A new class of multi-scale structures, referred to as ‘parabolic metamaterials’, is introduced and studied in this paper. For an elastic two-dimensional triangular lattice, we identify dynamic regimes, which correspond to so-called ‘Dirac bridges’ on the dispersion surfaces. Such regimes lead to a highly localised and focussed unidirectional beam when the lattice is excited. We also show that the flexural rigidities of elastic ligaments are essential in establishing the ‘parabolic metamaterial’ regimes.  相似文献

Phononic crystals(PCs) have recently been developed as effective components for vibration suppression and sound absorption. As a typical design of PCs, wave attenuation occurs in the so-called stop-band. However, the structural response is still significantly large in the pass-band. In this paper, we combine PCs and acoustic black holes(ABHs) in a unique device, achieving a versatile device that can attenuate vibration in the stop-band, while suppress vibration in the pass-band. This approach provides a versatile platform for controlling vibration in a multiband with a simple design.  相似文献

The main objective of this paper is to develop a generalized finite element formulation of stress integration method for non-quadratic yield functions and potentials with mixed nonlinear hardening under non-associated flow rule. Different approaches to analyze the anisotropic behavior of sheet materials were compared in this paper. The first model was based on a non-associated formulation with both quadratic yield and potential functions in the form of Hill’s (1948). The anisotropy coefficients in the yield and potential functions were determined from the yield stresses and r-values in different orientations, respectively. The second model was an associated non-quadratic model (Yld2000-2d) proposed by Barlat et al. (2003). The anisotropy in this model was introduced by using two linear transformations on the stress tensor. The third model was a non-quadratic non-associated model in which the yield function was defined based on Yld91 proposed by Barlat et al. (1991) and the potential function was defined based on Yld89 proposed by Barlat and Lian (1989). Anisotropy coefficients of Yld91 and Yld89 functions were determined by yield stresses and r-values, respectively. The formulations for the three models were derived for the mixed isotropic-nonlinear kinematic hardening framework that is more suitable for cyclic loadings (though it can easily be derived for pure isotropic hardening). After developing a general non-associated mixed hardening numerical stress integration algorithm based on backward-Euler method, all models were implemented in the commercial finite element code ABAQUS as user-defined material subroutines. Different sheet metal forming simulations were performed with these anisotropic models: cup drawing processes and springback of channel draw processes with different drawbead penetrations. The earing profiles and the springback results obtained from simulations with the three different models were compared with experimental results, while the computational costs were compared. Also, in-plane cyclic tension–compression tests for the extraction of the mixed hardening parameters used in the springback simulations were performed for two sheet materials.  相似文献

The significance of sparse long-chain branching in polyolefines towards mechanical properties is well-known. Topology is a very important structural property of polyethylene, as is molecular weight distribution. The method of Fourier-transform rheology (FTR) and melt state nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) is applied for the detection and quantification of branching topology (number of branches per molecule), for industrial polyethylenes of various molecular weight and molecular weight distributions. FT rheology consists of studying the development of higher harmonics contribution of the stress response to a large amplitude oscillatory shear deformation. In particular, when applying large-amplitude oscillatory shear (LAOS), one observes the development of mechanical higher harmonic contributions at 3ω 1, 5ω 1,..., in the shear stress response. We correlate the relative intensity, I 3/1, and phase Φ 3 of these harmonics with structural properties of industrial polyethylene, i.e. polymer topology and molecular weight distribution. Experiments are complemented by numerical simulations, using a multimode differential Pom-pom constitutive model (DCPP formulation), by fitting to the experimental linear and nonlinear viscoelastic behaviours. Simulation results in the nonlinear regime are correlated with molecular properties of the “pom-pom” macromolecular architecture. Qualitative agreement is found between predicted and experimental FT rheology results.  相似文献

Emissions remain a critical issue affecting engine design and operation, while energy conservation is becoming increasingly important. One approach to favorably address these issues is to achieve homogeneous charge combustion and stratified charge combustion at lower peak temperatures with a variable compression ratio, a variable intake temperature and a trapped rate of the EGR using NVO (negative valve overlap). This experiment was attempted to investigate the origins of these lower temperature auto-ignition phenomena with SCCI and CAI using gasoline fuel. In case of SCCI, the combustion and emission characteristics of gasoline-fueled stratified-charge compression ignition (SCCI) engine according to intake temperature and compression ratio was examined. We investigated the effects of air–fuel ratio, residual EGR rate and injection timing on the CAI combustion area. In addition, the effect of injection timing on combustion factors such as the start of combustion, its duration and its heat release rate was also investigated.  相似文献

