In this article, an analytical method is developed to obtain the response of magnetothermoelastic stress and perturbation of the magnetic field vector for a thick-walled spherical functionally graded materials (FGM) vessel. The vessel, which is placed in a uniform magnetic field, is subjected to an internal pressure and transient temperature gradient. Using the Hankel and Laplace transform techniques, the dynamic equation of magnetothermoelastic is solved and the radial and circumferential stresses as well as the perturbation of the magnetic field vector for a typical material are obtained. Moreover, the effect of magnetic field vector and material inhomogeneity on the stresses is investigated.  相似文献

In this article, a closed-form solution for one-dimensional magnetothermoelastic problem in a functionally graded material (FGM) hollow sphere placed in uniform magnetic and temperature fields subjected to an internal pressure is obtained using the infinitesimal theory of magnetothermoelasticity. Hyper-geometric functions are employed to solve the governing equation. The material properties through the graded direction are assumed to be nonlinear with an exponential distribution. The nonhomogeneity of the material in the radial direction is assumed to be exponential. The temperature, displacement and stress fields and the perturbation of magnetic field vector are determined and compared with those of the homogeneous case. Hence, the effect of inhomogeneity on the stresses and the perturbation of magnetic field vector distribution are demonstrated. The results of this study are applicable for designing optimum FGM hollow spheres.  相似文献

In this paper, an analytical solution is developed to determine deformations and stresses in circular disks made of functionally graded materials subjected to internal and/or external pressure. Taking mechanical properties of the materials of circular disks to be linear variations, the governing equation is derived from basic equations of axisymmetric, plane stress problems in elasticity. By transforming the governing equation into a hypergeometric equation, an accurate analytical solution of deformations and stresses in circular disks is obtained. The comparison with the numerical solution indicates that both approaches give very agreeable results, indicating correctness of the proposed analytical solution. The obtained analytical solution is employed to determine the radial displacement and stresses in circular disks subjected to external pressure, internal pressure, and internal and external pressure, respectively. How the radius ratio of circular disks affects deformations and stresses is also investigated.  相似文献

Analytical studies for magnetoelastic behavior of functionally graded material (FGM) cylindrical and spherical vessels placed in a uniform magnetic field, subjected to internal pressure are presented. Exact solutions for displacement, stress and perturbation of magnetic field vector in FGM cylindrical and spherical vessels are determined by using the infinitesimal theory of magnetoelasticity. The material stiffness and magnetic permeability obeying a simple power law are assumed to vary through the wall thickness and Poisson’s ratio is assumed constant. Stresses and perturbation of magnetic field vector distributions depending on an inhomogeneous constant are compared with those of the homogeneous case and presented in the form of graphs. The inhomogeneous constant, which includes continuously varying volume fraction of the constituents, is empirically determined. The values used in this study are arbitrary chosen to demonstrate the effect of inhomogeneity on stresses and perturbation of magnetic field vector distributions.

A thermoelastic problem of a circular annulus made of functionally graded materials with an arbitrary gradient is investigated. Different from previous works, our analysis neither requires a special form of the gradient of material properties nor demands partitioning the entire structure into a multilayered homogeneous structure. Instead, we propose a new method for solving the thermoelastic problem of a functionally graded circular annulus by transforming it to a Fredholm integral equation. The distribution of thermal stresses and radial displacement can be obtained by solving the resulting equation. Illustrative examples are given to show the effects of varying gradients on the thermal stresses and radial displacement for given temperature changes at the inner and outer surfaces. The results indicate that the thermal stresses can be relaxed for specified gradients, which is beneficial to design an inhomogeneous annulus to maintain structural integrity.  相似文献

Time-dependent creep stress redistribution analysis of rotating disk made of Al–SiC composite is investigated using Mendelson’s method of successive elastic solution. All mechanical and thermal properties except Poisson’s ratio are radial dependent based on volume fraction percent of SiC reinforcement. The material creep behavior is described by Sherby’s constitutive model using Pandey’s experimental results on Al–SiC composite. Loading is an inertia body force due to rotation and a distributed temperature field due to steady-state heat conduction from inner to outer surface of the disk. Using equations of equilibrium, stress strain, and strain displacement, a differential equation, containing creep strains, for displacement is obtained. History of stresses and deformations are calculated using method of successive elastic solution. It is concluded that the uniform distribution of SiC reinforcement does not considerably influence on stresses. However, the minimum and most uniform distribution of circumferential and effective thermoelastic stresses belongs to composite disk of aluminum with 0% SiC at inner surface and 40% SiC at outer surface. It has also been found that the stresses, displacement, and creep strains are changing with time at a decreasing rate so that after almost 50 years the solution approaches the steady-state condition.  相似文献

