Based on the mass transfer theory, a new mass transfer model of ion-exchange process on zeolite under liquid film diffusion control is established, and the kinetic curves and the mass transfer coefficients of –K+ ion-exchange under different conditions were systemically determined using the shallow-bed experimental method. The results showed that the –K+ ion-exchange rates and transfer coefficients are directly proportional to solution flow rate and temperature, and inversely proportional to solution viscosity and the size of zeolite granules. It also showed that the transfer coefficient is not influenced by the ion concentrations. For a large ranges of operational conditions including temperatures (10 − 75°C), flow rates (0.031 m s−1 −0.26 m s−1), liquid viscosities (1.002 × 10−3 N s m−2 − 4.44 × 10−3 N s m−2), and zeolite granular sizes (0.2 − 1.45 mm), the average mass transfer coefficients calculated by the model agree with the experimental results very well.  相似文献

Let u(ε) be a rescaled 3-dimensional displacement field solution of the linear elastic model for a free prismatic rod Ωε having cross section with diameter of order ε, and let u (0) –Bernoulli–Navier displacement – and u (2) be the two first terms derived from the asymptotic method. We analyze the residue r(ε) = u(ε) − (u (0) + ε2 u (2)) and if the cross section is star-shaped, we prove such residue presents a Saint-Venant"s phenomenon near the ends of the rod. Bentonite clay is a vital ingredient of drilling mud. The time-dependent and high shear thinning yield stress behaviour of drilling mud is essential for maintaining wellbore stability and to remove cuttings, cool and clean the drill bit of debris. As-prepared 3, 5 and 7 wt.% bentonite clay slurries displayed time-dependent behaviour where the yield stress (measured after quick stirring) decreased with time of rest. An equilibrium value is reached after 24 h. Despite the low solids concentration, the yield stress is already relatively high and is displayed at all pH level. The yield stress is maximum at pH 2 and minimum at pH ∼ 7. This yield stress is due to the formation of gel structure by the swelling clay particles. However the addition of phosphate additives such as (PO3)19 − , (P3O10)5 −  and (P2O7)4 −  completely dispersed the clay slurries at pH above 6. At pH below 6, yield stress is still present but is 3-folds smaller than that of the pure bentonite slurry. With phosphate additives, the magnitude of the critical zeta potential at the complete dispersion pH is ca 48 mV. However for the pure bentonite, the slurry remained flocculated at zeta potential of >50 mV in magnitude. Interestingly, (P2O7)4 −  anions is more effective than the other two phosphate additives in reducing the yield stress at low pH, ∼ 2.0.  相似文献

Rheo-dielectric behavior was examined for 4−4n-octyl-cyanobiphenyl (8CB) having large dipoles parallel to its principal axis (in the direction of the C≡N bond). In the quiescent state at all temperatures (T) examined, orientational fluctuation of the 8CB molecules was observed as dielectric dispersions at characteristic frequencies ωc>106 s−1. In the isotropic state at high T, no detectable changes of the complex dielectric constant ɛ*(ω) were found under slow flow at shear rates ˙γ≫ωc. In the nematic state at intermediate T, the terminal relaxation intensity of ɛ*(ω) was decreased under such slow flow. In the smectic state at lower T, the flow effect became much less significant. These results were related to the flow-induced changes of the liquid crystalline textures in the nematic and smectic states, and the differences of the rheo-dielectric behavior in these states are discussed in relation to a difference of the symmetry of molecular arrangements in the nematic and smectic textures. The compressible Navier–Stokes–Poisson (NSP) system is considered in ${\mathbb {R}^3}The compressible Navier–Stokes–Poisson (NSP) system is considered in \mathbb R3{\mathbb {R}^3} in the present paper, and the influences of the electric field of the internal electrostatic potential force governed by the self-consistent Poisson equation on the qualitative behaviors of solutions is analyzed. It is observed that the rotating effect of electric field affects the dispersion of fluids and reduces the time decay rate of solutions. Indeed, we show that the density of the NSP system converges to its equilibrium state at the same L 2-rate (1+t)-\frac 34{(1+t)^{-\frac {3}{4}}} or L -rate (1 + t)−3/2 respectively as the compressible Navier–Stokes system, but the momentum of the NSP system decays at the L 2-rate (1+t)-\frac 14{(1+t)^{-\frac {1}{4}}} or L -rate (1 + t)−1 respectively, which is slower than the L 2-rate (1+t)-\frac 34{(1+t)^{-\frac {3}{4}}} or L -rate (1 + t)−3/2 for compressible Navier–Stokes system [Duan et al., in Math Models Methods Appl Sci 17:737–758, 2007; Liu and Wang, in Comm Math Phys 196:145–173, 1998; Matsumura and Nishida, in J Math Kyoto Univ 20:67–104, 1980] and the L -rate (1 + t)p with p ? (1, 3/2){p \in (1, 3/2)} for irrotational Euler–Poisson system [Guo, in Comm Math Phys 195:249–265, 1998]. These convergence rates are shown to be optimal for the compressible NSP system.  相似文献

