An opportunistic routing problem in a cognitive radio ad hoc network is investigated with an aim to minimize the interference to primary users (PUs) and under the constraint of a minimum end-to-end data rate for secondary users (SUs). Both amplify-and-forward (AF) and decode-and-forward (DF) relaying techniques are considered for message forwarding by SU nodes in the network. Unlike popular transmit power control based solutions for interference management in cognitive radio networks, we adopt a cross layer approach. The optimization problem is formulated as a joint power control, channel assignment and route selection problem. Next, closed form expression for transmission power is derived and corresponding channel selection scheme and routing metric are designed based on this solution. The proposed route selection schemes are shown to depend not only on gains of the interference channels between SUs and PUs but also on the values of the spectrum sensing parameters at the SU nodes in the network. Two distributed routing schemes are proposed based on our analysis; (i) optimal_DF and (ii) suboptimal_AF. The routing schemes could be implemented using existing table driven as well as on demand routing protocols. Extensive simulation results are provided to evaluate performance of our proposed schemes in random multihop networks. Results show significant reduction in PUs’ average interference experience and impressive performance as opportunistic routing schemes can be achieved by our schemes compared to traditional shortest path based routing schemes. Performance improvement is also reported over prominent recent schemes.  相似文献

Cognitive Radio (CR) networks are envisioned as a key empowering technology of the fifth-generation (5G) wireless communication networks, which solves the major issues of 5G, like high-speed data transmission, seamless connectivity, and increased demand for mobile data. Another significant characteristic of the 5G network is green communications, as energy consumption from the communication field is predicted to rise remarkably by the year 2030. In this work, we are concerned about energy-related issues and propose a cooperation-based energy-aware reward scheme (CEAR) for next-generation green CR networks. The proposed CEAR scheme is based on the antenna and temporal diversity of the primary users (PUs). For providing the service to the PUs, the users of another network called cognitive users (CUs) work as a cooperative relay node, and, in return, they get more spectrum access opportunities as a reward from the primary network. The CUs with delay-tolerant data packets take a cooperative decision by recognizing the availability and traffic load of PUs, channel state information, and data transmission requirements. We utilize the optimal stopping protocol for solving the decision-making problem and use the backward induction method to obtain the optimal cooperative solution. The simulation results reveal notable enhancements in energy efficiency (EE) of CUs compared with other cooperative schemes. The proposed CEAR scheme is more energy-efficient for ultra-dense network deployment because results show that the CU’s EE, spectral efficiency (SE), and throughput improved with the increase of PUs.  相似文献

In this paper, we propose two subspace-projection-based precoding schemes, namely, full-projection (FP)- and partial-projection (PP)-based precoding, for a cognitive radio multiple-input multiple-output (CR-MIMO) network to mitigate its interference to a primary time-division-duplexing (TDD) system. The proposed precoding schemes are capable of estimating interference channels between CR and primary networks, and incorporating the interference from the primary to the CR system into CR precoding via a novel sensing approach. Then, the CR performance and resulting interference of the proposed precoding schemes are analyzed and evaluated. By fully projecting the CR transmission onto a null space of the interference channels, the FP-based precoding scheme can effectively avoid interfering the primary system with boosted CR throughput. While, the PP-based scheme is able to further improve the CR throughput by partially projecting its transmission onto the null space.  相似文献

In this paper, we study the cooperative communication of a cognitive underlay network by utilizing the diversity of multiple spectrum bands. In particular, we assume that the transmission power of the secondary user (SU) is subject to different joint constraints, such as peak interference power of the multiple primary users (PUs), peak transmission power of the SU, outage tolerate interference, and outage probability threshold. Accordingly, two power allocation schemes are considered on the basis of the minimum interference channel from the SU to the PU and the channel state information of the primary user link. Furthermore, the SU can select one of the three transmission modes following the channel state conditions, namely as cellular, device-to-device, or switching mode, to transmit the signal to the secondary user receiver. Given this setting, two power allocation schemes over a spectrum band selection strategy are derived. In addition, closed-form expressions for the outage probability of three modes are also obtained to evaluate the performance of the secondary network. Most importantly, a closed-form expression for the peak interference power level of the PU, which is considered as one of the most important parameters to control the SU’s transmission power, is derived by investigating the relation of two considered power allocation schemes in the practise. Finally, numerical examples show that the outage performance of secondary network in the switching mode outperforms the one of the cellular and device-to-device (D2D) mode for all considered power allocation schemes.  相似文献