Biophysical computational models are complementary to experiments and theories, providing powerful tools for the study of neurological diseases. The focus of this review is the dynamic modeling and control strategies of Parkinson's disease (PD). In previous studies, the development of parkinsonian network dynamics modeling has made great progress. Modeling mainly focuses on the cortex-thalamus-basal ganglia (CTBG) circuit and its sub-circuits, which helps to explore the dynamic behavior of the parkinsonian network, such as synchronization. Deep brain stimulation (DBS) is an effective strategy for the treatment of PD. At present, many studies are based on the side effects of the DBS. However, the translation from modeling results to clinical disease mitigation therapy still faces huge challenges. Here, we introduce the progress of DBS improvement. Its specific purpose is to develop novel DBS treatment methods, optimize the treatment effect of DBS for each patient, and focus on the study in closed-loop DBS. Our goal is to review the inspiration and insights gained by combining the system theory with these computational models to analyze neurodynamics and optimize DBS treatment.  相似文献

The mesh-free radial basis function (RBF) collocation method is explored to calculate band structures of periodic composite structures. The inverse multi-quadric (MQ), Gaussian, and MQ RBFs are used to test the stability of the RBF collocation method in periodic structures. Much useful information is obtained. Due to the merits of the RBF collocation method, the general form in this paper can easily be applied in the high dimensional problems analysis. The stability is fully discussed with different RBFs. The choice of the shape parameter and the effects of the knot number are presented.  相似文献

An experimental investigation on flow around an oscillating bubble and solid ellipsoid with a flat bottom was conducted. A single air bubble (equivalent diameter De=9.12 mm) was attached to a small disk (1 mm) at the end of a needle and suspended across a vertical square channel (100 mm) by wire wherein water flowed downward at a constant flowrate. The solid ellipsoid (De9.1 mm) was suspended across the square channel in the same manner. The equivalent diameter-based Reynolds and Eotvos number range, 1950<Re<2250 and 11<Eo<11.5, placed the bubble in the ‘wobbly’ regime while the flow in its wake was turbulent. A constant flowrate and one bubble size was used such that flow in the wake was turbulent. Velocity measurements of the flow field around the bubble or solid were made using a one CCD camera Digital Particle Image Velocimetry (DPIV) system enhanced by Laser Induced Fluorescence (LIF). The shape of the bubble or solid was simultaneously recorded along with the velocity using a second CCD camera and an Infrared Shadow Technique (IST). In this way both the flow-field and the boundary of the bubble (solid) were measured. The velocity vector plots of flow around and in the wake of a bubble/solid, supplemented by profiles and contours of the average and root-mean-square velocities, vorticity, Reynolds stress and turbulent kinetic energy, revealed differences in the wake flow structure behind a bubble and solid. One of the significant differences was in the inherent, oscillatory motion of the bubble which not only produced vorticity in the near-wake, but as a result of apparent vorticity stretching distributed the turbulent kinetic energy associated with this flow more uniformly on its wake, in contrast to the solid.  相似文献

The thickness-shear(TS) and thickness-twist(TT) vibrations of partially electroded AT-cut quartz plates for acoustic wave resonator and filter applications are theoretically studied. The plates have structural variations in one of the two in-plane directions of the plates only. The scalar differential equations derived by Tiersten and Smythe for electroded and unelectroded AT-cut quartz plates are used, resulting in free vibration resonant frequencies and mode shapes for both fundamental and overtone families of modes. The trapped modes with vibrations, mainly confined in the electroded areas, are found to exist in both the resonator and the filter structures. The numerical results for the trapped modes are presented for different aspect ratios of electrodes and material properties, providing a reference to the design and optimization of quartz acoustic wave resonators and filters.  相似文献

In this paper, the maximum-principle-preserving(MPP)and positivitypreserving(PP)flux limiting technique will be generalized to a class of high-order weighted compact nonlinear schemes(WCNSs)for scalar conservation laws and the compressible Euler systems in both one and two dimensions. The main idea of the present method is to rewrite the scheme in a conservative form, and then define the local limiting parameters via case-by-case discussion.Smooth test problems are presented to demonstrate that the proposed MPP/PP WCNSs incorporating a third-order Runge-Kutta method can attain the desired order of accuracy.Other test problems with strong shocks and high pressure and density ratios are also conducted to testify the performance of the schemes.  相似文献