An analytic solution to the axisymmetric problem of a long, radially polarized, hollow cylinder composed of functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) rotating about its axis at a constant angular velocity is presented. For the case that electric, thermal and mechanical properties of the material obey different power laws in the thickness direction, distributions for radial displacement, stresses and electric potential in the FGPM hollow cylinder are determined by using the theory of electrothermoelasticity. Some useful discussions and numerical examples are presented to show the significant influence of material nonhomogeneity, and adopting suitable graded indexes and applying suitable geometric size and rotating velocity ω may optimize the rotating FGPM hollow cylindrical structures. This will be of particular importance in modern engineering application.  相似文献

The present work is devoted to study effects of the thermally induced vibration, magnetic field and viscoelasticity in an isotropic homogeneous unbounded body with a spherical cavity. The GN model of thermoelasticity without energy dissipation is applied. The closed form solutions for distributions of displacement, temperature and radial and hoop stresses are illustrated. The boundary conditions for the temperature and mechanical and Maxwell’s stresses are employed. The solutions valid in the case of small frequency are deduced and the results are compared with the corresponding results obtained in other generalized thermoelasticity theories. The results obtained are calculated for a copper material and presented graphically. It’s deduced that the magnetic field, viscosity and thermally induced vibration are very pronounced on displacement, temperature and stresses.  相似文献

This paper is to study the non-axisymmetric two-dimensional problem of thermal stresses in an infinite matrix with a functionally graded coated circular inclusion based on complex variable method. With using the method of piece-wise homogeneous layers, the general solution for the functionally graded coating having radial arbitrary elastic properties is derived when the matrix is subjected to uniform heat flux at infinity, and then numerical results are presented for several special examples. It is found that the existence of the functionally graded coating can change interfacial thermal stresses, and choosing proper change ways of the radial elastic properties in the coating can obviously reduce the thermal stresses.  相似文献

This paper is concerned with the theoretical treatment of the steady-state thermoelastic problem of a functionally graded cylindrical panel due to nonuniform heat supply in the circumferential direction. The thermal and thermoelastic constants of the cylindrical panel are expressed as power functions of the radial coordinate. We obtain the exact solution for the two-dimensional temperature change in a steady state, and thermal stresses of a simple supported cylindrical panel under the state of plane strain. Some numerical results are shown in figures and tables. Furthermore, the influence of the nonhomogeneity of the material, the radius ratio and the span angle upon the temperature change, displacements and stresses is investigated.  相似文献

The present paper presents the three-dimensional magneto-thermo-elastic analysis of the functionally graded cylindrical shell immersed in applied thermal and magnetic fields under non-uniform internal pressure. The inhomogeneity of the shell is assumed to vary along the radial direction according to a power law function, whereas Poisson's ratio is supposed to be constant through the thickness. The existing equations in terms of the displacement components, temperature, and magnetic parameters are derived, and then the effective differential quadrature method(DQM) is used to acquire the analytical solution. Based on the DQM, the governing heat differential equations and edge boundary conditions are transformed into algebraic equations, and discretized in the series form. The effects of the gradient index and rapid temperature on the displacement, stress components, temperature, and induced magnetic field are graphically illustrated. The fast convergence of the method is demonstrated and compared with the results obtained by the finite element method(FEM).  相似文献

An axisymmetric electroelastic problem of hollow radially polarized piezoceramic cylinders made of functionally graded (FG) materials is analyzed. For the material properties of power-law profile, a closed-form solution is derived. For a general gradient variation, an analytic approach is suggested, which reduces the problem to a Fredholm integral equation. Solving the resulting equation, the response of the electroelastic field can be determined. No severe limitation is required for varying material properties in this method. Numerical results of a cylindrical FG piezoelectric tube with PZT-5H as the inner surface ceramic are evaluated, and the distribution of the radial and circumferential stresses as well as the electric potential for piezoelectric sensors and actuators are presented graphically under electric and mechanical stimuli, respectively. Our results indicate that the electroelastic response in an FG piezoceramic tube with material properties decreasing when the radius increases becomes more obvious than that with material properties increasing. Moreover, the gradient index strongly affects the stress distribution and electric response. The obtained results are helpful for the design of annular cylindrical FG piezoelectric sensors/actuators.  相似文献

An elastodynamic solution for plane-strain response of functionally graded thick hollow cylinders subjected to uniformly-distributed dynamic pressures at boundary surfaces is presented. The material properties, except Poisson’s ratio, are assumed to vary through the thickness according to a power law function. To achieve an exact solution, the dynamic radial displacement is divided into two quasi-static and dynamic parts, and for each part, an analytical solution is derived. The quasi-static solution is obtained by means of Euler’s equation, and the dynamic solution is derived using the method of the separation of variables and the orthogonal expansion technique. The radial displacement and stress distributions are plotted for various functionally graded material (FGM) hollow cylinders under different dynamic loads, and the advantages of the presented method are discussed. The proposed analytical solution is suitable for analyzing various arrangements of hollow FGM cylinders with arbitrary thickness and arbitrary initial conditions, which are subjected to arbitrary forms of dynamic pressures distributed uniformly on their boundary surfaces.  相似文献

