In this paper, research on nonlinear dynamic behavior of a string-beam coupled system subjected to parametric and external excitations is presented. The governing equations of motion are obtained for the nonlinear transverse vibrations of the string-beam coupled system. The Galerkin's method is employed to simplify the governing equations to a set of ordinary differential equations with two degrees-of-freedom. The case of 1:2 internal resonance between the modes of the beam and string, principal parametric resonance for the beam, and primary resonance for the string is considered. The method of multiple scales is utilized to analyze the nonlinear responses of the string-beam coupled system. Based on the averaged equation obtained here, the techniques of phase portrait, waveform, and Poincare map are applied to analyze the periodic and chaotic motions. It is found from numerical simulations that there are obvious jumping phenomena in the resonant response–frequency curves. It is indicated from the phase portrait and Poincare map that period-4, period-2, and periodic solutions and chaotic motions occur in the transverse nonlinear vibrations of the string-beam coupled system under certain conditions. The nonlinear behavior of a string-beam coupled system subjected to parametric excitation is investigated in this paper. Using the method of multiple scales, a set of first order nonlinear differential equations are obtained. A numerical simulation is carried out to verify analytic predictions and to study the steady-state response, stable solutions and chaotic motions. The numerical results show that the system behavior includes multiple solutions, and jump phenomenon in the resonant frequency response curves. It is also shown that chaotic motions occur and the system parameters have different effects on the nonlinear response of the string-beam coupled system. Results are compared to previously published work.  相似文献

This paper analytically investigates the nonlinear responses of a cable-beam coupled system under the combined effects of internal and external resonance. The cable is considered a geometric nonlinearity, and the beam is considered as Euler–Bernoulli model, but it is coupled by fixing it at one end. The coupled nonlinear differential equations are formulated by using the Hamilton principle. The spatial problem is solved by using Galerkin’s method to simplify the governing equations to a set of ordinary differential equations. Applying the multiple time scales method to the ordinary differential equations, the first approximate solutions and solvability condition are derived. The effects of the cable sag to span ratio, mass ratio, and stiffness ratio on the nonlinear responses are investigated. The results show good agreement between the analytical and numerical solutions especially near the external resonance frequency.  相似文献

In this paper, a higher order model equation is presented for an axially accelerating beam. Based on a new kinematic frame of the beam and continuum mechanics theory, the coupled governing equations of nonlinear vibration for axially accelerating beam are obtained with the aid of the generalized Hamilton principle. The governing equations take into account the characteristic of the material, the shear strain, the rotation strain and the effect of longitudinally varying tension due to the axial acceleration. The equations are decoupled into a nonlinear partial-integro-differential equations when the transverse nonlinear vibration is small. For the principal parametric resonances, the steady-state frequency responses are obtained by the multiple scales method. The stable and unstable interval are analyzed for the trivial and nontrivial steady-state response. Effects of the system parameters on the amplitude have been investigated. The results show that the material parameter (i.e, in-plane Poisson ratio) has a significant effect on the amplitude and the nonlinear vibration behavior type. The amplitude decrease with the growth of the in-plane Poisson ratio. The total potential energy has play a very important role in determining the amplitude of frequency response according to model analysis. Lastly, comparisons among the analytical solutions and numerical solutions are made and good agreements for the amplitude are found.  相似文献

The nonlinear response of a two-degree-of-freedom nonlinear oscillating system to parametric excitation is examined for the case of 1∶2 internal resonance and, principal parametric resonance with respect to the lower mode. The method of multiple scales is used to derive four first-order autonomous ordinary differential equations for the modulation of the amplitudes and phases. The steadystate solutions of the modulated equations and their stability are investigated. The trivial solutions lose their stability through pitchfork bifurcation giving rise to coupled mode solutions. The Melnikov method is used to study the global bifurcation behavior, the critical parameter is determined at which the dynamical system possesses a Smale horseshoe type of chaos. The present study deals with the response of a two-degree-of-freedom (2DOF) system with quadratic coupling under parametric and harmonic excitations. The method of multiple scale perturbation technique is applied to solve the nonlinear differential equations and obtain approximate solutions up to and including the second order approximations. All resonance cases are extracted and investigated. Stability of the system is studied using frequency response equations and phase-plane method. Numerical solutions are carried out and the results are presented graphically and discussed. The effects of the different parameters on both response and stability of the system are investigated. The reported results are compared to the available published work.  相似文献