In this paper, we consider the Intelligent reflecting surface (IRS)-assisted cognitive radio (CR) network, in which the IRS is applied to improve the spectral efficiency of secondary users. In specific, the advantages of applying IRS is double: it can not only improve the transmission rate of the secondary users, but also reduce the interference from the secondary users to the primary users, which allow the secondary users to increase the transmission power correspondingly. The original problem is formulated by simultaneously consider the maximum power limitation of the secondary users and the Quality of Service (QoS) requirement of the primary users, which expressed by the interference temperature (IT). The formulated problem is non-convex and difficult to solve directly. We apply the alternating optimization (AO) algorithm to split the original problem into two sub-problems. For the first sub-problem, we transform it into a convex problem and for the second sub-problem, we use the successive convex approximation method to obtain the corresponding results. The simulation experiments show that the performance of our proposed scheme is better than existing schemes.  相似文献

In this work, we present a new concept called “transmission interval” in a hybrid overlay/underlay cognitive radio network. A transmission interval consists of a sequence of time slots during which the secondary user (SU) transmits its data using the optimal mode based on its current state. After the transmission interval ends, the SU has to choose between staying idle for a single time slot to save energy for future possible transmission, transmitting using the underlay mode without sensing to optimize the usage of the limited amount of available energy, or sensing the channel and transmitting using either overlay or underlay mode depending on the primary user (PU) state. The energy harvesting technology is also considered in the presence of multiple PUs and multiple SUs. For the SU network, a sequential decision problem is formulated using the mixed observable Markov decision process to determine the optimal sensing energy and the optimal transmission interval length that maximize the SU network throughput and minimize both the consumed energy and the interference to the PUs. Numerical results show that applying the transmission interval concept increases the SU network throughput and decreases the interference to the PUs compared to conventional models. Moreover, adding the action of underlay transmission without sensing increases the SU network throughput.  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a grouping approach for power allocation in the multi-user OFDM-DCSK (MU-OFDM-DCSK) system under the frequency selective fading channels. The suggested procedure is convenient also for the other comb-type non-coherent schemes with similar structure. Furthermore, we derive analytical bit error rate (BER) expression for the grouped scheme and offer an optimal power distribution policy for both the single- and multi-user scenarios. This power assignment strategy is formulated by a min–max problem with the target of the worst group BER minimization incorporating total power and interference constraints. Simulation results confirm the advantages of the proposed power allocation scheme.  相似文献

After successful dynamic spectrum access, cognitive radio (CR) must be able to relay the message/packets to the destination node by utilizing existing primary system(s) (PS) and/or cooperative/cognitive radio nodes in the cognitive radio network. In this paper, we pioneer the exploration of the fundamental behaviors of interference between CRs and PS in such a relay network via network coding. Interference on PS’s network capacity is shown to be unavoidable and unbounded in the one-hop relay network. Extending to the tandem structure, interference is unbounded but avoidable by appropriate constraints. In cooperative relay network, interference is bounded and avoidable. Moreover, parallel cooperative relay network can accommodate more CR transmission pairs. Such an analysis can be generalized to arbitrary networks. We derive that interference is avoidable when at least one route from CR’s source to the sink bypasses the bottlenecks of PS. Then under the constraint of no interference to PS, we derive CR’s maximum network capacity in such a network. Link allocation to achieve the maximum network capacity can be formulated and solved as a linear programming problem. Consequently, given any network topology, we can determine whether CR’s interference is avoidable, and maximize CR’s network capacity without interfering PS’s network capacity. Simulation results on randomly generated network topologies show that CR’s network capacity achieves on average 1.3 times of PS’s network capacity with interference avoidance constraint, and demonstrates spectrum efficiency at networking throughput and high availability.  相似文献

