A number of hypotheses were formulated using the properties of an asymptotic solution of boundary-value problems of the three-dimensional micropolar (moment asymmetric) theory of elasticity for areas with one geometrical parameter being substantially smaller than the other two (plates and shells). A general theory of bending deformation of micropolar elastic thin plates with independent fields of displacements and rotations is constructed. In the constructed model of a micropolar elastic plate, transverse shear strains are fully taken into account. A problem of determining the stress-strain state in bending deformation of micropolar elastic thin rectangular plates is considered. The numerical analysis reveals that plates made of a micropolar elastic material have high strength and stiffness characteristics.  相似文献

The unsteady Couette flow of an isothermal incompressible micropolar fluid between two infinite parallel plates is investigated. The motion of the fluid is produced by a time-dependent impulsive motion of the lower plate while the upper plate is set at rest. A linear slip, of Basset type, boundary condition on both plates is used. Two particular cases are discussed; in the first case we have assumed that the plate moves with constant speed and in the second case we have supposed that the plate oscillates tangentially. The solution of the problem is obtained in the Laplace transform domain. The inversion of the Laplace transform is carried out numerically using a numerical method based on Fourier series expansion. Numerical results are represented graphically for the velocity, microrotation, and volume flux for various values of the time, slip and micropolar parameters.  相似文献

In this paper we justify a two-dimensional evolution and eigenvalue model for micropolar plates starting from three-dimensional linearly micropolar elasticity. A small parameter representing the thickness of the plate-like body is introduced in the problem. The asymptotics of the evolution and eigenvalue problems is then developed as this small parameter tends to zero. First the appropriate convergences of the eigenpairs of the three-dimensional problem to the eigenpairs of the two-dimensional eigenvalue problem for micropolar plates is shown. Then these convergences are used in the Fourier method to obtain the convergences of the solution of the three-dimensional evolution problem to the solution of the two-dimensional evolution plate model.   相似文献

Summary This paper analyzes some basic viscous flows of micropolar fluids. The problems ofCouette andPoiseuille flows between two parallel plates and a rotating fluid with a free surface, are solved using the theory of micropolar fluids. The results are presented graphically and compared with the classical ones, and the differences are discussed.  相似文献

Summary This paper analyses the symmetrical bending of laterally loaded circular micropolar plates. The linear theory of micropolar plates has been used to investigate the effect of microstructure of the medium on bending of circular micropolar plates. It is found that the results of the new plate theory are dependent on Poisson's ratio and two new parameters which are related to the material constants of the micropolar plate theory.

This paper considers the unsteady unidirectional flow of a micropolar fluid, produced by the sudden application of an arbitrary time dependent pressure gradient, between two parallel plates. The no-slip and the no-spin boundary conditions are used. Exact solutions for the velocity and microrotation distributions are obtained based on the use of the complex inversion formula of Laplace transform. The solution of the problem is also considered if the upper boundary of the flow is a free surface. The particular cases of a constant and a harmonically oscillating pressure gradient are then examined and some numerical results are illustrated graphically.  相似文献

The response of a micropolar thermoelastic medium possessing cubic symmetry with one relaxation time due to time harmonic sources has been investigated. Fourier transform has been employed and the transform has been inverted by using a numerical inversion technique. The components of displacement, stress, microrotation and temperature distribution in the physical domain are obtained numerically. The results of normal displacement, normal force stress, tangential couple stress and temperature distribution have been compared for micropolar cubic crystal and isotropic micropolar solid. The numerical results are illustrated graphically for a particular material. Some special cases have also been deduced.  相似文献

Numerous experiments have repetitively shown that the material behavior presents effective size dependent mechanical properties at scales of microns or submicrons. In this paper, the size dependent behavior of micropolar theory under conical indentation is studied for different indentation depths and micropolar material parameters. To illustrate the effectiveness of the micropolar theory in predicting the indentation size effect (ISE), an axisymmetric finite element model has been developed for elastoplastic contact analysis of the micropolar materials based on the parametric virtual principle. It is shown that the micropolar parameters contribute to describe the characteristic of ISE at different scales, where the material length scale regulates the rate of hardness change at large indentation depth and the value of micropolar shear module restrains the upper limit of hardness at low indentation depth. The simulation results showed that the indentation loads increase as the result of increased material length scale at any indentation depth, however, the rate of increase is higher for lower indentation depth, relative to conventional continuum. The numerical results are presented for perfectly sharp and rounded tip conical indentations of magnesium oxide and compared with the experimental data for hardness coming from the open literature. It is shown that the satisfactory agreement between the experimental data and the numerical results is obtained, and the better correlation is achieved for the rounded tip indentation compared to the sharp indentation.  相似文献

A generalized continuum representation of two-dimensional periodic cellular solids is obtained by treating these materials as micropolar continua. Linear elastic micropolar constants are obtained using an energy approach for square, equilateral triangular, mixed triangle and diamond cell topologies. The constants are obtained by equating two different continuous approximations of the strain energy function. Furthermore, the effects of shear deformation of the cell walls on the micropolar elastic constants are also discussed. A continuum micropolar finite element approach is developed for numerical simulations of the cell structures. The solutions from the continuum representation are compared with the “exact” discrete simulations of these cell structures for a model problem of elastic indentation of a rectangular domain by a point force. The utility of the micropolar continuum representation is illustrated by comparing various cell structures with respect to the stress concentration factor at the root of a circular notch.  相似文献