The subharmonic resonance and bifurcations of a clamped-clamped buckled beam under base harmonic excitations are investigated. The nonlinear partial integrodifferential equation of the motion of the buckled beam with both quadratic and cubic nonlinearities is given by using Hamilton's principle. A set of second-order nonlinear ordinary differential equations are obtained by spatial discretization with the Galerkin method. A high-dimensional model of the buckled beam is derived, concerning nonlinear coupling. The incremental harmonic balance (IHB) method is used to achieve the periodic solutions of the high-dimensional model of the buckled beam to observe the nonlinear frequency response curve and the nonlinear amplitude response curve, and the Floquet theory is used to analyze the stability of the periodic solutions. Attention is focused on the subharmonic resonance caused by the internal resonance as the excitation frequency near twice of the first natural frequency of the buckled beam with/without the antisymmetric modes being excited. Bifurcations including the saddle-node, Hopf, perioddoubling, and symmetry-breaking bifurcations are observed. Furthermore, quasi-periodic motion is observed by using the fourth-order Runge-Kutta method, which results from the Hopf bifurcation of the response of the buckled beam with the anti-symmetric modes being excited.  相似文献

This paper adds a negative velocity feedback to the dynamical system of twin-tail aircraft to suppress the vibration. The system is represented by two coupled second-order nonlinear differential equations having both quadratic and cubic nonlinearities. The system describes the vibration of an aircraft tail subjected to both multi-harmonic and multi-tuned excitations. The method of multiple time scale perturbation is adopted to solve the nonlinear differential equations and obtain approximate solutions up to the third order approximations. The stability of the proposed analytic solution near the simultaneous primary, combined and internal resonance is studied and its conditions are determined. The effect of different parameters on the steady state response of the vibrating system is studied and discussed by using frequency response equations. Some different resonance cases are investigated numerically  相似文献

Equilibria of axially moving beams are computationally investigated in the supercritical transport speed ranges. In the supercritical regime, the pattern of equilibria consists of the straight configuration and of non-trivial solutions that bifurcate with transport speed. The governing equations of coupled planar is reduced to a partial-differential equation and an integro-partial-differential equation of transverse vibration. The numerical schemes are respectively presented for the governing equations and the corresponding static equilibrium equation of coupled planar and the two governing equations of transverse motion for non-trivial equilibrium solutions via the finite difference method and differential quadrature method under the simple support boundary. A steel beam is treated as example to demonstrate the non-trivial equilibrium solutions of three nonlinear equations. Numerical results indicate that the three models predict qualitatively the same tendencies of the equilibrium with the changing parameters and the integro-partial-differential equation yields results quantitatively closer to those of the coupled equations.  相似文献

The fundamental and subharmonic resonances of a nonlinear cyclic assembly are examined using the asymptotic method of multiple-scales. The system consists of a number of identical cantilever beams coupled by means of weak linear stiffnesses. Assuming beam inextensionality, geometric nonlinearities arise due to longitudinal inertia and the nonlinear relation between beam curvature and transverse displacement. The governing nonlinear partial differential equations are discretized by a Galerkin procedure and the resulting set of coupled ordinary differential equations is solved using an asymptotic analysis. The unforced assembly is known to possess localized nonlinear normal modes, which give rise to a very complicated topological structure of fundamental and subharmonic response curves. In contrast to the linear system which exhibits as many forced resonances as its number of degrees of freedom, the nonlinear system is found to possess a number of additional resonance branches which have no counterparts in linear theory. Some of the additional resonances are spatially localized, corresponding to motions of only a small subset of periodic elements. The analytical results are verified by numerical Poincaré maps, and the forced localization features of the nonlinear assembly are demonstrated by considering its response to impulsive excitations.  相似文献

