The electron yield per ion charge-state γ/q was measured for emission of electrons from clean polycrystalline gold induced due to impact of Ta q+ (11≤q≤41) ions with kinetic energy per chargeE i/q from 15 keV/q to 150 keV/q. The dependence of γ on angle of incidence was analyzed with use of relation γ(ϑ)=γ0 cosf ϑ. The fitting of experimental data gives a range of γ0/q from 1 to 1.75 for Ta13+ and from 1.5 to 1.73 for Ta39+. The dependence of γ0/q onq andE i is discussed with respect to measurement of ion currents emitted from laser-produced plasmas with an ion collector with unsuppressed secondary electron emission. Using a high resolution ( meV) laser photoelectron attachment method, we have studied the formation of (CO 2) q ions (q = 4−22) in collisions of low energy electrons (1−180 meV) with (CO2) N () clusters. The previously reported “zero energy resonance”, observed at much larger electron bandwidths, actually consists of several narrow vibrational Feshbach resonances of the type [(CO 2) N −1CO which involve a vibrationally-excited molecular constituent ( denotes vibrational mode) and a diffuse electron weakly bound to the cluster by long range forces. The resonances occur at energies below those of the vibrational excitation energies of the neutral clusters [(CO 2) N −1CO ]; the redshift rises with increasing cluster ion size q by about 12 meV per unit; these findings are recovered by a simple model calculation for the size dependent binding energies. The size distribution in the cluster anion mass spectrum, resulting from attachment of very slow electrons, mainly reflects the amount of overlap of solvation-shifted vibrational resonances with zero energy; the cluster anion size q is identical with or close to that of the attaching neutral cluster. We analyse the exclusive channel pˉ↦γπ0, assuming handbag dominance. The soft parts are parametrized in terms of CGLN amplitudes for the qˉ↦γπ0 transition and form factors for the pˉ↦qˉ ones; the latter represent moments of Generalized Distribution Amplitudes. We present a combined fit to Fermilab data from E760 taking simultaneously into account information from other exclusive reactions, especially from pˉ↦γγ data. Overall a nicely consistent picture emerges, such that one can hope, that our theoretical analysis will be reliable also for the kinematics of GSI/FAIR, which, hopefully, will provide much more precise and complete data. Consequently, data from this facility should improve our knowledge both on the proton-antiproton distribution amplitudes and the pion production mechanism.  相似文献

The nucleon electromagnetic form factorsG E P (q2),G M P (q2) and the axial-vector form factor GA(q2) are studied in a relativistic model of independent quarks confined by an equally mixed scalar-vector square root potentialV q(r)=1/2(1+γ 0)(ar 1/2+ν 0) taking into account the appropriate centre-of-mass corrections. The respective root-mean-square radii associated withG E P (q2) and G A (q2) come out as [〈r 2E P ]1/2=0.86 fm and 〈r A 21/2=0.88 fm. Restoration of chiral symmetry in this model is discussed to derive the pion-nucleon form factorG πNN(q2) and consequently the pion-nucleon coupling constant is obtained asg πNN(q2)=12.81 as compared tog πNN(q2)exp⋍13.  相似文献

We study a strictly scale-invariant probabilistic N-body model with symmetric, uniform, identically distributed random variables. Correlations are induced through a transformation of a multivariate Gaussian distribution with covariance matrix decaying out from the unit diagonal, as ρ/r α for r =1, 2, ..., N-1, where r indicates displacement from the diagonal and where 0 ⩽ ρ ⩽ 1 and α ⩾ 0. We show numerically that the sum of the N dependent random variables is well modeled by a compact support q-Gaussian distribution. In the particular case of α = 0 we obtain q = (1-5/3 ρ) / (1- ρ), a result validated analytically in a recent paper by Hilhorst and Schehr. Our present results with these q-Gaussian approximants precisely mimic the behavior expected in the frame of non-extensive statistical mechanics. The fact that the N → ∞ limiting distributions are not exactly, but only approximately, q-Gaussians suggests that the present system is not exactly, but only approximately, q-independent in the sense of the q-generalized central limit theorem of Umarov, Steinberg and Tsallis. Short range interaction (α > 1) and long range interactions (α < 1) are discussed. Fitted parameters are obtained via a Method of Moments approach. Simple mechanisms which lead to the production of q-Gaussians, such as mixing, are discussed.   相似文献

