orbital calculations were used to determine the structures and relative energies of the possible intermediate distonic and bridged radical cations. The scope and mechanism of this type of photo-NOCAS reaction are discussed.  相似文献