In this paper, the field equation of micropolar fluid with general lubrication theory assumptions is simplified into two systems of coupled ordinary differential equation. The analytical solutions of velocity and microrotation velocity are obtained. Micropolar fluid lubrication Reynolds equation is deduced. By means of numerical method, the characteristics of a finitely long journal bearing under various dynamic parameters, geometrical parameters and micropolar parameters are shown in curve form. These characteristics are pressure distribution, load capacity, coefficient of flow flux and coefficient of friction. Practical value of micropolar effects is shown, so micropolar fluid theory further closes to engineering application.  相似文献

In this paper, we present a new united approach to formulate the equivalent micropolar constitutive relation of two-dimensional (2-D) periodic cellular material to capture its non-local properties and to explain the size effects in its structural analysis. The new united approach takes both the displacement compatibility and the equilibrium of forces and moments into consideration, where Taylor series expansion of the displacement and rotation fields and the extended aver-aging procedure with an explicit enforcement of equilibrium are adopted in the micromechanical analysis of a unit cell. In numerical examples, the effective micropolar constants obtained in this paper and others derived in the literature are used for the equivalent micropolar continuum simulation of cellular solids. The solutions from the equivalent analysis are compared with the discrete simulation solutions of the cellu-lar solids. It is found that the micropolar constants developed in this paper give satisfying results of equivalent analysis for the periodic cellular material.  相似文献

In this paper we derive and mathematically justify models of micropolar rods and plates from the equations of linearized micropolar elasticity. Derivation is based on the asymptotic techniques with respect to the small parameter being the thickness of the elastic body we consider. Justification of the models is obtained through the convergence result for the displacement and microrotation fields when the thickness tends to zero. The limiting microrotation is then related to the macrorotation of the cross–section (transversal segment) and the model is rewritten in terms of macroscopic unknowns. The obtained models are recognized as being either the Reissner–Mindlin plate or the Timoshenko beam type.  相似文献

In the present paper the theory of micropolar generalized thermoelastic continua has been employed to study the propagation of plane waves in micropolar thermoelastic plates bordered with inviscid liquid layers (or half-spaces) with varying temperature on both sides. The secular equations in closed form and isolated mathematical conditions are derived and discussed. Thin plate and short wave length results have also been deduced under different cases and situations and discussed as special cases of this work. The results in case of conventional coupled and uncoupled theories of thermoelasticity can be obtained both in case of micropolar elastic and elastokinetics from the present analysis by appropriate choice of relevant parameters. The various secular equations and relevant relations have been solved numerically by using functional iteration method in order to illustrate the analytical developments. Effect of characteristic length and coupling factors have also been studied on phase velocity. The computer simulated results in case of phase velocity, attenuation coefficient and specific loss of symmetric and skew symmetric are presented graphically.  相似文献

This study is concerned with the reflection and transmission of plane waves at an imperfectly bonded interface between two orthotropic micropolar elastic half-spaces with different elastic and micropolar properties. There exist three types of coupled waves in xy-plane. The reflection and transmission coefficients of quasi-longitudinal (QLD) wave, quasi-coupled transverse microrotational (QCTM) wave and quasi-coupled transverse displacement (QCTD) wave have been derived for different incidence waves and deduced for normal force stiffness, transverse force stiffness, transverse couple stiffness and perfect bonding. The numerical values of modules of the reflection and transmission coefficients are presented graphically with the angle of incidence for orthotropic micropolar medium (MOS) and isotropic micrpolar medium (MIS). Some particular cases of interest have been deduced from the present investigation.  相似文献

The time periodic electroosmotic flow of an incompressible micropolar fluid between two infinitely extended microparallel plates is studied. The analytical solutions of the velocity and microrotation are derived under the Debye-H(u|¨)ckel approximation. The effects of the related dimensionless parameters,e.g.,the micropolar parameter, the frequency, the electrokinetic width, and the wall zeta potential ratio of the upper plate to the lower plate,on the electroosmotic velocity and microrotation are investigated. The results show that the amplitudes of the velocity and the volume flow rate will drop to zero when the micropolar parameter increases from 0 to 1.The effects of the electrokinetic width and the frequency on the velocity of the micropolar fluid are similar to those of the Newtonian fluid. However, the dependence of the microrotation on the related parameters mentioned above is complex. In order to describe these effects clearly, the dimensionless microrotation strength and the penetration depth of the microrotation are defined, which are used to explain the variation of the microrotation. In addition, the effects of various parameters on the dimensionless stress tensor at the walls are studied.  相似文献

The electroosmotic flow of a micropolar fluid in a microchannel bounded by two parallel porous plates undergoing periodic vibration is studied. The equations for conservation of linear and angular momentums and Gauss' s law of charge distribution are solved within the framework of the Debye-H¨uckel approximation. The fluid velocity and microrotation are assumed to depend linearly on the Reynolds number. The study shows that the amplitude of microrotation is highly sensitive to the changes in the magnitude of the suction velocity and the width of the microchannel. An increase in the micropolar parameter gives rise to a decrease in the amplitude of microrotation. Numerical estimates reveal that the microrotation of the suspended microelements in blood also plays an important role in controlling the electro-osmotically actuated flow dynamics in microbio-fluidic devices.  相似文献
