The existence of monotone and non-monotone solutions of boundary value problem on the real line for Lienard equation is studied. Applying the theory of planar dynamical systems and the comparison method of vector fields defined by Lienard system and the system given by symmetric transformation or quasi-symmetric transformation, the invariant regions of the system are constructed. The existence of connecting orbits can be proved. A lot of sufficient conditions to guarantee the existence of solutions of the boundary value problem are obtained. Especially, when the source function is bi-stable, the existence of infinitely many monotone solusion is obtained.  相似文献

The existence conditions for surface and normal shear waves in finite and infinite periodically laminated structures with broken translational symmetry are studied theoretically and numerically. The problems posed are reduced to systems of linear algebraic equations. The existence condition for their nontrivial solutions yield dispersion relations. Conditions for the existence of surface and normal shear waves are established. Some results are plotted. This paper considers the issues related to uniqueness and existence of a finite deformation generated by prescribed right or left Cauchy-Green strain tensor field in the plane. First, the questions of uniqueness and existence to a pre-assigned right strain field C are discussed. It is shown that the existence condition, in the context of continuum mechanics, are naturally posed using the field corresponding to the square root of C instead of C, the latter a classical approach. Then, the corresponding questions for the left strain field are considered, which is more involved. The analysis of uniqueness gives rise to an appropriate classification of the deformation fields. The question of existence is discussed and a complete solution is presented. In both the right and left cases, we stress the techniques for obtaining the corresponding deformation fields.  相似文献

The self-similar singular solution of the fast diffusion equation with nonlinear gradient absorption terms are studied. By a self-similar transformation, the self-similar solutions satisfy a boundary value problem of nonlinear ordinary differential equation (ODE). Using the shooting arguments, the existence and uniqueness of the solution to the initial data problem of the nonlinear ODE are investigated, and the solutions are classified by the region of the initial data. The necessary and sufficient condition for the existence and uniqueness of self-similar very singular solutions is obtained by investigation of the classification of the solutions. A class of periodic initial value problems for two-dimensional Newton- Boussinesq equations are investigated in this paper. The Newton-Boussinesq equations are turned into the equivalent integral equations. With iteration methods, the local existence of the solutions is obtained. This paper is concerned with the traveling wave solutions of delayed reaction–diffusion systems. By using Schauder’s fixed point theorem, the existence of traveling wave solutions is reduced to the existence of generalized upper and lower solutions. Using the technique of contracting rectangles, the asymptotic behavior of traveling wave solutions for delayed diffusive systems is obtained. To illustrate our main results, the existence, nonexistence and asymptotic behavior of positive traveling wave solutions of diffusive Lotka–Volterra competition systems with distributed delays are established. The existence of nonmonotone traveling wave solutions of diffusive Lotka–Volterra competition systems is also discussed. In particular, it is proved that if there exists instantaneous self-limitation effect, then the large delays appearing in the intra-specific competitive terms may not affect the existence and asymptotic behavior of traveling wave solutions.  相似文献

The existence of periodic solutions of Liénard type equations is converted into the existence of special fixed point problems with auxiliary conditions. A general method for exact calculation of the limit cycles is given, and the corresponding numerical iterative procedure is carried out in significant cases, with comparison to standard Runge-Kutta numerical integration. On the basis of the general theory, criteria for the existence of limit cycles are given and tested in particular cases.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the irregular behavior of solutions for Fisher’s equation when initial data do not decay in a regular way at the spatial infinity. In the one-dimensional case, we show the existence of a solution whose profile and average speed are not convergent. In the higher-dimensional case, we show the existence of expanding fronts with arbitrarily prescribed profiles. We also show the existence of irregularly expanding fronts whose profile varies in time. Proofs are based on some estimate of the difference of two distinct solutions and a comparison technique. In this paper, the conditions of solution existence for stress rates under given strain rates are investigated. The focus of the solution existence investigation is on the non-associated flow rule and elastic stress–strain relationship. Granular materials characterized with strong non-associated plastic flows are used as a particular example for analysis. Various flow rules for granular materials are analyzed, including Rowe’s, Roscoe’s flow rules and their modified versions. In the elastic stress–strain relationships of materials, the effects of Poisson’s ratio on solution existence are investigated. Both isotropic and anisotropic elasticity are considered. Given a granular material and its states, it is found that there exists a critical Poisson’s ratio for a particular non-associated flow rule. When the Poisson’s ratio of a material is above this critical Poisson’s ratio, its constitutive model is susceptible to solution non-existence. It is suggested that special attentions should be paid to the selection of material Poisson’s ratio and non-associated flow rule to ensure the existence of elastoplastic solutions.  相似文献

The problem of minimizing a possibly non-convex and non-coercive functional is studied. Either necessary or sufficient conditions for the existence of solutions are given, involving a generalized recession functional, whose properties are discussed thoroughly.
