The measurement of the coefficients of thermal expansion (CTEs) of composite materials using electrical resistance strain gages is addressed. Analytical expressions for the CTEs of an orthotropic lamina are derived, accounting for the effects of transverse sensitivity and possible misalignment of the gages. Experiments are performed for the characterization of the thermal expansion behavior of a fiber-glass-reinforced epoxy unidirectional lamina using an invar specimen as reference material. Preliminary training cycles are performed for the determination of an optimal heating rate for the measurements, which ensures thermal equilibrium conditions. Three measurement cycles yield the principal CTEs of the lamina α1, α2 and α12 with repeatability within ±0.34×10−6, ±0.85×10−6 and ±2.8×10−6/°C, respectively. It is noted that inhomogeneity of the specimen and variation in thermomechanical properties of the gages can cause a noticeable spead in the measurements.  相似文献

The elastostatic solutions of semi-infinite orthotropic cantilevered strips with traction free edges and loading at infinity are governed by the differential equation φ,xyxy+(2+δ0)φ,xyzzz+φ,zzzz with δ0>-4. Based on the work of [10] for δ0>0 case, this paper completes the case δ0=0 for isotropic materials and the case 0>δ0>-4 for orthotropic materials. The solutions of the above problems have important application in the properly formulated boundary conditions of plate theories for prescribed displacement edge data.  相似文献

Summary  Using Stroh's formalism and the theory of analytic functions, simple and explicit solutions for a line dislocation in an infinite anisotropic elastic strip are obtained. The two boundaries of the strip are free of traction. The problem of a dislocation in an anisotropic elastic semi-infinite strip with traction-free boundaries is also studied. A set of singular integral equations governing the unknown functions is derived. When the medium is orthogonal anisotropic and the coordinate axes x 1 x 2 x 3 are coincident with the material principal axes, all the eigenvalues of the material coefficient matrix are pure imaginary. Explicit expressions of the unknown functions are given for this case. The results obtained are valid not only for plane and anti-plane problems but also for coupled problems between in-plane and out-of-plane deformations. The velocity field and the associated shear stress corresponding to the torsional oscillatory flow of a second grade fluid, between two infinite coaxial circular cylinders, are determined by means of the Laplace and Hankel transforms. At time t = 0, the fluid and both the cylinders are at rest and at t = 0 + , cylinders suddenly begin to oscillate around their common axis in a simple harmonic way having angular frequencies ω 1 and ω 2 . The obtained solutions satisfy the governing differential equation and all imposed initial and boundary conditions. The solutions for the motion between the cylinders, when one of them is at rest, can be obtained from our general solutions. Furthermore, the corresponding solutions for Newtonian fluid are also obtained as limiting cases of our general solutions.  相似文献

We investigate the asymptotic behavior of solutions of the damped nonlinear oscillator equation
where uf(u) > 0 for u ≠ 0, a(t) ≥ 0, and α is a positive constant with 0 < α ≥ 1. The case α = 1 has been investigated by a number of other authors. Here, it is shown that the behavior of solutions in the case of sublinear damping (0 < α < 1) is completely different from that in the case of linear damping (α = 1). Sufficient conditions for all nonoscillatory solutions to converge to zero and sufficient conditions for the existence of a nonoscillatory solution that does not converge to zero are given. We also give sufficient conditions for all solutions to be nonoscillatory. Here the velocity field and the associated tangential stress corresponding to the rotational flow of a generalized second grade fluid within an infinite circular cylinder are determined by means of the Laplace and finite Hankel transforms. At time t=0 the fluid is at rest and the motion is produced by the rotation of the cylinder around its axis. The solutions that have been obtained are presented under series form in terms of the generalized G-functions. The similar solutions for ordinary second grade and Newtonian fluids are obtained from general solution for β→1, respectively, β→1 and α 1→0. Finally, the influences of the pertinent parameters on the fluid motion, as well as a comparison between models, is underlined by graphical illustrations.  相似文献

Explicit formulae for the fundamental solution of the linearized time dependent Navier–Stokes equations in three spatial dimensions are obtained. The linear equations considered in this paper include those used to model rigid bodies that are translating and rotating at a constant velocity. Estimates extending those obtained by Solonnikov in [23] for the fundamental solution of the time dependent Stokes equations, corresponding to zero translational and angular velocity, are established. Existence and uniqueness of solutions of these linearized problems is obtained for a class of functions that includes the classical Lebesgue spaces Lp(R3), 1 < p < ∞. Finally, the asymptotic behavior and semigroup properties of the fundamental solution are established.  相似文献
