A finite difference/boundary integral procedure to determine the acoustic reflected pressure from a fluid-loaded bi-laminated plate is described. The bi-laminate is composed of a piezoelectric layer and an elastic layer in contact with the fluid, and is held by an acoustically hard baffle. In the numerical model, the fluid pressure at fluid/solid interface is replaced by a continuum of point sources weighted by the normal acceleration of the elastic plate, and the governing equation system is solved in the solid domain. With the normal acceleration found, the reflected pressure in the fluid is determined by an integral expression involving the Green's function. It is demonstrated that an appropriate applied voltage potential across the piezoelectric layer has the effect of cancelling either the reflected or scattered pressure of the plate at any chosen field points in the fluid. The acoustic reflected pressure from a periodic elastic/piezoelectric laminated plate is studied for the purpose of acoustic reflection control. A finite difference/boundary integral procedure to determine the reflected pressure from the fluid-loaded plate is described. In the numerical model, a Green‘s function in the form of infinite sum is employed and a boundary integral is performed to replace the fluid pressure at fluid/solid interface by a continuum of point sources weighted by the normal acceleration of the elastic plate. The equation system is then solved only in the solid domain. It is demonstrated that an appropriate applied voltage potential across the piezoelectric layer has the effect of cancelling the fundamental propagating mode, and there is no reflection for frequencies up to the cut-off frequency of the next propagating mode if the fundamental mode has been eliminated.  相似文献

A finite difference/boundary integral procedure to determine the acoustic reflected pressure from a fluid-loaded bi-laminate plate is described. The bi-laminate is composed of a piezo-electric layer and an elastic layer in contact with the fluid. The plate is either of finite length and held at its two ends in an acoustically hard baffle or of infinite length with periodically etched electrodes. In the numerical model, the fluid pressure at fluid/solid interface is replaced by a continuum of point sources weighted by the normal acceleration of the elastic plate, and the governing equation system is solved in the solid domain. It is demonstrated that an appropriate applied voltage potential across the baffled piezoelectric layer has the effect of cancelling the reflected pressure at any chosen field points, and a piecewise constant voltage potential with properly chosen amplitude and phase in the periodic structure has the effect of cancelling the fundamental propagating mode of the reflected waves. A finite difference method is developed to study, on a two-dimensional model, the acoustic pressure radiated when a thin elastic plate, clamped at its boundaries, is excited by a turbulent boundary layer. Consider a homogeneous thin elastic plate clamped at its boundaries and extended to infinity by a plane, perfectly rigid, baffle. This plate closes a rectangular cavity. Both the cavity and the outside domain contain a perfect fluid. The fluid in the cavity is at rest. The fluid in the outside domain moves in the direction parallel to the system plate/baffle with a constant speed. A turbulent boundary layer develops at the interface baffle/plate. The wall pressure fluctuations in this boundary layer generates a vibration of the plate and an acoustic radiation in the two fluid domains. Modeling the wall pressure fluctuations spectrum in a turbulent boundary layer developed over a vibrating surface is a very complex and unresolved task. Ducan and Sirkis [1] proposed a model for the two-way interactions between a membrane and a turbulent flow of fluid. The excitation of the membrane is modeled by a potential flow randomly perturbed. This potential flow is modified by the displacement of the membrane. Howe [2] proposed a model for the turbulent wall pressure fluctuations power spectrum over an elastomeric material. The model presented in this article is based on a hypothesis of one-way interaction between the flow and the structure: the flow generates wall pressure fluctuations which are at the origin of the vibration of the plate, but the vibration of the plate does not modify the characteristics of the flow. A finite difference scheme that incorporates the vibration of the plate and the acoustic pressure inside the fluid cavity has been developed and coupled with a boundary element method that ensures the outside domain coupling. In this paper, we focus on the resolution of the coupled vibration/interior acoustic problem. We compare the results obtained with three numerical methods: (a) a finite difference representation for both the plate displacement and the acoustic pressure inside the cavity; (b) a coupled method involving a finite difference representation for the displacement of the plate and a boundary element method for the interior acoustic pressure; (c) a boundary element method for both the vibration of the plate and the interior acoustic pressure. A comparison of the numerical results obtained with two models of turbulent wall pressure fluctuations spectrums - the Corcos model [3] and the Chase model [4] - is proposed. A difference of 20 dB is found in the vibro-acoustic response of the structure. In [3], this difference is explained by calculating a wavenumber transfer function of the plate. In [6], coupled beam-cavity modes for similar geometry are calculated by the finite difference method. This revised version was published online in July 2006 with corrections to the Cover Date.  相似文献