Numerical and analytical results are presented for fluid sloshing, of a two-layer inviscid, incompressible and immiscible fluid with thin layers and a rigid lid, coupled to a vessel which is free to undergo horizontal motion governed by a nonlinear spring. Exact analytical results are obtained for the linear problem, giving the natural frequencies and the resonance structure, particularly between the fluid and vessel. A numerical method for the linear and nonlinear equations is developed based on the high-resolution f-wave-propagation finite volume methods due to Bale et al. (2002) [SIAM Journal on Scientific Computing 24, 955–978], adapted to include the pressure gradient at the rigid-lid, and coupled to a Runge–Kutta solver for the vessel motion. The numerical simulations in the linear limit are compared with the exact analytical solutions. The coupled nonlinear numerical solutions with simulations near the internal 1:1 resonance are presented. Of particular interest is the partition of energy between the vessel and fluid motion.  相似文献

The sub- and super-critical dynamics of an axially moving beam subjected to a transverse harmonic excitation force is examined for the cases where the system is tuned to a three-to-one internal resonance as well as for the case where it is not. The governing equation of motion of this gyroscopic system is discretized by employing Galerkin’s technique which yields a set of coupled nonlinear differential equations. For the system in the sub-critical speed regime, the periodic solutions are studied using the pseudo-arclength continuation method, while the global dynamics is investigated numerically. In the latter case, bifurcation diagrams of Poincaré maps are obtained via direct time integration. Moreover, for a selected set of system parameters, the dynamics of the system is presented in the form of time histories, phase-plane portraits, and Poincaré maps. Finally, the effects of different system parameters on the amplitude-frequency responses as well as bifurcation diagrams are presented.  相似文献

Free vibration of a two degree of freedom weakly nonlinear oscillator is investigated. The type of nonlinearity considered is symmetric, it involves displacement as well as velocity terms and gives rise to self-excited oscillations in many engineering applications. After presenting the equations of motion in a general form, a perturbation methodology is applied for the case of 1:3 internal resonance. This yields a set of four slow-flow nonlinear equations, governing the amplitudes and phases of approximate motions of the system. It is then shown that these equations possess three distinct types of solutions, corresponding to trivial, single-mode and mixed-mode response of the system. The stability analysis of all these solutions is also performed. Next, numerical results are presented by applying this analysis to a specific practical example. Response diagrams are obtained for various combinations of the system parameters, in an effort to provide a complete picture of the dynamics and understand the transition from conditions of 1:3 internal resonance to non-resonant response. Emphasis is placed on identifying the effect of the linear damping, the frequency detuning and the stiffness nonlinearity parameters. Finally, the predictions of the approximate analysis are confirmed and extended further by direct integration of the averaged equations. This reveals the existence of other regular and irregular motions and illustrates the transition from phase-locked to drift response, which takes place through a Hopf bifurcation and a homoclinic explosion of the averaged equations.  相似文献

Global bifurcations and multi-pulse chaotic motions of flexible multi-beam structures derived from an L-shaped beam resting on a vibrating base are investigated considering one to two internal resonance and principal resonance. Base on the exact modal functions and the orthogonality conditions of global modes, the PDEs of the structure including both nonlinear coupling and nonlinear inertia are discretized into a set of coupled autoparametric ODEs by using Galerkin’s technique. The method of multiple scales is applied to yield a set of autonomous equations of the first order approximations to the response of the dynamical system. A generalized Melnikov method is used to study global dynamics for the “resonance case”. The present analysis indicates multi-pulse chaotic motions result from the existence of Šilnikov’s type of homoclinic orbits and the critical parameter surface under which the system may exhibit chaos in the sense of Smale horseshoes are obtained. The global results are finally interpreted in terms of the physical motion of such flexible multi-beam structure and the dynamical mechanism on chaotic pattern conversion between the localized mode and the coupled mode are revealed.  相似文献