A transient, one-dimensional model has been presented to formulate the substantial role of polymer gasification in the early stages of fire growth. The present model comprises the interaction between the oxygen diffusion and the released volatiles on the rate of polymer gasification, when the polymeric sample is subjected to an external radiative source. The model also includes different mechanisms affecting the degradation process such as in-depth thermal and oxidative decomposition, in-depth absorption of radiation and heat and mass transfer in the both gas and solid phases. The results for two different radiative heat sources (17 and 40 kW m−2) are reported and yielded realistic results, comparing to the published experimental data. It was found that an increase in the oxygen concentration will lead to a considerable decrease in the surface temperature as well as significant increase of gasification rate at 17 kW m−2; nevertheless this effect is less apparent at 40 kW m−2.  相似文献

Damped inertial water flow in a cylindrical vessel is investigated. A return effect or "recoil" as the shear strain rate falks to a value of the order of 10−3s−1 is observed. Over the range of low strain rates the water behaves like a medium with very low shear strength and a shear modulus of the order of 10−6 Pa. Ekaterinburg. Samples of commercial tomato paste, low fat mayonnaise and mustard about 6–8 mm thick were squeezed to 0.8 mm at various speeds between 5 mm min−1 and 25 mm min−1 between Teflon-coated parallel plates 127 mm in diameter using an Instron UTM Model 5542. All the log force vs log height relationships had a clearly identified linear region. This indicated that a dominant squeezing flow regime was achieved at about 3 mm height, and that the machine has the proper stiffness to perform the tests. The stress level at a pre-selected height in this region is a measure of consistency, sensitive enough to distinguish between products of different brands. The residual stress after relaxation for about 2 min was on order of 10–50% of the initial stress, an indication that all three foods have a considerable structural integrity. In all three products there was a considerable discrepancy between the observed rate effects and predictions based on a pseudoplastic (power law) model. It could be described by the empirical relation (Fv1 − FR)/(Fv2 − FR)=(V1/V2)m where Fv1 and Fv2 are the forces at the given displacement reached at speeds v1 and v2 respectively, FR is the residual force after relaxation (found to be practically rate independent), and m is a constant of the order of 0.15–0.33, independent of the compression velocities ratio but characteristic of the food and brand. The calculated elongational viscosity was not a unique function of biaxial strain rate. To a certain extent, this was probably due to imperfect lubrication. But it was also a manifestation of these products considerable structural integrity which cannot be accounted for by models developed for ideal liquids. Natural convection flow in a differentially heated square enclosure filled with porous matrix with a solid adiabatic thin fin attached at the hot left wall is studied numerically. The Brinkman–Forchheimer-extended Darcy model is used to solve the momentum equations, in the porous medium. The numerical investigation is done through streamlines, isotherms, and heat transfer rates. A parametric study is carried out using the following parameters: Darcy number (Da) from 10−4 to 10−2, dimensionless thin fin lengths (L p) 0.3, 0.5, and 0.7, dimensionless positions (S p) 0.25, 0.5, and 0.75 with Prandtl numbers (Pr) 0.7 and 100 for Ra = 106. For Da = 10−3 and Pr = 0.7, it is observed that there is a counter clock-wise secondary flow formation around the tip of the fin for S p = 0.5 for all lengths of L p. Moreover when Da = 10−2 the secondary circulation behavior has been observed for S p = 0.25 and 0.75 and there is another circulation between the top wall and the fin that is separated from the primary circulation. However, these secondary circulations features are not observed for Pr = 100. It is also found that the average Nusselt number decreases as the length of the fin increases for all locations. However, the rate of decrease of average Nusselt number becomes slower as the location of fin moves from the bottom wall to the top wall. The overall heat transfer rate can be controlled with a suitable selection of the fin location and length.  相似文献

