A hypersonic shock-tunnel flow around an axisymmetric model of a planetary entry probe is analyzed. Planar laser-induced fluorescence is applied to measure both the velocity and the rotational temperature everywhere in the central plane of the flow field. The experimental test case is compared to simulations using the direct simulation Monte Carlo (DSMC) method. While the Mach 9.7 flow at a freestream Reynolds number based on the model diameter of 35,000 is chemically frozen, effects of thermal non-equilibrium and localized rarefaction cannot be neglected. DSMC and measurements agree well within the outer wake, but disagree close to the centerline, where in particular the measured velocity is higher than values predicted by the simulations. The experimental results indicated a shorter recirculation region and increased local fluctuations in the free shear layer upstream of the wake recompression shock when compared to the simulation. These effects are attributed to incipient transition, which is not observed in the simulations, as the simulations did not model the effects of freestream fluctuations. Furthermore, measured and simulated vorticities are compared with theoretical predictions.  相似文献

 Planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF) of seeded nitric oxide was used to obtain mean 2-D temperature and pressure fields in the near-wake region of a thick flat plate in a Mach 3 flow. A two-line ratio technique was used to obtain the temperature field, while an image obtained at the limit of low quenching rate was used to infer the pressure field. An analysis shows that these time-average measurements can suffer from significant weighted averaging bias errors in regions where there are large temperature fluctuations; however, these bias errors can be minimized by judicious selection of the absorption lines used. The resulting temperature field reveals the warm upstream boundary layer, the temperature jump across the recompression shocks and the expected minimum and maximum temperatures in the expansion and recirculation regions, respectively. The pressure measurements indicate a uniform low pressure in the base region, a rapid increase near reattachment, followed by a gradual approach to the free stream value farther downstream. A molecular Rayleigh scattering technique is utilized to measure gas temperature, velocity, and density in unseeded gas flows at sampling rates up to 10 kHz, providing fluctuation information up to 5 kHz based on the Nyquist theorem. A high-power continuous-wave laser beam is focused at a point in an air flow field and Rayleigh scattered light is collected and fiber-optically transmitted to a Fabry–Perot interferometer for spectral analysis. Photomultiplier tubes operated in the photon counting mode allow high-frequency sampling of the total signal level and the circular interference pattern to provide dynamic density, temperature, and velocity measurements. Mean and root mean square velocity, temperature, and density, as well as power spectral density calculations, are presented for measurements in a hydrogen-combustor heated jet facility with a 50.8-mm diameter nozzle at NASA John H. Glenn Research Center at Lewis Field. The Rayleigh measurements are compared with particle image velocimetry data and computational fluid dynamics predictions. This technique is aimed at aeronautics research related to identifying noise sources in free jets, as well as applications in supersonic and hypersonic flows where measurement of flow properties, including mass flux, is required in the presence of shocks and ionization occurrence.  相似文献

Simultaneous stereoscopic PIV, OH and acetone planar laser-induced fluorescence measurements are performed to analyze the processes involved in the enhancement of flame stabilization by electric field. Instantaneous velocity and mixture fraction fields are measured simultaneously at the base of a lifted flame to analyze whether the flow properties in front of the flame when electric field is applied are compatible with a mechanism involving ionic wind. The measurements conditioned on the instantaneous flame bases with and without the electric field are compared. The velocity in front of the flame decreases with electric field what is in agreement with the assumption involving ionic wind. To analyze the mixture in front of the flame, a joined analysis of velocity and mixture fraction is required to show the mixture stays near stoichiometry when the electric field is applied. The need of a joined analysis illustrates the interest of performing the three laser diagnostics simultaneously.  相似文献

利用等离子体激励器发展了新型的环量增升技术,并对二维NACA0012翼型绕流实施控制。由于NACA0012翼型为尖后缘构型,环量增升装置由2个非对称型介质阻挡放电等离子体激励器构成。一个等离子体激励器贴附于翼型吸力面靠近后缘处,其诱导的壁面射流沿来流方向指向下游;另一个等离子体激励器贴附于翼型压力面靠近后缘处,其诱导的壁面射流与来流方向相反指向上游。在风洞中通过时间解析二维PIV系统对翼型绕流流场进行了测量,基于翼型弦长的雷诺数Re=20 000。结果表明在等离子体激励器的控制下,翼型压力面靠近后缘处可以形成一个定常回流区,从而起到虚拟气动外形的作用,因此翼型吸力面的流场得到加速,压力面的流场得到减速,使得翼型压力面的吸力以及压力面的压力都得到增加,进而增加了翼型的环量。风洞天平测力实验进一步验证了该环量增升技术的有效性。在整个攻角范围内,施加控制的翼型的升力系数相比没有控制的工况有明显的提高。  相似文献

