本文首次提出并讨论了锁模激光脉冲的时间相干长度问题。从时间复相干度定义出发,导出了具有线性啁啾的高斯型锁模脉冲的时间相干长度表达式,可以看出,时间相干长度随着脉冲啁啾的增大而减小;与这种脉冲的时间宽度比较可以得出结论,在没有啁啾时,脉冲的时间相干长度等于脉冲时间宽度的二倍。  相似文献

We investigate the speed of temporal dark soliton based on an optical coherent medium. It is demonstrated that the temporal dark soliton is described by a nonlinear Schrodinger equation whose coefficients are decided by the coherent medium. It is found that the speed of temporal dark soliton not only relies on the linear responses including GV parameter, group velocity dispersion parameter as well as the amplitude of dark soliton, but also relies on the nonlinear response like self-phase modulation parameter. Additionally, the dark soliton in anomalous-dispersion regime propagates slower than bright soliton, while in normal-dispersion regime it inversely propagates faster than bright soliton. The complicated property of the speed for dark soliton is quite different from the bright soliton whose speed is commonly only related to the group velocity parameter. We attribute this feature to the modulation instability of the nonlinear system.  相似文献

Using an ultrafast photonic first-order differentiator applied on a partially coherent field, the generation of two correlated temporal waveforms is reported and their correlation properties upon linear and nonlinear propagation along the two orthogonal polarization axes of a dispersive optical fiber are studied. Temporal correlations are maintained in linear propagation whereas Kerr nonlinearity generates anticorrelated temporal intensity patterns for both partially and uncorrelated fields. Experiments are in close agreement with the theoretical analysis.  相似文献

In this paper we use the Spatial Compound method to detect a long element with coherent reflectivity within a vast incoherent media. We consider the case in which the echographics temporal signals of the coherent element, and of the scatterers of the media in which it is hidden are of the same order of amplitude. We calculate analytically the spatial coherent function of the acoustic pressure signals considering space-temporal averages. We find experimentally that when there is a coherent long scatter this function is broader (in the spatial direction along the scatter) than when there is only incoherent media. By selecting short temporal windows of analysis we show the possibility of detecting the depth where the coherent element is located.  相似文献

We have observed the longitudinal pure spatial coherence of a light field in an interference experiment when the length of the temporal coherence is significantly smaller than the length of the longitudinal spatial coherence of the light field. We introduce into consideration new spatial and temporal scales of a light field: the length of the coherent (free) run and the coherent time (the time of life) of a wave train.  相似文献

We experimentally investigate the impact of spectral phase mismatch on the coherent beam combining of two femtosecond fiber chirped-pulse amplifiers. By measuring the differential spectral phase, both linear and nonlinear contributions are identified. An accumulated nonlinear phase as high as 6 rad has been measured, for which a combination efficiency of 91% can be obtained by symmetrizing the pump and injection powers. This also allows us to quantitatively separate the spatial and temporal contributions of the nonperfect combining efficiency.  相似文献

We study the nonlinear mean-field dynamics of molecule formation at coherent photo- and magneto-association of an atomic Bose-Einstein condensate for the case when the external field configuration is defined by the quasi-linear level crossing Demkov-Kunike model, characterized by a bell-shaped pulse and finite variation of the detuning. We present a general approach to construct an approximation describing the temporal dynamics of the molecule formation in the weak interaction regime and apply the developed method to the nonlinear Demkov-Kunike problem. The presented approximation, written as a scaled solution to the linear problem associated to the nonlinear one we treat, contains fitting parameters which are determined through a variational procedure. Assuming that the parameters involved in the solution of the linear problem are not modified, we suggest an analytical expression for the scaling parameter.  相似文献

We investigate the damped interaction between two Λ-type three-level atoms and a quantized single-mode cavity field, for which the Hamiltonian of the field is rewritten in Caldirola–Kanai form. We obtain the wave functions for the case where the two atoms are initially prepared in arbitrary pure states and the field is initially prepared in the coherent state. We investigate numerically the influence of the damping parameter on the temporal behavior of the Mandel Q-parameter, linear entropy, and normal squeezing. We find the damping parameter and initial atomic states to play central roles in the nonclassical features and the degree of entanglement.  相似文献