Analytical studies on electromagnetoelastic behaviors are presented for the functionally graded piezoelectric material (FGPM) solid cylinder and sphere placed in a uniform magnetic field and subjected to the external pressure and electric loading. When the mechanical, electric and magnetic properties of the material obey an identical power law in the radial direction, the exact displacements, stresses, electric potentials and perturbations of magnetic field vector in the FGPM solid cylinder and sphere are obtained by using the infinitesimal theory of electromagnetoelasticity. Numerical examples also show the significant influence of material inhomogeneity. It is interesting to note that selecting a specific value of inhomogeneity parameter can optimize the electromagnetoelastic responses, which will be of particular importance in modern engineering designs.  相似文献

The second-order statistics (i.e. mean and standard deviation) of the temperature and thermal stresses are evaluated in an axisymmetrically heated functionally graded annular disc of variable thickness with spatially random heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) on the major surfaces of the disc. This annular disc is assumed to have arbitrary variations in the HTCs and material composition along the radial direction only. The randomness in the HTCs is considered to be a random field. The stochastic temperature field is analysed by considering the annular disc to be a multilayered one with stepwise thickness variation, where each layer is assumed to have constant deterministic material properties and random HTCs. In order to evaluate the statistics, the Monte Carlo simulation method is applied to analytical solutions for the deterministic temperature and thermal stresses. The analytical solution for the thermal stresses is obtained through the use of a piecewise power function approximation for Young’s modulus. Numerical results demonstrate the effects of the magnitude of the HTC means, volume fraction distributions of the constitutive materials and thickness variation on the statistics of the temperature and thermal stresses.  相似文献

The article presents an analytical solution for magneto–thermo–electro–elastic problems of a piezoelectric hollow cylinder placed in an axial magnetic field subjected to arbitrary thermal shock, mechanical load and transient electric excitation. Using an interpolation method solves the Volterra integral equation of the second kind caused by interaction among magnetic, thermal, electric and mechanical fields, the electric displacement is determined. Thus, the exact expressions for the transient responses of displacement, stresses, electric displacement, electric potential and perturbation of the magnetic field vector in the piezoelectric hollow cylinder are obtained by means of Hankel transforms, Laplace transforms, and inverse Laplace transforms. From sample numerical calculations, it is seen that the present method is suitable for a piezoelectric hollow cylinder subjected to arbitrary thermal shock, mechanical load and transient electric excitation, and the result carried out may be used as a reference to solve other transient coupled problems of magneto–thermo–electro–elasticity.  相似文献

Elastic solutions for axisymmetric rotating disks made of functionally graded material with variable thickness are presented. The material properties and disk thickness profile are assumed to be represented by two power-law distributions. In the case of hollow disk, based on the form of the power-law distribution for the mechanical properties of the constituent components and the thickness profile function, both analytical and semi-analytical solutions are given under free–free and fixed-free boundary conditions. For the solid disk, only semi-analytical solution is presented. The effects of the material grading index and the geometry of the disk on the stresses and displacements are investigated. It is found that a functionally graded rotating disk with parabolic or hyperbolic convergent thickness profile has smaller stresses and displacements compared with that of uniform thickness. It is seen that the maximum radial stress for the solid functionally graded disk with parabolic thickness profile is not at the centre like uniform thickness disk. Results of this paper suggest that a rotating functionally graded disk with parabolic concave or hyperbolic convergent thickness profile can be more efficient than the one with uniform thickness.  相似文献

This article is concerned with the theoretical analysis of the functionally graded magneto-electro-thermoelastic strip due to unsteady and nonuniform surface heating in the width direction. We analyze the transient thermal stress problem for a functionally graded strip constructed of the anisotropic and linear magneto-electro-thermoelastic materials using a laminated composite mode as one of theoretical approximation. The transient two-dimensional temperature is analyzed by the methods of Laplace and finite sine transformations. We obtain the solution for the simply supported and functionally graded magneto-electro-thermoelastic strip under a plane strain state. As an illustration, we carried out numerical calculations for a functionally graded strip composed of piezoelectric BaTiO3 and magnetostrictive CoFe2O4, and examined the behaviors in the transient state for temperature change, stress, electric potential and magnetic potential distributions. Furthermore, the effects of the nonhomogeneity of material on the stresses, electric potential, and magnetic potential are investigated.  相似文献