在低密度风洞试验流场中,加入少量纳米粒子,可以增强瑞利散射测速试验的散射光强度.纳米粒子能否适应流场气流速度变化是测量结果准确性的关键.为了研究瑞利散射测速实验中测量到的纳米粒子的速度能否反映流场当地气流速度,采用基于直接模拟蒙特卡罗方法的稀薄两相流双向耦合算法,对低密度风洞流场中纳米粒子在大梯度流场中的跟随性进行了数值研究.仿真了10 nm,50 nm和100 nm TiO2三种尺寸的纳米粒子分别在M6和M12低密度风洞返回舱高超声速绕流流场中的运动特性.仿真结果显示,不同尺寸的纳米粒子在不同的流场稀薄度条件下的跟随性不同,纳米粒子尺寸越小,跟随性越好.在稀薄度较低的M6流场中,10 nm粒子跟随性很好,与瑞利散射测量结果比较接近,粒径50 nm以上的粒子跟随性较差,而在稀薄度较高的M12流场中,10 nm粒子的跟随性也变差,表明通过瑞利散射测量到的纳米粒子速度和流场中气体速度有一定差距,不能准确反映流场当地速度.  相似文献

An asymptotic analysis of the turbulent near-wake flow behind an infinitely yawed flat plate with sharp trailing edge has been formulated. The feature that the near-wake which is dominated by mixing of oncoming turbulent boundary layers, retains to a large extent the memory of the turbulent structure of the upstream boundary layer has been exploited to develop the analysis. This analysis leads to three regions of wake flow (the inner near-wake, the outer near-wake and the far-wake) for which the governing equations are derived. The matching conditions amongst these regions lead to logarithmic variations for both the components (i.e. components perpendicular to and along the trailing edge) of velocity vector in both normal and downstream directions in the overlapping region surrounding the inner near-wake. These features are validated by the available experimental data. Similarity solutions for both the components of the velocity vector (which satisfy the required matching conditions) in the inner near-wake and outer near-wake regions have been obtained by making appropriate eddy-viscosity assumptions. Uniformly valid solutions for both the components of the velocity vector have been constructed for the near-wake. The solutions show good agreement with available experimental data.  相似文献

A technique for measuring three-dimensional velocity by imaging the displacement of a marked fluid line is described, together with its use in an automotive visualization engine. In a flow seeded with 2–3 μ phosphorescing particles, a line is excited by a UV laser beam, deformed by the local velocity field, and detected by stereo low-light-level video cameras. The derivation of velocity from digitized images is discussed and capabilities of the diagnostic are assessed. Some image data taken in the engine are shown and quantitative two-component velocity plots along the line are presented.  相似文献

Oscillating jet actuators have been implemented and tested on a circular cylinder. Their action on the separation of turbulent boundary layers is investigated using complementary approaches. Wall pressure distribution shows that a large lift is generated, at the expense, however, of a slightly increased drag. Particle image velocimetry measurements provide the mean and fluctuating velocity fields in the near-wake. The control jet deflects the mean flux lines towards the wall, illustrating that the separation is delayed. This effect appears more and more powerful as the pulsed jet velocity increases. Phase averaging of the PIV fields shows that periodic structures are generated by the control, and how these structures modify the aerodynamic forces by entraining the external flow towards the wall. Finally, a few comparisons are made with laminar boundary layers and some general mechanisms are presented for the lift increase.  相似文献