This article studies on Cauchy’s function f (z) and its integral, (2πi)J[ f (z)] ≡■C f (t)dt/(t z) taken along a closed simple contour C, in regard to their comprehensive properties over the entire z = x + iy plane consisted of the simply connected open domain D + bounded by C and the open domain D outside C. (1) With f (z) assumed to be C n (n < ∞-times continuously differentiable) z ∈ D + and in a neighborhood of C, f (z) and its derivatives f (n) (z) are proved uniformly continuous in the closed domain D + = [D + + C]. (2) Cauchy’s integral formulas and their derivatives z ∈ D + (or z ∈ D ) are proved to converge uniformly in D + (or in D = [D +C]), respectively, thereby rendering the integral formulas valid over the entire z-plane. (3) The same claims (as for f (z) and J[ f (z)]) are shown extended to hold for the complement function F(z), defined to be C n z ∈ D and about C. (4) The uniform convergence theorems for f (z) and F(z) shown for arbitrary contour C are adapted to find special domains in the upper or lower half z-planes and those inside and outside the unit circle |z| = 1 such that the four general- ized Hilbert-type integral transforms are proved. (5) Further, the singularity distribution of f (z) in D is elucidated by considering the direct problem exemplified with several typ- ical singularities prescribed in D . (6) A comparative study is made between generalized integral formulas and Plemelj’s formulas on their differing basic properties. (7) Physical sig- nificances of these formulas are illustrated with applicationsto nonlinear airfoil theory. (8) Finally, an unsolved inverse problem to determine all the singularities of Cauchy function f (z) in domain D , based on the continuous numerical value of f (z) z ∈ D + = [D + + C], is presented for resolution as a conjecture.  相似文献

The mechanism of precursor ionization ahead of strong shock waves has been studied in a low density shock tube. The experimental results are illustrated with Arrhenius plots with kink points dividing them into two parts with apparent activation energy ratio 1:2, namely with the values 7.7 eV and 15.3 eV, and varying with first and third power of the density respectively. A model is proposed to interpret the facts where the process taking place in the precursor region, is a two step photo ionization accompanied with the drift flow effect of the gas relative to the shock wave or the ionization recombination effect according to whether the shock speed and initial density are low enough. This paper presents an experimental and theoretical investigation of drying of moist slab, cylinder and spherical products to study dimensionless moisture content distributions and their comparisons. Experimental study includes the measurement of the moisture content distributions of slab and cylindrical carrot, slab and cylindrical pumpkin and spherical blueberry during drying at various temperatures (e.g., 30, 40, 50 and 60°C) at specific constant velocity (U = 1 m/s) and the relative humidity φ = 30%. In theoretical analysis, two moisture transfer models are used to determine drying process parameters (e.g., drying coefficient and lag factor) and moisture transfer parameters (e.g., moisture diffusivity and moisture transfer coefficient), and to calculate the dimensionless moisture content distributions. The calculated results are then compared with the experimental moisture data. A considerably high agreement is obtained between the calculations and experimental measurements for the cases considered. The effective diffusivity values were evaluated between 0.741 × 10−5 and 5.981 × 10−5 m2/h for slab products, 0.818 × 10−5 and 6.287 × 10−5 m2/h for cylindrical products and 1.213 × 10−7 and 7.589 × 10−7 m2/h spherical products using the Model-I and 0.316 × 10−5–5.072 × 10−5 m2/h for slab products, 0.580 × 10−5–9.587 × 10−5 m2/h for cylindrical products and 1.408 × 10−7–13.913 × 10−7 m2/h spherical products using the Model-II.  相似文献

