In this work a study of the application of the finite element method to transonic flows in axial turbomachines is undertaken. Solution techniques capable of accurately predicting flows from the incompressible regime up to the establishment of shocks in the transonic regime are presented. In the subsonic and shockless transonic regimes a local linearization method capable of very rapid convergence is used. In the full transonic regime the artificial compressibility method is employed to exclude downstream influences in the supersonic regions. The two approaches can be combined in a unified package and appropriate switches introduced to select the relevant method in any flow regime.  相似文献

An improved formulation of the inverse integral equation method proposed in Reference 1 is presented which allows, in particular, a well-posed problem to be ensured. The corresponding computation code is tested in an exhaustive manner for axial and radial compressor and turbine cascades. The agreement between the velocity field obtained with the inverse method and that resulting from a direct calculation is examined for subsonic, transonic and supersonic flows. Accuracy and reliability of the solution to the boundary condition problem are excellent for the subsonic and transonic flows. However, for the supersonic flow, the application of the method seems to be limited by the use of elementary solutions of the Laplace operator.  相似文献

The transonic flow equation [1] for plane unsteady irrotational idealgas flows is extended to the case of subsonic, transonic or supersonic flows in a region with an almost constant value of the velocity using orthogonal flow coordinates (family of equipotential lines and streamlines). A solution for the nonlinear far field of steady transonic flow past an airfoil has been obtained for the transonic equation [2]. In this paper it is obtained for a generalized transonic equation and its asymptotic expansion is given. In using difference methods of calculating the flow past an airfoil in the transonic regime a knowledge of the nonlinear field makes it possible to reduce the dimensions of the calculation region (near field) as compared with the region determined by the far field of the linear theory.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 87–91, January–February, 1986.  相似文献

In the present work, we propose a reformulation of the fluxes and interpolation calculations in the PISO method, a well‐known pressure‐correction solver. This new reformulation introduces the AUSM+ ? up flux definition as a replacement for the standard Rhie and Chow method of obtaining fluxes and central interpolation of pressure at the control volume faces. This algorithm tries to compatibilize the good efficiency of a pressure based method for low Mach number applications with the advantages of AUSM+ ? up at high Mach number flows. The algorithm is carefully validated using exact solutions. Results for subsonic, transonic and supersonic axisymmetric flows in a nozzle are presented and compared with exact analytical solutions. Further, we also present and discuss subsonic, transonic and supersonic results for the well known bump test‐case. The code is also benchmarked against a very tough test‐case for the supersonic and hypersonic flow over a cylinder. Copyright © 2011 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.  相似文献

We establish the existence and stability of multidimensional steady transonic flows with transonic shocks through an infinite nozzle of arbitrary cross-sections, including a slowly varying de Laval nozzle. The transonic flow is governed by the inviscid potential flow equation with supersonic upstream flow at the entrance, uniform subsonic downstream flow at the exit at infinity, and the slip boundary condition on the nozzle boundary. Our results indicate that, if the supersonic upstream flow at the entrance is sufficiently close to a uniform flow, there exists a solution that consists of a C 1,α subsonic flow in the unbounded downstream region, converging to a uniform velocity state at infinity, and a C 1,α multidimensional transonic shock separating the subsonic flow from the supersonic upstream flow; the uniform velocity state at the exit at infinity in the downstream direction is uniquely determined by the supersonic upstream flow; and the shock is orthogonal to the nozzle boundary at every point of their intersection. In order to construct such a transonic flow, we reformulate the multidimensional transonic nozzle problem into a free boundary problem for the subsonic phase, in which the equation is elliptic and the free boundary is a transonic shock. The free boundary conditions are determined by the Rankine–Hugoniot conditions along the shock. We further develop a nonlinear iteration approach and employ its advantages to deal with such a free boundary problem in the unbounded domain. We also prove that the transonic flow with a transonic shock is unique and stable with respect to the nozzle boundary and the smooth supersonic upstream flow at the entrance.  相似文献