In this study, a passive flow control experiment on a 3D bluff-body using vortex generators (VGs) is presented. The bluff-body is a modified Ahmed body (Ahmed in J Fluids Eng 105:429–434 1983) with a curved rear part, instead of a slanted one, so that the location of the flow separation is no longer forced by the geometry. The influence of a line of non-conventional trapezoïdal VGs on the aerodynamic forces (drag and lift) induced on the bluff-body is investigated. The high sensitivity to many geometric (angle between the trapezoïdal element and the wall, spanwise spacing between the VGs, longitudinal location on the curved surface) and physical (freestream velocity) parameters is clearly demonstrated. The maximum drag reduction is ?12%, while the maximum global lift reduction can reach more than ?60%, with a strong dependency on the freestream velocity. For some configurations, the lift on the rear axle of the model can be inverted (?104%). It is also shown that the VGs are still efficient even downstream of the natural separation line. Finally, a dynamic parameter is chosen and a new set-up with motorized vortex generators is proposed. Thanks to this active device. The optimal configurations depending on two parameters are found more easily, and a significant drag and lift reduction (up to ?14% drag reduction) can be reached for different freestream velocities. These results are then analyzed through wall pressure and velocity measurements in the near-wake of the bluff-body with and without control. It appears that the largest drag and lift reduction is clearly associated to a strong increase of the size of the recirculation bubble over the rear slant. Investigation of the velocity field in a cross-section downstream the model reveals that, in the same time, the intensity of the longitudinal trailing vortices is strongly reduced, suggesting that the drag reduction is due to the breakdown of the balance between the separation bubble and the longitudinal vortices. It demonstrates that for low aspect ratio 3D bluff-bodies, like road vehicles, the flow control strategy is much different from the one used on airfoils: an early separation of the boundary layer can lead to a significant drag reduction if the circulation of the trailing vortices is reduced.  相似文献

This study deals with the behavior of shallow turbulent wakes generated on smooth and rough surfaces. The wake generator used is a flat plate placed normal to the flow. Experiments were conducted at flow depths of 40 and 80 mm. The boundary layer thickness in the approaching flow occupies 60–75% of the flow depth. The Reynolds number based on the plate width and approaching freestream velocity varies from 13.0 × 103 to 14.5 × 103. Velocity measurements were carried out in the near-wake region (1–10 plate widths) using a laser-Doppler anemometer. The mean velocity distributions at various axial stations collapse onto a single curve by a proper choice of the length and velocity scales. It is important to note that a sense of self-similarity is attained even in the near-wake region. Experimental evidence is reported, regarding the formation of a pair of co-rotating tip vortices by a split wing configuration, consisting of two half wings at equal and opposite angles of attack. Simultaneous measurements of the three-dimensional vector fields of velocity and vorticity were conducted on a cross plane at a downstream distance corresponding to 0.3 cord lengths (near wake), using an in-house constructed 12-sensor hot wire anemometry vorticity probe. The probe consists of three closely separated orthogonal 4-wire velocity sensor arrays, measuring simultaneously the three-dimensional velocity vector at three closely spaced locations on a cross plane of the flow filed. This configuration makes possible the estimation of spatial velocity derivatives by means of a forward difference scheme of first order accuracy. Velocity measurements obtained with an X-wire are also presented for comparison. In this near wake location, the flow field is dictated by the pressure distribution established by the flow around the wings, mobilizing large masses of air and leading to the roll up of fluid sheets. Fluid streams penetrating between the wings collide, creating on the cross plane flow a stagnation point and an “impermeable” line joining the two vortex centres. Along this line fluid is directed towards the two vortices, expanding their cores and increasing their separation distance. This feeding process generates a dipole of opposite sign streamwise mean vorticity within each vortex. The rotational flow within the vortices obligates an adverse streamwise pressure gradient leading to a significant streamwise velocity deficit characterizing the vortices. The turbulent flow field is the result of temporal changes in the intensity of the vortex formation and changes in the position of the cores (wandering).  相似文献

高超声速附面层的转捩预测一直是流体力学研究中的难点,转捩前后物面的摩擦系数和传热系数会发生改变,转捩位置的不同会影响到飞行器表面热环境,进而使得飞行器的气动弹性特性发生显著变化.鉴于高超声速附面层转捩预测的不确定性,本文分析了转捩位置对高超声速全动舵面热气动弹性的影响.首先分别用层流模型和湍流模型求解N-S方程,得到气动热环境,并对气动热进行参数化;然后在不同转捩位置情况下构造出不同转捩位置的热分布模型,基于此种温度分布,结合热应力和材料属性的影响分析结构的热模态,将结构模态插值到气动网格上,采用基于CFD的当地流活塞理论进行气动弹性分析.以M=6,H=15 km的某舵面为对象进行计算,结果表明:(1)随着转捩位置向后缘移动,结构频率上升,结构颤振速度呈增大趋势,转捩位置的变化能够带来颤振临界速度最大6%的变化量;(2)当转捩位置位于舵轴附近时,结构的颤振特性变化剧烈.通过刚度特性的分解和分析发现,导致颤振特性变化的主要因素在于舵轴的刚度特性变化,舵轴的影响量占整个结构刚度特性变化量的80%以上.  相似文献