The e-N method is widely used in transition prediction. The amplitude growth rate used in the e-N method is usually provided by the linear stability theory (LST) based on the local parallel hypothesis. Considering the non-parallelism effect, the parabolized stability equation (PSE) method lacks local characteristic of stability analysis. In this paper, a local stability analysis method considering non-parallelism is proposed, termed as EPSE since it may be considered as an expansion of the PSE method. The EPSE considers variation of the shape function in the streamwise direction. Its local characteristic is convenient for stability analysis. This paper uses the EPSE in a strong non-parallel flow and mode exchange problem. The results agree well with the PSE and the direct numerical simulation (DNS). In addition, it is found that the growth rate is related to the normalized method in the non-parallel flow. Different results can be obtained using different normalized methods. Therefore, the normalized method must be consistent.  相似文献

This work deals with a study of the dynamic and buckling analysis of polymer hybrid composite(PHC) beam. The beam has variable thickness and is reinforced by carbon nanotubes(CNTs) and nanoclay(NC) simultaneously. The governing equations are derived based on the first shear deformation theory(FSDT). A three-phase HalpinTsai approach is used to predict the mechanical properties of the PHC. We focus our attention on the effect of the simultaneous addition of NC and CNT on the vibration and buckling analysis of the PHC beam with variable thickness. Also a comparison study is done on the sensation of three impressive parameters including CNT, NC weight fractions, and the shape factor of fillers on the mechanical properties of PHC beams,as well as fundamental frequencies of free vibrations and critical buckling load. The results show that the increase of shape factor value, NC, and CNT weight fractions leads to considerable reinforcement in mechanical properties as well as increase of the dimensionless fundamental frequency and buckling load. The variation of CNT weight fraction on elastic modulus is more sensitive rather than shear modulus but the effect of NC weight fraction on elastic and shear moduli is fairly the same. The shape factor values more than the medium level do not affect the mechanical properties.  相似文献

The shock tube experiments of inclined air/SF6 interface instability under the shock wave with the Mach numbers 1.23 and 1.41 are conducted. The numerical simulation is done with the parallel algorithm and the multi-viscous-fluid and turbulence (MVFT) code of the large-eddy simulation (LES). The developing process of the interface accelerated by the shock wave is reproduced by the simulations. The complex wave structures, e.g., the propagation, refraction, and reflection of the shock wave, are clearly revealed in the flows. The simulated evolving images of the interface are consistent with the experimental ones. The simulated width of the turbulent mixing zone (TMZ) and the displacements of the bubble and the spike also agree well with the experimental data. Also, the reliability and effectiveness of the MVFT in simulating the problem of interface instability are validated. The more energies are injected into the TMZ when the shock wave has a larger Mach number. Therefore, the perturbed interface develops faster.  相似文献

In this study, the effects of elastic foundations(EFs) and carbon nanotube(CNT) reinforcement on the hydrostatic buckling pressure(HBP) of truncated conical shells(TCSs) are investigated. The first order shear deformation theory(FOSDT) is generalized to the buckling problem of TCSs reinforced with CNTs resting on the EFs for the first time. The material properties of composite TCSs reinforced with CNTs are graded linearly according to the thickness coordinate. The Winkler elastic foundation(W-EF) and Pasternak elastic foundation(P-EF) are considered as the EF. The basic relations and equations of TCSs reinforced with CNTs on the EFs are obtained in the framework of the FOSDT and solved using the Galerkin method. One of the innovations in this study is to obtain a closed-form solution for the HBP of TCSs reinforced with CNTs on the EFs. Finally, the effects of the EFs and various types CNT reinforcements on the HBP are investigated simultaneously. The obtained results are compared with the results in the literature, and the accuracy of results is confirmed.  相似文献

The effects of the renal artery stenosis(RAS) on the blood flow and vesselwalls are investigated. The pulsatile blood flow through an anatomically realistic model ofthe abdominal aorta and renal arteries reconstructed from CT-scan images is simulated, which incorporates the fluid-structure interaction(FSI).In addition to the investigationof the RAS effects on the wall shear stress and the displacement of the vessel wall,it isdetermined that the RAS leads to decrease in the renal mass flow. This may cause theactivation of the renin-angiotension system and results in severe hypertension.  相似文献
