The problem about the motion of a pressure pulse at constant velocity along the boundary of an elastic homogeneous half-plane has been examined in [1–3]. The problem was considered as stationary in [1, 2], while in [3] it was solved by using a Laplace time transformation. An analogous problem is considered in this paper for an elastic half-plane with variable Lamé parameters and density of the medium.  相似文献

Summary The compliance tensor related to orthotropic media is spectrally decomposed and its characteristic values are determined. Further, its idempotent tensors are estimated, giving rise to energy orthogonal states of stress and strain, thus decomposing the elastic potential in discrete elements. It is proven that the essential parameters, required for a complete characterisation of the elastic properties of an orthotropic medium, are the six eigenvalues of the compliance tensor, together with a set of three dimensionless parameters, the eigenangles θ, ϕ and ω. In addition, the intervals of variation of these eigenangles with respect to different values of the elastic constants are presented. Furthermore, bounds on Poisson's ratios are obtained by imposing the thermodynamical constraint on the eigenvalues to be strictly positive, as specified from the positive-definite character of the elastic potential. Finally, the conditions are investigated under which a family of orthotropic media behaves like a transversely isotropic or an isotropic one. This paper considers a two-dimensional linear unsteady problem of rigid-stamp indentation on an elastic layer of finite thickness lying on the surface of a compressible fluid of infinite depth. The Lamé equations holds for the elastic layer, and the wave equation for the fluid velocity potential. Using the Laplace and Fourier transforms, the problem is reduced to determining the contact stresses under the stamp from the solution of an integral equation of the first kind, whose kernel has a logarithmic singularity. An asymptotic solution of the problem is constructed for large times of interaction. __________ Translated from Prikladnaya Mekhanika i Tekhnicheskaya Fizika, Vol. 49, No. 2, pp. 131–142, March–April, 2008.  相似文献

Herein we consider polycrystalline aggregates of cubic crystallites with arbitrary texture symmetry. We present a theory in which we keep track of the effects of crystallographic texture on elastic response up to terms quadratic in the texture coefficients. Under this theory, the Lamé constants pertaining to the isotropic part of the effective elasticity tensor of the polycrystal will generally depend on the texture. We introduce also two simple models, which we call HM-V and HM-R, by which we derive an explicit expression for the effective stiffness tensor and one for the effective compliance tensor. Each of these expressions contains a term quadratic in the texture coefficients and, in addition to three parameters given in terms of the single-crystal elastic constants, each carries an undetermined material coefficient. These two remaining coefficients can be determined by imposing the requirement that the expressions from models HM-V and HM-R be compatible to within terms linear in the texture coefficients.  相似文献

The multi-parameter inverse scattering problem of elastic wave equation with single frequency is investigated within Born approximation. By use of a wideband measuring scheme in which both transmitters and receivers scan over the half-space surface, the formula of the scattering field of elastic wave is derived. Four types of mode conversion of elastic wave (P→P,P→S,S→P,S→S) are separated from the scattering field. These components contain sufficient information for us to reconstruct the configurations of the density and Lamé parameters of the medium. The inverse formulas have the form of filtered back-propagation as in the acoustic diffraction tomography. Computer simulations are also obtained. The Voigt-Reuss-Hill (VRH) average provides a simple way to estimate the elastic constants of a textured polycrystal in terms of its crystallographic texture and the elastic constants of the constituting crystallites. Empirically the VRH estimates were found in most cases to have an accuracy comparable to those obtained by more sophisticated techniques such as self-consistent schemes. In this paper we determine, in the space of fourth-order tensors with major and minor symmetries, a special set of irreducible basis tensors, with which we obtain a simple explicit formula for the VRH average for elastic polycrystals with arbitrary crystal and texture symmetries. Our formula is correct to first order in the texture coefficients.  相似文献

Homogenization may change fundamentally the constitutive laws of materials. We show how a heterogeneous Cauchy continuum may lead to a non Cauchy continuum. We study the effective properties of a linear elastic medium reinforced periodically with thin parallel fibers made up of a much stronger linear elastic medium and we prove that, when the Lamé coefficients in the fibers and the radius of the fibers have appropriate order of magnitude, the effective material is a second gradient material, i.e. a material whose energy depends on the second gradient of the displacement.  相似文献

We develop a method through the mirror plane (MP) to identify the symmetry type of linear elastic stiffness tensor whose components are given with respect to an arbitrarily oriented coordinate system. The method is based on the irreducible decomposition of high-order tensor into a set of deviators and the multipole representation of a deviator into a scalar and a unit-vector set. Since a unit-vector depends on two Euler angles, we can illustrate the MP normals of the elastic tensor as zeros of a characteristic function on a unit disk and identify its symmetry immediately, which is clearer and simpler than the methods proposed before. Furthermore, by finding the common MPs of three unit-vector sets using Fortran recipes, we can also analytically recognize the symmetry type first and then recover the natural coordinate system associated with the linear elastic tensor. The structures of linear elastic stiffness tensors of real materials with all possible anisotropies are investigated in detail.  相似文献

In this paper, Neumann cracks in elastic bodies are considered. We establish a rigorous asymptotic expansion for the boundary perturbations of the displacement (and traction) vectors that are due to the presence of a small elastic linear crack. The formula reveals that the leading order term is ε 2 where ε is the length of the crack, and the ε 3-term vanishes. We obtain an asymptotic expansion of the elastic potential energy as an immediate consequence of the boundary perturbation formula. The derivation is based on layer potential techniques. It is expected that the formula would lead to very effective direct approaches for locating a collection of small elastic cracks and estimating their sizes and orientations.  相似文献