A new numerical method named as basic function method is proposed. It can directly discretize differential operators on unstructured grids. By expanding the basic function to approach the exact function, the central and upwind schemes of derivative are constructed. By using the second-order polynomial as a basic function and applying the flux splitting method and the combination of central and upwind schemes to suppress non-physical fluctuation near shock waves, a second-order basic function scheme of polynomial type is proposed to solve inviscid compressible flows numerically. Numerical results of typical examples for two-dimensional inviscid compressible transonic and supersonic steady flows indicate that the new scheme has high accuracy and high resolution for shock waves. Combined with the adaptive remeshing technique, satisfactory results can be obtained.  相似文献

We prove that for the two-dimensional steady complete compressible Euler system, with given uniform upcoming supersonic flows, the following three fundamental flow patterns (special solutions) in gas dynamics involving transonic shocks are all unique in the class of piecewise C 1 smooth functions, under appropriate conditions on the downstream subsonic flows: (i) the normal transonic shocks in a straight duct with finite or infinite length, after fixing a point the shock-front passing through; (ii) the oblique transonic shocks attached to an infinite wedge; (iii) a flat Mach configuration containing one supersonic shock, two transonic shocks, and a contact discontinuity, after fixing a point where the four discontinuities intersect. These special solutions are constructed traditionally under the assumption that they are piecewise constant, and they have played important roles in the studies of mathematical gas dynamics. Our results show that the assumption of a piecewise constant can be replaced by some weaker assumptions on the downstream subsonic flows, which are sufficient to uniquely determine these special solutions. Mathematically, these are uniqueness results on solutions of free boundary problems of a quasi-linear system of elliptic-hyperbolic composite-mixed type in bounded or unbounded planar domains, without any assumptions on smallness. The proof relies on an elliptic system of pressure p and the tangent of the flow angle w = v/u obtained by decomposition of the Euler system in Lagrangian coordinates, and a newly developed method for the L estimate that is independent of the free boundaries, by combining the maximum principles of elliptic equations, and careful analysis of the shock polar applied on the (maybe curved) shock-fronts.  相似文献

A method is described for the calculation of plane and axisymmetric flows of gas mixtures with vibrational energy relaxation in the subsonic, transonic, and supersonic regions of the nozzle. The method is based on numerical solution of the inverse problem of nozzle theory. Results are given for the flow of a C02-N2-H2O-He mixture with vibrational relaxation and compared with the results of one-dimensional calculations. It is found that vibrational-energy relaxation has a significant effect on the gasdynamic parameters of flow in nozzles with large, relative expansion and therefore in choosing a nozzle shape, especially in the supersonic region, it is necessary to calculate the nonequilibrium flow. It is shown that the geometry of the transonic and supersonic regions of the nozzle has a considerable effect on the distribution of the inverse population of the level and the amplification factor.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 125–131, September–October, 1977.  相似文献

A class of differentially invariant solutions of a problem with the pressure independent of the radial coordinate is considered for a submodel of steady axisymmetric flows of a polytropic gas. The overdetermined system turns out to be compatible and is integrated. All solutions defining transonic and supersonic flows with a limiting surface are found. These solutions are compared with invariant solutions obtained previously.  相似文献

Similarity solutions of the viscous transonic equation describing source and source vortex flows have been found. These solutions contain shock-like transitions from the supersonic to the subsonic branch of the corresponding inviscid solutions, while the singularity near the sonic point of the inviscid solutions is shifted to a smaller radius. It is shown that this similarity solution is identical to the transonic viscous compressible source and sink flow solutions of Wu (1955) and Sakurai (1958).  相似文献

In this paper we derive the equations of the second and third approximations for the stream function of two-dimensional and axisymmetric potential transonic flow of an inviscid gas and find their particular solutions corresponding to certain transonic flows.A similar study concerning the second approximation of subsonic and supersonic flow was made by Van Dyke [1] and Hayes [2]. The second approximation for the velocity potential of transonic flow has been examined in detail by Hayes [3]. Euvrard [4, 5] has investigated the asymptotic behavior of transonic flow far from a body, while Fal'kovich, Chernov, and Gorskii [6] have studied the flow in a nozzle throat. The transonic asymptotic analysis for the stream function is presented in this paper.  相似文献

The paper presents exact particular solutions of the equations of transonic gas flows, analogous to the solutions derived in [1–3] for the case of short waves. These solutions are used to construct the flow around a body in a supersonic stream with an attached shock.  相似文献