We propose a mixture-Gaussian model for a cognitive radio channel to analyze the interplay between the interference in the system and the degrees-of-freedom (DOF), i.e., the average number of channel uses per transmission frame, used by the secondary user (SU) for communications in the long run. In contrast to the conventional studies, we assume that the SU receiver (SU-RX) does not precisely know whether the primary-user (PU) transmitter is on or off. Due to this assumption the resulting interference channel is mixture-Gaussian. Our objective is to find the optimal sensing threshold and sensing time for the signal detector used by the SU transmitter (SU-TX). Our formulation of the optimization problem reflects the trade-off between SU-TX’s DOF for communications and that for detection. Both the DOFs affect PU’s interference to SU, and SU’s interference to PU. The latter interference causes PU performance degradation, which is kept within tolerable range as a constraint. As a further contribution, we define interference regimes for SU performance on the basis of PU transmission power level. We also address the scenario when PU receiver uses the nearest neighbor decoding while wrongly anticipating that the channel is Gaussian. Finally, we demonstrate that even if SU-TX’s signal detector performs suboptimally, SU can still achieve the optimal detector’s performance in the high interference regime by adjusting the sensing parameters.  相似文献

In this paper, we investigate the physical-layer security of a secure communication in single-input multiple-output (SIMO) cognitive radio networks (CRNs) in the presence of two eavesdroppers. In particular, both primary user (PU) and secondary user (SU) share the same spectrum, but they face with different eavesdroppers who are equipped with multiple antennas. In order to protect the PU communication from the interference of the SU and the risks of eavesdropping, the SU must have a reasonable adaptive transmission power which is set on the basis of channel state information, interference and security constraints of the PU. Accordingly, an upper bound and lower bound for the SU transmission power are derived. Furthermore, a power allocation policy, which is calculated on the convex combination of the upper and lower bound of the SU transmission power, is proposed. On this basis, we investigate the impact of the PU transmission power and channel mean gains on the security and system performance of the SU. Closed-form expressions for the outage probability, probability of non-zero secrecy capacity, and secrecy outage probability are obtained. Interestingly, our results show that the strong channel mean gain of the PU transmitter to the PU’s eavesdropper in the primary network can enhance the SU performance.  相似文献

Since the 5G bandwidth is very large, there are a large number of non-continuous idle spectrum in 5G communication. In this paper, we have designed transmitter and receiver of a 5G-based wideband cognitive radio (CR) system with cooperative spectrum sensing, in order to improve transmission performance and avoid interference signals. Each CR user marks the spectrum availability for getting the sub-basis function through doing Inverse Fast Fourier Transform (IFFT) with the product of spectrum marker vector and random phase vector. The cooperative spectrum sensing can be realized by cascading the sub-basis functions of all the users. Multiple access of the CR system is also proposed to access much non-continuous idle spectrum. The simulation results have shown that the proposed CR system can avoid the interference effectively and outperform the spread spectrum system obviously.  相似文献

In this paper, the resource allocation strategy is investigated for a spectrum sharing two-tier femtocell networks, in which a central macrocell is underlaid with distributed femtocells. The spectral radius is introduced to address the conditions that any feasible set of users’ signal-to-interference-plus-noise ratio requirements should satisfy in femtocell networks. To develop power allocation scheme with the derived conditions, a Stackelberg game is formulated, which aims at the utility maximization both of the macrocell user and femtocell users. The distributed power control algorithm is given to reduce the cross-tier interference between the macrocell and femtocell with same channel. At last, admission control algorithm is proposed, aiming to exploit the network resource effectively. Numerical results show that the proposed resource allocation schemes are effective in reducing power consumption and more suitable in the densely deployed scenario of the femtocell networks. Meanwhile, it also presents that the distributed power allocation scheme combined with admission control can protect the performance of all active femtocell users in a robust manner.  相似文献

