The boundaries of regular reflection of detonation waves by a rigid wall are calculated. It is assumed that detonation is initiated at the point of reflection when a shock wave is incident on the wall at a finite angle in a gas fuel mixture, the detonation propagating instantaneously along the reflected front.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 2, pp. 178–180, March–April, 1983.  相似文献

A simple model is proposed to describe the main features of the complex phenomena that occur when a plane shock wave strikes a open-cell foam block. The complex two-phase interactions can be simplified using the experimental evidence that the foam face may be treated as a contact surface, that the length of the collapsed foam plug grows linearly in time, and that the gas pressure profile in the region between the head of the plug and the undisturbed material may be treated as being pseudo-stationary. These simplifications enable the prominent features of the compression process to be predicted for a variety of foam types. Analytical results for the reflected shock strength, foam front face velocity, transmitted wave velocity and strength, and maximum peak back wall pressures are presented.   相似文献

The head-on collision of a planar shock wave with a rigid porous material has been investigated experimentally in a 75 mm × 75 mm shock tube. The experimental study indicated that unlike the reflection from a flexible porous material (e.g., polyurethane foam) where the transmitted compression waves do not converge to a sharp shock wave, in the case of a rigid porous material (e.g., alumina) the transmitted compression waves do converge to a sharp shock wave, which decays as it propagates along the porous material. In addition to this major difference, many other differences were observed. They are outlined in the following sections.Based on these observations a suggestion modifying the phenomenology of the reflection/interaction process in the case a porous material with large permeability is proposed.  相似文献

An experimental study and a numerical simulation were conducted to investigate the mechanical and thermodynamic processes involved in the interaction between shock waves and low density foam. The experiment was done in a stainless shock tube (80 mm in inner diameter, 10 mm in wall thickness and 5 360 mm in length). The velocities of the incident and reflected compression waves in the foam were measured by using piezo-ceramic pressure sensors. The end-wall peak pressure behind the reflected wave in the foam was measured by using a crystal piezoelectric sensor. It is suggested that the high end-wall pressure may be caused by a rapid contact between the foam and the end-wall surface. Both open-cell and closed-cell foams with different length and density were tested. Through comparing the numerical and experimental end-wall pressure, the permeability coefficients α and β are quantitatively determined.  相似文献

The collision of two blast waves is analyzed for the case of variable parameters of the gas behind the wave front and wave reflection at a plane, a cylindrical, and a spherical obstacle. The reflection of a blast wave from a nonmoving obstacle is investigated in detail. The problem of the collision of two shock waves with constant parameters behind the front is solved both in the symmetrical case (reflection from a nonmoving wall) and in the case of waves of different amplitudes by a system of algebraic relations for the compression shocks. The reflection of a strong point-source spherical shock wave from a wall has been treated in [1, 2]. The present article examines the initial stage of wave collision for an arbitrary distribution of the parameters behind the front.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 5, pp. 41–48, September–October, 1971.The authors are grateful to V. P. Korobeinikov for a discussion of the results and to V. P. Kolgan for furnishing the numerical solutions.  相似文献

Numerous authors have carried out rather extensive studies in the last twenty to thirty years of the problem of the interaction of shock and blast waves with obstacles in their paths. Owing to the complexity of the problem, they assumed certain limiting cases for the shock wave interactions in which the parameters behind the shock wave were usually taken to be constants. The first wave diffraction studies involving variable parameters behind the front were presented in [1, 2], wherein a development of the theory of “short waves” (blast waves at a substantial distance from the center of an explosion) and their reflection from a planar surface was given. The theory of short waves assumes that the jump in pressure at the wave front and the region over which the parameters vary are small. The problem concerning reflection of a blast wave from a surface was also considered in [3, 4], wherein a solution in the region behind the reflected wave was obtained at initial times. The initial stage in the reflection of a blast wave from a planar, cylindrical, or spherical surface (the one-dimensional case) was studied in [5]. In this paper we investigate the interaction of a spherical blast wave, resulting from a point explosion, with a planar surface; we consider both regular and non-regular reflection stages. In solving this problem we use S. L. Godunov's finite-difference method. We obtain numerical solutions for various values of the shock strength at the instant of its encounter with the surface. We present the pressure fields in the flow regions, the pressure distribution over the surface at various instants of time, and the trajectories of the triple point. The parameter values at the front of the reflected wave are compared with results obtained from the theory of regular reflection of shock waves.  相似文献