Plate equations for a plate consisting of one elastic layer and one piezoelectric layer with an applied electric voltage have previously been derived by use of power series expansions of the field variables in the thickness coordinate. These plate equations are here evaluated by the consideration of a time harmonic 2D vibration problem with finite layers. The boundary conditions at the sides of the layers then have to be considered. Numerical comparisons of the displacement field are made with solutions from two other theories; a solution with equivalent boundary conditions for a thin piezoelectric layer applied on an elastic plate and an exact solution based on Fourier series expansions. The two approximate theories are shown to be equally good and they both yield accurate results for low frequencies and thin plates.  相似文献

An analytical solution for the cylindrical bending vibrations of linear piezoelectric laminated plates is obtained by extending the Stroh formalism to the generalized plane strain vibrations of piezoelectric materials. The laminated plate consists of homogeneous elastic or piezoelectric laminae of arbitrary thickness and width. Fourier basis functions for the mechanical displacements and electric potential that identically satisfy the equations of motion and the charge equation of electrostatics are used to solve boundary value problems via the superposition principle. The coefficients in the infinite series solution are determined from the boundary conditions at the edges and continuity conditions at the interfaces between laminae, which are satisfied in the sense of Fourier series. The formulation admits different boundary conditions at the edges of the laminated piezoelectric composite plate. Results for laminated elastic plates with either distributed or segmented piezoelectric actuators are presented for different sets of boundary conditions at the edges.  相似文献

The effects of a piezoelectric layer on the stability of viscoelastic plates subjected to the follower forces are evaluated. The differential equation of motion of the viscoelastic plate with the piezoelectric layer is formulated using the two-dimensional viscoelastic differential constitutive relation and the thin plate theory. The weak integral form of the differential equations and the force boundary conditions are obtained. Using the element-free Galerkin method, the governing equation of the viscoelastic rectangular plate with elastic dilatation and Kelvin–Voigt distortion is derived, subjected to the follower forces coupled with the piezoelectric effect. A generalized complex eigenvalue problem is solved, and the force excited by the piezoelectric layer due to external voltage is modeled as the follower tensile force; this force is used to improve the stability of the non-conservative viscoelastic plate. For the viscoelastic plate with various boundary conditions, the results for the instability type and the critical loads are presented to show the variations in these factors with respect to the location of the piezoelectric layers and the applied voltages. The stability of the viscoelastic plates can be effectively improved by the determination of the optimal location for the piezoelectric layers and the most favorable voltage assignment.  相似文献

Analytical solutions are derived for the cylindrical bending of multilayered, linear, and anisotropic magneto-electro-elastic plates under simple-supported edge conditions. We construct the general solution in terms of a simple formalism for any homogeneous layer, from which any physical quantities can be solved for the given boundary conditions. For multilayered plates, we derive the solution in terms of the propagator matrices. A special feature of cylindrical bending, which distinguishes itself from the three-dimensional plate problem, is that the associated eigenvalues for any homogeneous layer are independent of the sinusoidal mode, and thus need to be solved only once. Typical numerical examples are also presented for a piezomagnetic plate, a two-layered piezoelectric/piezomagnetic plate, and a four layered piezoelectric/piezomagnetic plate, with different span-to-thickness ratios. In particular, the piezoelectric and piezomagnetic fields show certain interesting features, which give guidance on the development of piezoelectric/piezomagnetic thin-plate theories. Furthermore, it is shown that the variations of the elastic, electric, and magnetic quantities with thickness depend strongly upon the material property and layering, which could be useful in the analysis and design of smart composite structures with sensors/actuators.  相似文献

This paper presents a theoretical method to investigate the multiple scattering of electro-elastic waves and the dynamic stress around a buried cavity in a functionally graded piezoelectric material layer bonded to a homogeneous piezoelectric material. The analytical solutions of wave fields are expressed by employing wave function expansion method, and the expanded mode coefficients are determined by satisfying the boundary conditions around the cavity. The image method is used to satisfy the mechanical and electrically short conditions at the free surface of the structure. According to the analytical expression of this problem, the numerical solutions of the dynamic stress concentration factor around the cavity are presented. The effects of the piezoelectric property, the position of the cavity in the layer, the incident wave number and the material properties on the dynamic stress around the cavity are analyzed. Analyses show that the piezoelectric property has great effect on the dynamic stress in the region of higher frequencies, and the effect increases with the decrease of the thickness of FGPM layer. If the material properties of the homogeneous piezoelectric material are greater than those at the surface of the structure, the dynamic stress resulting from the piezoelectric property is greater. The effect material properties at the two boundaries of FGPM layer on the distribution of dynamic stress around the cavity is also examined.  相似文献

The three-dimensional formulation of the problem on the natural vibrations and stability of an elastic plate which interacts with a quiescent or flowing fluid is represented and a finite element algorithm of its numerical implementation is proposed. The governing equations, which describe vortex-free ideal fluid dynamics in the case of small perturbations, are written in terms of the perturbation velocity potential and transformed using the Bubnov–Galerkin method. The plate strains are determined on the basis of the Timoshenko theory. The variational principle of virtual displacements which takes into account the work done by inertial forces and the hydrodynamic pressure is used for the mathematical formulation of the dynamic problem of elastic structure. The solution of the problem is reduced to calculations and an analysis of complex eigenvalues of a coupled system of two equations. The effect of the fluid layer height on the eigenfrequencies and the critical velocities of the loss of stability is estimated numerically. It is shown that there exist different types of instability determined by combinations of the kinematic boundary conditions prescribed at the plate edges.  相似文献