Cognitive radio (CR) has been viewed as a promising solution to spectrum scarcity. In order to design a reliable CR system, many improvements have been proposed to enhance spectrum sensing performance of secondary users (SUs) in a CR network (CRN). Sensing reliability and transmission throughput of SUs are two important performance criteria, which should be optimized to enhance signal protection of primary user (PU) as well as spectrum utilization rate. In this paper, we consider Rayleigh-faded sensing channels and SUs use improved energy detector (IED) to make their local decisions. The final decision is made in a fusion center (FC) through the cooperative spectrum sensing (CSS) scheme with erroneous reporting channels. We show that the improved double-threshold energy detector (IDED) outperforms the conventional energy detector (CED) in terms of the total error rate. Furthermore, we evaluate the transmission throughput of the CRN through various ED schemes with detection constraints over both perfect and imperfect reporting channels. We show that the IDED has the highest achievable throughput among different ED schemes over imperfect reporting channels.  相似文献

The multi-hop Device-to-Device (M-D2D) communication has a potential to serve as a promising technology for upcoming 5G networks. The prominent reason is that the M-D2D communication has the potential to improve coverage, enhanced spectrum efficiency, better link quality, and energy-efficient communication. One of the major challenges for M-D2D communication is the mitigation of interference between the cellular user (CUs) and M-D2D users. Considering this mutual interference constraint, this work investigates the problem of optimal matching of M-D2D links and CUs to form spectrum-sharing partners to maximize overall sum rates of the cell under QoS and energy efficiency (EE) constraints. In this paper, we investigate the interference management for multi-hop (more than one-hop) D2D communication scenarios where we propose a channel assignment scheme along with a power allocation scheme. The proposed channel assignment scheme is based on the Hungarian method in which the channel assignment for M-D2D pairs is done by minimum interference value. The power allocation scheme is based on Binary Particle swarm optimization (BPSO). This scheme calculates the specific power values for all the individual M-D2D links. We have done a comprehensive simulation and the result portrays that our proposed scheme performs better compared to the previous work mentioned in the literature. The results clearly indicate that the proposed scheme enhances the EE of up to 13% by producing the optimal assignment of channels and power for the CUs and M-D2D users.  相似文献

Over a doubly selective channel, broadband transmission systems face challenges in channel estimation and equalization. High mobility causes inter-carrier interference (ICI), while multipath transmission induces inter-symbol interference (ISI). In this paper, we present a mitigation method of ICI/ISI for the offset quadrature amplitude-modulated filter bank multi-carrier (OQAM-FBMC) system. It features low inherent imaginary interference (IMI) sensitivity and high efficiency. Specifically, a pilot indices optimization algorithm and a sparse adaptive orthogonal subspace pursuit (SAOSP) algorithm are presented based on the 2-D channel modeling scheme. The guard pilots are first added to mitigate the effect of ICI. Then the index optimization and SAOSP algorithms are applied to achieve a high-accuracy estimation of sparse channel coefficients. In addition, a threshold judgment suboptimal minimum mean square error (MMSE) equalization method is presented based on the variability of the interference power. The method uses normalized interference power thresholds to estimate the ISI dimension and reduce the equalization data, thus mitigating the effect of ISI and achieving efficient equalization. To verify the above methods, single-input-single-output (SISO) and multiple-input-multiple-output (MIMO) models are built. Simulation results indicate a 3-5 dB improvement in channel estimation accuracy. The suboptimal MMSE equalization results are close to the optimal MMSE with about four orders of magnitude reduction in complexity.  相似文献