We perform the group foliation of the system of Lamé equations of the classical dynamical theory of elasticity for an infinite subgroup contained in a normal divisor of the main group. The resolving system of this foliation includes the following two classical systems of mathematical physics: the system of equations of vortex-free acoustics and the system of Maxwell equations, which allows one to use wider groups to obtain exact solutions of the Lamé equations. We obtain a first-order conformal-invariant system, which describes shear waves in a three-dimensional elastic medium. We also give examples of partially invariant solutions.  相似文献

Surface Impedance Tensors of Textured Polycrystals   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
A formula for the surface impedance tensors of orthorhombic aggregates of cubic crystallites is given explicitly in terms of the material constants and the texture coefficients. The surface impedance tensor is a Hermitian second-order tensor which, for a homogeneous elastic half-space, maps the displacements given at the surface to the tractions needed to sustain them. This tensor plays a fundamental role in Stroh's formalism for anisotropic elasticity. In this paper we account for the effects of crystallographic texture only up to terms linear in the texture coefficients and give an explicit formula for the terms in the surface impedance tensor up to those linear in the texture coefficients. This revised version was published online in June 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

We study the homogenization of an elastic material in contact with periodic parallel elastic rectangular cross-section fibres of higher rigidity. The interactions between the matrix and the fibres are described by a local adhesion contact law with interfacial adhesive stiffness parameter depending on the period. Assuming that the Lamé constants in the fibres and the stiffness parameter have appropriate orders of magnitude, we derive a class of energy functionals involving extension, flexure and torsion terms.  相似文献

In more detail as in [1], we study tensor modules of even orders and the eigenvalue and eigentensor problem for tensors of any even rank. The canonical representation of a tensor in the module ?2p (Ω) is given. We present several statements and theorems about the eigentensors for tensors of even rank, and for adjoint, normal, Hermitian, and unitary tensors in a module of even order. We note that the eigenvalue and eigentensor problem for the tensor of elastic moduli was studied by Ya. Rykhlevskii in 1983–1984. Earlier, it was studied for tensors of any even rank by I. N. Vekua.  相似文献

A solution for the overall electromechanical response of two-phase dielectric elastomer composites with (random or periodic) particulate microstructures is derived in the classical limit of small deformations and moderate electric fields. In this limit, the overall electromechanical response is characterized by three effective tensors: a fourth-order tensor describing the elasticity of the material, a second-order tensor describing its permittivity, and a fourth-order tensor describing its electrostrictive response. Closed-form formulas are derived for these effective tensors directly in terms of the corresponding tensors describing the electromechanical response of the underlying matrix and the particles, and the one- and two-point correlation functions describing the microstructure. This is accomplished by specializing a new iterative homogenization theory in finite electroelastostatics (Lopez-Pamies, 2014) to the case of elastic dielectrics with even coupling between the mechanical and electric fields and, subsequently, carrying out the pertinent asymptotic analysis.Additionally, with the aim of gaining physical insight into the proposed solution and shedding light on recently reported experiments, specific results are examined and compared with an available analytical solution and with new full-field simulations for the special case of dielectric elastomers filled with isotropic distributions of spherical particles with various elastic dielectric properties, including stiff high-permittivity particles, liquid-like high-permittivity particles, and vacuous pores.  相似文献

The existence of frequency-dependent fundamental solutions for anisotropic, inhomogeneous continua under plane strain conditions is a necessary pre-requisite for studying wave motion, either in geological media or in composites with both depth and direction-dependent material parameters. The path followed herein for recovering such types of solutions is (a) to use a simple algebraic transformation for the displacement vector so as to bring about a governing partial differential equation of motion with constant coefficients, albeit at the cost of introducing a series of constraints on the types of material profiles; (b) to carefully examine these constraints, which reveal a rather rich range of possible variations of the elastic moduli in both vertical and lateral directions; and (c) to use the Radon transformation for handling material anisotropy. Depending on the type of constraints that have been introduced, two basic classes of materials are identified, namely ‘Case A’ where further restrictions are placed on the elasticity tensor and ‘Case B’ where further restrictions are placed on the material profile. We note at this point that for isotropic materials, the elasticity tensor constraints correspond to equal Lamé constants or, alternatively, to a fixed Poisson's ratio. The present methodology is quite general and the homogeneous anisotropic medium, as well as the inhomogeneous isotropic one, can both be recovered as special cases from the results given herein.  相似文献

The effective elastic behavior of a transversely isotropic composite made from two incompressible elastic materials is examined. The set of all effective elasticity tensors for transversely isotropic finite rank laminar microstructures is described. The extremal property of this class of microstructures is used to derive a new more precise characterization of the set of effective shear moduli. The perturbation series for the effective elasticity tensor is considered. An explicit formula for the second order perturbation tensor is derived. We describe precisely the set of tensors that correspond to all second order perturbations consistent with transverse isotropy. We apply analytic methods [cf. 27] to show that all second order perturbation tensors are realized by finite rank laminar microstructures.Supported by NSF through Grant DMS-3907658.  相似文献

The three-dimensional Lamé equations are solved using Cartesian and curvilinear orthogonal coordinates. It is proved that the solution includes only three independent harmonic functions. The general solution of equations of elasticity for stresses is found. The stress tensor is expressed in both coordinate systems in terms of three harmonic functions. The general solution of the problem of elasticity in cylindrical coordinates is presented as an example. The three-dimensional stress–strain state of an elastic cylinder subjected, on the lateral surface, to arbitrary forces represented by a series of eigenfunctions is determined. An axisymmetric problem for a finite cylinder is solved numerically  相似文献