The two-dimensional stationary problem of regular reflection of a shock wave from a plane solid wall in a fuel gas mixture is examined in the case when the mixture is ignited at the intersection of the incident wave with the wall and a flame front is formed behind the reflected shock wave. The shock waves and the flame front are considered plane surfaces of discontinuity. The fuel mixture and the reaction products are considered perfect, inviscid, and non-heat-conducting gases.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 4, pp. 161–163, July–August, 1978.  相似文献

A holographic interferometric study was made of the focusing of reflected shock waves from a circular reflector. A diaphragmless shock tube was used for incident shock Mach numbers ranging from 1.03 to 1.74. Hence, the process of reflected shock wave focusing was quantitatively observed. It is found that a converging shock wave along the curved wall undergoes an unsteady evolution of mach reflection and its focusing is, therefore, subject to the evolution of the process of shock wave reflections. The collision of triple points terminates the focusing process at the geometrical focus. In order to interprete quantitatively these interferograms, a numerical simulation using an Eulerian solver combined with adaptive unstructured grids was carried out. It is found numerically that the highest density appears immediately after the triple point collision. This implies that the final stage of focusing is mainly determined by the interaction between shock waves and vortices. The interaction of finite strength shock waves, hence, prevents a curved shock wave from creating the infinite increase of density or pressure at a focal point which is otherwise predicted by the linear acoustic theory.  相似文献

The process of reflection of shock waves (SW) from a solid wall in a two-component mixture of condensed materials is studied within the framework of mechanics of heterogeneous media. The velocity of a reflected SW and the values of the parameters behind its front are analytically determined as functions of the velocity of the incident wave and the initial parameters of the mixture. It is shown that the absolute value of the velocity of the reflected SW can be greater than the velocity of the incident SW in mixtures with a small content of the light component and at low velocities of the incident shock wave. The nonmonotonic character of the dependence of pressure in the final equilibrium state behind the incident SW on the initial volume concentration of particles is demonstrated. The velocity of the incident SW is estimated for the case where a similar effect is also observed behind a reflected SW. It is established that, for weak shock waves, the dependence of the amplification factor of the reflected SW on the initial volume concentration of the light component is nonmonotonic and has a local maximum. It is noted that, as the velocity of the incident SW increases, the effect of compacting of the mixture (increase in concentration of the heavy component) behind the reflected SW becomes much less pronounced than in a passing SW. We present the results of an experimental study of the reflection of a plane stationary shock wave with Mach number in the range 1.21–1.35 from a rigid cylindrical concave wall. The experiments were carried out in a shock tube. In experimental shock tube technology the reflection of a shock wave from a rigid wall is often used for obtaining high temperatures [1]. This circumstance is associated with the fact that the temperature behind the reflected wave is significantly higher than that behind the incident wave.Translated from Izvestiya Akademii Nauk SSSR, Mekhanika Zhidkosti i Gaza, No. 4, pp. 33–39, July–August, 1970.  相似文献

Observations are presented from calculations where a laminar spherical CH4/air flame was perturbed successively by incident and reflected shock waves reflected from a planar or concave wall. The two-dimensional axi-symmetric Navier–Stokes equations with detailed chemistry were used. The computational results were qualitatively validated with experiments which were performed in a standard shock tube arrangement. Under the influence of the incident shock wave, a Richtmyer–Meshkov instability is induced in the flame, and the distorted flame finally takes the form of two separated elliptical burning bubbles in the symmetric cross plane. Then, under subsequent interactions with the shock wave reflected from the planar or the concave wall, the flame takes a mushroom-like shape. Transverse waves produced by the shock reflection from the concave wall can compress the flame towards the axis, and the focusing shock generated on the concave wall will lead to a larger mushroom-like flame than that induced by the planar reflection.   相似文献