Summary We have analysed the formation of envelope soliton near critical density in a plasma consisting of two-temperature electrons and cold ions. The non-linear Schr?dinger-like equation obtained is t + xx +q|φ|4φ=0 which we call the modified non-linear Schr?dinger equation. It is also observed that this approach leads to a physical situation where a linear combination of both the modified and usual NLS equations holds, in the form t + xx +q 1|φ|2φ +q 2|φ|4φ=0. It is demonstrated through graphical analysis thatq 1,q 2, thought of as a function of β(=T el/T eh), behave in opposite way. That is, whenq 1 grows,q 2 decays, or vice versa. Lastly we demonstrate that this equation can sustain a type of solution other than the usual solitary profile. The form of such a wave is also depicted graphically.  相似文献

Electric field gradient inhcp transition metal scandium has been calculated as the sum of contributions from lattice ions and conduction electrons. For the lattice contributionq latt, a point-charge model has been assumed. The contribution from conduction electronsq el, on the other hand, has been evaluated by carrying out an energy-band calculation using non-local transition-metal model potential. The results obtained are:q el=−106.11×1013 esu/cm3 andq latt=122.17×1013 esu/cm3. The net field gradient (q el+q latt) of 16.06×1013 esu/cm3 agrees quite well with the experimental result, |q expt|=13×1013 esu/cm3. Directions of further improvement in the theory are discussed.  相似文献

We point out that the equivalent-photon approximation (EPA) for processes with massive spin-1 particles in the final state would have validity in a more restricted kinematic domain than for processes where it is commonly applied, viz., those with spin-1/2 or spin-0 particles in the final state. We obtain the criterion for the validity ofEPA for the two-photon production of a pair of charged, massive, point-like spin-1 particlesV ±, each of massM and with a standard magnetic moment (κ=1). In a process in which one of the photons is real and the other virtual with four-momentumq, the condition for the validity ofEPA is |q 2|≪M 2, in addition to the usual condition |q 2|≪W 2,W being theV + V invariant mass. In a process in which both photons are virtual (with four-momentaq andq′), our condition is |q 2||q2|W 4 ≪ 16M 8, in addition to |q 2| ≪M 2, |q2| ≪M 2 and |q 2| ≪W 2, |q2| ≪W 2. Even when these extra conditions permitting the use ofEPA are not fulfilled, convenient approximate expressions may still be obtained assuming merely |q 2| ≪W 2 and |q2| ≪W 2. We also discuss how the extra conditions are altered when the vector bosons are incorporated in a spontaneously broken gauge theory. Examples ofW boson production in Weinberg-Salam model are considered for which the condition |q 2||q2|W 4 ≪ 16M 8 is shown to be removed.  相似文献

Summary The cumulative distributions of the numbervs. duration of echoes belonging to main meteor showers (Lyrids, ν-Aquarids, δ-Aquarids, Perseids, Orionids, Leonids, Geminids) and sporadic background were investigated using a forward-scatter (FS) continuous-wave (CW) meteor radar link operational during 1992–95 over the long baseline Bologna-Lecce in Italy. The trend of the mass distribution of particles in the quoted meteoroid streams was derived, and the values of the mass indexs were compared for each meteor population with the steady-state condition (s<11/6). It was found that the mass indexs generally increases towards long-duration echoes, but many of the observed meteor streams appear to have unstable populations. The values of the mass index of the sporadic complex are generally higher (2.07≤s≤ 2.57) than the corresponding ones of meteor showers in the range of echo durations 0.1≤T≤10 s. This is a possible consequence of longer-lasting FS signals, indicating a shift of the mass distribution functionvs. higher echo durations. Moreover, non-gravitational forces in connection with solar radiation pressure, Poynting-Robertson effect, solar-wind particle streaming, mutual collisions, etc., appear to be responsible for the observed widespread radiants and for unstable populations in the meteoroid streams.  相似文献

By differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), at low heating rate and using a technique of fractionation, we have measured the equilibrium DSC signal (heat flow) J q 0 of two families of porous glass saturated with water. The shape of the DSC peak obtained by these techniques is dependent on the sizes distribution of the pores. For porous glass with large pore size distribution, obtained by sol-gel technology, we show that in the domain of ice melting, the heat flow Jq is related to the melting temperature depression of the solvent, ΔT m , by the scaling law: J q 0∼ΔT m - (1 + D). We suggest that the exponent D is of the order of the fractal dimension of the backbone of the pore network and we discuss the influence of the variation of the melting enthalpy with the temperature on the value of this exponent. Similar D values were obtained from small angle neutron scattering and electronic energy transfer measurements on similar porous glass. The proposed scaling law is explained if one assumes that the pore size distribution is self similar. In porous glass obtained from mesomorphic copolymers, the pore size distribution is very sharp and therefore this law is not observed. One concludes that DSC, at low heating rate ( q? 2°C/min) is the most rapid and less expensive method for determining the pore distribution and the fractal exponent of a porous material. A projectile ion-recoil ion coincidence technique has been employed to study the multiple ionization and the charge transfer processes in collisions of 60–120 MeV Si q+ (q = 4−14) ions with neutral argon atoms. The relative contribution of different ionization channels, namely; direct ionization, electron capture and electron loss leading to the production of slow moving multiply charged argon recoil ions have been investigated. The data reported on the present collision system result from a direct measurement in the considered impact energy for the first time. The total ionization cross-sections for the recoil ions are shown to scale as q 1.7/E p 0.5 , where E p is the energy in MeV of the projectile and q its charge state. The recoil fractions for the cases of total- and direct ionizations are found to decrease with increasing recoil charge state j. The total ionization fractions of the recoils are seen to depend on q and to show the presence of a ‘shell-effect’ of the target. Further, the fractions are found to vary as 1/j 2 upto j = 8+. The average recoil charge state 〈j〉 increases slowly with q and with the number of lost or captured electrons from or into the projectile respectively. The projectile charge changing cross-sections σ qq are found to decrease with increasing q for loss ionization and to increase with q for direct-and capture ionization processes respectively. The physics behind various scaling rules that are found to follow our data for different ionization processes is reviewed and discussed.  相似文献

A model pseudopotential depending on an effective core radius but otherwise parameter free is used to study the interatomic interactions, phonon dispersion curves (inq and r-space analysis), phonon density of states, mode Grüneisen parameters, dynamical elastic constants (C 11,C 12 andC 44), bulk modulus (B), shear modulus (C′), deviation from Cauchy relation (C 12C 44), Poisson’s ratio (σ), Young’s modulus (Y), behavior of phonon frequencies in the elastic limit independent of the direction (Y 1), limiting value in the [110] direction (Y 2), degree of elastic anisotropy (A), maximum frequencyω max, mean frequency 〈ω〉, 〈ω 21/2=(〈ω〉/〈ω −1〉)1/2, fundamental frequency 〈ω 2〉, and propagation velocities of the elastic constants in Cu, Ag, Au, Ni, Pd, and Pt. The contribution of s-like electrons is calculated in the second-order perturbation theory for the model potential while that of d-like electrons is taken into account by introducing repulsive short-range Born-Mayer like term. Very recently proposed screening function due to Sarkar et al. has been used to obtain the screened form factor. The theoretical results are compared with experimental findings wherever possible. A good agreement between theoretical investigations and experimental findings has proved the ability of our model potential for predicting a large number of physical properties of transition metals.  相似文献

Given an infinite graph 𝔾 quasi-transitive and amenable with maximum degree Δ, we show that reduced ground state degeneracy per site W r (𝔾, q) of the q-state antiferromagnetic Potts model at zero temperature on 𝔾 is analytic in the variable 1/q, whenever |2Δe 3 /q|<1. This result proves, in an even stronger formulation, a conjecture originally sketched in [12] and explicitly formulated in [16 and 19], based on which a sufficient condition for W r (𝔾, q) to be analytic at 1/q=0 is that 𝔾 is a regular lattice. In the QCD sum rule approach we predict the Λ (1405) mass by choosing the π0Σ0 multiquark interpolating field. It is found that the mass is about 1.419 GeV from Π1 (q 2) sum rule which is more reliable than Πq (q 2) sum rule, where Πq (q 2) and Π1 (q 2) are two invariant functions of the correlator Π (q 2). We also present the sum rules for the K + p and the π+Σ+ multiquark states, and compare to those for the π0Σ0 multiquark state. The mass of the Λ (1600) can be also reproduced in our approach. We report preliminary data on proton-lambda correlations at small relative momentum q in the e 3He(4He) → epΛX reaction at E 0 = 4.7(4.46) GeV using the CLAS detector at Jefferson Lab. The enhancement of the correlation function at small q was found to be in qualitative agreement with theoretical expectations. The size of emission region about 1.5 fm was estimated using Lednicky-Lyuboshitz analytical model. The experimental correlation function is comparable with the P-matrix fit of the hyperon-nucleon data. Small-relative-momentum-proton-lambda correlations both for 3He(4He) target and for electroproduction reaction were studied for the first time. The phase diagram of a two-dimensional mesoscopic system of charges or dipoles, whose realizations could be electrons in a semiconductor quantum dot or indirect excitons in a system of two vertically coupled quantum dots, is investigated. Quantum calculations using ab initio Monte Carlo integration along trajectories determine the properties of such objects in the temperature-quantum de-Boer-parameter plane. At zero (sufficiently low) temperature, as the quantum fluctuations of the particles increase, two types of quantum disordering phenomena occur with increasing quantum de Boer parameter q: first, for q∼10−5 the systems transform into a radially ordered but orientationally disordered state wherein various shells of the “atom” rotate relative to one another. For much larger q∼0.1, a transition occurs to a disordered state (a superfluid in the case of a system of bosons). Fiz. Tverd. Tela (St. Petersburg) 41, 1856–1862 (October 1999)  相似文献