Thermal anemometry is a classic flow-velocity measurement technique that is known to suffer from the inability to discern the flow direction. The current paper describes an innovative approach whereby an oscillating hot wire is used to extract velocity direction and magnitude information from single hot-wire measurements. It is shown that the new sensor operates in one of two modes depending on the velocity amplitude of the wire oscillation. Furthermore, results from applying the technique to measure the phase-averaged velocity in an oscillating pipe flow experiment are presented. The results from the hot-wire measurements show good agreement with those from laser Doppler velocimetery measurements in the same facility.  相似文献

Buoyant jet diffusion flames are known to exhibit large scale vortical flow structures strongly interacting with flame structures. In the present work, the formation and evolution of coherent flow structures is studied in a methane/ air coflow arrangement. This is accomplished by utilizing visualization techniques (planar laser induced hydroxyl fluorescence and Mie-scattering) and Laser Doppler Velocimetry. A striking repeatability and correlation of evolving coherent structures of the air co-flow and the reaction zone is observed. In the transitional region, flow and flame structures oscillate at very pure frequencies ranging from 10–15 Hz. A local absolutely unstable velocity profile close to the burner rim seems to be responsible. Self-excited axisymmetric wavelike structures propagate up- and downstream of this location. We study the influence of the exit velocities and the type of coflowing oxidizer (air or oxygen) on the location of transition to periodic flow structures and related frequencies. In this paper, we investigate a potential of local control of the viscous force in a microfluidic device for a noncontact microflow manipulation method. Photothermal effect and temperature dependence of the liquid viscosity play a key role to induce an inhomogeneous viscosity distribution in the flow field in a microchannel. Absorption of focused laser beam generates the local change in the viscosity of liquid corresponding to the temperature change. The velocity and temperature fields are measured by the micron-resolution particle image velocimetry and laser-induced fluorescence, respectively. Measurement results indicate that the local reduction of the fluid viscosity due to the temperature rise can cause the change of the flow structure in the microchannel. At the focused area of heating laser beam, namely high temperature area, the flow velocity was increased. The accompanying fluid behavior around the heated region was also recognized. In addition, the agreement between the experimental results and numerical simulation clarifies that the primary factor for the change of the microflow structure is the locally controlled viscous force.  相似文献

Dependences of the drag and lift coefficients of a magnetized sphere in a hypersonic rarefied plasma flow on the angle between the plasma flow velocity and the self-magnetic field induction vector of the body are obtained in a wide range of the ratio of the magnetic pressure to the plasma flow pressure. It is shown that changing the orientation of the magnetic field vector of the body and the incoming flow velocity can be used to control the dynamic interaction in the plasma–body system, namely, to decelerate and accelerate the magnetized sphere in a rarefied hypersonic plasma flow.  相似文献

The effect of the streamwise vortex generators on the near-wake flow structure of a circular cylinder was experimentally investigated. Digital particle image velocimetry (DPIV) measurements were performed in a large circulating water tunnel facility at a Reynolds number of 41,300 where the flow around a bare cylinder was expected to be at the sub-critical flow state. In order to capture various flow properties and to provide a detailed wake flow topology, the DPIV images were analysed with three different but complementary flow field decomposition techniques which are Reynolds averaging, phase averaging and proper orthogonal decomposition (POD). The effect of the vortex generators was clearly demonstrated both in qualitative and in quantitative manner. Various topological features such as vorticity and stress distribution of the flow fields as well as many other key flow characteristics including the length scales and the Strouhal number were discussed in the study. To the best of the authors’ knowledge, the study presents the first DPIV visualization of the near-wake flow of a circular cylinder fitted with the vortex generators in the open literature.  相似文献

A semi-implicit Lagrangian finite difference scheme for 3D shallow water flow has been developed to include an eddy viscosity model for turbulent mixing in the vertical direction. The α-co-ordinate system for the vertical direction has been introduced to give accurate definition of bed and surface boundary conditions. The simple two-layer mixing length model for rough surfaces is used with the standard assumption that the shear stress across the wall region at a given horizontal location is constant. The bed condition is thus defined only by its roughness height (avoiding the need for a friction formula relating to depth-averaged flow, e.g. Chezy, used previously). The method is shown to be efficient and stable with an explicit Lagrangian formulation for convective terms and terms for surface elevation and vertical mixing handled implicitly. The method is applied to current flow around a circular island with gently sloping sides which produce periodic recirculation zones (vortex shedding). Comparisons are made with experimental measurements of velocity using laser Doppler anemometry (time histories at specific points) and surface particle-tracking velocimetry.  相似文献