In view of the wide use of porous materials in technology there arises the need to investigate the dynamic processes taking place in them. The main difference between a porous substance and a solid condensed material is the fact that the condensed phase occupies only part of the volume of the porous medium, which leads to a lowered volumetric density and to a large degree of compressibility. There is particular interest in polymeric media with a small density on the order of 20 kg/m3, in which up to 98% of the volume is occupied by the gas phase. Such a density is achieved if the medium has a cellular structure of the foam, for example, in polyurethane foam plastics. At the present time, only the elastic properties of polyurethane foam plastics under the action of cyclic [1] and impact [2, 3] loads are known. Questions of the formation of pressure waves in such a medium, with the refraction in it of a shock wave from the gas, of the structure of the wave propagating over the foam plastic, as well as the special characteristics of its reflection from the interface, remain unclear. In the experiments described below, an investigation was made of pressure waves with intensities up to 20 bars in elastic polyurethane foams (PUF) with a porosity of 0.98 and the special characteristics of the reflection of such waves from a rigid wall were also determined.  相似文献

An experimental study shows that the Guderley reflection (GR) of shock waves can be produced in a standard shock tube. A new technique was utilised which comprises triple point of a developed weak Mach reflection undergoing a number of reflections off the ceiling and floor of the shock tube before arriving at the test section. Both simple perturbation sources and diverging ramps were used to generate a transverse wave in the tube which then becomes the weak reflected wave of the reflection pattern. Tests were conducted for three ramp angles (10°, 15°, and 20°) and two perturbation sources for a range of Mach numbers (1.10–1.40) and two shock tube expansion chamber lengths (2.0 and 4.0 m). It was found that the length of the Mach stem of the reflection pattern is the overall vertical distance traveled by the triple point. Images with equivalent Mach stem lengths in the order of 2.0 m were produced. All tests showed evidence of the fourth wave of the GR, namely the expansion wave behind the reflected shock wave. A shocklet terminating the expansion wave was also identified in a few cases mainly for incident wave Mach numbers of approximately 1.20.  相似文献

The structure of flow in the vicinity of a triple point in the problem of stationary irregular reflection of weak shock waves is numerically investigated within the framework of the Euler model, including the von Neumann paradox range. To improve the accuracy of the solution near singular points a new technology including a grid contracted toward the triple point and the discontinuity fitting is applied. It is shown that in the four-wave flow pattern the curvatures of the tangential discontinuity and the Mach front at the triple point are finite. The singularity is concentrated only in a sector between the reflected wave front and the expansion fan. When the three-wave flow pattern is realized, the curvatures of the tangential discontinuity and both wave fronts at the triple point are infinite. On the range of weak and moderate shock waves the logarithmic singularity in subsonic sectors near the triple point conserves up to transition to the regular reflection.  相似文献

Regular reflection (RR) and Mach reflection (MR) are theoretically both possible in the dual-solution domain of oblique shock reflection. The physical difference between the two types of reflection is the pressure behind the reflected shock wave: that of MR is lower than that of RR for strong shock reflection. The magnitude relation of these pressures is inverted for weak shock reflection. In the present paper, we performed two kinds of experiment, depending on whether the oblique shock reflection is weak or strong. For strong shock reflection, we decreased the pressure behind the reflected wave of RR using a convex double-wedge. For weak shock reflection, we increased this pressure using a concave double-wedge. Thus, we investigated the stability of RR against pressure disturbances. The results indicate that RR in a shock tube is stable, in the dual-solution domain, for both weak and strong incident shocks.  相似文献