We study the hydrodynamic response of a thin layer of a viscous incompressible fluid squeezed between impermeable walls. We consider the distribution of pressure and force dynamic characteristics of the fluid layer in the case of forced flows along the gap between a vibration generator (which is a rigid plane) exhibiting harmonic vibrations and a stator (which is an elastic freely supported three-layer plate). The inertial forces of the viscous fluid motion and the stator elastic properties are taken into account. The amplitude and phase frequency characteristics of the elastic three-layer plate are found from the solution of the plane problem.  相似文献

Based on the shear spring model, the propagation of Love wave in two-layered piezoelectric/elastic composite plates under the influence of interfacial defect is investigated. The piezoelectric layer is electrically shorted at both top and bottom surfaces. The wave form solutions of the piezoelectric and elastic layers are obtained, and the dispersion equation is derived by subjecting the boundary conditions and the continuity conditions to the obtained wave form solutions. Numerical results are performed for PZT4/aluminum composite plate. The phase velocities and the mode shapes of mechanical displacement and electric potential are illustrated graphically. The results show that both the interfacial defect and the thickness ratio between the piezoelectric and elastic layers have significant effect on the propagation characteristics of Love wave. One important feature is observed that the interfacial defect always decreases the phase velocities.  相似文献

This paper deals with the derivation of a finite element model for the static analysis of functionally graded (FG) plates integrated with a layer of piezoelectric fiber reinforced composite (PFRC) material. The layer of PFRC material acts as the distributed actuator of the FG plates. The Young’s modulus of the FG plate is assumed to vary exponentially along the thickness of the plate while the Poisson’s ratio is assumed to be constant over the domain of the plate. The finite element model has been verified with the exact solutions for both thick and thin plates. Emphasis has been placed on investigating the effect of variation of piezoelectric fiber angle in the PFRC layer on its actuating capability of the FG plates. The finite element solutions also revealed that the activated PFRC layer is more effective in controlling the deformations of the FG plates when the layer is attached to the surface of the FG plate with minimum stiffness than when it is attached to the surface of the same with maximum stiffness.  相似文献

An attempt is made to study a steady two-dimensional flow of a viscous incompressible fluid incident at some angle onto a plate lubricated with a thin layer of a power-law fluid. Similar and nonsimilar solutions of the governing partial differential equations are obtained numerically by imposing the continuity of velocity and shear stress at the interface layer between the fluid and the lubricant. The Keller box method is applied to obtain the solutions. The limiting cases for full and no-slip conditions are compared.  相似文献

The possibility of plane wave propagation in a micropolar fluid of infinite extent has been explored. The reflection and transmission of longitudinal elastic wave at a plane interface between a homogeneous micropolar fluid half-space and a micropolar solid half-space has also been investigated. It is found that there can exist four plane waves propagating with distinct phase speeds in an infinite micropolar fluid. All the four waves are found to be dispersive and attenuated. The reflection and transmission coefficients are found to be the functions of the angle of incidence, the elastic properties of the half-spaces and the frequency of the incident wave. The expressions of energy ratios have also been obtained in explicit form. Frequency equation for the Stoneley wave at micropolar solid/fluid interface has also been derived in the form of sixth-order determinantal expression, which is found in full agreement with the corresponding result of inviscid liquid/elastic solid interface. Numerical computations have been performed for a specific model. The dispersion curves and attenuation of the existed waves in micropolar fluid have been computed and depicted graphically. The variations of various amplitudes and energy ratios are also shown against the angle of incidence. Results of some earlier workers have been deduced from the present formulation.  相似文献

Natural convection over a non-reflecting, non-absorbing, ideally transparent semi-infinite vertical flat plate due to absorption of incident radiation (solar radiation) is considered. The absorbed radiation acts as a distributed source which initiates buoyancy-driven flow and convection in the absorbing layer. The plate when heated by the absorbing fluid loses heat to the surroundings from its external side. Solution of the governing equations of the flow under these circumstances is non-similar because of both the heat source term in the energy equation and the temperature boundary condition at the plate. A local non-similar technique is used to obtain solutions for a wide range of the dimensionless distance along the plate and of the dimensionless loss coefficient to the surroundings. The results show that the temperature distribution has a maximum temperature in the depth of the fluid rather than on the plate. A new definition for a local heat transfer coefficient between the plate and the absorbing fluid is introduced which is based on the local maximum temperature rise in the fluid. A formula to calculate this heat transfer coefficient is given for the anticipated range of the loss coefficient.  相似文献