In this study, the nonlinear vibrations of an axially moving beam are investigated by considering the coupling of the longitudinal and transversal motion. The Galerkin method is used to truncate the governing partial differential equations into a set of coupled nonlinear ordinary differential equations. By detuning the axially velocity, the exact parameters with which the system may turn to internal resonance are detected. The method of multiple scales is applied to the governing equations to study the nonlinear dynamics of the steady-state response caused by the internal–external resonance. The saturation and jump phenomena of such system have been reported by investigating the nonlinear amplitude–response curves with respect to external excitation, internal, and external detuning parameters. The longitudinal external excitation may trigger only longitudinal response when excitation amplitude is weak. However, beyond the critical excitation amplitude, the response energy will be transferred from the longitudinal motion to the transversal motion even the excitation is employed on the longitudinal direction. Such energy transfer due to saturation has the potential to be used in the vibration suppression.  相似文献

The nonlinear harmonic response of an autoparametric system comprised of a linear oscillator with a vertically attached flexural beam is investigated and the capability of the beam as a vibration absorber is assessed. A weak torsional spring is used for constraining the rotation of the beam giving rise to an almost non-flexural rotational mode with a low frequency. The system parameters are also tuned to enforce the zero-to-one-to-one internal resonance condition. The Lagrange’s formulation accompanied by the assumed-mode method is used to derive the discretized equations based on the order three nonlinear Euler–Bernoulli beam theory. An analytical solution is developed based on the method of multiple scales where the generalized coordinate corresponding to the non-flexural rotational mode is approximated by higher order perturbation expansion than the other coordinates, due to much larger contribution of the non-flexural rotation to the response. Comprehensive response and bifurcation analysis are performed using analytical and direct numerical solutions. The results are obtained for vertically-aligned and also initially inclined beams and various interesting behaviors are recognized for different non-dimensional system parameters. Different types of bifurcations such as the Pitch-fork, Hopf, Period-doubling and symmetry breaking bifurcations are observed in the solution of slow-flow equations and some of them are found to be beneficial for vibration absorption in a limited range of excitation amplitudes and frequencies.  相似文献

Nonlinear dynamics of an inclined beam subjected to a moving load   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
In this paper, the nonlinear dynamic response of an inclined pinned-pinned beam with a constant cross section, finite length subjected to a concentrated vertical force traveling with a constant velocity is investigated. The study is focused on the mode summation method and also on frequency analysis of the governing PDEs equations of motion. Furthermore, the steady-state response is studied by applying the multiple scales method. The nonlinear response of the beam is obtained by solving two coupled nonlinear PDEs governing equations of planar motion for both longitudinal and transverse oscillations of the beam. The dynamic magnification factor and normalized time histories of mid-pint of the beam are obtained for various load velocity ratios and the outcome results have been illustrated and compared to the results with those obtained from traditional linear solution. The appropriate parametric study considering the effects of the linear viscous damping, the velocity of the traveling load, beam inclination angle under zero or nonzero axial load are carried out to capture the influence of the effect of large deflections caused by stretching effects due to the beam’s immovable ends. It was seen that quadratic nonlinearity renders the softening effect on the dynamic response of the beam under the act of traveling load. Also in the case where the object leaves the inclined beam, its planar motion path is derived and the targeting accuracy is investigated and compared with those from the rigid solution assumption. Moreover, the stability analysis of steady-state response for the modes equations having quadratic nonlinearity was carried out and it was observed from the frequency response curves that for the considered parameters in the case of internal-external primary resonance, both saturation phenomenon and jump phenomenon can be predicted for the longitudinal excitation.  相似文献

Vibration of structures is often an undesirable phenomena and should be avoided or controlled. There are two techniques to control the vibration of a system, that is, active and passive control techniques. In this paper, a negative feedback velocity is applied to a dynamical system, which is represented by two coupled second order nonlinear differential equations having both quadratic and cubic nonlinearties. The system describes the vibration of an aircraft tail. The system is subjected to multi-external excitation forces. The method of multiple time scale perturbation is applied to solve the nonlinear differential equations and obtain approximate solutions up to third order of accuracy. The stability of the system is investigated applying frequency response equations. The effects of the different parameters are studied numerically. Various resonance cases are investigated. A comparison is made with the available published work. The English text was polished by Keren Wang.  相似文献