Theoretical investigation of a liquid shock generating device with an elliptically shaped chamber is presented. A device of such kind has been previously fabricated and tested experimentally. Experimental observations confirmed the results of earlier theoretical analysis of the problem, showing that shock waves produced by an electric discharge at one of the foci of the elliptic chamber will converge at the second focus after the reflection off the cavity wall. In the present paper a previous two-dimensional model is extended to account for the height variation in the chamber. Expression for the pressure distribution behind the converging wave front is obtained and a relation between the shape of the upper bounding surface of the chamber and pressure distribution behind the converging wave front is investigated. It is shown that a desired pressure distribution may be obtained by an appropriate choice of the upper surface of the chamber. This article was processed using Springer-Verlag TEX Shock Waves macro package 1.0 and the AMS fonts, developed by the American Mathematical Society.  相似文献

The shock-wave structure in a porous elastoplastic material is studied. In a certain range of parameters, the existence of a four-wave structure of a compression shock wave is possible. Regimes in which a reflected shock wave does not appear at all have been found in the problem of shock-wave reflection from a rigid wall. In this case, the entire energy of the incident shock wave transforms to thermal energy due to dissipation induced by the viscous collapse of the pores. The interaction of rarefaction waves of different shapes with wet water foams is studied experimentally. It is found that the observed values of the pressure are greater, while the surface velocity is lower than the corresponding values predicted by the pseudogas model. The foam breakdown starts as the pressure decreases by 0.3 atm relative to the initial pressure. During downstream propagation of the rarefaction-wave leading edge the propagation velocity decreases.Using of water-based foams as effective screens for damping blast waves in different technological processes has caused considerable interest in studying wave propagation in such systems. The pressure wave dynamics in a foam have been investigated in much detail, both experimentally and theoretically [1–3]. However, the interaction of rarefaction waves with foam has practically never been studied, although it was mentioned in [4] that the unloading phase following the compression wave phase is one of the factors defining the damaging action of blast waves. Besides blast-wave damping, rarefaction wave propagation takes place if such waves are used to breakup foam in oil-producing wells [5].Below, the interaction of rarefaction waves of different shapes with wet water foams is studied. The vertical shock tube described in detail in [3] was used in these experiments.Brest. Experimental investigation on tunnel sonic boom   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1
Upon the entrance of a high-speed train into a relatively long train tunnel, compression waves are generated in front of the train. These compression waves subsequently coalesce into a weak shock wave so that a unpleasant sonic boom is emitted from the tunnel exit. In order to investigate the generation of the weak shock wave in train tunnels and the emission of the resulting sonic boom from the train tunnel exit and to search for methods for the reduction of these sonic booms, a 1300 scaled train tunnel simulator was constructed and simulation experiments were carried out using this facility. In the train tunnel simulator, an 18 mm dia. and 200 mm long plastic piston moves along a 40 mm dia. and 25 m long test section with speed ranging from 60 to 100 m/s. The tunnel simulator was tilted 8° to the floor so that the attenuation of the piston speed was not more than 10 % of its entrance speed. Pressure measurements along the tunnel simulator and holographic interferometric optical flow visualization of weak shock waves in the tunnel simulator clearly showed that compression waves, with propagation, coalesced into a weak shock wave. Although, for reduction of the sonic boom in prototype train tunnels, the installation of a hood at the entrance of the tunnels was known to be useful for their suppression, this effect was confirmed in the present experiment and found to be effective particularly for low piston speeds. The installation of a partially perforated wall at the exit of the tunnel simulator was found to smear pressure gradients at the shock. This effect is significant for higher piston speeds. Throughout the series of train tunnel simulator experiments, the combination of both the entrance hood and the perforated wall significantly reduces shock overpressures for piston speeds ofu p ranging from 60 to 100 m/s. These experimental findings were then applied to a real train tunnel and good agreement was obtained between the tunnel simulator result and the real tunnel measurements.  相似文献