Based on an expansion of the Bethe-Salpeter equation in scattering orders a semi-analytic approach for simulation of coherent phenomena of multiple scattering in random media has been developed. We found that for scalar field the manifestation of these phenomena, observed as temporal field correlation function and coherent backscattering, are universal and well agreed with the results predicted by diffusion approximation. For the electromagnetic field the temporal correlation function and coherent backscattering are noticeably differ from those found for the scalar field, depending strongly on the scattering anisotropy. The obtained numerical results, for the first time to our knowledge, are compared directly with the known generalizations of the Milne solution.  相似文献

We construct nonlinear coherent states by the application of a deformed displacement operator acting upon the vacuum state and as approximate eigenstates of a deformed annihilation operator. These states are used to evaluate the temporal evolution of the average value of the momentum and the diplacement coordinate as well as their dispersions. We also construct even and odd combinations of these nonlinear coherent states and compute their second order correlation function in order to analyze their statistical behavior.  相似文献

Quantum computation circuits using coherent states as the logical qubits can be constructed from very simple linear networks, conditional measurements and coherent superposition resource states. We demonstrate a method for single-detector coherent sensing and automated coalignment of group delays in a coherently combined laser array, enabling robust coherent combining of broadband sources despite initial path mismatches exceeding the laser coherence length. The method is based on Fourier-domain filtering of the coherently combined laser beam to extract error signals, and it is equally applicable to controlling both spatial and temporal misalignments.  相似文献

We present a theory of temporal diffraction, temporal imaging of a bi-photon state, and temporal ghost imaging of a time object. By applying factional Fourier transform to the bi-photon wave packet propagating in space, we could obtain a theory that shows the physical origin of dispersion cancelation, temporal imaging, nonlocal effects of time lenses, and temporal ghost imaging. We introduce the temporal diffraction distance for bi-photon wave packet and show that the bi-photon wave packet behaves like a single wave packet whose temporal diffraction distance is determined by the coherent sum of the temporal diffraction distances for the signal and the idler beams. This property yields the well known dispersion cancelation, the recovery of original bi-photon wave packet in temporal imaging, and the nonlocal combination of two time lenses placed in different arms. We also propose a method for ghost imaging of an arbitrary time object.  相似文献

We report the production of stable, coherent, and same-phase states in arrays of fiber lasers. Provided that proper interactions between the lasers are present, arrays will spontaneously self-organize into stable coherent same-phase states. There is no need for active control. Power scaling, power spectra, spatial interference fringes, and temporal data all support this conclusion.  相似文献

The scattering of a partially coherent plane-wave pulse on a Gaussian-correlated, quasi-homogeneous random medium is investigated. The analytical expressions for the temporal coherence length and the pulse duration of the scattered field are derived. We demonstrate that the scattering-induced changes in the temporal coherence length and the pulse duration may be used to determine the correlation function of the scattering potential of the medium.  相似文献

Short-wavelength Free Electron Lasers (FELs), which have recently produced intense, hard X-rays are currently based on the concept of classical Self-Amplified Spontaneous Emission (SASE). In order to extend the production of intense, coherent radiation to sub-Å wavelengths then an alternative to the conventional SASE-FEL concept will be necessary, as conventional SASE-FELs require long wigglers (~ 100 m) and large accelerators (~ km) and produce radiation which has poor temporal coherence. Recently, we have introduced the concept of the Quantum Free Electron Laser (QFEL). The QFEL is characterised by quantised electron momentum recoil and the emission of monochromatic, coherent radiation from a compact apparatus. This makes it appealing for applications requiring a high degree of temporal coherence. We show that a SASE-QFEL may offer the possibility to produce intense, coherent γ-rays via harmonic generation. This has the potential to open up new applications e.g. coherent interactions involving nuclear transitions.  相似文献

We present a study of the temporal compression of nanosecond laser pulses resulting from the coherent control peculiarities of the propagation dynamics in a regime of electromagnetically induced transparency. We describe the general theoretical framework and discuss the crucial conditions required in order to experimentally realize such a temporal compression scheme. A proof-of-concept experimental realization of a scheme of this type in a sample of hot sodium vapors is currently being implemented: we describe in detail the experimental setup designed for this purpose.  相似文献
