The unsteady-state nonlinear problem of spreading of a drop of a viscous fluid on the horizontal surface of a solid under the action of gravity and capillary forces is considered for small Reynolds numbers. The method of asymptotic matching is applied to solve the axisymmetrical problem of spreading when the gravity exerts a significant effect on the dynamics of the drop. The flow structure in the drop is determined at large times in the neighborhood of a self-similar solution. The ranges of applicability of the quasiequilibrium model of drop spreading with a dynamic edge angle and a self-similar solution are found. It is shown that the transition from one flow model to another occurs at very large Bond numbers. We solve a nonlinear orbital stability problem for a periodic motion of a homogeneous paraboloid of revolution over an immovable horizontal plane in a homogeneous gravity field. The plane is assumed to be absolutely smooth, and the body–plane collisions are assumed to be absolutely elastic. In the unperturbed motion, the symmetry axis of the body is vertical, and the body itself is in translational motion with periodic collisions with the plane.The Poincare´ section surfacemethod is used to reduce the problemto studying the stability of a fixed point of an area-preserving mapping of the plane into itself. The stability and instability conditions are obtained for all admissible values of the problem parameters.  相似文献

This paper gives results of an experimental study of incident and reflected waves of the bore type in the neighborhood of a sharp change in the channel bed level. Diffusive shrinkage of a void within a grian of a stressed polycrystal   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
A method to predict the shrinkage rate of a void centered at an equiaxial grain under hydrostatic pressure is developed. The rate process is controlled by lattice diffusion under the combined influence of void surface energy, grain boundary interface energy and elastic energy stored in the solid. A dimensionless loading parameter that controls the void evolving is introduced. Below a certain value of this parameter the void will be rounded and is stable. Then the shrinkage behavior of the voids is described by the parameters controlling the lattice diffusion. It is found that only gas-free voids could be totally eliminated through lattice diffusion; for a gas-filled void, the internal pressure produced by the gas firstly retards the rate of the shrinkage and eventually stops the shrinkage process as it becomes high enough.  相似文献

A new method of pumping a fluid through a microchannel device using a gas bubble-piston, set in motion by the thermocapillary force induced by a light beam, is proposed. To demonstrate the method, a model micropump has been assembled. The model consists of two reservoirs connected by two channels with a bubble-piston driven by a light beam. The pumping rate and the volume per piston stroke are evaluated experimentally. The method proposed is compared with known microfluid pumping methods. Some advantages of the new method are indicated.  相似文献

In this paper we continue a numerical study of the dynamical behavior of a model of a suspended railway wheelset. We investigate the effect of speed and suspension and flange stiffnesses on the dynamics. Numerical bifurcation analysis is applied and one- and two-dimensional bifurcation diagrams are constructed. The onset of chaos as a function of speed, spring stiffness, and flange forces is investigated through the calculation of Lyapunov exponents with adiabatically varying parameters. The different transitions to chaos in the system are discussed and analyzed using symbolic dynamics. Finally, we discuss the change in orbit structure as stochastic perturbations are taken into account.  相似文献

This paper studies the properties of a model of a block medium consisting of absolutely rigid blocks separated by deformable layers. The model is proposed to describe the low-frequency spectral region of a perturbation wave propagating in the medium of this structure. The model is based on the assumption that the low-frequency part of the wave train provides the least distorted information on the average characteristics of the structure of the medium on the wave pathway. Calculation of waves in a one-dimensional assembly of blocks (rods) and deformable layers show that the model ignoring the deformation of the blocks is applicable only in the case where the stiffness of the layer is low compared to the stiffness of the rod. A correction is applied to eliminate this restriction in the case of a long-wave approximation.  相似文献

The axially symmetric motion of a gas in a volume confined between an external immobile surface of rotation and a coaxial surface of a rotating sphere is considered. A solution is obtained by the moment method based on the Boltzmann equation with a collision integral of Maxwellian molecules. The gas-velocity distribution and an expression for the friction torque exerted on the sphere are obtained for arbitrary Knudsen numbers and for an arbitrary shape of the outer surface. The proportionality of the gas slip velocity over the surface of the sphere to the friction strain is shown. The friction torque is investigated for specific shapes of the outer surface. The motion of a gas filling the space between concentric spheres, each of which rotates about an arbitrary axis, is treated. The stability of a long plate (strip) made of a layered composite with a curved structure is studied within the framework of the three-dimensional linearized theory of stability. The cases of simply supported and rigidly fixed plates compressed along the layers are considered. The curvature of the layers is allowed for within the framework of the continuum approach. The two-dimensional problem of the configuration of a flexible filament of finite length in a deformable viscous fluid is solved. The flexuural stresses in the filament and the inertial and gravitational forces are not taken into account. The equilibrium equations are obtained. The friction force that acts on the filament surface from the side of the viscous fluid is proportional to the flow rate. The specific features of the evolution of a bent filament under the conditions of pure and simple shear of a fluid are studied numerically. Analytical solutions are obtained for the evolution of a rectilinear filament; in particular, the stretching force in the filament is found. For the indicated types of flow, the stability of a rectilinear filament against small perturbations is investigated. A new model is developed for describing long-wave perturbations in a falling film of a viscous liquid. The model is based on an integral approach and an expansion of the velocity profile into a series in linearly independent basis functions of a boundary-value problem. A linear analysis of film flow stability is performed, and dispersion dependences are obtained. Results predicted by the new model are demonstrated to be in good agreement with available experimental data on the film flow over a gently sloping surface.  相似文献

We consider the stationary plane-parallel convective flow, studied in [1], which appears in a two-dimensional horizontal layer of a liquid in the presence of a longitudinal temperature gradient. In the present paper we examine the stability of this flow relative to small perturbations. To solve the spectral amplitude problem and to determine the stability boundaries we apply a version of the Galerkin method, which was used earlier for studying the stability of convective flows in vertical and inclined layers in the presence of a transverse temperature difference or of internal heat sources (see [2]). A horizontal plane-parallel flow is found to be unstable relative to two critical modes of perturbations. For small Prandtl numbers the instability has a hydrodynamic character and is associated with the development of vortices on the boundary of counterflows. The stability of an elastic plate and an elastic panel placed in a supersonic gas flow is studied in a nonlinear formulation. The gas velocity vector is directed at a small angle to them. An exact analytic solution is found to the following plane hydrodynamic problem. An unbounded flow of an ideal incompressible fluid flows around a plate BB' placed at right angles to the velocity vector of the flow at infinity. The pressure on the free boundary P is equal to the pressure in the flow. From an opening in the center of the plate, a jet with flow rate Q from a cavity with pressure P0 encounters the flow head-on. As a result of the solution, it is found that for fixed width of the opening the values of Q allowed by the scheme are limited. In the limiting case Q = 0 Chaplygin's flow is obtained with stagnation region at the front [1], and in the limiting case Q = Qmax a jet out of a cavity with pressure P0 into a cavity with pressure P. As Q varies in this interval, the total drag, regarded as the drag of the plate and the chamber from which the jet emerges, takes a minimal value at a certain point. If the width of the opening tends to the length of the slab, the problem of the collision of two jets is obtained; if the width of the opening tends to zero (Q o), the problem of jet flow past a slab with a source is obtained. The problem of the asymmetric flow around a cylinder of a nonviscous jet is considered and, in particular, of flow with one free boundary. The problem of the choice of circulation is posed, based on a generalization of the Zhukovskii-Chaplygin postulate.