An Australian hard wheat flour–water dough has been characterised using parallel plate and capillary rheometers over an extensive range of apparent shear rates (10 − 3–103 s − 1) relevant to process conditions. Torsional measurements showed that the shear viscosity of the dough increased with strain to a maximum value and then decreased, suggesting a breakdown of the dough structure. Both torsional and capillary experiments revealed the shear-thinning behaviour of the dough. The wall slip phenomenon in capillary rheometry was investigated and found to be diameter dependent and occurred at a critical shear stress of approximately 5–10 kPa. A two-regime power law behaviour was observed, with the power law index approximately 0.3 in the low shear rate range increasing to 0.67 in the high shear rate range. Pressure fluctuation was observed in the capillary data and increased with shear rate, in particular, at shear rates approaching 104 s − 1. The results demonstrate that capillary rheometry is a viable means of rheologically testing dough at high shear rates provided pressure fluctuation is carefully monitored and capillary rheometry corrections, including wall slip, are accounted for.  相似文献

This paper concerns the regularity of a capillary graph (the meniscus profile of liquid in a cylindrical tube) over a corner domain of angle α. By giving an explicit construction of minimal surface solutions previously shown to exist (Indiana Univ. Math. J. 50 (2001), no. 1, 411–441) we clarify two outstanding questions. Solutions are constructed in the case α = π/2 for contact angle data (γ1, γ2) = (γ, π − γ) with 0 < γ < π. The solutions given with |γ − π/2| < π/4 are the first known solutions that are not C2 up to the corner. This shows that the best known regularity (C1, ∈) is the best possible in some cases. Specific dependence of the H?lder exponent on the contact angle for our examples is given. Solutions with γ = π/4 have continuous, but horizontal, normal vector at the corners in accordance with results of Tam (Pacific J. Math. 124 (1986), 469–482). It is shown that our examples are C0, β up to and including the corner for any β < 1. Solutions with |γ − π/2| > π/4 have a jump discontinuity at the corner. This kind of behavior was suggested by numerical work of Concus and Finn (Microgravity sci. technol. VII/2 (1994), 152–155) and Mittelmann and Zhu (Microgravity sci. technol. IX/1 (1996), 22–27). Our explicit construction, however, allows us to investigate the solutions quantitatively. For example, the trace of these solutions, excluding the jump discontinuity, is C2/3.  相似文献

 The problem of the self-similar boundary flow of a “Darcy-Boussinesq fluid” on a vertical plate with temperature distribution T w(x) = T +A·x λ and lateral mass flux v w(x) = a·x (λ−1)/2, embedded in a saturated porous medium is revisited. For the parameter values λ = 1,−1/3 and −1/2 exact analytic solutions are written down and the characteristics of the corresponding boundary layers are discussed as functions of the suction/ injection parameter in detail. In the present study, the heat flux received by a bubble pump, which was simulated to a vertical tube 1 m long and with a variable diameter, was optimized. A numerical study was carried out in order to solve balance equations concerning the water-ammonia mixture in the up flow. The two-fluid model was used to derive the equations. A numerical study was carried out on a heat flux between 1 and 70 kW m−2 and the liquid velocity was determined. The optimum flux was determined for a tube diameter equal to 4, 6, 8 and 10 mm and a mass flow rate ranging from 10 to 90 kg m−2 s−1. The optimum heat flux was correlated as a function of the tube diameter and mass flow rate, while the minimum heat flux required for pumping was correlated as a function of the tube diameter.  相似文献

The effects of shear, uniaxial extension and temperature on the flow-induced crystallization of two different types of high-density polyethylene (a metallocene and a ZN-HDPE) are examined using rheometry. Shear and uniaxial extension experiments were performed at temperatures below and well above the peak melting point of the polyethylenes in order to characterize their flow-induced crystallization behavior at rates relevant to processing (elongational rates up to 30 s − 1 and shear rates 1 to 1,000 s − 1 depending on the application). Generally, strain and strain rate found to enhance crystallization in both shear and elongation. In particular, extensional flow was found to be a much stronger stimulus for polymer crystallization compared to shear. At temperatures well above the melting peak point (up to 25°C), polymer crystallized under elongational flow, while there was no sign of crystallization under simple shear. A modified Kolmogorov crystallization model (Kolmogorov, Bull Akad Sci USSR, Class Sci, Math Nat 1:355–359, 1937) proposed by Tanner and Qi (Chem Eng Sci 64:4576–4579, 2009) was used to describe the crystallization kinetics under both shear and elongational flow at different temperatures.  相似文献