In this paper, the performance of cognitive radio (CR) code division multiple access (CDMA) networks is analyzed in the presence of receive beamforming at the base stations (BSs). More precisely, we analyze, through simulations, the performance achievable by a CR user, with and without spectrum sensing, in a three-cell scenario. Uplink communications are considered. Three different schemes for spectrum sensing with beamforming are presented, together with a scheme without spectrum sensing. CR users belong to a cognitive radio network (CRN) which is coexisting with a primary radio network (PRN). Both the CRN and the PRN are CDMA based. The CRN is assumed to utilize beamforming for its CR users. Soft hand-off (HO) and power control are considered in both the CRN and the PRN. The impact of beamforming on the system performance is analyzed, considering various metrics. In particular, we evaluate the performance of the proposed systems in terms of outage probability, blocking probability, and average data rate of CR users. The results obtained clearly indicate that significant performance improvements can be obtained by CR users with the help of beamforming. The impact of several system parameters on the performance of the three considered spectrum sensing schemes with beamforming is analyzed. Our results, in terms of probability of outage, show that the relative improvement brought by the use of beamforming is higher in the absence of spectrum sensing (reduction of 80%) than in the presence of spectrum sensing (reduction of 42%).  相似文献

In this paper, we introduce a novel approach for power allocation in cellular networks. In our model, we use sigmoidal-like utility functions to represent different users’ modulation schemes. Each utility function is a representation of the probability of successfully transmitted packets per unit of power consumed by a user, when using a certain modulation scheme. We consider power allocation with utility proportional fairness policy, where the fairness among users is in utility percentage i.e. percentage of successfully transmitted packets of the corresponding modulation scheme. We formulate our power allocation optimization problem as a product of utilities of all users and prove that it is convex and therefore the optimal solution is tractable. We present a distributed algorithm to allocate base station powers optimally with priority given to users running lower modulation schemes while ensuring non-zero power allocation to users running higher modulation schemes. Our algorithm prevents fluctuation in the power allocation process and is capable of traffic and modulation dependent pricing policy. This can be used to flatten traffic and decrease the service price for users. We also compare our results with a benchmark algorithm and show that our algorithm performs better in allocating powers fairly to all users without dropping any user in order to maximize performance.  相似文献

This paper investigates a reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS)-aided underlay cognitive radio (CR) multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) wiretap channel where the secondary transmitter (ST) communicates with primary user (PU) and secondary user (SU) in the absence of the eavesdropper’s (Eve’s) channel state information (CSI). To enhance the secrecy performance in CR MIMO wiretap channel, the power of useful signal is minimized at ST, and then the residual power is further utilized to design artificial noise (AN) based on statistical CSI at ST. Specifically, we first optimize the transmit covariance matrix at ST and the diagonal phase-shifting matrix at RIS jointly leveraging large-system approximation results. Then the power allocation for SU is optimized to obtain the minimum transmit power of useful information at ST. Besides, we further design AN with the residual power by aligning it into the null space of the SU channel and thus avert the harmful effects of AN to improve the secure communication quality of SU. Finally, through numerical simulations, we illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm and validate the existence of a trade-off between the quality-of-service (QoS) at SU and secrecy rate.  相似文献

In this article, we propose a deep Q-learning based algorithm for optimal resource allocation in energy harvested cognitive radio networks (EH-CRN). In EH-CRN, channel resources of primary users (PU) networks are shared with secondary users (SU) and energy harvesting allows nodes of the CRN to acquire energy from the environment for operation sustainability. However, amount of energy harvested from the environment is not fixed and requires dynamic allocation of resources for obtaining optimum network and throughput capacity. In this work, we overcome the limitations of existing Q-learning based resource allocation schemes which are constrained by large state-space systems and have slow convergence. Proposed deep Q-learning based algorithm improves the resource allocation in EH-CRN, while considering quality of service (QoS), energy and interference constraints. Simulation results show that proposed algorithm provide improved convergence and better resource utilization compared to other techniques in literature.  相似文献