Inspired by the work of D.G.Kelly and S.Sherman on general Griffiths inequalities on correlations in Ising ferromagnets, we formulate and prove Griffith–Kelly–Sherman-type inequalities for the ferromagnetic Potts model with a general number q of local states. We take as local state space for the q-state Potts model the set F c  = { − l, − l + 1, ⋯ ,l − 1,l},where l=\fracq-12l=\frac{q-1}{2}. The important properties of F c for what follows are that |F c | = q and F c  = − F c .  相似文献

It was found that, if the energy released in the formation of product molecules in a heterogeneous reaction was smaller than the work function of the surface, the current density of the chemiemission of electrons from the surface of any semiconductor satisfied the condition jBexp(βE), where B and β are coefficients and E is the electric field in the semiconductor surface plane. A mathematical model describing the transfer of hot metal electrons excited in a catalytic reaction through the metal-gas interphase boundary was studied. The parameters of the system at which a study of the distribution of catalytic centers over the surface of a metal or semiconductor by the scanning tip method on the basis of the chemiemission of electrons stimulated by an electric field was possible (resolution δr ∼ 10−8–10−7 m) were determined. Theoretical results corresponded to the experimental data obtained using weak electric fields (0 < E < 5 × 106 V/m) for the heterogeneous recombination of hydrogen atoms on the surface of calcium, titanium, and n-type silicon.  相似文献

We re-evaluate the non-perturbative contribution to the thrust distribution in e + e → hadrons, in the light of the latest experimental data and the recent NNLO perturbative calculation of this quantity. By extending the calculation to NNLO+NLL accuracy, we perform the most detailed study to date of the effects of non-perturbative physics on this observable. In particular, we investigate how well a model based on a low-scale QCD effective coupling can account for such effects. We find that the difference between the improved perturbative distribution and the experimental data is consistent with a 1/Q-dependent non-perturbative shift in the distribution, as predicted by the effective coupling model. Best fit values of α s (91.2 GeV)=0.1164−0.0026+0.0028 and α 0(2 GeV)=0.59±0.03 are obtained with χ 2/d.o.f.=1.09. This is consistent with NLO+NLL results but the quality of fit is improved. The agreement in α 0 is non-trivial because a part of the 1/Q-dependent contribution (the infrared renormalon) is included in the NNLO perturbative correction. We compute the dynamical structure factor S(q,τ) of an elastic medium where force dipoles appear at random in space and in time, due to “micro-collapses” of the structure. Various regimes are found, depending on the wave vector q and the collapse time θ. In an early time regime, the logarithm of the structure factor behaves as (qτ)3/2, as predicted in (L. Cipelletti et al., Phys. Rev Lett. 84, 2275 (2000)) using heuristic arguments. However, in an intermediate-time regime we rather obtain a (qτ)5/4 behaviour. Finally, the asymptotic long-time regime is found to behave as q 3/2τ. We also give a plausible scenario for aging, in terms of a strain-dependent energy barrier for micro-collapses. The relaxation time is found to grow with the age tw, quasi-exponentially at first, and then as t w 4/5 with logarithmic corrections. Received 15 April 2002  相似文献