A parallel implementation of the pressure‐based implicit splitting of operators (PISO) method is described and applied to both compressible and incompressible flows. The treatment of variables at the interfaces between adjacent blocks is highlighted, and, for compressible flow, a straightforward method for the implicit handling of density is described. Steady state and oscillatory flow through a sudden expansion are considered at low speeds for both two‐ and three‐dimensional geometries. Extension of the incompressible method to compressible flow is assessed for subsonic, transonic and supersonic flow through a two‐dimensional bump. Although good accuracy is achieved in these high‐speed flows, including the automatic capturing of shock waves, the method is deemed unsuitable for simulating steady state high‐speed flows on fine grids due to the requirement of very small time steps. The effect of transonic flow nonuniformity on the profiling of optimal plug nozzles is studied in the inviscid gas approximation. Sonic and supersonic regions providing maximum thrust for given nozzle dimensions and a given outer pressure are designed for given subsonic contours and calculated nonuniform transonic flows. As in the case of uniform flow on a cylindrical sonic surface, the initial regions of the designed contours satisfy the condition that in these regions the flow Mach number is unity or near-unity. In all the examples calculated, the optimal plug nozzles produce a greater thrust than the optimal axisymmetric and annular nozzles with a near-axial flow for the same lengths and the same gas flow rates through the nozzle. It is established that contouring without regard for transonic flow nonuniformity can result in considerable thrust losses. However, these losses are due only to a decrease in the flow rate, while the specific thrust may even increase slightly.  相似文献

Slender axisymmetric cavities in a subsonic flow of compressible fluid were investigated in [1–4]. In [5] a finite-difference method was used to calculate the drag coefficient of a circular cone, near which the shape of the cavity was determined for subsonic, transonic, and supersonic water flows; however, in the supersonic case the entire shape of the cavity was not determined. Here, on the basis of slender body theory an integrodifferential equation is obtained for the profile of the cavity in a supersonic flow. The dependence of the cavity elongation on the cavitation number and the Mach number is determined.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 1, pp. 179–181, January–February, 1989.  相似文献

A multigrid acceleration technique developed for solving the three-dimensional Navier–Stokes equations for subsonic/transonic flows has been extended to supersonic/hypersonic flows. An explicit multistage Runge–Kutta type of time-stepping scheme is used as the basic algorithm in conjunction with the multigrid scheme. Solutions have been obtained for a blunt conical frustum at Mach 6 to demonstrate the applicability of the multigrid scheme to high-speed flows. Computations have also been performed for a generic High-Speed Civil Transport configuration designed to cruise at Mach 3. These solutions demonstrate both the efficiency and accuracy of the present scheme for computing high-speed viscous flows over configurations of practical interest.  相似文献

A theoretical analysis of the wet-steam flow in the low pressure cylinder of a 500 MW steam turbine using a blade-to-blade time-marching computer program is described. The calculating method can compute most types of wet-steam flow found in LP turbines, including those involving both primary and secondary nucleations in transonic and supersonic blading with shock waves. In particular, condensing flows in highly staggered rotor tip sections can be computed without difficulty. Extensive results are presented showing the effect of departures from thermal equilibrium on the blade surface pressure and velocity distributions, the blade outlet relative flow angle, the mass flow coefficient and the thermodynamic loss coefficient. On the basis of the analysis, recommendations are made concerning the application of nonequilibrium wet-steam theory to steam turbine design.  相似文献

Many of the published theoretical studies of quasi-one-dimensional flows with combustion have been devoted to combustion in a nozzle, wake, or streamtube behind a normal shock wave [1–6].Recently, considerable interest has developed in the study of two-dimensional problems, specifically, the effective combustion of fuel in a supersonic air stream. In connection with experimental studies of the motion of bodies in combustible gas mixtures using ballistic facilities [7–9], the requirement has arisen for computer calculations of two-dimensional supersonic gas flow past bodies in the presence of combustion. In preceding studies [10–12] the present author has solved the steady-state problem under very simple assumptions concerning the structure of the combustion zone in a detonation wave.In the present paper we obtain a numerical solution of the problem of supersonic hydrogen-air flow past a sphere with account for the nonequilibrium nature of eight chemical reactions. The computations encompass only the subsonic and transonic flow regions. The author thanks G. G. Chernyi for valuable comments during discussion of the article.  相似文献
